Holiday weekend right around the corner and it is colder than a well diggers backside. Get’n down to 10 degrees in the Carolinas which trust me is not even close to normal. We’ll survive. Hope everyone is prepped and ready for not only the weather but also a complete slate of games tomorrow. Will be interesting to see which Viking teams shows up or if two completely different teams show up in each half. This team is a complete enigma this year. Never seen anything like it.

Journal entry 12-today-Limbo
I have barricaded myself in the closet as Snowmaggedon continues to wipe the earth from existence. The pounding on the door is driving me insane. It has gone on unceasing for hours. Cracks are beginning to form.
My wife…she has been taken by the spirit of the Wendigo. She has tasted of human flesh and has now become insatiable. My shoulder throbs from where she has taken a bite. The blood loss and pain from the wound has rendered me wavering in and out of consciousness.
I fear I do not have long left. I managed to escape the clutches of my wife and enter this cramped sanctuary by dashing her over the head with my shovel, which has become an extension of myself since the snowblower has given up the ghost. But now, with my wounded limb, I will not be able to wield this mighty weapon.
Even now, the door begins to splinter, and her drooling wails become more frenzied as that she knows sustenance is near. Perhaps, I can distract her with promises of snow-day lovemaking, but I fear her love has grown as cold as the winter wastelands beyond, and her mind is as black with hunger as the world is blackened with frostbite from this apocalyptic devil storm.
I take some small comfort in knowing that at least my man-steaks will be soured with terror and probably give her diarrhea.

Bears lose two CBs, both are starters that play a decent amount
I can tell it’s cold outside when my feet get cold while I’m sitting in my home office. Basement room with a cement slab under me (there’s carpet, but no pad), and one of the walls is an outside wall. There’s no HVAC in the room, and I keep the door closed.
Little space heater works wonders.
Yep my bonus room above the garage where I watch Viking games and have my office does have HVAC but it still gets cold so I have a little space heater and it does work wonders.
My dad’s study is located above the garage as well. It’s insulated from the garage, but the garage isn’t, so there’s cold garage air beneath it and on two sides, the other two walls are exterior walls, and there’s just roof (no room) above, so that room gets chilly if the door is closed.
Cozy little spot, though.

I will be leaving work as soon as my son shows up to crawl into the drivers seat from the back seat…apparently both my front car doors are frozen and inoperable, I will never take my car through a car wash in the winter again.

2 lights in our bathroom are not working today.
I remove the cover and there is NO light bulb.
I assume they are LED modern lights or something.
They are probably a little over 2 years old. We bought the house a year ago.
How do you replace these? Brand new fixture?

Check to see if there is power to the lights when the switch is on. Since both went out, it is likely the switch. Check the power at the switch. My guess is you will need to replace the switch.

Might be a GFI outlet somewhere in the house that controls that fixture. I have the same issue in our upstairs master bath. The GFI (outlet with the built in red & black pushing in breaker switch) Mine is in the downstairs laundry closet pantry on the back wall completely hidden. Had to call the guy who built the place to figure it out.
If not the switch this is solid advice. Same thing happened at my old place. I rewired an outside outlet twice and traced to a tripped GFCI forty feet away.
Voltmeter check with switch is 1st, then go elsewhere.
Might be a PITA, but can you post pics of the innards?
Bust out the multimeter and find out if you have power and go from there.

Journal Entry 12-23-22
It is now day 38 of Snowmageddon. The snowblower will not start. The car is frozen to the ground anyway. Last night, we finished the last of our ketchup packets. My wife idly wondered, “Would your arm taste like pork?” and then asked, “Did I say that out loud?”
I must keep a careful eye on her going forward. I fear this is only the beginning. At least the TV still works. It sooths us with its opium dreams.
My toes have lost all feeling. All I see is white. Sometimes, in the shifting mists, I think I see a giant inch worm measuring out the scope of life, and it freezes solid. That’s my dream. That’s my nightmare…

Minnesota’s offense is ranked 20th with the pass significantly better than the run.
The Giants’ defense is ranked 29th and they aren’t good at stopping either.
New York’s offense is ranked 14th – their pass game is also better than their run game.
The Vikings’ defense 19th, better at stopping the run than the pass.
What this says to me is that the Giants aren’t going to be able to milk the clock well if they get a lead, but the Vikings could do just that on offense, although the defense may struggle to prevent the Giants from passing effectively.
The return of the pass rush would help a lot here.
I predict Hockenson has a nice day, and while Cook won’t get a lot of yards through the air, the run game should have a nice day overall.
I also predict that the game will come down to the final drive and I’ll finish off the alcoholic eggnog before that point.
It is all about timing. You have to pace yourself so the last bit of alcohol gets poured as Joseph comes onto the field in Overtime.

Seems weird. This defense is trash.
I mean, it’s ranked higher in among 32 teams of the 2022 season, but the offense is better than the defense from a quantitative standpoint. The offense is only 2.9% worse than average while the defense is 4.3% worse than average (average coming from a sample great than the 2022 season alone).
All indicators are we are a below average team. It’s amazing we aren’t 4-10.
yup. offense is explosive, but not consistently efficient. Cousins is ineffective when the plays don’t develop on schedule. defense is bend-don’t-break (DVOA hates that) and special teams is LOL other than the punter and the kick returner
The simple fact is we have been the luckiest team in the history of the nfl so far this season. While many argue we make our own luck, there is no explaining the calls against our opponents that end their drives or extend ours. The officiating has been terribly inconsistent in many games this season.
We have all been down this road before. Usually with a much better team that actually generates hope before being monumentally embarrassed on national tv in the playoffs. This team is different in that they aren’t good and keep winning in spite of that. It is conceivable that they could keep winning even though they are outplayed in every game. It will be interesting to watch how it all ends again.
Reminds me a lot of the 2000 season, honestly. This version is even more egregious, though. Something like 41-donut but likely in the divisional round

If the officiating was radically lopsided I’d be more inclined to agree with that point. However, there have been ridiculous calls against us, and so many missed calls that would have been in our favor, that I think there may be more evidence of an officiating conspiracy AGAINST us.
Yet, still we win.
Agreed. Kodiak tends to blend out all the calls and non-calls that hurt the Vikings in some way.
OK, so, Vikings are #25 in DVOA and the Giants are #22. They’re close-ish, with the Vikings having 10.1 % value below the average team and the Giants having 7.4% below average value. (the jump from the 26th to 27th ranked teams [Raiders and Rams] is from 10.3% to 16.4%, so the rankings alone don’t tell the full story.)
Thankfully, this game is at home.

We were going to, but the roads are horrendous. I have a 4 day weekend for New Year’s, we’ll just go next weekend instead. Her parents are retired, so it doesn’t matter to them which weekend we celebrate Christmas.
Last night I walked the dogs couldn’t see ten feet in front of my face even with headlamp. -17 45mph sustained winds blowing and drifting snow had a hard time finding the water stations and even harder time breaking the ice out for the grateful cattle. This morning full Sun no wind temp up to -16 building my snow fence with the skid steer. Gonna lay out on the patio.

What kind of temps can those trough heaters withstand?
They do freeze up, depends on temps and how often they fill. By the time the cows went to drink it was frozen over and they couldn’t break the ice. This morning while I was pounding on the ice the dogs and I were surrounded by 64 drooling cows that sprinted from their hunker down spot to the station.
I would say above zero and daily drinking they don’t freeze over.
I’m hunkering down. Need to make a final run today (driveway salt, bank, a few groceries), then we’re closing up and focusing on Christmas cookies and fires in the fireplace, and all manners of cheer.

I’ll end up venturing out early to mid-afternoon on Christmas Day to see my parents up at my sister’s place, but I’ve accepted that. Other than that, I’m not going anywhere after today and before the 27th at the earliest. Looking forward to it!

EKG’s all come back fine, no issues, no hint of an issue.
GP’s Nurse called Monday and her exact words were ‘You’ve had a pretty significant heart attack, at least one’
Cardiologist says he thinks it may be the perfect storm – of a false positive.
Fairly frequent according to him. He told me that the type of scarring the stress test showed was indicative of an old heart attack – one that would’ve left no doubt (never hospitalized, never showed emergency symptoms)
After studying the test, charts and my symptoms (as well as a quick listen of my heart) he’s confident that it wasn’t a heart attack at all.
Heart catheterization on Tuesday morning @ 530 – says it’ll show exactly what we’re dealing with and we’ll go from there.

1rd playoff game IIRC
The weekend of the playoffs. I also have tickets to the playoff game. Not sure on which day the game will be played (Saturday, Sunday, or Monday), so booked the room from Saturday – Tuesday. We’ll just hang out as a fam at the water park on the other 2 days.
I just found out that one of my favorite YouTubers passed on last Saturday. He had just over 100k subscribers, but multiple videos with a million or more views – he was good at what he did. He found semi-hidden spiritual meanings in popular films and made videos explaining what he found.
I emailed back and forth with him on various theological topics and joined some of his live calls he used to do years ago – he was a genuinely good dude from what I could tell.
He was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor in November of 2021 and given 18 months, but only made it 13 before passing on and entering glory.
What was his name in case I want to look up some of his stuff?

A couple of his more popular videos cover the Shawshank Redemption and No Country For Old Men, but some of my favorite work he’s done has far fewer views, such as Cast Away, A Quiet Place, and Groundhog Day.

My oldest enjoys shoveling and comes out every time I snow blow, which is awesome. He does the end of the driveway and handles the snow curb courtesy of the snow plow, and he does the front walk, and he shovels around his car, which is sitting on a 10×20 cement pad adjacent to the driveway. It’s 10% of the snow at most, but it feels like it cuts my work almost in half.
that was yesterday morning that he did, but i had to shovel the sidewalk, and i have alot of sidewalk and it was alot of snow haha
