Vikings News & Random Thoughts
Kirk Cousins contract is essentially a one-year $11.3 million deal from the Raiders (with the Falcons paying the rest of the 20 mil) and effects both Aaron Rodgers and Fernando Mendoza, most likely the Douche goes back to Pittsburgh and Mendoza gets to sit a year unless Kirk gets hurt again.
Former Viking, Defensive Play Of The Year, and All Pro Stephon Gilmore is retiring from the NFL, he was at the tail end of his career when he played here and was only around for year.
BSPN “experts” Mel Kiper, and something called Matt Miller, Jordan Reid, and Field Yates did a mock draft alternating positions. They have the Vikings taking some safety named Thieneman in the first round and Jadarian Price in the second. I highly doubt those are the two picks at those spots. What I am sure of is when the Vikings don’t take who Kiper thinks they should he will throw a fit like a toddler.

RIP MIchael Hutchence
Remember this?
The fear put out there by the government was just another major factor causing people to lose trust in public officials.
My favorite nonsensical rule, and competition was tight, was that when restaurants did open, you had to wear a mask except when seated at your table. This was after a Stanford study came out showing that indoor air was thorougly mixed in as little as 15 minutes with most HVAC systems.
It was awful so many people died, but our goverment only flamed the fear, and offerred moneey to help relieve it
They lost me completely when Michigan said that you could go out in a Kayak to birdwatch but not to fish, and banned the sales of gardening supplies.
Or when Commifornia said Construction had to stop except on Government projects.
Beyond stupid stuff.
This still makes me laugh…
Laughing…
For a politician Sen Kennedy is pretty good.
Got that ‘old time southern lawyer’ vibe going on.
So I read that Tom Brady pushed for the Raiders to sign Cousins.
Damn… you’d think the GOAT would know that Cousins sucks.
So Montana Counties (Bozeman, Helena) are playing word games so they don’t have to cooperate with ICE??
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/state-top-cop-moves-crush-alleged-dhs-records-restriction-county-denies-ice-out
Looks like.
Good thing the state Government is putting a stop to that crap.
Even the reddest states have some TDS in them.
J.J. McCarthy in 2025:
– Lowest completion percentage (57.6%)
– Lowest average yardage per attempt (5.4yds)
– Lowest passer rating (72.6)
– Lowest adjusted net yardage per pass attempt (4.3yds)
– Lowest on-target percentage (66.5%)
– 2nd-lowest passing success rate (41.1%)
– 2nd-lowest pass yards per game of any QB that started at least 10 games (163.2yds)
– 3rd-lowest QBR (35.6)
– 5th-lowest net yards per pass attempt (5.49yds)
– 6th-lowest pressure-to-sack rate (23.5%)
– 8th-lowest overall QB PFF grade (61.8)
– 8th-lowest PFF passing grade (60.1)
– Most interceptions of any QB that played 10 games or less (12)
– 2nd-highest bad-throw percentage (21.3%)
This shows us the floor that the Vikings have if they went 9-8 in 2025 with the QB play from that entire room, and assuming we have the usual Flores-standard defensive unit we’re accustomed to.
It’s hard to imagine that Kyler Murray would be close to that floor. He is a massive upgrade over McCarthy. Thus, all things being equal, the team should do well this year.
Saw this…
Surface-level case study on just how bad the Vikings passing offense was in 2025 in comparison to the rest of the KOC era.
2022 (Cousins all 17 starts):
– 263.8 pass yards per game (6th)
– 66.7% completion percentage (5th)
– 30 TDs (5th)
– 93.1 passer rating (12th)
2023 (Cousins/Dobbs/Mullens):
– 256.4 pass yards per game (5th)
– 67.2% completion percentage (6th)
– 30 TDs (6th)
– 92.4 passer rating (12th)
2024 (Darnold all 17 starts):
– 237.8 pass yards per game (6th)
– 66.4% completion percentage (12th)
– 35 TDs (5th)
– 102.9 passer rating (6th)
2025 (McCarthy 10 starts/Wentz/Brosmer):
– 166.7 pass yards per game (29th)
– 61.6% completion percentage (24th)
– 18 TDs (29th – 1 of only 2 teams in NFL to have more INTs than TDs)
– 75.3 passer rating (30th)
Minnesota in the KOC era is at absolute worst a consistent top-10 passing offense in the NFL, unless…
All I see from this is that Darnold is much better than Kirk
This is ridiculous…

My CENTCOM sources told me about an hour ago that the second F-15 crewmember had been recovered by the CSAR team and was safe in Iraq. Don’t know if that’s made it out there yet.
Awesome if accurate…no one else reporting. How reliable is your source?
Top shelf
And how in the hell did they shoot down an F-15 anyway?? Of they can down an F-15 they sure as shit can down a B-52 and they are currently deployed…Of course Minot Air Force Base one of two B-52s. Lot’s of those folks go to our church….praying for safety….
We’ve flown thousands of sorties over Iraq. They got us one out of about 9,000 flights.
I haven’t gotten the details, but the F15E is a fighter/bomber. It has an air to ground mission. Likely the Iraqi’s reprogrammed on of their anti-aircraft systems radar so our sensors didn’t pick it up. Just a guess at this point.
And yes, flying missions in a contested airspace is always highly dangerous.
Yes…always dangerous….
B-52s fly a bit higher than F-35s.
Yes, and over Iran, they’re flying around 50,000 feet to remain outside the effective range of most enemy air defenses.
Know you’re Air Force. Was wondering why weren’t the downed pilots pretty close together?
Because the whizzo (weapons officer or back seater) ejects first. The F15E is probably flying around 570 miles an hour or a little under 10 miles a minute at that time. Depending on what the pilot needed to do before ejecting himself which includes a bunch of classified stuff, he could have traveled quite a distance before egress. Then wind drift could take him even farther away. It would be common for them to be several miles apart.
Been down to West Palm (Trump world) doing a little business and also animal sitting for my daughter at her zoo while she’s on a mini vacation.
Read many of the Cousins comments from the last two days, and in recognition of the religious nature of the day, will share a little story that touches some on both.
Late last summer was in the fitness center talking to Kirk and his brother. Near the end of the conversation, I made a casual comment to Kirk – you’re in. QB hell down there in Atlanta an d I’m going to pray for you. He replied – don’t do that, the Lord has much bigger issues to be concerned with than that.
Thought that said a lot about him
Little Cousins, little religion on this blessed day.
Thanks for sharing that. Cousins response doesn’t surprise me. He knows he’s had a blessed life. If he never plays another football game again, it’s not a tragedy, and he knows it.
Gotta give you a BZ here.
Read thru yesterdays comments this morning and saw you got 31 red flags. That had to be a record I mean what the hell!
Jealousy is a hell of a drug… what can I say?
Just in case anyone cares…
I don’t remember an attempted bombing of MacDill Air Force Base Visitor’s Center in Tampa FL?
But the Legal Argument before the SC is not logical. Add in politics and it makes even less sense. Greg Gutfeld laid out that point pretty clearly last night.
https://www.foxnews.com/video/6392484805112
Happened recently. They found the device and EOD removed it. It was a real, functional bomb. Since then the base has received video messages from some group (can’t recall their name) that is against the war in Iran and U.S. deportation policy.
MacDill is currently at THREATCON Charlie.
F-15 down inside Iran.
Iranians offering reward for pilot/copilots capture.
Marines searching by helicopter.
Prayers needed.

Laughing. This is what happens when a 22 year old with no NFL experience is promoted as a HoF QB before he ever sets foot on the field. Especially a guy who has never carried an offense with his brain and his arm… ever. Much less at the pro level.
Maybe they should have signed you, you seem to have had NFL physical and cerebral ability the past 50 years.
Neither. How about Bo Nix?
Nix was my favorite QB in the 2024 draft. I thought he was the most pro ready. The Vikings went with the least pro ready in my opinion.
Foolish comment. I played QB in college and was technically eligible for the 1977 NFL draft. That’s the year the Vikings drafted Tommy Kramer. I joined the Air Force.
They should’ve traded up one spot and took JJ Watt.
I blame Ponder
Always…
I wouldn’t be surprised if those guys are our picks with 18 and 49.
……and I’d be plenty happy with those picks.
Your sin was paid for. You are forgiven. Blessings on the day.
While I have less than a casual interest in professional golf, I found the video of Tiger’s DUI somewhat interesting. He…needs help. I was also impressed with the professionalism of the young deputies…”I was just on the phone with the President”, etc…I would be thinking the whole time everything I am doing is going to be viewed 100 million times on tiktok/insta/YT. Would be like me rendering good samaritan aid to Taylor Swift in a fender bender.
Interesting take.
I have not watched the Video since I don’t follow golf/golfers but I do support Law Enforcement.
He does need help.
I’m sure he is in pain, but he’s not all there mentally imo.
I remember this vividly.
PGA championship 2009.
Hazeltine Golf Club in Minnesota.
I was there for the final round.
Tiger was leading to start the day.
I was no more than 3 feet away from him on the 16th hole? on the back nine.
He collapsed and lost that tournament.
2 months later is when the fight with the wife and all of the hooker news came out.
That was the start of the downfall.
Damn, I thought he was a good family man and only committed adulterous acts with Perkins waitresses…there were prostitutes, too?
I didn’t watch any of the Tiger Woods accident video’s. The pundits want to exploit his foils for their own clicks and attention. He shouldn’t be driving impaired for sure. He does take a lot of medication, legally prescribed by his doctor, to manage his pain. Everyone knows when you are taking those meds, they dull your senses and your judgement wanes. He took meds, and he went out for whatever reason in his car. Bad plan, poorly executed.
Tiger has pain. His doctor medicates him for pain. He tries to carry on with his life while being medicated for his pain. He has reached a point where he can’t actually do every day activities on his own sometimes. A personal assistant would be the right way to go here IMO. Someone to help manage his everyday needs and eliminate the chance of further incidents. It’s a blessing he didn’t hurt himself or anyone else.
Tiger isn’t a bad person. He’s just a beat up athlete with a lot of pain.
I agree with everything you say…I think his saying he called the President (who knows, he might have him on speed dial) was one of the dumber things to do in that setting. It reminds me a bit of a little scandal at our shop, a surgeon got pulled over and arrested for DUI, said to the arresting officer, “You had better hope you never end up in my ER needing treatment.” That doesn’t play well and in the setting of the surgeon ended in his resignation. Resist the urge to ask the President to bail you out of your own stupidity and take your lumps.
Well, he mentioned donny, because he’s like anyone else that’s close to donny. He probably figured he would get a “get out of jail free card” just for being close to donny.
I just can’t imagine. “I’m sorry sir, the President is in a closed meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff regarding the Strait of Hormuz”…well you’re gonna have to pull him out of the meeting, this is really important!
Well, if you’re dating a Trump, and you’re a close friend of Trump, and you know this is about to be major news, you might feel compelled to call him and let him know first, what’s going on. Tiger has no need of Trump’s help. The President was asked about the incident pretty quickly. So a courtesy call to let him know what’s happening was both practical, and prudent at the moment. Whether mentioning it to the police officers was some sort of power play, or simply an innocent advisement I don’t know.
Or, you realize you just major f’d up and your ass is in a bind, and you called someone who has the power to just maybe save you.
Tiger has all the power he needs. He doesn’t need Trump’s help. He was letting the President know what happened, because he knew the press would be hounding him soon about it.
Watch the video. It’s police body cam footage, nothing fake. It has nothing to do with “pundits” wanting to exploit him.
If you post the embarrassing moments and failures of a great athlete for clicks… it’s exploiting the moment. Don’t be naive. Tiger is a famous person, and that’s the only reason this story is being pushed.
Here’s an article from ESPN some years back detailing his pain issues brought on from secret training with the SEAL’s. Talks about his old man and his downfall a bit. Read this years ago and found it fascinating.
https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/15278522/how-tiger-woods-life-unraveled-years-father-earl-woods-death
I still quote that article from time to time. Don’t play at being a SEAL, their training is not for the weekend warrior!
At least he will have a helmet on.
Ahhh, Hair Helmet.
Took me a second.
Rec for you.

Happy Good Friday everyone!!! Remember the depth of God’s love for us.
yesterday was just one of those days, when i didn’t really want to get up, everyone kind of sucked, i’m not sure why but i just kinda wanted to rip everyone’s head of, i didn’t want much human interaction, and if someone wanted interaction, it would be your life in your own hands, but the best bet would be to just stay away….sort of felt like a freight train….
idk
anyways…
Hell getting old…
You have a lake house…go there, bundle up, go sit by the shore with a mug of coffee, re-set yourself.
To make you feel better, I just gave you some street cred.
The GOAT at getting paid surpasses the GOAT at actually playing in career earnings
That’s so crazy
It is crazy as an example of how NFL salaries are off the charts. Back in the late 60s, early 70s, some of the great players were so under-paid, compared to today. As an example, Bart Starr’s career earnings were 4.5 million. Gale Sayers annual salary topped out at 35k. Compare those numbers to what some backups get today….. wow
none of that has anything to do with the original post or MPs response
Hmm, i thought i was commenting on the crazy growth of NFL salaries. Cousins making more than Brady is a short term view of that craziness. The long term view is a guy like Ty Chandler out earning, by a huge margin, Gale Sayers (one of the greatest RBs in the game). I guess i have to work on my clarity, or keep my dumb thoughts to myself.
Understood your point fine.
Brady is about 10 years older and salaries seem to rise like crazy. Would bet the house barring injury a QB like Purdy will far, far exceed Brady
Brady is also a bit in unusual in that he was married to one of the richest women in the country.
It’s ok. Ben is just drunk posting again.
Yeah, Brady left a fair amount of money on the table during his career and even admitted he took less to help his team keep other players. Kirk did everything possible to extract every dollar possible at every negotiation during his career. I don’t judge either, they just have different motivations.
And fully guaranteed contracts for 11 years. Kirk’s agent is HOF worthy.
That isn’t true Ben. Cousins took LESS money to come to the Vikings. And before that, he made two good offers to the Redskins that Bruce Allen blew off, which resulted in Cousins being franchise tagged two years in a row. That cost them more for his two years than the 3 year deal he’d offered. Finally, he made a below market value offer to the Vikings to stay here, which KAM rejected. That resulted in Cousins being offered a big deal by Atlanta to join their team. Cousins didn’t milk anyone. He worked with GM’s to free up cap space several times. He got paid market value for his services, and played at a very high level. This whole narrative is a load of rubbish and just more KDS hate.
I wonder if Brady got any kind of spouse support agreement from his divorce. He should have….
I suspect Prenup.
Gotta feel bad for Brady with all he’s gone through, even now he has to work in television just to make ends meet…
100%.
People with that kind of money file taxes separately.
I file taxes for average people who make a normal wage, and they file separately.
Interesting side note.
It is said that Bill Gates could not even afford the taxes that Elon Musk has to pay.
I saw some blurb recently that “pocahontas” was introducing a bill that billionaires have to pay taxes on 2% of their gross worth or some such statistic. I don’t see that ever passing, as how do you force someone to pay taxes on unrealized gains?
On a side note, I wish someone would introduce the Paul Pelosi fund. Have a packet sniffer (NOMST) intercept his incoming trades and immediately carry out identical trades. Man I would make bank.
I thought that they had already established a fund that shadowed Pelosi?
Wash St doesn’t have an income tax so they just went after peoples money a different way.
‘Washington State has enacted a landmark 9.9% “millionaires’ tax” on annual capital gains or income exceeding $1 million, effective Jan. 1, 2028, impacting residents and non-residents with state-source income. This 2026 law aims to fund education and tax relief, while existing 2025 changes increased capital gains taxes to 9.9% and modified business taxes.
We are expecting lots of Wash St refugees here in Idaho.
i wonder how much money kirk would pay for ONE superbowl? $13.50?
If it was on clearance at Kohl’s.
I kid of course. After that Quarterback documentary on Netflix, I along with a lot of people gained a good amount of respect for Kirk and what it takes to be a good QB. I also gained respect for the family man he is and how he takes that above anything else. I appreciated his accuracy and durability during his time in MN, which are very underrated attributes for a QB.
That said, he has made bank, and it’s crazy.
that said….if he learned to be a little less
“needing to make the most money possible” and a little more “i want to win a superbowl” he would still be rich AND have his lombardi trophy too..
tom brady is the quintessential have your cake AND eat it too….but not like gross high fat cake, the kind that tastes good but is good for you too
Yes, Kirk will for sure be best known for his money making skills and not for winning or Super Bowls, and that it kind of the path he chose.
I’m in the, it sounds too good to be true, mode with Kirko.
He’s all PR and money.
Which is fine if he would just admit it and stop with the , “it’s not about the money and I want to retire a…..” nonsense.
My trick knee is telling me something crazy about Kirk will come out at some point in the future.
I wonder if he’ll go to Reno on Tuesdays?
My wife had a very good laugh about “Saint Kirk” heading to Sin City. She asked the same exact question. Pretty sure he will not move the family there, so what exactly will he do on Tuesdays during the season?
LOL….
The fully guaranteed dude wouldn’t pay for anything.
He would demand moar money for that superb-owl.
WR’s will be surpassing that soon…. Salaries keep growing.
GM!

SKOL!
Happy Good Friday for those who celebrate that..

At least in Miami, I could get Jai Alai on tap. For some reason that was not a thing in Sarasota/Venice last fall.
