Hope the guys in the picture play better than they have in the past.

About 90% of the pundits are telling us Kyler Murray is going to be named the starter this year, prior to the start of camp. I hope he is reading the playbook vs playing video games. We will see. I know that whomever the team picks to play QB, the crowd will be chanting the other guys name every time the starter makes a bad play. This is what fans do. I am ready for the start of the circus.

#1 Baseball Pick, HOF.
In Football he was Gatorade National Player of the Year and USA Today’s Player of the Year as a QB.
In Basketball he averaged more than 20 points a game as a point guard for Cretin-Derham Hall.[10] He was also named to the All-State team twice.

Way back in the day when we bought our first house, it had an above ground pool. Neither of us had had a pool growing up. We used it some, but not a lot mostly because this is WI and you can use a pool for about a week in July. I don’t remember it being to expensive to maintain for the few months of summer. One day we came home and our yard had a big spot that was wet and the grass was all smashed down. We came around the corner of the house and we saw that the pool had busted open and all of the water had poured out across the yard, down the hill into the ditch below. We did not fix it.

SoCal with all it’s water/drought restrictions has issues with above ground pools.
Heck they were talking about restricting household use to less than 55 gals a day per person. Total usage, watering outside, toilet flushes, tap water, etc.
One of the many reasons that we left.

Happy Saturday Skololobrobros!

Beautiful day in AlphabetTown.

Just got back from mowing my old man’s lawn. Not a Yarbo – we ain’t got that Canadian gouger money that ol’ MT Sawbones is throwing around – Toro Timecutter, a bottle of green tea and the good tunes of Colter Wall and got ‘er done.

Got some Aldi chicken sausages in the air fryer for lunch.

Flatbread pizza for supper.

Massive chocolate chip take n bake cookie for dessert.

Gonna watch the UFL Championship because: football junkie.

Later I’ll throw on some NFL. Thinking I’ll rewatch the Christmas Day Lions game – or the Max Brosmer Redemption Story as it’s known in my house.

Probably play some vidja games until my eyes bleed.

Rob – the pool question is interesting. Lots of issues.
Lived most of my life in DC area and it just didn’t make sense – really not enough good weather given the costs.
Now, have lived in Florida for several years and have a pool. And here, can use it like 9 – 10 months a year without the heater. As you probably know, heating the water with the heater is really expensive, and that’s a lot of water.
Since you do live in Florida you no doubt see there are a lot of pools. Regarding real estate, there is only one house in our neighborhood that doesn’t have a pool. And that was a problem when the owners tried to sell it. Yet, in other neighborhoods, probably not so much.
There are maintenance costs, But interestingly, size of the pool is not that big an issue on that. Many pools down here are what we would have called up North glorified hot tubs.
Final thought. Our kids are older and the hot tub portion gets five times the useage as the pool itself ( and that’s not so much to heat).

This may sound over the top but it isn’t and is common in Florida. Also pick a community that has a golf course and everyone has their own cart. With this setup you can usually play golf just about anytime you chose at no cost.

But maintaining it plus extra insurance (already astronomical in SoCal) vs how much it get used. Not sure a broken down, nasty pool adds quite as much anywhere.

“Broken down nasty pool” is an apt description when we moved in 4 years ago.

buttload of chemicals and some scrubbing and it’s been blue ever since.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy a house with a pool, but we’re going to enjoy this one while we have it.

Not that the nieces/nephews are all moved out I doubt that it get much use at all, or much maintatinace.

I’m not seeing that.
Id have to spend north of $75,000 to put an in-ground pool in. Along with all the other things needed like a patio, furniture and the annual $3,000 to $5,000 in up keep costs.

Our neighborhood avg house is $450,000.
I don’t see any buyer coming in willing to pay $550,000 because there is a pool, when the avg house is $450,000.

If I had money to burn, a pool is nice.

Our new GM is changing a few things up ‘behind the scenes’ it looks like. 4 front office types have left since his hire and he looks to be bringing in people he knows and is comfortable with.
Normal business I expect but as the article mentioned KAM pretty much left people in place when he took over. Some change is good/needed.

The biggest one is Jamaal Stephenson, he was there for 25 years and one of the senior players evaluators. What I don’t understand is why Ryan Grigson is still there, he was a part of KAMs horrible drafts and totally sucked ass as GM when he was with Indianapolis

I guess the question is how much KAM listened to his scouts.
Sure they reported on players, then the coaches added their opinions and then KAM ran the draft. It starts with the scouts, ends with the GM and held together by the coaches.
There was plenty of ‘surprises’ in this draft (and every other draft ever). Do I know better than anyone else? No way, but I have opinions like everybody else.

Yeah scouts do their job, tell GM and coaches what they found, coaches get their say, then KAM would do his numberhumping and make decisions, new GM has total control over the draft and roster according to the wilfs. I think shitcanning the guys KAM brought in as well as the longest tenured scouting exec was a good idea, the Vikings haven’t had a really good draft in over 10 years

Hopefully leaving early today. Taco Dowler football camp in the morning for my youngest, baseball game in the afternoon for my oldest, then at some point heading to the wonderful Minnesoviet Union to take my kiddo to a Twins baseball camp Monday-Wednesday.

Might be worth the trip for an LA Dodgers baseball camp.

Unfortunately they don’t play until the following week. We even got 4 tickets as part of the camp registration but will probably need to get back for little league playoffs. If his team loses out while we are there I may try to find a way to get home and my wife might stay for a few extra days to go to a game. Part of the registration also included a day at Target field and getting to meet a Twins player, but I think that will also be in two weeks, after we leave. I really wish they would have been more clear about all of it, but they still haven’t explained how the field day works. They said they will let me know today though so that’s nice of them.

Busy busy. As im learning more and more seeing my co workers with kids, nephews and now with the lady friend, kids sports sucks up a lot of time no matter who you are.

I agree the whole Twins ticket meet and greet sounds like a big part of that package but it wasn’t very transparent. Kid me would have been stoked for that.

Handful of recipes out there for Bud butter. Easy enough to make – time consuming but if you prep it’s manageable.

Hardest part is the decarboxylation – gotta break up (do not grind) and bake the bud for a bit. And that….. smells…. well, wonderful actually – but it draws unwanted attention. Unless you live rurally. I make most of my homemade edibles using my dad’s summer kitchen. And the butter is the main thing – my sister and I will use it to bake and freeze weed brownies.

What’s nice about homemade edibles is you can pump up the dosage – a requirement for an everyday smoker like myself. Otherwise the OTC stuff is to tame – and it’s a waste of money.

I might be driving a car of my soon to be ex-mother in law’s valuables to Gig Harbor, Washington in the next few months – it’s complicated (it always is) might have to plot a course through there as I’ll likely be driving a rental back.

Can’t help being curious about that Big Sky bud.

Learning curve was steep but my robot mower has now assumed the majority of the lawn mowing duties. I gave up on trying to make it mow the 30 degree slopes so I get them with my bicycle handle weed trimmer, and also don’t make it mow the mixed gravelly weedy grassy areas.

Their customer support is so nice, always asking if my health is good. Must be a China thing.

Yarbo.

It will mow for about two hours. 21 inch path, with a little overlap each pass. It’s fascinating to watch. However, there were times I wanted to return it the first two weeks but I’m finally getting the hang of it.

After what seems a week of rain, it is going to be sunny with a high of 77 here in western WI. It should be a beautiful day. It will be hard to get any work done.

Everyone take you happy pills and enjoy the day.

I wouldn’t expect KOC to say “he’s not ready” if he is not ready.
Everything is good is the standard line for every coach and team this time of year.

I bet he does very little in training camp.
No need to risk another foot injury.
