The big news in Vikings land is that Kyler Murray is coming to town. The former Cardinals QB is hoping to find a fresh start with the Vikings, where he will compete with J.J. McCarthy for the starting gig. This will be a great opportunity for the QB, and it will only help the team to have better competition, hopefully coaxing the best out of both quarterbacks. Murray signed a one-year deal for the vet minimutm of ~ $1.2 million, so if KOC thinks he can get something out of Murray, it’s well worth a shot.

Falcons DE James Pearce, a 2025 first round pick and a finalist for the AP 2025 NFC defensive rookie of the year, was charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor, per NFL.com. The charges stem from a February 7 incident between Pearce and his girlfriend, a WNBA player. Pearce chased the woman, struck her car with his car, refused to obey police, then intentionally ran over a police officer in an attempt to get away. He then crashed his car and tried to flee on foot. Yikes. Moral of the story: don’t date WNBA players.

Well I like DB’s that are over 6 feet and 200 lbs if they can run fast enough, and cover well. There are a number of big receivers and TE’s in the league now that are a handful for a 5’9″ 165 lb DB.
Agreed, all else being equal, bigger is better.

No way… first, it would be crazy if the Vikings sent him packing after all the hype. Second, what do the teams inquiring about him see in him? This would be a really weird outcome if they traded him.
Morning skolhomers. Woke up to a foot of snow on the ground, ick. Still snowing and blowing here in west central Wisconsin. I see I’ve got 2 foot snow drifts in front of my garage doors. Oh well, we knew it was coming, so my plow is on the 4-wheeler ready for duty. Gonna finish my coffee and tackle old man winter once again.

I’ve never owned a snowblower. My old residence was small enough that I could shovel everything. Now I have way more and need to have a plow. I’d die if I tried to snowblow my property now.
We had about 20 inches this morning. It is starting to snow again. Probably another 2-4 inches tonight. The neighbor had to come down with his small bulldozer as he got his pickup truck stuck.
Yes, I miscalculated. Once I went outside to clean up, I realized it was way more. 20 inches of snow and blowing gave me 4 foot snow drifts. My brother is my neighbor and he came over with his bobcat skid steer and helped me out. My 4-wheeler could not push it in spots.
Italy won and Japan lost yesterday in the World Baseball Classic. Italy and Venezuela will play for a spot in the finals and the USA will play the Dominican Republic for the other finals spot.
Japan had quite the meltdown and Italy continues to surprise and play well.

in honor of that, I’ll be smoking some pot. Which will make me pie-eyed.
Nephew rolling over later. He’s 13. He’s a Vikings hater. But he’s a bandwagon fan – his favorite team is Seattle (last year it was Philly, but only after they beat his last favorite team – Kansas City – in the Owl) he LOVES the Darnold dynamic (which legit stings) and mocks me endlessly. I love him, but I also want to drown him.
When I get to hang out with this little prick, we play Madden. He’s never beaten me – but he’s getting better, fast. He’s going to roll with Seattle & Darn Old Sam. I only play with Minny when we play.
This isn’t PS5 – he doesn’t have one, but I do. But he does have a PS4, which I also have. So we’ll be rocking Madden 25 when we play. I spent a good chunk of last night moving players around and setting up the rosters to reflect the current teams as best I could. I used roster data from Madden 26 to make adjustments.
I don’t know how things will play out with Kyler Murray in real life but I know how this game will go. I’ll move the pocket a lot to create clear throwing lanes, relying on Murray’s speed to buy time and if I see daylight I’ll move the chains with his legs. Heavy dose of Jets & Addison – he’ll come after me early and I’ll get plenty of 1:1 looks that I can burn with slants and crossers, the occasional screens. He’ll back off and I’ll ground and pound with Jones/Mason until he starts to creep the box – then the PA game for a shot play or two. Scoring points won’t be a problem.
He loves to throw deep and will try that early and often. I’ll pick my spots and come after him with Dallas off the edge. If I can build a two score lead I’ll switch to Hitman and play center field and create chaos near the LOS. He’s gotten better so I expect a better effort. I still intend on trouncing him, all the while making him sit in full view of my authentic Riddell Speed Flex Vikings helmet.
His biological father is a POS – woman beater, thief, idiot, shitty card player. But his real dad is Sam – my brother in law. And everything that’s gone on has taken its toll on my nephew as well. So we don’t just play Madden. We talk about life stuff. Girls. Guns. Kid loves to find antiques, junk stuff. Wears Tony Llama boots and loves to hunt, fish, get dirty. Tough kid.
I don’t have children – wasn’t in the cards for me. So he’s the closest I’ll get to a son, aside from Goose (and that dog ain’t going to college) so it’s nice to occasionally get to be the fun uncle. I usually have to be the heavy – a role I was born for – but today I get to be the buddy, the pal.
So today – after I whip his ass in Madden and after we get some pizza and after I have him move some boxes to my basement (young legs, strong back, I’m taking advantage of) I’m going to tell him to go to the garage and get the storage tote in the corner to take home for his mother to open tomorrow – it’s sealed pretty good – and when they open it they’ll find: a PS5 bundle. System, controllers, games (Madden/NCAA/Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto) and a 1 year PlayStation network subscription.
It’s the slow burn of things I love the most. By this time tomorrow he’ll likely be in tears, overwhelmed and not expecting it. Best part – Monday starts spring break – he’s off the whole week.

The most snow I ever had to shovel was 18 inches in Colorado Spring, Ft Carson to be exact. It was not something I wanted to do often but buying snow blowers while living in temporary military housing is suboptimal.

Murray brings only mobility as a positive. He is Deputy Dinkdunk, 95% of his passes are less than 5 yards, many are behind the LOS requiring the receiver to get yards.

Allen’s, DT new contract with the Bungals saves us Cap Space because of his ‘offset language’ in his Viking contract. So it looks like we will get $11.2M cap space after 1 June, although we might be able to use it sooner.

I trained men for combat. I was hard as shit on them. If they weren’t good enough, they were gone. I didn’t have the time, or the inclination to be understanding. Probably why I look at KOC sideways on this.

We are having some delightful spring weather here today and this weekend. Today the wind is howling with gusts up to 55 mph. Starting Saturday evening through Sunday night, we are going to have a major winter storm. The local tv station is saying up to 18 inches of snow. The local NOAA site says up to 30 inches. I’m hoping that whoever is forecasting for NOAA is on crack.

I’ve kind of noticed that the one guy on the NOAA site is very generous with snowfall totals. I’m expecting that whoever works days will be on soon and will revise that back down hopefully closer to the WEAU totals of 18 or less.

According to WEAU, at least for around here, the thickest band will be from a northern line by Balsam Lake, Chetek, Ladysmith down to a southern line by Arcadia, Neillsville. I forget where you said you are from, but I’m assuming you are not in that range then.

We are fairly close to the southern part of that band of snow, so I’m hoping the system drifts north and we get in that 6-10 inch band.
Now they are saying 15 to 27.
It was in the 60s yesterday, woke up to about 4 inches of snow that is supposed to keep falling until Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be in the 80s.
At least it will melt fast.

The poll up top is really kind of irrelevant, if they’d signed someone like Minshew, tyrod Taylor, or Jimmy g, it would be a question but the Vikings signed Murray to be the starter this year and potentially longer, the JJ experience is likely all but over unless the short stack has a major injury and JJ comes in and plays really well, which could happen. Also, Brosmer isn’t likely even on the active roster next year, let alone a candidate to start, lol.

I think this just lets KOC hedge his bets a little bit more with the most talented free agent QB. It affords him more time to prep JJM, but it’s not a good sign that he needs more than 2 seasons of that, though he is young.

Kyler is talented enough, and will make highlight reel plays, for us to make playoffs. That being so, and after the Darnold fiasco, no way they let him go.
Think JJ’s only chance is if Kyler gets hurt and JJ comes in and ‘really’ shines – and he doesn’t get hurt again.
Kyler getting hurt is a very likely thing, so it could happen
And JJ getting hurt is even more likely.
So both will end up hurt and we get to watch Brosmer again

I think it’s a matter of trying to keep his job, my guess is he’s fired if the Vikings miss the playoffs again. I think he sees Murray as the best chance to accomplish that.

My fear is that Murry shows just enough for the Vikings to be scared of another “Sam WInz Super Bowl” type scenario (even though it was the Seattle Defense and Run game ) and the VIkings super overpay for another team’s cast off. again. Like the last 10 years.

Regarding the crappy oline, it could be decent if darrisaw and O’Neill can stay healthy, Jackson missed a couple games last year but did not suck, especially for a rookie, like he didn’t even strip the ball from his own QB, fries was solid and didn’t get hurt. Kelly was very good the few games he played but unfortunately kept getting concussed. Four sports are set, I’m curious what they do at center.

Jurgens, or Brandel, who filled in when both Kelly and jurgens were hurt. Not much left in the FA market. It’s likely internal starter or a rookie.
