Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
The Vikings hired Nolan Teasley as their next GM. He was the only candidate with no ties to the Vikings as the guys from Buffalo and Denver were former scouts, the guy from the Rams worked with KOC, and obviously Bryzskinskskki has worked for decades with the Vikings. He comes from a scouting and talent evaluation background, so kind of the opposite of the last GM. He is reportedly well respected as a talent evaluator across the league. The Vikings essentially fired the guy who let Sam Darnold leave last year for the guy that signed him. I will be curious to see if he makes any additions or subtractions to the scouting staff, KAM added some data people but left the scouts pretty much in tact when he was hired.
Seattle will reportedly receive two 3rd round comp picks as Teasley is apparently a minority.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
So Teasley is a DEI hire?
What a long strange trip it’s been……
Or was just identifying as a minority to help him and the Sea Chickens get extra perks (comp picks) from Woke NFL??
Upon further research he is considered a Minority Hire because his dad was black.
Yep. And Native American.
Looks white to me.
All lives matter I suppose.
I see a lot of Eeyore today. There are days that he is my hero.
Makes me feel like an optimist
I didn’t realize this.
You can do this if you are really really good at scouting and drafting.
F dem pix!
Myles Garrett traded to the Rams
For Jared Verse, a 1st, and more. Yowza
The Rams got fleeced.
Dude just had 23 sacks.
Verse, while very good, had 7.5 this season.
Verse, while only playing two seasons, is also 25 years old (just 5 years younger than Garrett).
Garrett will be on the hook for a large portion of the cap though. Not sure how the Rams cap guy keeps doing this. I feel like they spend twice as much as everyone else each year.
But I was told that Verse is a Hall of Famer now!
Verse is good, Garrett is hof and potentially all time conversation great, no contest.
The rich get richer.
So I guess the most Vikings thing this season is that we will make the playoffs and proceed to get beat by Darnold and the Seahawks on their way to another Super Bowl, right?
Making the playoffs is a step in the right direction.
I think KOC has to win a playoff game this year. He’s been goofing around long enough. Time to get serious.
Agree with that.
Not winning a playoff game would make the Mighty Midget/JJ/QB situation much more interesting IMHO.
Who stays and who goes?? Maybe the Magic 8 Ball will help us make the right call this time.
If we don’t win a playoff game this year, I will be calling for KOC to be on the chopping block. Then he will go on to win a SB for another team and everyone will say “we never should have gotten rid of KOC”.
They will make the playoffs, lose in the first round, give Mighty Mouse a $60 million per year 5 year fully guaranteed contract, trade JJ, Kyler will be a complete bust and JJ will go on to win multiple MVPs and SBs.
Joy…
I’m surprised he would want to play with a racist QB.
We could have had him…
Illinois decided not to vote on the bill yesterday to keep the Bears in Chicago. Looks like they’re going to Hammond Indiana.
The Hammond Bears?
They will keep the name for marketing purposes.
Just like all those New York teams that moved to New Jersey.
Hmmmm… probably. But the Bears ownership might just get pissy about it.
I hope they do
Maybe we see “Da Bears” as their new moniker.
That would be great, they could get rid of the Bears mascot as well.
They could be the Hamm’s Beers instead.
Clever…
So here we are… the experts are prognosticating…
Doesn’t mean squat.
Correct
That look you make when you can’t figure out why someone would hang a wire right above the goal posts.
How did Justin do on his ranking last off-season?
Nobody mentioned the biggest news of the century?!
That sure made my day!
GLP-1 medication must not be on the list of banned drugs in tennis.
I almost mentioned GLP-1 too. Lol. Must have helped with training.
I know some diet pills are banned in the NFL. I can’t remember who but one of the Vikings got suspended one year, for taking a diet pill to help cut some weight.
That was his story anyway. I also remember a Viking player saying that he popped positive for alcohol because of kombucha, even though he would have had to drink like 150 kombuchas to reach the BAC he supposedly tested at.
Was it Kluwe?
Both Williams’ got popped for taking Star Caps.
Nice welcome gift for the new GM.
The Vikings are now just a bit over $13M under the cap. I think that is just enough of a reserve in case we lose a starter and have to bring someone in, mid season.
And here I thought we were in cap hell with no way out.
PHYRE THE GM!!!
Ray Berry dead at 93
might’ve been the greatest route runner in NFL history. If you get the chance, watch some of the old NFL films tapes on this guy. Johnny U’s favorite receiver.
RIP
RIP to one of the greats.
If the new GM was the best for the job, whatever I guess. I just hate the optics. We’re such a crappy franchise.
(And yes, I’m being negative on the team a lot lately. Just have reached that point.)
What’s the bad optics?
Signing the Seahawks assistant that (from the public’s perspective, but maybe not in actuality) helped sign the Super Bowl winning QB away from the last Vikings GM.
“You helped make the right choice against the last guy we fired. Can you come make those right choices for us?”
Seems smart to me.
And he really didn’t “sign the SB winning QB away” – we were just dumb and let him go.
Exactly. The “we” who let him go has clearly been communicated to be KAM. Now he’s gone for letting him go. You’re in because you helped make the right choice.
It’s just going to be a constant reminder of Vikings failure to me.
Seems like you are bending over to find things to be negative about.
Which is fine, you do you.
Could be.
This is for sure me as a Vikings fan right now, and as an NFL fan in general honestly.
MLB and NBA too.
Is ok, I was there after KAMs first draft.
Two quotes got me thru it.
‘This too will pass’ and ‘That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’.
It does make one make one move further away from the team emotionally for sanity and emotional reasons.
you can’t get much more vikings than the new gm hire….
let sam darnold walk, he helps get sam darnold there, wins superbowl, we hire him as gm.
my message to kam
After KAMs first draft
Watch him trade everything away to Seattle to make them better….
Like McHale did with KG to the Celtics for a bunch of scrubs.
Maybe this was the long game for the Wilfs. Let KAM hang himself by letting Darnold go and then hire the guy that signed Darnold.
I was never upset we let Darnold walk.
no one was, but hindsight has made us all the worlds best GM’s!!!!!!
‘I was never upset we let Darnold walk’
I wasn’t either, but I knew whichever way we went it would backfire on us because Vikings.
Sad that that prediction came true.
It’s about time I get some street cred.
I am okay with the new GM. Full speed ahead!
I am as well, he has actual talent evaluation experience
I know a Fulda dude who knows the Fulda dude that works for the Seahawks. I will see if he has any secondhand tidbits on Teasley.
He doesn’t have much at this time. He just said the Fulda dude and the Seahawks office really liked Teasley and were sad to see him go.
Fulda, somewhere you don’t even drive through to get where you’re going
Unless you are headed to Marshall from Jackson. Which by the way, there are about ten different ways to go, but the way through Fulda is the best.
I never thought of it that way, having lived in Marshall the furthest south I ever really went was Lake shetek
What is a Fulda, or do I want to know?
The ‘Fulda Gap was the best easiest way for the Soviets to invade Europe. It was heavily defended during the Cold War by NATO, AKA the USA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulda_Gap
I wish they had hired me, I would have given them a hometown discount, $1-2 million for two years. But, if we are looking to win, maybe they made the right choice.
I’d hire you.
If Cleveland can consult with a homeless guy, you have more background than that. Nothing to lose.
