Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Hey all! First things first, a very happy and belated Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Kiddo and I cooked for most of the weekend, we made our world famous seafood gumbo on Saturday, it was amazing, as always.

I’m sitting here watching game 4 of the Wolves-Spurs series, it’s looking like the Wolves are gonna pull this one off. I don’t know, there’s 9.8 seconds remaining, and that last 10 seconds can take 2 hours in the NBA. Ope, nevermind, it’s over, the T-Wolves tied up the series at 2 games apiece. The Wild handled business on Saturday, but are still down to the Avalanche, 2 games to one. We won’t mention the Twins, HOWEVER, my Atlanta Braves are gettin’ ‘er dun in the MLB.
I have another doosey of a cleanout coming up. I got a call from a Federal Agency that I hadn’t done work for before, the two companies they normally deal with won’t touch this property, so they called me to see if I’d tackle it. Hell yeah, I will, I’ve seen worse, and this could be a huge boost to the business. Here’s a couple pictures of the outside and the garage, I’ll share some pics of the inside once the home goes through the foreclosure process, it’s gonna be a challenge.

Vikings & NFL News
This is a HUGE boost to the Vikings WR corps. Jauan Jennings has signed a one-year deal with the Vikings, per CBS Sports. The Vikings have to have the top WR trio in football.
From Vikings.com, Kevin O’Connell is sure happy with having Jauan Jennings on the roster, and he says that fans will love having him, too.
Also from Vikings.com, Jake Golday is ecstatic with the next chapter in his football life, I’m REALLY excited for Golday, he’s got a TON of talent. Plus, his name reminds me of the song Feed Jake by Pirates of the MIssissippi.
Vikings.com also has 3 observations from Vikings rookie mini camp.
President Trump stated his displeasure with NFL streaming costs for fans as the league investigates the NFL’s antitrust exemption, per Fox News.
There will be a true competition between Kyler Murray & J.J. McCarthy for the QB1 spot in Minnesota, per NFL.com.
Sean Payton may look to add another QB to the roster prior to the season, per NBC Sports.

Ober had a great game today against the Marlins.
Complete game shutout, 2 hits, 7 Ks on only 89 pitches.
At least the Twinkies scored 3 run on 4 hits including a 2 run HR by Jeffers.
Probably just a bunch of BS, but it seems to be pretty slow today, so here goes.
Looks interesting. We’ll see if it’s right in two days.
Yes to the Lions on Thanksgiving, and the very late bye week and ending with the three home games to help the playoff seeding push.
Had the same thought, bye week a bit late probably, but the 3 home games to close out the season would be nice to have.
49ers is the closest game to me.
But there is no way I am going to the
BayGay Area.I can see why you wouldn’t go there.
I chuckled at this.
Since it is so slow I have a question for all the Trumpsters around here.
What in the hell is he doing?
Time is not on his side. Five weeks of ceasefire and no budge from Iranians on nukes. Ceasefire is now on “life support.” What does that mean, what now.
Gas prices are high, now affecting the price of goods. American consumers are not very happy!
What is he going to do?
‘What is he going to do?’
Keep the Iranians from getting Nukes.
All else is background noise.
How?
The only way is boots on the ground.
I doubt it happens.
We bombed the facilities and were told the nuclear threat was over. Now we have a war with no real end in site.
I’m surprised stocks are red. I thought that was a thing of the past and not allowed.
Actually the Dow is up close to 100 pts and flirting with 50k.

I’m not surprised.
Markets fluctuate.
Remember when tariffs would destroy the world?
Market tanked.
Then rebounded.
Market is pretty frothy high right now.
A pullback should be expected.
March/April has been crazy.
Well the Iranians have been “getting nukes” for how many decades now? This war doesn’t make much sense, unless for Israel, of course.
So we should wait until they get them and then act???
I think this “they’ve ALMOST got the nukes, this time FOR REAL” talk is pretty much the same as Saddam’s WMDs. Propaganda and Israeli marketing.
No, I sort of detailed the history above, but it’s massively involved and messy, with many, many attempts to reason with Iran and many agreements signed. Slowly over the last 40 years they have built numerous nuclear reactor sites, centrifuge sites, and missile development sites to construct a nuclear weapon, and a missile capability to deliver it. Last year it was clear they were very close to having the ability to construct 11 nuclear warheads and the ballistic missiles to deliver them. All those years of trying to reason with them, putting sanctions on them, and signing agreements with them were just window dressing to keep their program going.
The Islamic regime in Iran secretly began a weapons-related nuclear program in the mid-1980s after the Iran-Iraq war. It took some 15 years to build the infrastructure needed to produce enriched uranium and become operational. Iran’s nuclear activities remained mostly clandestine until 2002, when some dissidents blew the whistle on them. This resulted in a number of International responses and agreement attempts to limit them, and they entered into many oversight agreements that slowed their progress down. This included the 2016 agreement that resulted in Obama sending some $1.7B in cash to the Iranians. This was a key enabler for them, and the additional sanctions relief they garnered in the agreement gave them access to billions of more dollars. Even though they agreed to lots of things, they kept going and in 2018 we (the U.S.) realized that they were also building up a missile program to deliver nuclear warheads. We had stopped sanctions against Iran in the belief they were being honest about their nuclear ambitions, but we reinstated them based on our discovery of the missile program. By 2020โ2021, Iran ended its enrichment restraint and began enriching to higher levels than allowed. As of 2025, Iran’s nuclear program was far more advanced than a decade earlier, having expanded significantly in both scope and scale. It was recognized that they were extremely close to developing a functional nuclear weapon, that could be delivered via ballistic missile. The time had come to actually stop them in their tracks, and that’s what Trump did. He ended over 40 years of lies, and breached agreements that resulted in Iran being on the doorstep of having multiple nuclear weapons.
Not sure.
Hes likely getting impeached again in 2027.
Trump believes his continued blockade will eventually lead to Iran capitulating on the Nukes thing. That being said I would not be surprised if he blows a bunch of stuff up just because he is not happy with Iran’s response. I hope he does.
When Napolean went on his Russian Campaign, he won every battle yet lost the war.
Time is on the Iranians side. They could care if a million of their citizens starved and died. They only need to survive. Us, we’re upset over gas prices and the Iranians know this.
Even if he starts again blowing things up, I seriously wonder if that will work.
As DE suggests above, it will take boots on the ground to rid Iran of the fanatics. Doubt that will happen. So the regime will survive and they’ll be right back at it down the road.
And as an aside, The Republicans are going to get killed in the midterms.
JR, Arab countries are now bombing Iran. Not just us an Israel anymore. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait have been attacking Iran for a few weeks now behind the scenes. When did you ever see Arab Nations partnering with the U.S. to destroy an Islamic regime? Never that’s when. Trump has turned the middle East into our ally against Iran.
Great! Let me know when the Iranian fanatical regime is gone.
That noose is closing around their neck. The Arabs are pressuring Trump and Israel to finish the job. Can you imagine that? The Arabs want peace and prosperity in the region. Iran’s Islamic regime has been the singular force preventing that for 47 years. They’re sick of it. This is an amazing, historic moment.
So what are we waiting on?
Negotiating with that terrorist group of fanatics – their word is worthless.
Yes we need to put an end to this!
Let’s get about it.
Because Trump knows that inevitably there’s going to be collateral damage. The Iranian regime puts their military offensive and defensive systems in schools, hospitals, residential areas, shopping areas, industrial centers, etc. We have been pretty good at avoiding hitting civilian targets to date. Trump does not want to kill innocent Iranians… at all. Not one. So we’re doing some things right now to prep the battlefield as it were.
‘So what are we waiting on?’
Doing his best to limit the number of Iranian deaths??
Oh boy, some of the folks on here won’t listen to an ounce of truth if it is a negative truth against their Lord and Cheeto. It’s exactly as bad as the dumb dumb Dems who couldn’t see the truth about Biden being a shriveled up shell of a puppet.
These people literally don’t learn. WMDs, WMDs, WMDs, WMDs… with no proof of… WMDs. It’s sad really.
I think we see this differently.
I have no idea what the real extent of Iran’s nuclear capabilities were, but the error as I see it is under estimating what it was going to take to rid them of that ability.
It’s just the EXACT same playbook that Dickhead Cheney used and it turned out they didn’t have WMDs and it was a complete cluster fuck and has continued to be a complete cluster fuck but by all means let’s do it again.
For what it’s worth, at the time of that war, I said if there are no WMDs then the President should be impeached and top advisors need to go.
This is a different situation – they are telling us they have the material.
For what it’s worth, after 9/11, I didn’t care what Saddam had or didn’t have.
He needed to be taught a lesson about supporting terrorism and Bin Laden.
So just to clear this point of contention up Edge, the Iraqi’s not only had WMD, they used them. Mustard gas is a WMD. During the IranโIraq War, Iraq engaged in chemical warfare against Iran on multiple occasions, including more than 30 targeted attacks on Iranian civilians. So the claim that Iraq had no WMD is patently false.
MWD = Nukes, Chemical, Bio-weapons.
Now day people only think Nuke.
US policy is they are all the same and require the same response.
Correct… but the messaging went out that they had no nukes, so no WMD. A lie.
Edge try to pay attention….Iran’s own negotiators claimed they were close to having enough enriched nuclear material to make 11 bombs. It was shortly after that that Trump started bombing them…Now if that was a lie on Iran’s part it was a pretty stupid lie.
A politician using promises of mysterious, probably, maybe WMDs as an excuse for getting us into another quagmire of a war stinks to high hell. Especially when that politician ran on no new wars and that people before him would be weak and terrible negotiators if they ever went to war with Iran. Try to pay attention.
Edge, stop. We’re not in a quagmire. We’re ending a terrorist nuclear threat to the world. Arab Nations are joining in to stop Iran once and for all. This is an amazing victory for the world.
Trump is working the big picture, long term, across the board, globally. You apparently missed the fact that the U.S. now controls all the major waterway passages for oil distribution around the world. He’s making NATO take care of its own responsibilities, ending the war with Ukraine and Russia after ending 8 other armed conflicts, fixing the middle East by facilitating new peaceful relationships with the Arabs and Israel while helping to end Hezbollah and the Houthi’s reign of terror, throttling Russia’s and China’s economies to control them, garnering all the rare earth and strategic mineral rights we need to free us from Chinese control, producing and exporting more oil than we ever have, bringing in over $17T in new business investments, creating millions of jobs, bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariff revenue, dropping the the National deficit, lowering taxes, taking down the Maduro drug smuggling ring, freeing Communist Cuba, and the stock market is soaring. Oh yeah, he’s ending the Islamic terrorist regime in Iran too. What do you mean what is he doing? He’s working every damn problem in the world and making the country safer, more secure, more prosperous, and unwoke.
The US CONTROLS ALL the major waterway passages for oil and distribution? You sure about that? You sure about that? If so then why is the gas price so damn high if the US is in complete control?
I am. I bet you don’t even know what they are, and here you are challenging me? Hmmmm.
Gas prices are actually artificially high BTW. The gas that you’re buying today, was produced from oil that was purchased months ago. This is a market bugaboo that has always annoyed me. When the the global cost of oil goes up, gas stations immediately raise their prices, even though the gas from that oil won’t be in their underground tanks for months. Then when the cost of oil goes down, gas stations slowly decrease the cost. They are hoping oil goes back up, so they can once again immediately raise the price. It’s a blatant gouging game.
Remember Lyndon Johnson.
He did a lot of big and good things for the country. BUT, he made one major big time. mistake and how is he remembered.
Now, I think I’ve. got the big picture and I am all for wiping out that Iranian regime – JUST DO IT THEN!
Oh No!!
You mean Trump will lose his next election!!
Stay tuned for the midterms!
Trump has already said keeping Iran from a Nuke is more important than the midterms.
Yes he has. But let’s see what he says come November.
This may sound harsh, but I care little about Iranians and sometimes there are civilian casualties.
But I do care greatly about the prospects for this country if the Democrats gain control of both the House and Senate.
You are right, losing the mid-terms would be ‘Sooo Much Worse’ than Iran having a Nuke.
I didn’t say that – why did you suggest I did?
I said too bad for Iranian civilians and if Trump bombs the hell out of them and some civilians get killed so be it.
Getting rid of the nukes is a given. Getting about it and the radicals that want want one, is the issue.
No schedule leaks on the Vikings yet.
Isn’t it May 12th today?
Yep.
As you can see itโs a live list that gets updated as info is leaked.
Chiefs Broncos open Monday night.
I see the Broncos winning that one.
Hate the coach, but they have a decent team
They are due for a pullback.
They overachieved last year.
List of Possible New GMs.
I would prefer the Terrance Gray guy. Winning the draft would be a nice change of pace.
https://www.dailynorseman.com/minnesota-vikings-podcasts/96753/the-vikings-gm-race-is-tighter-than-you-think
Tell me what qualities you think a GM needs to be really good in the NFL.
the opposite of WRyck and Kwesi
I thought Rob did well with the Process of this last draft (obviously the players taken need a few years to evaluate). Building a consensus, working the contracts/finances, looking with scouts/evaluators for hidden gems, working with other GM on trades and such.
Parking his ego would be nice as well, ultimately what did in Rick and KAM IMHO.
A strong sense of horse trading is a fundamental I think is needed. I’m looking for a guy who always comes out on top like the Eagles GM Howie Roseman. Also an absolutely crystal clear vision for the organization, and a plan of action to achieve it. Contracts and cap management must be very strong. Consensus doesn’t matter at all. Results matter. Building a team that is in the mix for the Super Bowl every year matters. Winning matters.
‘Consensus doesnโt matter at all’
tell that to Rick and Zim, or to KAM for that matter.
The reality is, when dealing with humans, and human nature, you’re never going to get complete buy in on anything. You can’t please all the people all the time. You CAN earn peoples respect and trust though. They may not agree with you, but they trust you. Trust relationships are a key factor. Proving you have the chops to do the job, and win, is what it’s all about. The ability to run and organization and not worry about consensus is not arrogance BTW. It’s accepting the responsibility as the head decision maker, and knowing that is why you’re there. To run the organization and make decisions.
Consensus =/= ‘complete buy in’.
Ability to evaluate talent
That is certainly near the top of the list in my opinion Ben.
It says up top there will be a QB competition between Murray and McCarthy. What about Wentz?
Pundits are going to pundit. The chatter is always going to be about McCarthy, because they all crowed so loud about him, they can’t imagine he may be QB3 on the team this year.
Afterthought
Ok. Change the pictures on the thread pagesโฆโฆ
I really don’t want it to be Monday again.
Laughing… good morning VP.
Mornin… had a good breakfast today. Waffles and eggs. On my third cup of coffee, and wondering why we aren’t getting much news out of our rookie mini camp. Also wondering why Murray isn’t there throwing some balls to the new guys. Maybe he is and they just haven’t reported it. Dunno.
Wow, a thumbs down on breakfast. Stop being so controversial!
Laughing… waffles and eggs are very controversial. I mean breakfast is a really triggering event.
Apparently
‘waffles and eggs are very controversial’
It is Chicken and Waffles that I really don’t get.
Are you suppose to smother it with syrup???
I have done that yes. Great mixture of sweet and savory taste.
Not a big syrup fan so maybe that is why it doesn’t work for me.
We ran out of syrup once as a kid so my mom had me make some. Basicly take a bunch of sugar, melt it down, add a few drops of Maple extract, done.
Chicken and waffles big in the South, and smothered with syrup.
Not my thing, but two of my kids love it.
My grandpa refused to buy maple syrup. First ingredient is corn syrup, so he would just buy Karo corn syrup and use that.
Add a few drops of maple extract (or whatever you flavor of choice is) and it’s the same thing only cheaper.
We know people who tap and make there own syrup, huge difference.
Because itโs a rookie mini camp.
Veterans under contract with any team arenโt allowed to participate per the CBA.
Thats why Cooper Rush and Aidian Bouman were brought in.
That makes sense, thx
So why are other veteran QB’s on other teams at their rookie mini camps throwing balls to their new guys?
‘throwing balls to their new guys’
Maybe that is the way they roll.
No Kink Shaming.
Whenever you hear Obama, AOC, or any of the Dem’s talking about “single payer healthcare” remember this. In 1933 Adolf Hitler transitioned the health care system into a centralized, state-controlled entity. This system was designed to serve the regime’s racial policies, excluding and persecuting groups deemed undesirable, such as Jews and the disabled. The Dem’s love this Nazi plan to control the population through Government controlled healthcare. Once implemented, they own your life. They could decide anything they want.
‘Demโs love this Nazi plan’
But..but, I thought Trump was the Nazi?????
Remember what your mother said “whenever you’re pointing your finger at someone, you have three fingers pointing back at you”. The Dem’s always accuse the right of being what they actually are.
17 years old, and can throw a football. Hmmmm…
Laughing… yep…
I sure hope I get this contract from HUD. that cleanout will be a beast, but that could lead to some good things.
Good luck GF!
My 9 wood came in today so I went out and played 9 holes. Hit it exactly twice. Pulled off a good shot the first time, and a decent shot the second time. First one was on a par four. I was 153 out, and had to carry a marsh to get to a small green. Not the ideal first shot to try with a club you’ve never hit. Still I took a couple loose practice swings, got over the ball and focused on my target, and swung the club back smoothly while saying Alabama to myself during the swing. Went through the ball nicely, made good contact and the ball sailed onto the green. The second time was on a 155 yard par 3, and I popped it up a bit and ended up about 10 yards short, front edge of the green. Putted the ball to 4 feet, and made par. Shot a nice 41 and came home quite pleased with myself.
Nice round! I love my 11 wood, sounds like its about the same distance as your 9. The ball gets up in the air effortlessly. I have so much more confidence in hitting that than a 7 or 6 iron.
It really swings nicely. I am a high ball hitter anyway, but as you said, the ball comes off with a high trajectory and lands pretty softly. Got a “nice shot” from my playing partners on the first one. That particular hole is a tough one. Guys lose a lot of golf balls on it.
11 wood? Now you’re just making stuff up!
No Sir! I am not.
I am guessing I am one of the few golfers who has carried an 11 wood as part of his standard clubs and has also carried a 1 iron as part of his standard clubs…although about 30 years apart.
Wild stuff… Never heard of either. I thought 2 iron was as low as it went, along with 7 wood being highest. 9 was wild enough, but 11 wood… well that’s just something.
You don’t remember the old Lee Trevino joke about a 1 iron? He said whenever there’s lightning in the air, hold your 1 iron up, because even God can’t hit a 1 iron.
Haha, can’t say I heard that before.
I still carry, and use, a 1 iron. Great for punching out and getting a good long run. I also can slice a low, line drive, on demand, getting 150+ yards with it.
It also is handy looking for my ball in the slbushes, getting my ball out of the water, and scaring off snakes
Those are all valid uses.
I used it for teeing off, couldn’t hit my driver for shit but could hit the 1 iron around 235ish and straight.
Nice round.
As I’ve noted 9 wood is money. You mention you popped up your second one a little bit – but you were still putting. Do that with a 5 iron and you won’t be.
The nice thing about the 9 wood, you can hit it a little heavy, or a little thin, toe or heel side, and still get a pretty good outcome.
NDR mentioned an 11 wood. That has my interest. The average am simply cannot hit the ball too high coming into greens.
I noticed the effects you describe with my 7 wood. Hit it a little thin, or a little heavy and still get decent results. Decided to try the 9 wood, and as you noted I got good results on a slightly mishit shot. My game is built around hitting decent shots. Decent distance, decent direction, and put a wedge in my hand, is how I play. This 9 wood feels good when I swing it. Looks like it’s gonna work out.
BTW how about Rickie’s round yesterday? Came from 7 shots back to tie for second.
Yeah for sure…..even when I miss hit from 155 because I pull my front shoulder out before impact because I am a dumbshit, it often will just result in a low fading liner that still ends up getting close to the green.
Laughing… I think being a dumbshit is a basic qualification to be a golfer.
Was watching a video about a month ago and guy (pretty good) was hitting a 7 iron versus 11 wood test. Hit about 10 balls with each and the 11 wood beat the hell out of the 7 iron.
Got me thinking.
Missed Rickie as I was flying back from visiting my son.
Nice thing about 7 and 9 woods, you can still get good results with mishits. There must be something to this as a hell of a lot tour players now carry them.
And for most all ams, you can it one of this fairly long distance and still get the ball to stop quickly in tight spots on greens.
The green I hit yesterday over the marsh looked like the size of a Queen size bed.
Good for him.
Dude hooked me into locking in as a Vikings fan for life. Will always be my Vikings GOAT.
Off-field issues aside, I loved how he played the game (minus the fumbles).
Yeah well 6 to 7 kids from 5 or 6 different women…..there but for the Grace of God…….
If only they had something available to prevent the insemination of fertile women…hmmm…what a great business idea!
Yeah but you never know….they may have “told” him they were on the pill – gold digging whores – when all they really wanted was a money baby….He should have been using a condom every time!
That’s a good point, actually.
Leave fertile women out of this, they had nothing to do with it.

Pulling out isnโt 100% effective?
Doubt he was even doing that.
He carried that team to the playoffs in 2012.
Ever feel anger towards him at times too for that? lol
A fair question.
Nah, not yet anyways.
AD had an amazing career in Minnesota, got screwed out of an entire season by Goodell.
Politics always trumps common sense sadly.
Good for All Day.
The good:
Elite, electrifying runner that could go around you, thru you or past you. Best stop/start acceleration Iโve ever seen. Literal threat to score every time he touched the ball.
The bad:
Too many fumbles (especially in big games/moments)
Awful in pass protection. Just terrible – and it still makes no sense. Big, physical guy. Strong as a bull. Relishes contact. Youโd think heโd be a natural to light up blitzers on passing downs. Nope.
*Still the greatest RB Minnesota has ever seen. His 2,000 yard season is even more impressive when you know he got a good bulk of those yards while dealing with a sports hernia.
Might be the worst interview ever – behind only Bo Jackson.
* Had one season stolen by Goodell, and lost a good chunk of another to injury (his last year in Minnesota) not unreasonable to think he left another 2,000+ yards on the field.
Mjolnir, agree 100 percent with your take.
Also on the bad, dude just wasn’t good out of the shotgun. Just a pure runner. I think pass pro and shotgun running requires more unnatural skill development where downhill SMASH running just made absolute sense to him.
Edge I forgot about that…he was much less effective running out of the gun.
Nickname…..
T……Rex
Usually they move ‘short armed’ collage OTs to OG in the NFL.
We can use him regardless.
Probably not as a holder on field goals though.
Heโs probably not very good at hugging, either.
Usually but he’s 6’8 yes? That’s a very tall guard to see over, especially for the vertically challenged Mr. Murray
I brought up that very point previously and was told ‘there are no midget OL in the NFL’ so he can’t see over any of them.
Well the thing people are missing is those inches matter. When you are looking over someone’s helmet vs someone’s shoulders that’s a big difference as far as seeing down the field.
โInches matterโ
I knew it the second I posted it, I almost did the reply for you guys lol.
Name of your sex tape
Vertically different*
Vertically abled?
I like that one
I can already envision the PFF and talking head criticism about being beaten at the line because of his……Short Arms.
You’d think some enterprising gouger would offer him lengthening osteotomies.
Either that or they could do something surgically to lengthen his arms.
LOL. That is quite the anthill you have to deal with in the pics up top.
Well at 326 lbs there is going to be some fat no matter what.
Too much is bad of course.
Hopefully he doesn’t get fatter and slower because all he is doing is riding a bike.
They cut his foot off yet?
Iโm sure itโs on the tableโฆ.
From the Mythical Words Up Top. I don’t think the NFL is investigating itself.
‘as the league investigates the NFLโs antitrust exemption’
Oh and of course FTP!
Youโre supposed to read what I mean, not what I write.
That is what The Teacher tells me all the time.
‘Listen to what I mean not what I say’.
had an interesting thing happen to me on friday. I was driving my a park on my way to work and a woman was waving her arms and such so i pulled in and rolled down my window and she told me to call 911 because she was going to kill herself. and she kept saying i will walk into traffic and kill myself etc etc…
So i did what anyone would do, i called her bluff and left her…
jk, i called 911. and as we waiting, she kept getting more and more agitated and i kept wondering if she had some sort of weapon on her etc…
cops came. ambulance came. fire truck came. and i left
Chick wanting attention.
Glad you gave it to her, not sure I would have.
Possibly, but mental illness is a serious issue in this world and unfortunately too many people just blame it on someone needing attention.
Yes I worked in a Prison for 20 years and have seen both sides.
There it is easily 80-20 the inmates gaming the system. In Commiefornia it is not much better. That undoubtedly skewed my perspective.
i didn’t think she was actually going to kill herself.
but i also wasn’t going to play the game of “she isn’t going to” and leave. maybe she needed help. maybe she didn’t. my great minnesota taxes are going to pay for that ambulance ride no matter what so figured it wasn’t worth risking letting her hurt herself.
That is WILD! The, so I left her part gave me a giggle though. Good on you for staying with her even though… yeah could have had some kind of weapon possibly for sure.
Perchance did you get her number?
You shouldโve told her that you killed yourself once, and it wasnโt worth it.
I wouldnโt have stopped
(I donโt get involved)
I have a hard enough time dealing with that crazy person in the mirror every day.
Maybe get a different mirror…
Thatโs a hell of an idea. Iโll try anything twice.
That reminds about LFA banging the homeless women at the Jack in the box in Sacramento, hopefully heโs doing well
The NFL schedule dropping Thursday, so we got that to look forward to.
I bet the Packers get a favorable draw again. Funny how that happens each year….
Yeah, no overseas games, playing at home in December, every advantage possibly imaginable.
For a second I thought you meant they were dropping Thursday night football, then sanity returned.
Why would the NFL do something good for the game, but bad for the pocketbook?
Agree…Thursday night football has to go. Mondays and Saturdays are o.k., but Thursday’s have to go.
Long post, but it is Monday morning, and it isn’t like anyone is working too hard. This is about the “redistricting fever” that both parties have caught. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts (well most everyone) on the topic.
I see only 2 valid reasons to redistrict and current “fair” district alignment:
Any other reason is purely politically motivated and wrong.
One possible solution I would like thoughts on. Why not have all congress members be “at large” in there state? So if a state has 7 representatives, why not have everyone statewide on the ballot, and each voter gets to vote for ONE. Then the top 7 get to represent that state in Congress.
One potential downside is there would be no geographic balance, but with some of these current redistricting “spider maps” there is no true balance anyway. The state could then assign each of the 7 winners to a local district as their primary rep. This day and age, that rep is rarely in the district anyway, so an office gets maintained by a staffer.
I likely overlooked something, but simple is usually better. And nothing can be worse that then political and legal bickering all being done to rig elections (by BOTH parties)
Based on what I understand in your post, I don’t like it.
Large cities would then have control over the entire State with ranked voting.
That’s not really a constitutional republic imo.
Dems have had crazy gerrymandering advantage over the last 40 years.
It’s now coming back to bite them.
Yes it is wrong but the Supreme Courts allow the states to do it.
Looking at New England and the blue states have been doing it for years (see 9-0 Dim Reps in Massachusetts for example). The GOP finally wised up and started doing more of it as well which triggered this political battle.
I don’t see a way to end it since it is political. Red states will become more Red and Blue States are working to become more Blue, at least in their representation.
As DE mentioned, then all of the reps would come from big cites. The district I live in is mostly rural and agricultural. It is also one of those weirdly set up district so that it can have some bigger cities snuck into our district, which often makes it lean left, just because of the big cities. Whoever represents our district should really be someone that has either lived or was somehow involved in farm and/or small city life so our values can be represented.
That is a fair point. But with the gerrymanderimg that occurs, we probably get the same urban influence. For example, 5 of the 8 districts in Indiana (the ones away from Chicago) all snake their way up to indianapolis
I kind of hate it.
This issue has certainly become a huge issue and I have no good. idea of how to solve it. It’s complicated.
I very much believe the Feds should stay out of it – it’s a state’s right issue and I don’t want people from NY telling us what to do down here in Florida.
And as DE has said, I believe while your idea has merit it seems the big cities, like Philly and Pittsburgh, would have more influence simply because they have more people.
Take the state of Virginia – believe they voted 52 – 48 in last election and have a 11 to 10 part split in the house. Not sure how they got to that, but the split seems about right. Now, there latest scheme is just flat our wrong.
There must be a reasonable answer to this, but I’m not sure what it is. But I am completely certain if finding the “right” solution is left to politicians, it will NEVER be found.
They’re all corrupt and are grifters, knowing how to game the system and stay in power.
The gerrymandering bullshit on both sides is so irritating.
How about let’s do it this way in every state, I will use Pennsylvania as an example.
They have 17 reps, a population of 13 million. That is one rep for every 765,000 people.
Start in the southwest corner of the state. Start expanding a box by dragging the north east coroner up and right until the area has 765,000 people. Then start the next box immediately above the first one and do the same thing. Work your way bottom to top and right to left across the state drawing the districts in neat boxes with the only criteria being the population of each area. Of course the large metro areas might get split into 4 of 5 minnie boxes but thats o.k. just use straight geography and population to get this done.
That is supposed to be the premise.
But in every square there could be a larger city that dominates the district.
Nothing will be perfect of course.
I’ve always felt using the county lines as a reasonable map.
I like how it’s only now a problem when one side starts doing it more (it has been happening for many years, like DE says at least 40+ almost all by D’s, especially in the NE).
Correct. Many of the changes being made now are simply undoing the basically illegal and unfair moves made in the past.

Damn last again……
