With the FIFA drama the last day or so, I am reminded of why I hate officiating that is subjective. Guy for US gets red card, has to leave game and cannot play in next game. Someone calls FIFA and now that decision is changed. Today’s opponent is “outraged” but really should have no say IMO. What about the team that was so egregiously fouled that was defeated even with a shorthanded USA team? I wonder what they think about the Red Card and the overturn. Once officiating gets involved, most sports suck. NFL officials have been ruining games in my lifetime since Drew Pearson pushed off.
Since things are slow NFL wise, this could be another weekly thread.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Well Friends, today is my last day of work. I have worked for the same company for nearly 37 years now. ONTO RETIREMENT!
Congratulations! Enjoy retirement.
Thanks, Florida, I intend to…
You Go Boyyyyy!!
You have reached the ‘Promised Land’.
Thanks man.
Congrats on 37 years at the same company.
Super rare.
Must have been a very good or very small company.
Companies wonder why employees are no longer “loyal”, while dropping pensions and benefits and massively taking advantage of each downturn in the economy to lay off higher paid people and hire cheaper talent.
Honestly, we were a small and family friendly company. I was forced into engineering this merger with a larger company. All of my employees kept there jobs but they hate it. They say “With our old company we were valued employees and humans, with this new company we are revenue generating widgets”.
Congrats
Nice
Congrats!
37 years. Holy sheet.
My longest tenured company is 14 years.
5 more months for me.
22 years for me, Army.
17 years at the Prison.
Somebody got street cred happy.
A few people believe it actually means something.
It’s probably GoPack2025, or as we all know him Freezyface.
Would you rather:
Would you rather have JJ or Kyler start the season?
Why not both?
Kyler can throw to JJ (WR).
My bad, I thought QBs were suppose to throw to WRs.
No, they are supposed to throw to a TE short of the sticks on 4th and 8.
I would rather have JJ start, this means that JJ is better than Kyler and is ready to be the QB of the future.
If Kyler is the better QB, he should start. The caveat to this, is we still won’t know if JJ is the QBOTF. If we start JJ and he fails or gets injured, we know we need to move on. Kyler is only a one year rental, I don’t see us signing him to an extension.
JacksonV, you make perfect sense. If Kyler has a great year, will the vikes ante up money for him long term? I doubt they shell out north if 40 mil a year for him. My logic says JJM has played 9 games, been hurt twice, concussion once. We dont know if he is the QBOTF or a bust. Gotta find that out this year
JJ.
My fear is they start Kyler, and he plays well enough, and the new GM is afraid of replicating the Sam Darnold thing and overpays Kyler just like the team overpaid Kirko.
If they do start Kyler, I know at least that at some point we will see JJ this season.
I am no longer satisfied with the Vikings making the playoffs. That is no longer enough, we need to build a team that is capable of winning a superb owl.
Kyler may be able to get us to the playoffs and possibly win a playoff game. I think that is his ceiling. It may also be JJ’s ceiling, but we will never know if we leave him on the bench.
I’d rather JJ start, which would mean he took a yuge step forward and is future, but based on the preponderance of evidence it’ll be Murray
No opinion.
Neither will be starting in 2027 imo.
I was thinking about starting some rumors just to have something to talk about……..
That works quite well often and can be quite entertaining as well.
I heard Freezyface bought a lake house in Wisconsin and has become a Packers owner.
That’s cool. I’ll bet as an owner he can get us tickets to Vikes @ Pukes
He probably can, but lake house people rarely consort with plebs.
I had to do some actual work stuff for a few hours, but I am back for a little while.
Now I need to do some actual work stuff.
It’s finally Friday, let the good times roll.

Alright,
I’m getting ready to submit my retirement papers.
I’ve had enough BS.
I’m done at the end of the year unless they pay me stupid crazy money.
Congrats.
I found work much easier to put up with after I submitted my paperwork.
They didn’t have time to do ‘progressive discipline’ so unless I did something that broke a law they couldn’t really do anything to me.
It was glorious to tell supervisions/admins exactly what I thought of them and their policies.
Enjoy.
Well done.👍
grats!
Poor planning and some medical bills have me working until 73 at least….
You deserve it!
My first job, i had an older mentor. He was somewhere in his 60s, short, thin, smart, and eccentric guy. He got fed up one day, and gave his 2 week notice. In his HR exit interview they asked why he was leaving, and he said, “isn’t it obvious?”. The young HR lady was a bit thrown and said, “well, i have to enter a reason you are leaving into the system”. So he stood up and said “look at me, it is obvious”. The lady said, “i dont understand, why are you leaving”. He held his hand near his chin and said, “look at me. I am 5′ 7″, and the shit is up to here. If i stay any longer i will drown”
Yesterday I started filling out my social security application. I’m not sure I’m going to start drawing yet, but if I decide not too, I can just let the application expire.
I can’t say I disagree with KOC being on the list.
https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/1122041/5-nfl-coaches-hot-seat-2026-nfl-preview
He should be on the hot seat.
But I don’t think he truly is unless they go 6-10 or worse.
But with a new GM and mostly Kwesi’s roster, I think KOC has two years before he is truly on the hot seat.
2027 is the year imo.
‘Hot Seat’??
No, don’t see that.
Warm Seat??
Ok, more likely.
he’s in a weird spot, new GM will probably want his own guy at some point but the team will have to have a disaster season for the wilfs to fire him, they likely win 9-11 games this season and he doesn’t go anywhere
While on my vacation/trip to see relatives we overnighted in Lake Tahoe and had dinner at the Ballys Casino there. The sports book there had the Vikings as 4th in the NFC North.
Loins +160
FTP +230
Bores +320
Vikings +510
Now the NFL has posted their Over/Under at 8.5 wins.
I would take those bets if I had access to a Casino or was willing to trust On Line Betting.
8.5 over/under is an absolute no bet for me.
That’s like the Vikings every year. 8 or 9 wins.
Way too risky.
I will check out DraftKing over/unders.
I picked the Patriots last year as over 7 wins.
I like those kind of bets if the line appears way off.
I don’t bet to make money.
I bet for entertainment and to provide extra motivation during the season.
If I was going to risk my house’s title on the bet I might be more cautious.
“I don’t bet to make money.”
So if you do win can I have it?
4 Super Bowl losses have taught me not to bet on anything that I dearly care about.
Sure if I win some small bet I will fax you the winnings.
Cool.

It’s supposed to be 110 here on Saturday. Summer is definitely not over.

Summer is not close to being over.

Top 5 Vikings QBs that never were.
No Teddy??
Or does he fall under almost ‘Almost Was’?
I was on the fence for defining him – but he had 3 seasons as a starter, so more than a ‘never was’. Keenum almost didn’t make my list since he had an amazing year, but Zim never gave him a real chance.
But yeah, what could have been……….
I liked Keenum well enough, but remember calling him a “Noodle armed Farve wanna be” and I stand by that. I never thought 2017 would end well, and it did not.
Sadly, Kirko was the result.
Keenum is a backup at best, as are all 5 listed.
SLOTERGOAT wins the hype battle for me. Dude was fun to watch in pre season games.
Mond #1, he was drafted in the third round and sucked completely
It’s Thorsday!

* I know you think it’s wrong. But TO is top 3 in yards & td’s and top 10 in receptions. He belongs here. If nothing else to offset the absurdity of you adding Ocho Cinco to your list. 😉
My biggest issue with TO is his stone hands. Dude has so many dropped balls that google doesn’t even know.
I thought about Chris Walsh, he was a beast, I remember him finishing a game with a broken jaw. But, I considered him more of a STs stud.
Ocho Cinco was a dynamic receiver, even though he was a head case.
I think the drops were an issue early. The infamous playoff game against GB – dude couldn’t catch a cold shirtless in a blizzard. But then he kinda redeemed himself by catching the game winner and getting his shit rocked in the process.
I don’t remember an issue with drops beyond that – but it could be so.
What I remember is a very willing blocker and a guy who never took a play off. Moss, as much as I loved him, absolutely took plays off. TO’s SB performance on a barely healed busted leg is incredibly impressive to me. He was the best player on the field that day.
Ocho was talented no doubt, I just don’t remember a single dominant moment or game where he took over – aside from sideline shenanigans. I think TJ Hoosyomomma was a more complete receiver and Chris Henry had more talent.
No Jefferson?
He will eventually, still too new.
You never know, he could be traded to the Puckers next year and go on a run of superb owls.

You have Favre in your list of favorites, but not in your list of favorite Vikings.
Yup.
It wasn’t an oversight.
Appreciated Favre’s 2009 season. Great run. Lots of fun. 2010 was a shitshow.
But the reality for me is I had more fun watching George in his 12 starts as a Viking than I did watching Favre play in Minnesota. I remember that season fondly – beat the Cowboys twice that year (once on MNF 3 days after I turned 21 and I watched that game in a bar full of Cowboys fans) and got beat in a shootout by the Greatest Show on Turf in the playoffs.
George was a head case – but he’s one of the best throwers of the football I’ve ever seen and arguably had the strongest arm in league history. He’s on a long list of guys who should’ve done more.
I can see where you’re coming from. Favre was a shell of his former glory when he came to the Vikings. ’09 was a special season.
I am not going with “greatest” , bit with those i loved watching. In no particular order:
Elway

‘Kirk Cousins is ass’ fits right in with Griffs mental health struggles.
It is Tuesday after all.
Nah he was on the straight and narrow there
Having to play with Kirk is what gave him substance abuse problems.
Wrong! Mental health issues are what gave him substance abuse problems. (Or vice verse). Playing with Kirk may or may not have been a contributing factor.

Well done to Belgium, they were clearly the better team on the pitch.
I’m going to bandwagon for Norway now
expected result. I watched for 10 mn in the second half. Doom.
Agree on Norway.
Didn’t see the game, but Belgium seems to have dominated the US. Ah well, your team played a great tournament.
Agree on Norway, I won’t mind England winning that one as well though.
I felt like i was watching a Viking playoff game
glad I only watched 10 minutes. USA looked severely outmatched
Exactly.
Way to curse Norway…..
Norway defeated Brazil 2-1
Play next v England
I needed some background sound on the other day and I couldn’t find a baseball game so I turned on the NFL network and they were broadcasting old Super Bowl games. It was nice to listen to football. It was real nice to have football on when it was nice out and not dark and cold.
Football in September and October just feels so good. Perfect weather.
FIFA, being as corrupt as they are, still made the right decision, and agreed with my mythical words up top…
FIFA issued a statement obtained by The Athletic. It said in part, “the RBFA (Royal Belgian Football Association) is not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision.”
I really, REALLY hope USA wins tonight.
I actually am quite interested in watching. Cant believe im saying that about soccer.
Same.
Yep.
AND that Balogun scores.
I want full blown TDS throughout the world!!
And to further your ref post, Messi is on tape spiking a guy in the calf on purpose, and there was no card for that.
So it’s all subjective.
That should have been a red card
I watch soccer nearly every weekend and I’ve been catching as many World Cup matches as I’m able.
FIFA is the singularly most corrupt sports organization in world.
that said I was watching the US match v Bosnia when Balogun drew the red card.
The challenge itself wasn’t reckless and should have drawn a yellow card, not red.
FIFA deciding to reverse the decision makes them look like even more corrupt clowns.
Yes, I’m watching the match tonight, winner faces Spain on Friday
I have watched a lot of Soccer with the WC, but mostly because the US is still alive.
If they lose tonight, I likely won’t watch another game until the championship.
Something to ponder over lunch today…….
We play football, baseball, softball, volleyball, dodgeball, and basketball.
Why don’t we play golfball, soccerball, tennisball, bowlingball, lacrosseball, or hockeypuck?
Because we are not going to play foot, base, soft, volley, dodge or basket.
Asking the real questions
The world may never know…..
Morning all, figured I should let everyone know what’s going on.
I went to Maryland and cleaned out my storage unit which was a lot of work for an older gent. On the way home, I got a call from the the hospice folks caring for my sister, who’s 78. She’s bedridden, and not in very good health. So I got home, unloaded the truck with my wife, and turned it in to the rental place, then got back on the road to Myrtle Beach. I spent two weeks with her as she was struggling. We really expected her to pass, but she recovered. I came home last Friday night. I’m tired, but OK.
I did see some posts here when I was at my sisters, so I’m aware of the commentary regarding me. All’s good, and I consider the source on all those negative posts. GF did an awesome job providing this site for us, and I thank him for that. I’ve enjoyed being here, and exchanging views with folks. That said, I’m fine without it. It’s not remotely my whole world or anything.
SKOL and FTP! Hope we have a great season.
Adieu
We will miss you presence. Of course, we are pretty accepting, and unless someone is a complete <÷?@#, we miss them.
Best of luck with your sister
Thank you PA. I’m afeared she is not long for this world, but for now she is at least not on the verge of passing. Appreciate the kind words and sentiments.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad your sister is doing better.
Thank you VP… appreciate that very much.
I am grieved that you are leaving….didn’t agree with you on everything but I appreciated you could back up your opinions.
You’re a good egg NoDak… keep these jackwagons straight for me.
Prayers for your sister, NLNVF. That is a tough situation.
I hope you come back, always enjoyed the commentary.
Going to assume that your future absence will be related to family issues and it’s not a goodbye – that doesn’t track. Criticism has never stopped you. You’ve not been banned or asked to leave (that I recall, I smoke a lot of dope and been hit in the head a lot, so I may have missed something) not that you’d leave if you were asked, too stubborn. It’s part of your charm.
Appreciate that you’re always open to debate and understanding that disagreement doesn’t need to be personal.
Hope your sister pulls through, glad she’s got someone to guide her into the great beyond when the time comes. She’s lucky to have you, I’m certain you feel the same about her.
Another round of thank you’s for your support and prayers for my niece – again, we’ve not always agreed, but your genuine thoughts and wishes are appreciated. It’s not, nor does it have to be personal.

oh, hi Rob!
Sorry to hear about your sister.
Nobody asked you to leave, nor would we want you to.
Some of us did enjoy not being corrected for our opinions. That was it. Like a mini vacation. JRob decided we were being mean. I can be very childish, and find things funny that others may not. I do apologize if a line was crossed.
Welcome back, and you are proving to be a very decent human by taking care of your sister, and your actions do speak louder than words. Probably always been that way.
Kirk still sucks

Surly you jest… sorry, had to throw that out there, just once.
All is well here. I’m a very hard man, and might be too hard at times. Just how I grew up, and my career. My sister is so weak, and I know one day the hospice folks will call me again. I begged her to come down to Tampa, but she refused. Wants to die in her own home. I get it, but it’s a tough pill to swallow. I will be driving up there every few weeks, just to spend time with her. It’s a long drive for me, but it’s the least I can do.
I’ve always enjoyed our exchanges, and if I was over the top at times, I do apologize. Like I said, it’s sort of in my nature to be a hard ass.
All the best
Sorry about your sister.
I hope you and your family find peace and comfort in the remaining days ahead.
I pray that Jesus surrounds you and her and that she accepts his grace.
That is quite beautiful DE. Thank you.
Hey man, good to read that you are OK. Sorry about your sister, unfortunately that’s the one single guarantee we all have in this life… that we all will move along and leave this plane of existence one day.
Hope to read you soon again, wouldn’t do if you’d leave for good. Cheers mate 🍻
Glad to hear you are doing ok.
Sorry to hear to hear about your sisters struggles.
New Thread Yay! We are ONE month from the HOF Game, which as well all know is barely a football game but it does signal the start of Football from then until Feb so its always exciting.
Who is everyone’s favorite Vikings TE?
Steve Jordan was my favorite for many years. Kyle Rudolph might be my all time favorite.
Kleinsasser
I always thought of him as a full back that played TE sometimes. But, I did like what he brought to the team. I always got excited when they actually threw the ball his way.
Was listed as a TE – but I’d agree with the FB assessment. Early H-back is fair. Thought he was a helluva blocker and brought a lunch pail attitude.
I have to say Joe Senser because I worked for the guy in the mid 80s and he was a really good person to work for.
His restaurant GM on the other hand….
Senser was fun to watch, back in the day. I never made it to his restaurant. Was it any good?
Kind of typical sports-bar food for that era.
I absolutely loved the grilled cajun chicken sandwich and waffle fries with seasoned sour cream.
Plenty of good apps, etc.
Burgers were decent enough. Large tap beer list for the time, but nothing like what you see now.
Did you ever meet his wife?
As Chris Berman would say, “Steve Jordan, of Brown Umiversity”.
Luke Stocker.
Same here. Steve Jordan and Rudy.
