Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we donโt want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You donโt need to agree with everyone, you also donโt need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We donโt want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, thatโs why weโre here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Holy shit the stock market when up yesterday!
For various financial reasons, I need to withdraw a large chunk out of my 401K between June 6th (when I am 59.5) and the end of the year. I wish I could take it out now, cause I am skeptical it is going to stay this high…but you never know….
I should attend this…
Probably in DC.
Not going there or NYC even if I had a free ticket.
Definitely in D.C.
Damn is it really necessary to put each other down or attack each other personally!
A lively debate is mostly healthy.
NLNVF is not a snowflake and can take care of himself. I have had multiple lengthy discussions with him that got a little heated but I still consider him a friend, or at least a ‘friendly poster’.
I see some comments that seem over the top but those, to me at least, reflect more on the character of the commenter than they do on the person that they are trying to smear.
There’s “lively debate” and there’s “personally attacking someone” – and we all know. the difference.
Whether NLV is a big boy or not, is not the issue.
Why should anyone who contributes here have to endure being “smeared”?
‘Why should anyone who contributes here have to endure being โsmearedโ?’
It is the internet. It is the reality of what happens, free speech and all of that.
We all have options, ignore it, argue it, or take yourself out of the game and let the Trolls win. Or I guess one could go to the DN where the ‘Speech Police’ decide what can be said and what can’t.
It’s not me.
At the top of this page it states – “don’t need to make it personal.”
Also, “attack the argument , not the poster.”
“Treat each other with respect.”
Those aren’t my rules or guidelines.
I simply assume whoever wrote them, meant them.
NLNVF attacks me personally.
Hes just as guilty as others.
He has called me a liar several times.
I donโt lie.
That is last thing anybody who knows me would accuse me of doing.
NLNVF is flat out rude to some people.
Two wrongs don’t make a right (Bow, that’s plagairized but I have no idea who said it to give them credit.)
Everyone should stop the personal attacks.
Then call him out when he launches personal attacks.
Make you a deal. You call out Kfey with his personal attacks and I’ll call out NLV.
Fair enough?
Keep it going Minnesota. You’re doing great at making California look good.
So that is at the State level. I wonder if the DoJ can investigate her and subpoena all those records?
Well Duh. The Dims have to protect their Somali voting base.
Is the Somali base that big? And besides, where are they going to go – vote Republican
He might give JD a run for his money to follow Trump. I liked him when he last ran, think he was too young, but he’s starting to put things together and has never waivered from the right ideals.
He is very solid and is one heck of a Secretary of State. Would make a great candidate.
Those two and DeSantis is a great governor, not so good a candidate. The right has a deep bench.
So NLNV doesn’t need my defense, nor does he ask for it.
Several here take exception to some of NLNV takes, especially related to Kirk Cousins, and I understand that.
Today, NLNV posted a story that I agree skirts on the periphery of believability.
Many have therefore decided NLNV must have lied about the story….and they could be right.
I believe NLNV. He has posted here several years now and has not been caught telling any lies or posted wild exaggerations – although the part that he is married to an incredibly attractive fitness lady is too date unproven.
He posts a lot about his golf game – much to the irritation of some – and his golf posts don’t have the tone of an egotistical blow hard – they are in fact often pretty humble (“I don’t try to hit my 7 iron 140 yards, because I can’t”)…and certainly have the ring of truthiness to them
Therefore, since this is the first somewhat far-fetched story that a long-time poster has submitted (other than possibly the “hot wife”) I tend to give NLNV the benefit of the doubt.
There, you have my opinion and you didn’t even need to ask for it.
The type of post you are talking about is nothing more than a plagiarism from a Twitter post. Something he has done repeatedly here. His real stories are recognizable and I think I even remember him once sharing a picture of his wife (or at least some chick that appeared to be in the same house he had previously shared pictures from), and for her age, I’ll say she was not fat. That’s as far as I’ll go talking about another man’s wife. We have our disagreements, and I would 100% guarantee that story came from social media. Not gonna say he doesn’t have a hot wife though. At the very least in his eyes, I’m sure she is.
Sorry Bow. This happened as I described yesterday. I have no need to misrepresent myself. I have no need to lie.
OK. That just seemed like one of the “stories” you have shared in the past that I happened to have seen on Twitter earlier that morning.
I cut and pasted text for years. Much easier than retyping. Being accused of some deeper nefarious intention was, in a word, ridiculous.
OK, plagiarism is plagiarism, and the intent may not have been there, but it does lend a certain hesitancy to believing what you post. Is it a copy and paste or real? History has said copy and paste.
So your interpretation that copying text and pasting it is plagiarism is off the mark. Plagiarism is when you copy someone else’s work, and claim it as your own. I never did that then. I never have either. Again, I have no need to misrepresent myself.
Um, posting text under your name without citation of the original author is the exact definition of plagiarism. Granted, you’re not going to catch a charge on a small social media site, but plagiarism is plagiarism. To avoid that you would need to at least say “blah, blah, blah” – Michelle Tafoya. You have consistently just copy and pasted with no reference to the original poster. You have also repeatedly posted stories like the one below without citation such as your football jersey/fishing shirt story that happened to be posted the same day I saw it come up on Twitter.
No, cutting and pasting text, you make no claim to being your own, is not plagiarism. Your pronouncement is called an extrapolation. You took a formal definition, and extrapolated it to apply to a post on a blog. It’s a reach. A long one at that.
You’re strawmanning. Copying a story from ANOTHER humans social media, then pasting it here and then acting like that story happened to you then defending it when your called out is low key, INSANE sociopathic behavior.
Please share the twitter link because I know you are right and I would love the proof.
Fair enough…but I am unaware of any previous plagiarized twitter posts…to be fair I do not follow this site every day…I just hadn’t seen him post something like that before…which is why I tend to believe him….if he comes out tomorrow and says he talked with aliens while vacationing in UTAH, I will change my opinion.
It’s happened, repeatedly. He also likes to copy and paste Tweets instead of the link, but whatever. Stealing a story like this would be nothing different than another example of an old man not understanding plagiarism. If it’s actually true, then he does nothing more than reduce the cred he was looking to gain because nobody believes him after all the uncited posts he’s shared.
‘although the part that he is married to an incredibly attractive fitness lady is too date unproven’
He has posted a picture of the lady here before. Of course ‘incredibly attractive’ is in the eye of the beholder so some that is subjective.
I’ll tell you a funny story about this. When I met my wife, I sent my brothers and sisters a couple of her competition photo’s. About a year later I suffered a collapsed lung, and since it was 85% collapsed, it was folding over my heart. I was rushed into emergency surgery, with the surgeons fearing I would die on the operating table. This happened in Maryland, and she was down here in Tampa. My family all lived in Virginia at the time, so they all rushed to hospital after I came out of surgery. My wife (then girlfriend) flew up to see me the next day. She walked into my hospital room and my brother said “wow, you’re real, you’re really real, and you have muscles and everything!” She was taken aback, wondering what was going on. Then he explained. “Mom was worried about him after his divorce and being alone for 10 years. She kept asking him if he was going to find another person to share his life with. When he sent those pictures we thought they were from a magazine or something, to give her some sense that he was seeing someone”. Of course I was laying there listening to this, somewhat in shock. I said “baby, meet the family”.
That is funny.
of course, with a collapsed lung, you were not laughing.
Here’s another funny part of the story. When I was advised they were taking me to the hospital for surgery, I called the operations floor to advise them of the situation. They would then advise the commanders around the globe, and post periodic updates to my status. My Operations manager who took the call was a Black female. When I came to in the recovery room I awoke to see her standing over me. I was surprised to see her, and asked her how she got into the recovery room. She said, I told them I was your sister. I looked at her and said, well you are a sister… then I threw up. Many years later at my retirement, she asked to be a guest speaker. I had two other folks set to speak already, but I was happy to accommodate her. Don’t you know she put up pictures of me in the recovery room, and told everyone that story. Joint Chiefs, SECDEF, all laughing their butts off.
Itโs in the eye of the beerholder
NDR – very interesting post, and insightful.
I read NLV’s post, found it interesting and could care little if it is true, or completely true ,or not. If it is complete BS it doesn’t cost me one red cent.
And I am very very leary of calling anyone a liar, especially in a very small community like this.
And for all those who condone NLV and put all those crazy red flags on just about everything he says. I have a question for you.
NLV carries his site daily. I don’t know the numbers but he has a hell of a lot of daily posts. Some cause debate, some humeous, some entertainment, whatever.
So if you want to keep putting him down, and perhaps run him off – WHO IS GOING TO FILL THE VOID?
Meh. Downvotes are street cred. I get them as well.
It would be a very boring site if everyone agreed with me. Even though everyone else is obviously wrong.
Downvotes can be street creed, or they they can be mean spiritedness.
It certainly would be boring if all agreed, but that is a thin excuse to attack one particular poster all the time.
Kirk still sucks
Laughing… can always count on you Surly…
My wife made a pot of Borscht for dinner tonight. Good stuff if you haven’t tried it.
Borscht recipes, I am confident my wife’s Borscht (Her parents were not far removed from the old country) is different than the Borscht your wife prepares.
Borscht is good “stick to your bones” food when it’s cold as shit outside. I am surprised they make it in Florida.
My wife makes it with beets, onions, carrots, and cabbage. She puts some chicken in it too though.
I will get the ingredients from my wife and we can compare…I don’t remember if she uses chicken or beef as the protien.
You lost me at ‘beets’.
Laughing. Borscht has a distinctive reddish purple color, derived from the beets.
Which is why I don’t, and as far as I know, have ever eaten Borscht.
Very likely not. It’s not a common American dish. The first person to make it for me was Russian.
‘The first person to make it for me was Russian’
Sounds like a ‘Honey Trap’ only with beets, yuck.
Laughing… I will not tell you she was a stripper then.
I do not hate beets. Not a food I normally choose, but I have enjoyed them at fancy restaurants in the past.
Of course, with enough spices or butter or bacon, most things taste better.
Lot of street cred being dished out on this thread
Go get you some!
Well since you asked.

Common sense in UK?
https://www.foxnews.com/world/200000-small-boat-arrivals-loom-amid-uk-raising-threat-level-severe-following-recent-terror-attack
This has been a growing threat for a long time.
For the UK the only threat comes from America.
If Trump weren’t the President, there would be no threat level to worry about.
What grade do you give the Vikings for the 2026 NFL Draft?
B (64%, 16 Votes)
C (28%, 7 Votes)
A (8%, 2 Votes)
D (0%, 0 Votes)
F (0%, 0 Votes)
What a bunch of perple krak spokin’ homers!
I think B- to C+ is about right. Won’t know for a couple years though.
Since it was a meh draft class, I think this class of Vikings rookies will be a “C” for the league. We’ll have a couple guys that’ll start a couple seasons worth of games and maybe 2 more that’ll stay on the roster for the length of their contracts. That’s ’bout it…
This gif raises my blood pressure.
I’d give it a d or f but then people get their panties in a bunch cuz they want everyone else to agree with them.
I see that there can be two grades.
One, what is the results of the draft, ie the players taken. That obviously won’t be known for years yet.
Two, how was the draft run, the logic, the strategy, etc. We knew immediately that KOCs first draft sucked and we didn’t need to wait years for that to be proven. It was in fact proven but he drafted like a blindfolded drunk throwing darts. This draft was not that. I give ‘the process’ a B-.
OK… just ran up to the store to grab a couple things (milk and ice cream) and a totally infuriating thing happened at the checkout register. The girl in front of me was just finishing up and this guy walks up and starts handing things to the cashier to ring up for him. I was like “yo, dude, the back of the line is that way”. This guy turns to me and says “I’m Somali, you are behind me”. That set me off. I said “this is America, in America you go to the back of the line and wait your turn”. Which he said something like “America is Somali now” and he shoved me backwards. Before I could do anything the two guys behind me waiting to buy their beer, grabbed this guy and literally drug him out the front door and tossed him into the parking lot on his ass. They came back and asked if I was OK. “I could have taken him” I said. They sort of laughed a little and said “yeah but then you would have messed up that very nice shirt you’re wearing”.
How is the infuriating?
Sounds like a dream come true! #grin
Well the audacity was singularly repugnant. I felt sorry for the cashier. She was terrified.
He must have been from a ‘high ranking Somali clan’ to have that attitude.
I had an inmate I dealt with in prison that was from Saudi Arabia that had a similar attitude. It did not end well for him either, he even contacted the consulate over it.
I’ve been to Somalia. They are quite brutal people. They are accustomed to bullying people and killing them. They think Westerners are weak, and they see themselves as the wolves killing the sheep.
A lot of westerners are weak. Misplaced empathy and preferring not to get involved so that they don’t get into trouble.
You live in Tampa don’t you? Was not aware there was a large Somali population in Tampa. Was the Idiot was aware this was Florida? Maybe he was on vacation from the “learing” center in Minnesota and not aware of local customs here. FAFO ๐
I do live just North of Tampa, and this was the first time I’ve experienced something like this here. I don’t think there’s a large Somali contingent in Florida either. No idea where this guy came from. He clearly did not expect anyone to challenge him, probably least of all me.
Well good for you. World would be a much better place if A holes suffered the consequences of their actions. I myself am way too old but would love to live by the motto of that great movie. Be nice… until it’s time to not be nice. ๐ Way cool that the fellows behind you stepped up to the plate.
I was dressed nicely in a collared shirt, slacks, and dress shoes. I’m 71, so not the strapping young warrior I once was. That said, I was thoroughly trained to take a man down and disable him quickly once upon a time. Pretty confident I could still hurt someone very badly, very quickly.
I see we must have a couple of sheeples amongst us down voting your threat to kick the shit out of a dude that deserved it….
Sigh……sheeples.
Hey NoDak, thank you. Folks are free to express themselves any way they wish. Doesn’t bother me. It does reflect on them more than me though.
Did this seriously happen?
I doubt it. Sounds like BS to me.
And you say this based on what?
Based on it sounds made up as hell, and this is the internet and people lie often.
I was interested in vikes opinion – perhaps he saw something that was not obvious to me.
I don’t know, I think most people on this site are basically honest with each other. See no value or benefit in lieing to others here.
I would like to think that most people on this site are honest with each other, but nobody knows for sure.
Ditto, at least until 5 comes back…
I expect some exaggeration. Heck I have to check myself occasionally from ’embellishing’ a story or memory in order to make it better.
That is certainly different from making stuff up posting it as truth.
It serves no purpose to lie about something.
Just my take on it. He’s got a history of posting fake crap from Twitter and this story sounds far fetched imo. The thing is though, I don’t buy half the stuff he posts.
Yes… it happened, and I’m still angry about it.
Crazy. Sorry to hear people (guests) actually have that attitude.
I do wonder where this guy came from. We have a really great community here. People say hi to each other, help each other, and in general get along well. First time I encountered this kind of behavior here in Florida. Don’t know if this guy is representative of a larger group or not. I was just really angered very quickly by his actions. As I said, he immediately set me off. The two younger guys behind me kinda just took over though. The cashier was very upset. I actually have a guy across the street who works in the Sheriff’s department. He and I have exchanged greetings many times. I might ask him about it.
What a POS.
And then everyone clapped right?
I sure hope so…
I would have.
Me too.
Nobody was clapping or cheering or anything. Mostly folks were upset, and angry. The manager lady came out and was asking people what happened, and if everyone was OK. I heard more than a couple expletives, but mostly people were like WTF?
Yeah, that never happened to him.
Interesting.
Didn’t she turn down a settlement to go to trial?
Reading ESPN’s overview of things, they certainly painted him as innocent. Accusations do seem sketchy.
Several things came out in the trial. There is a video of her dancing around smiling in his house after he supposedly attacked her. Her attorneys sent Diggs a letter demanding $5.5M which he refused to pay. So they brought this suit. Then she claimed the fight they had was over unpaid wages, but Diggs showed the wires he sent to pay her. On the stand she didn’t answer questions posed, rather she would go off on a tangent talking about things other than what was asked. The judge warned her that she had to answer the questions or all her testimony would be stricken from the record. The prosecutor in his closing remarks even began with something to the effect of she was not a very good witness on the stand. She clearly made the whole thing up trying to extort money from him, and ruin him.
So in other words she is a typical female?
I am so glad we have found some atypical ones that we can trust. Took some looking around but certainly worth the effort.
Indeed SoCal
She wanted more, but they offered less to settle. They went to trial…
I guess this Ahmed guy attended the Quality Learing Center in MPLS.
Laughing. I completely missed that Surly.
And not Mickey Gilley.
I received an inheritance from some long lost Welsh cousin (some gougers have all the luck) and
I went ahead and bought cuz I’m the king of my householdmy wife said I should look into getting a robotic lawnmower so I have some actual free time to golf and fish. My yard is about 3 acres with a 30 degree slope from our deck down to the creek. My “yarbo” arrived yesterday. Haven’t unboxed it yet. Need to figure out a spot to mount the “data center” aka RTK antenna and snake the data cable into the barndominium to hook up to ethernet. Build a little outdoor shelter for Chop Norris. Map out the mowing zones…then see how it does.
More golf and fishing sounds good. Hope the robo-mower works out.
The rich get richer amiright?
Gas is up to $4.21/gallon…getting hard to make ends meet here.
Lol yeah okay ๐- but yeah gas is ridiculous. Its about 4.10 here in Bismarck.
I did some research and ended up getting a Lymow One last year for a few reasons. Those Yarbo’s look like they work well, but are like $6,000+, so we couldn’t justify that. They also have snowblower attachments, if you didn’t already know. That was one thing that would be awesome if it worked well. I think that brought up to $9,000+ though.
Seemed like reviewers described way too many problems with snow throwing. FWIW here in eastern MT we do not get a lot of snow, and when we get snow it is either a skiff that I can blade off quickly with a push shovel or it is drifted up to 18 inches or so and would overwhelm the robot. Plus the wind we get would tend to return the snow back to the driveway unless the robot could tell which way the wind was blowing. I could always add that module as needed.
As I said, I have three acres to mow, fairly steep (30 degree) slope down to the creek, and also abundant thick stalked weeds. So the Yarbo made sense.
I don’t quite understand why you gougers don’t just hire someone to do your lawn work. You would be giving money back to a local, hardworking, person.
Robots are more cool and fun. And they don’t raise their prices.
I’m going to say it once again. There is no one, NO ONE, in our area that is advertising to do yard work outside of city limits. Last summer my wife asked the 15 year old grandson if he would come and mow once a week, he said sure and then ended up sleeping in and spending time at his grandfather’s further up the creek doing fun stuff.
After numerous calls we finally got someone to come out and look at landscaping our hill. I was willing to pay whatever they asked. Said they were busy atm but would get right back to us with an estimate…never happened.
So there is no local hardworking person. I could go on FB and beg and probably get someone to come out that would manage to injure themselves using a weed trimmer while high and enjoy paying for their medical care.
I don’t do yard work landscaping snow removal electrical work plumbing etc etc etc for the fun of it, 95% of the time.
Justin Jefferson attended the Met Gala. I’m sorry, everyone, but he is now officially done as an elite receiver. It’s over. No one who attends the Met Gala can be considered even remotely normal.

What is a Met gala?
Fundraiser for the Met.
I donโt know what the met is
The Met is the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
Wrenage’s buddies did a hilarious take on this over on LMO
HaHa! That was well worth my time to read.
Burrow looks like a gay serial killer to me.
How do you know what a Gay Serial Killer looks like?
Not kink shaming, just curious.
Just take a look at the fat head of Kirk Cousins he has in his room. Looks just like that
At least he is not wearing those ridicules ‘Hammer Time’ pants he had on before.
Except…….
May the 5th be with us?
Broke down and ordered a 9 wood online from eBay. Bought it for $35.99 plus shipping for a total of $47.06. The brand is called Integra SoooLong and I bought a 3 wood a couple years ago that was also cheap. I loved it, so I bought a 5 wood, and then a 7 wood. So now I have a set of these cheap fairway metals, and for what they cost, they play pretty darn good.
JR convinced me to check out a 9 wood, so I decided to take the plunge today. Supposed to be here by Saturday.
Just thought I’d pass it along.
Good buy – think you’ll enjoy it.
Just one issue you may have – carrying both a 7 and 9 wood. For me, and everyone is different, I go 5 wood and then 9 wood. I find the 7 and 9 are a little too close in distance but many carry both.
I’ll be interested in hearing what you think of the 9 wood after you play with it a few times.
I’ll let you know. My target distance for the 9 wood is 150 to 155. I hit my 7 wood 160 to 165, my 5 wood 170 to 175, and my 3 wood 180 to 185. I hit my driver around 200 yards. Thus I expect to have pretty good club selection from 150 to 180 in the bag. I hit my 6 iron 140 to 145, my 7 iron 130 to 135, and my 8 iron 120 to 125. Hit my 9 iron 110 to 115, and my pitching wedge 100 to 105. Gap wedge is 85 to 90 yards, and sand wedge is 75 to 80 yards. 60 degree is 65 to 70 yards. I hit these clubs with pretty consistent distance, and a high ball flight. So I keep the ball in play with just a smooth, unhurried swing. I don’t try to hit my 8 iron 140. I just make a good consistent swing, at the same tempo for every club in the bag.
I think I shared before, last year I purchased an 11 wood because I was done trying to consistently hit a 7 or 6 iron. The “full swing” 11 wood for me is 150 to 160, but I can back off a little and hit it down to 140…so it effectively replaces my 6 and 7 irons. I love it…much easier to hit. From 160 to 190 I cover with 3 and 4 hybrids, which I still hit fairly well.
That’s a little unusual. I mean, lots of folks would go 11 wood 150 160, and then might go 9 wood 160 – 175 and then maybe 7 wood above that. and the hybrids would be for distances “less” than the fairways. If this makes sense. Generally, fairways go longer than hybrids while hybrids provide better control.
Yes, I may go to a 9 and 7 wood eventually, but since I am still hitting the hybrids pretty well I think I will just stand pat. My 8,9, and PW blades are ok.
Oh, for sure go with what works best for you.
I play with a guy, very good golfer, goes driver, 4 wood, 7 wood, 9 wood, then 5 and 6 hybrids, and then 7 iron on down.
Yeah, I would probably do well with 5 and 6 hybrids…I just can’t hit any blade longer than an 8 iron now. I think I shared before-in my younger days I actually would hit a 1 iron off of the tee. My driver was a mess but I could hit that 1 iron around 235 and pretty straight. Can’t hit the long blades at all any more.
Hey NoDak, knowing your distances makes all the difference. I play courses that are tight, with smaller greens so I tend to play to the middle of the greens, but there are definitely times I play to the back or the front distances. There’s one course I play that has swamp, lakes, marshes, and ponds in play on almost every hole. It’s not a long course, but it’s tight, and I usually see guys lose 6 or 7 balls in a round. Knowing your distances is really important. There’s a short par five, dogleg right, with swamp down right side, and trees and bunkers down the left. There’s also a big bunker in the corner of the dogleg. There is a 40 yard marsh in front of green, heavy woods to the left, and a lake to the right and behind it. IF you can thread a tee ball about 200 yards down the right side and over the bunker, you can leave yourself 160 yards to the green. The landing area is small though, with a set of tall palm trees you have to stay right of, and a swamp you have to stay left of. Guys try to pull this shot off every time. It usually ends in disaster. I hit a 3 wood down the middle, then a pitching wedge or gap wedge just short of the marsh, then a sand wedge or 60 degree onto the green.
BTW the first time I played the hole I thought it was a par four. Hit driver off the tee, and 7 wood from 160 to a foot. Thought it was a birdie till my playing partners told me otherwise.
Wow nice eagle…yeah seems like the right play is to hit around 180 off the tee to keep that corner dogleg out of play, yes then short of the marsh with which ever club you need.
I think we have had this discussion before as well…I only carry one wedge, and then I adjust my swing speed accordingly. I have tried to do the gap wedge thing and it doesn’t work out for me, and I would never hit a sand wedge off of the fairway. So I basically hit my PW about 120ish on down…although lately I have started hitting a soft 9 between 90 and 120 with good results.
This is why I don’t advise people on clubs and their game. I have been good with my wedges for a long time. Strongest part of my game by far. Other folks don’t have that level of comfort so why tell them to put a gap wedge and 60 degree wedge in their bag like me? No, as Clint Eastwood said, a man’s got to know his limitations. You have to play the shot that you like, not the one someone else likes.
T-Wolves wins with ANT playing limited time on dead leg.
Timber-puppies are proving to be tough.
Gotta give the head coach a shout-out for how he utilized Anthony’s playing time. It was a heck of a coaching job from Finch last night.
i agree, i’m not a finch fan, but he coached very well…
he even figured out how to screen wemby away from the hoop and let us get inside.
i’d say the wolves definitely were the better team last night
Don’t need him.
Obvious Troll is Obvious
They need Dosunmu back with Divincenzo out for the playoffs, they played well last night
Yes, if they actually want to advance and make noice against OKC they will need him and Ant as close to 100% as possible
๐ค
wolves were double digit underdogs in game 1, also theyโre the 6 seed playing the 2 seed so yeah, theyโre technically the underdog, but theyโve made the WCF as a 6 seed before and were the three seed the other year. They got their asses thoroughly kicked losing in 5 both times.
Happy Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday!
What a coincidence.
Happy Cinco de mayo!
It’s late in the day, so maybe just one small political thought. Heard something the other night from Jefferson and I’ll paraphrase.
‘No Nation can expect to be IGNORANT and FREE. It has never been and will never be.’
Look around.
Sounds like Bow…
Nah, I only hit my 9 about 170-175.
Laughing… that’s my 5 wood…
My fairway wood is about 230 or 240. I go off my 7 iron at 200 and then about 15 yards per club from there. I’ve hit 215-220 with my 7 iron in a simulator, but that is swinging pretty hard.
Ah…to be young and stringy!
When I was your age I could hit my fairway wood about 250, but my 7 iron maxed out at 160. Interesting….
Part of it is the clubs I got. I learned that there is no standard for the loft of an iron and I think mine are a little on the strong side.
I also have extra stiff shafts with an additional 1.5 inches on each club and a little offset. I haven’t golf much the last couple of years, but I’m going to golf league this year so we’ll see how that goes.
I didn’t start playing golf till I was 35, and I was not good at it. Even then, in shape and strong, I could only hit my driver about 250 max. Hit my 3 wood about 230 max, and my 5 wood about 215 max. That was when I wasn’t ganking it into the woods. Anyway, I played some baseball once upon a time and I never hit a home run ever. Not in practice, and not in a game. Meanwhile my buddies are knocking over the fence with ease. Just one of those things. I learned to hit singles in the gap playing baseball. Now I hit singles on the golf course.
Leftists are now criticizing police bodycams as a “propaganda tool” controlled by law enforcement, claiming they fail to reduce violence and distract from shrinking police power.
These are the same people who demanded law enforcement purchase these devices and wear them due to concerns of police brutality. But it backfired on them as activist protesters are being caught on camera and then arrested.
FAFO
There are to halves to the Dims now days.
The crazy, woke, radicals and the shrinking Moderates.
The crazies have more money, energy and ‘excitement’ so they are pretty much in charge of things now.
Scary times for the country. The left has owned the education system, the media, and of course the entertainment industry for decades. They’ve been programming kids for 25 years to hate capitalism and this country in general. It’s a movement towards a Marxist take-over as we’ve seen in New York City. It’s not good what has been happening to our youth.
And also pro Muslim.
This another scary part. The left is supporting Islam in the country, to garner that voting block. Unfortunately they are creating their own demise by doing so. Muslims murder infidels like them once they are in power.
Sounds familiar…
WIFE: You pick dinner
HUSBAND: Burgers
WIFE: No
HUSBAND: Tacos
WIFE: No
HUSBAND: Subs
WIFE: No
HUSBAND: Then what do you want?
WIFE: It’s up to you
That’s what happens at our house.
Yep… me too sometimes.. I can have whatever I want, as long as it’s what she wants.
On the other hand she knows my personal dining preferences and usually makes dinner for me based on that. I love meat, potatoes, peas, buttered corn, applesauce, etc. I’m simple to please.
Live down in South Florida right? Iโd go for Cuban or maybe a grouper
Love Cuban food Ben. There’s a restaurant that was built in 1903 in Ybor City which is an outgrowth of Tampa on its Easternmost side. Ybor was built as a Cuban community cigar factory town. The Columbia opened in 1903 as I said, and has had the same basic menu ever since. The restaurant is very cool, with tons of history. The food is great, and the service is great too. Parking is a challenge. Ybor is a small place. The restaurant is always busy. It’s just a very great place. If you’re ever in Tampa, this is a must do dining experience.
There’s also a Columbia Restaurant in Celebration about 8 miles from where I live. Maybe a chain.
It wasn’t until about 10 years ago they began building additional restaurants. The demand simply drove them to it. There’s one in the Tampa Airport, and there used to be one at the Pier in St Pete, but the building it was in was closed down many years ago. Not sure if it ever re-opened.
The one in Ybor City is the original restaurant that used to serve the cigar factory workers, and it’s still in the same building since 1903.
Iโve been to Tampa several times, I really like it down there, Iโll definitely check this place out.
Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui apologized in court to Cole Tomas Allen for his pretrial conditions in D.C. jail, citing “grave concerns” over unprompted solitary confinement, suicide watch protocols, and restricted access to items like a Bible after Allen’s removal from suicide status.
Faruqui is a Trump hating judge, who is now presiding over a case involving an assassination attempt on Trump, and apologizing to the assassin.
You can’t make this shit up.
Suicide Watch is mandatory for new inmates in solitary/isolation for the first week. We had to check on them hourly. They didn’t like it because they couldn’t get away with as much.
Thanks, I thought it was probably standard operating procedure, and the judge MUST know this, so why is he making a public show of his “grave concern” about how the prisoner has been treated? Pure political theater.
That Judge is an absolute fool!
Perhaps they should bring him lattes in the morning and steak/lobster for dinner.
How did we ever get so fucked up!
Liberals working overtime to stack the courts. I think Obama set a record for judicial appointees.
‘How did we ever get so fucked up!’
Practice.
Woke/Dims/Libs have been virtue signalling for years now.
My apiary mentor called me Friday night and said he would give me two of his caged queens that he received as bonuses for his large order. I drove up to his place and installed the queens in their little cages into their respective hives on Saturday. There they shall stay until Thursday when I shall open the hives and hopefully see that they have been accepted by the workers. If so, they shall be freed and allowed to walk the frames as the true empresses they are.
Takes 21 days for brood to hatch so time is of the essence. Their retinue will only live so long. The suspense is spine tingling!
“One queen to rule them all”…
I watched this movie called beekeeper, it said sometimes the queen must be replaced because she produced bad offspring, hopefully that doesnโt happen too you
A lot of beekeepers replace their queens every season. Fresh queens invigorate the hive and juice honey production. You just gotta have gouger money.
They are really quite fascinating. When I walk the choco I detour around the hives to watch them come and go.
‘You just gotta have gouger money’
What a happy coincidence that you do have it.
15 year pro signs with the Packers…
A new No. 2 in
Green BayNo. 2.I see what you did there.
Most Vikings fans every year after a crushing disappointment….
The optimism is very high today on the site for the upcoming season. Good for you guys, love the positivity.
I do not have it.
Why not?
OL struggled last year, also injuries, lost Kelly.
DL struggled last year, lost Greenard.
If any other team added Kyler Murray and trumpeted that they had found their guy, we would snicker.
H. Smith is gone.
Finished 9-8 on the strength of our last two opponents laying down.
It seems the boundless optimism revolves around Kyler Murray. I’m not criticizing the optimism of y’all, I just don’t have it.
Kelly was barely on the field to make a difference. Injuries happen. DL did not struggle last year, that DL was part of a top defensive unit in the league and DT showed he can fill Greenards shoes AND stay on the field. Not to mention the depth we added with the draft. No one on the Vikings is saying Kyler is ” our long term guy”. Smith has not retired yet and if he were, he would have announced it by now. He could be back. The only team that laid down last year that we played was GB last week of the season. I think your mopey attitude clouded the reality of things.
The dline was so good they cut two very high priced free agents from the previous offseason, Redmond did look legit though and Turner showed he is ready for a full time role. They drafted a DT who according to some on here will be having his left foot amputated, so Iโm not sure how that will work out. But if heโs healthy they should have some decent round talent with him, the fat fruit, and redmond
i think Smith is probably ready for assisted living, but who knows, he may still try to come back for one more year.
They were fair/solid but they were paid like they were good/elite. We had a chance to get out from under those contracts for cheap and reload the position.
‘who according to some on here will be having his left foot amputated’
It is the inter web/net/thingie you can find people who will say anything to support their narrative.
Turds, they were signed to provide pass rush and got outplayed by a udfa and the team ate a bunch of dead cap to get rid of them, at least they were healthy I guess.
Caleb banks is already a bust, they have spoken
We got most/all of those DTs cap back due to Offset Language in their contracts.
Convenient that they manage to forget that.
Over 23 million in dead cap, but yeah tell me more about offset
From the 2 DTs we let go?
I don’t think so, we got it back when they signed new contracts with other teams.
No they didnโt, you clearly donโt understand how it works
Hope for the best, expect the worst.
๏ปฟ I want the team to do well, but I would be mocking any team that was relying on Murray to be the long term QBOTF.
He could prove me wrong, but so far I am not impressed.
I am hoping we see an improved JJ vs Murray, but time will tell.
If the team does well, it will be on the strength of the defense first and foremost. I like that the team drafted big guys. Now they have to be able to play. IOL and IDL have been bad for too long.
Worst possible outcome would be Murray plays just good enough to convince the team to throw a long term contract his way, and the team goes 1 and done in the playoffs.
JJ goes to LA to backup Herbert, and eventually becomes a star and wins multiple championships.
Vikings languish in Kirk-Like mediocrity for another 4 seasons…
Rec for ‘Hope for the best, expect the worst’.
Putting aside Murray for a second, I think the defense will be pretty solid and we have a lot of good offensive pieces.
Now, for Murray, I feel somewhat similar to him as I did Darnold. Murray is talented but played for one of the poorest run teams in the league. They play a different game but if KOC can adjust our offense to take full advantage of his strengths, he could have a very good year and our offense could be a force.
This offense should be very good. It’s been years in the making, and the various parts and pieces are seasoned vets. They aren’t “developing talent” anymore. Murray just has to play decent, and run the offense as designed. This is his 8th year in the league. He should have all the fundamentals down pat by now. I would think he could learn the playbook well enough over the next 5 months that he can fundamentally run the offense.
Well if the offense “should be very good” and the defense (Flo’s third year) is good, why wouldn’t we expect a lot of wins, and the division for that matter.
I’d say we have to consider the loss of three starting defensive players that were all pretty darn good. It appears we’re replacing a couple of them with rookies. So I think that creates some doubt about the defense. If those guys we picked end up being good, then yes, we should definitely contend for the Division.
We got 3 rookies personally selected by Flo to fit into his defense.
None of them are expected to be a day one starter although one (or even two may surprise).
Gotta start with optimism. Until the team actually proves otherwise… otherwise what’s the point?
Better to expect the worst, then you wonโt be let down
I’ll put it this way…the glaring weakness of the Edmonton Oilers in their last two SCF runs was defense and goaltending. This season they did nothing to shore up goaltending, and they only had a single three game winning streak all season. You’ll notice that I didn’t start crowing about their chances of making it to the SCF third year in a row, because they obviously were not built to make a run this year.
Exactly how I feel about the Vikings. This is not their year. The point is realism as a fan. I’ll watch the games (actually I’m thinking about not buying the NFL streaming package, so maybe I won’t) but I’m really looking on to the next seasons after we get rid of McFragileโข and hopefully draft a real QB. Right now, build the defense.
Fragile McPonder could still become JJ McGOAT!!!
His dainty frame and blackened cheeks strike fear into the heart of linebackers. Look forward to seeing him continuing to take them on in the open field. His deeds will live on in Valhalla!
BUT can’t you still go into the season with some positivity and be like, let’s see how this plays out before you get all negative Nancy?
We couldn’t notice…
Way too much football talk on this fan site.
My Niece just reminded me.
So we got that going for us.
‘Kyler Murray can be the next Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold in Minnesota’
Baker Mayfield used to play in Minnesota??
Lots of people view Mayfield as a playmaker who helped the Bucs win their Division two straight years until last year. I think that’s what Carter was on about here. Murray is seen as a similar type player. A guy who makes plays with his legs and does more than pass the ball.
“he’s played some hell of football”
what on earth (or under the earth) does that even mean
โheโs played some hell of footballโ
It is Ghetto for ‘He played very well’.
Expect Murray to have the best season of his career.
And as such, we will win the division.
And then lose first round.
And pay him like a top-5 QB while getting top 12-15 production. Where have I seen this before??
Dallas?
I’m thinking the same thing to be honest. Plenty of weapons in a fully mature offense. He just has to learn and understand the scheme, and his role. Russell Wilson actually struggled with this though when he left the SeaHawks. There were reports of him calling out adjustments and hot reads etc, using the SeaHawks codewords and signals, and his Broncos teammates didn’t know what he was doing.
And KOC needs to adjust the offense some.
Being able to run the ball consistently would be nice
#nojinx
What do we do with JMac then? Trade for a 5th round pick? lol
Just my opinion, barring injury to Murray and if he. does play very well, JJ will never see the field again in a Viking uniform.
Very much doubt they will do the ” let Darnold go” thing again.
I think Kyler can be better than Wentz and McCarthy without much effort.
Do the Wild have another goalie that can play, or are they gonna roll with the guy that gave up 9 goals last night?
that loss doesn’t ALL fall on the goalie. their defense played atrocious….middleton had one of the worst games of his career and they greatly missed Ek and Brodin.
that being said, the goalie also sucked.
All of this.
Also, Colorado was sniping last night. So many perfect shots.
also one of the goals was empty net.
so the wallstedt actually played really well!
I was wondering that after I posted. I didn’t watch the 3rd period, so I figured maybe a goal or two were empty netters. Gotta regroup and hopefully get the win in game 2.
We went down 3-0, and came back and actually had the lead later. I was proud of the team for fighting. That showed a lot.
That said, we have to clean things up for Tuesday.
Fun fact, more goals were scored in that game than shots on net by the Canadiens in their 2-1 game 7 victory last night against Tampa Bay.
Are all the Florida teams out?
Doesn’t surprise me. That was a wierd game. I almost stopped watching when it was 3-0, then the Wild score 2. Scoring was coming in bunches.
Not sure about the Florida teams.
That was the first NHL game I have watched in years. Well, watched might be a stretch as I was reading a book and generally only looked up when the announcers started yelling. It was entertaining except for the Wild losing.
Trivia Time:
Of the Top 10 highest scoring offenses in NFL history, how many won the Superb Owl?
1?
Iโm going to guess and say two. The 49ers and the Broncoโs.
The answer is zero.
Surprising… I guess Defense really does win Championships.
Would have to see the reverse to see if that were true right?
You don’t remember the 85 Bears? Or the SeaHawks legion of boom? Two right off the top of my head.
I found this… damn!
Yep… so we need Flo to make it go, one mo’ time this year.
Wonder what a top 5 offense will yield?
And in a sense it’s sort of a net game – points scored against points allowed.
It is. It’s a team game where all elements contribute on both sides of the ball and special teams to garner wins. Having the highest scoring offense in history, didn’t ensure a Super Bowl. The media pushes the “QB wins” false narrative. Like only the offense and only one guy on the offense wins games. Something I personally find ridiculous in the extreme.
QBs wins are a fallacy, but they help
Yep… they are a part of the team. A good QB gives you a better chance to win, a bad QB gives you are lesser chance to win.
‘A good QB gives you a better chance to win, a bad QB gives you are lesser chance to win.’
Seems like that could be said about almost every member of the team regardless of position.
Well, the QB is the primary component of the Offense, and without him the Offense is probably not going to do well. That’s why I said that. A good QB can run the offense well, and routinely put up points. That obviously helps, but it’s basically only half the equation.
Disagree.
If your QB sucks, you won’t win many games.
It’s a fact.
I thought the 1999 Rams team was the highest scoring offense of all time, at least at the time?
Pretty prolific. They scored 526 points so just outside the top ten all time.
Must have been a different metric because I remember the 98 Vikings being the best offense ever and the Rams took that title the following year and actually went to the Bowl. They weren’t called the Greatest Show on Turf for nothing. Maybe it was yards or something?
The graphic is based on points.
Rams had 526 in 1999 and 540 in 2000.
1 QB and 1 WR appear twice on that top 10 list.
Glad we’re paying Jefferson his money.
When you have a player that is still in their prime and actually top 1-3 in their position, you pay them. Every team does this.
That implies that finishing 12th in receiving yards was a problem that Kyler Murray will solve. I would not rank him a top 3 receiver at this point in time.
I think it’s fantastic. Him eating a extra sized portion of the offensive budget hamstrings the team. I’m looking beyond this season, which will not end in glory.
Thanks Nostradamus.
@Every since you said Trump would lose to Cackles you have been spot on.@
Just a thought… do you think most players, once they’re drafted, feel they’ve “made it” rather than feel they are only at the first step?
Listening to the phone calls to players during the draft they all said the ‘right things’.
Most, like Caleb, seem to have something to prove to the doubters/haters. But of course time will tell.
Now that the Wilfs have officially denied that the team is up for sale, I expect the team to be sold in 3….2….1…..
I give this draft an A+
we got all of our picks in on time and we didn’t lose or forfeit any draft pics. literally nailed it.
GM
FTP!
SKOL!
Draft grade is a mystery. Ask me in two years.
Kwesi sucks
Good morning Surly. Spot on!
I just gave it a C. I figured that is fair. C is average. I am keeping expectations realistic.
is way too early to โgradeโ the draft, only the biggest of Homer could give it an A though
In college, i was hospitalized near the end of the second semester, and missed my final for Quantum Mechanics (yeah, dweeb alert). The professor gave me a topic to write a paper on instead of a final. Since i had the summer to write it, i got an incomplete final grade, until the paper was turned in.
I give the Vikings that same grade
C’s get degrees….
in this case, could it also get lombardi’s?
I was gonna go C but because they changed it up and did things that people didn’t see coming at times but absolutely has high upside mixed with some great value picks, I gave it a B.
Right now, we have a bunch of UDFA’s in addition to our draft choices who will be out there running around, trying to show coaches they belong in the NFL. Athleticism isn’t enough. Acumen and hard work are needed to succeed. Players these days have to be able to quickly take instruction, and translate it to on the field performance.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
I gave it a B. Hoping for the best…
FTP Auto Rec.
There isn’t any way to grade a draft before athletes start actually playing in NFL games. Mostly you can look at their measurable scores and college tape, but when they get to the NFL everyone they line up against is at the top of the athletic measurables list. Until we see Banks take the field and dominate NFL Offensive linemen routinely, we think he’ll be good, but don’t really know. I like the positions they chose, because defense wins Championships. Have to wait and see if the players they chose fit the bill.
But we knew enough to give KAMs first draft an ‘F’ right afterwards even though we were told we had to ‘wait and see’.
I didn’t like the Cine pick for a lot of reasons. I didn’t like the trades he made that helped our Division opponents either, and I thought he got fleeced. That said, I was still in the wait and see camp.
I was in the ‘wait to be proven right’ camp and I was.
I was basicly run out of the DN because I said how horrid the draft was. This draft, while having some questions (ie Calebs foot) was run much better than that. How the players pan out is always in questions but in the logic of how the draft was run I give it a B- at this point.
Sorry to know that folks tried to run you off the road for stating your perspective. That’s how some people roll though. Glad you’re still here.
Ehh, I survived and am in a much better place now thanks to Brad and Skoloholics.
Good… GF really did create a great site. We’re lucky he did it.
I voted C because we wonโt know anything until they are on the field.
I thought the first round pick was way too risky.
Dude wonโt do anything on the field until July training camp.
โFโ
Didn’t draft a punter or long snapper
We did get a punter after the draft though. So F+?
Technically he is a UDFA.
But your point is still valid.
Yeah, or no foreign guy that never played above like intramural level
