Morning gents, ladies and select pronouns. I will pick up the skoloholics flag and charge in to the cannon fire for we are a mere few weeks away from battle. Training camp was going along splendidly until yesterday when we had a few injuries which have been listed. Tweaks for the most part except sounded like Trishton Jackson wr rookie was a serious knee injury. We’ll hope for better grace from Oden the rest of the way but how has that worked out over the years?

Vikings signed OT Christian DiLauro. This after letting Risner walk. This guy doesn’t seem like an upgrade.
They did release another player today on a non football injury never heard of him but there was a spot open hence why they likely signed this guy. Risner may still be in play but looking like they couldn’t come to terms or simply aren’t interested.
Camp Body.
Risner wanted some more reassurances about sticking with the team I suspect.
If Minn suffers some OL injuries I expect Risner will be back.
I’m starting to think two things:
1) Vikings brought Risner in to light a fire under Cleveland/Ingram
2) Something is up with Risner…with his results it’s weird more teams haven’t pursued him
More proof JJ ain’t worried about that bag…he knows he’s the best and the money will come guaranteed.

Looks like the Tristan Jackson injury was not an ACL or MCL. Could be great news.

Vikings Training Camp Recap, Day 6: Brian Flores’ Defense Wreaks Havoc
Flores’ defense got the better of Kevin O’Connell’s offense for much of the day Tuesday.
(*Kirk Cousins was wearing a red No. 66 jersey at Tuesday’s practice, apparently as a tribute to punter Ryan Wright and his original number last year as an undrafted free agent.)
It seemed like whenever Kirk Cousins dropped back to pass, there was a pass rusher on him before he had time to go through multiple progressions. When the Vikings ran the ball, there didn’t appear to be many holes to work with.
The most notable aspect of the defense’s performance was the blitzing. They were sending five, six, seven guys after the quarterback on a lot of pass plays, and those extra rushers — which are disguised or moved around in various ways — would often get home. At one point, O’Connell was audibly quite frustrated after a play was blown up.
A situational drill that pitted the starting units against each other late in practice was a microcosm of the day. After Cousins hit Justin Jefferson for a short gain, Harrison Smith came free off of the edge for a sack on second down. Then, on third down, Smith looped around the other side of the front for another sack, forcing a three-and-out. It’s clear that Flores is going to use the versatile veteran safety in all kinds of ways this season, including sending him after the QB in designed pressures.

I kinda got the same sense…I think a big part of the issue with our line isn’t a lack of physicality, I think it’s recognizing exotic blitzes, stunts and such and they’re just not very good at working off one another and passing defenders off correctly. The Giants game was embarrassing, they were literally tripping themselves both falling down in pass protection in critical moments lol…..
I’d say they need both – they don’t handle bull rushes that well either.
