Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Hey, happy Tuesday, everyone! We got up this morning at 5:30 to watch the eclipse. We saw the eclipse, but the moon went behind the clouds before we could see the blood moon, unfortunately. It was a nice morning.

Agree, I think WWIII has been underway for many months, possibly years.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Wow… Rams going all in on McDuffie…
I saw this commentary:
“Had the Vikings hired a real GM 4 years ago they wouldn’t be in the mess they are in right now. The last 4 years were wasted and will take a few more to dig themselves out of the hole they put themselves in. Making bad hires sets your franchise back several years.”
Hmmm… I honestly felt hiring KAM was a bad idea. I said so at the time. After the first draft people told me we had to give him time to learn the ropes. I said “no, you hire an expert to run a $6B NFL organization.” I think I was right.
Happy National Anthem Day.
September 13, 1812. Maryland attorney Francis Scott Key found himself aboard a British sea vessel negotiating the release of Dr. William Beans, a prisoner of war accused of misleading the British troops. While Key’s negotiation was successful, the British troops would not allow him to disembark the ship out of fear he may disclose the Brit’s battle plans to American forces.
So, Key and Beans remained on the ship through the night witnessing the intense attack on Fort McHenry. Expecting American troops to have lost the battle, Key was astounded to see the American flag flying over Fort McHenry the next morning. The events of the evening ending in the triumphant flying of the American flag inspired Key to write a poem that ultimately became “The Star-Spangled Banner”, our national anthem.
By the early 1900s, there were several different versions of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” so President Woodrow Wilson asked the Bureau of Education to standardize it making one official version. The Bureau hired five musicians, including John Philip Sousa, to standardize the song which was first performed on December 5, 1917.
Finally, on March 3, 1931, President Herbert Hoover signed a congressional order into law making “The Star-Spangled Banner” America’s national anthem. National Anthem Day falls on March 3 annually commemorating the signing of the law.
OK… this is funny…

Beautiful night.
Yup,
Jasmine Crockett loses the Texas Primary.
Thank you Texas for your sanity.
Can’t believe they thought she’d win. Hopefully she’s off into obscurity now.
Any relation to Davey?
Seems like small potatoes in todays NFL, there were probably more compelling reasons than cost.
From Fox News:
Pentagon identifies 4 of 6 US service members killed in Kuwait drone attackThe Department of War (DOW) on Tuesday identified four of the six U.S. service members killed in a drone attack in Kuwait earlier this week.
Officials said Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died March 1 in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during an unmanned aircraft system attack while supporting Operation Epic Fury.
All four soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa, according to the Army.
Officials said the incident remains under investigation. Two additional service members killed in the attack have not yet been publicly identified pending notification of their families.
RIP to these brave men & women – mostly from Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. Based in Des Moines. Seeing town names like Bellevue, Nebraska and White Bear Lake, Minnesota hits home.
🇺🇸
Rest In Peace brothers and sisters.
RIP warriors. Condolences to the families… we honor their sacrifice, service, and devotion to freedom.
Played 9 holes today since the weather was in the high 70’s and not much wind. Shot 42. Bogeyed the first hole, parred the second, then doubled the third hole. Parred the next three holes, and bogeyed the last three holes. Pretty decent, for not having swung a club in a month or so. Played with three older guys who were fun. They ribbed each other incessantly. They all played about the same as me, decent, not great. I parted ways with them at the turn. Picked up some Mission BBQ brisket on the way home for dinner. Baked beans, corn bread, and coleslaw. Nice meal, nice round, nice life.
Good round. I just back from nine also but rained on and got a little wet. Still fun, hit it pretty well.
Great, great dinner selection.
The wife pinged me when I texted her I was done and coming home. Her suggestion. She also made a cucumber, onion, and tomato salad for a side with a vinegar dressing she made herself. Came out great. Tasty.
We played 25 holes or so the other night, then we got behind a bunch of old farts so we quit our 2nd round & went to eat, we were hungry. I hit a hole-in-one on the opening hole, perfect putt.
Nice!
Probably available for vet minimum. I think the Cardinals are already on the hook for almost 40 mill.
I would say NO but then I said ‘No to Sam’ so we know how questionable my opinion is.
For vet min absolutely bring him in, let him compete with jj, tough based on KOCs offense being complex and him allegedly not being studious I’m not sure it would be a great pairing but for vet min it’s a low risk move
Not to be a contrarian, but how did that work out with the Steelers and Russell Wilson?
As I said the other day, the good citizens of Minneapolis deserve Kyler Murray – childish, immature video game wizard. Fit right in.
I trust KOC & Bryz will make the right decision.
I hope that they will.
But my ‘trust’ has been bruised so I must continue to ‘Hope for the best but expect the worst’.
Billy knows his women!
If there’s any interest in Jones, the Vikings would have to pay and still not be guaranteed to land him.
Crazy to pay him that kind of money after his injury, imo.
I know a ton of talking heads have been saying the vikings are going to pick a safety for their 18th pick in the first round. But what if we went with a center, since we’ve desperately needed one since Matt Birk. I’m thinking Jake Slaughter would be a nice fit if he’s still on the board at 18.
I would be okay with either side of the trenches in round one. You rarely take safeties in the first round and I dont want Lewis Cine 2.0, so I would personably be pissed if that did that.
Most sites I have dealt with have Slaughter rated around #100-150 and the 7th rated OC in the draft, no reason to spend a #1 on him.
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft
And some sites have him rated higher.
Have him rated a 1st rounder?
Please show me that site.
https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/positions/C/1/2026
So ranked #66?
Lowest/Best I could find was Walter Football that had him at #34, that is almost 1st round.
PFF #76, The Athletic and NFL Mock Database both at #79 after that #115 or latter.
The site I listed compiles all of the rankings, all of the combine measurables, and college experience. So yes, that site I listed has him as the best available center.
Also, just as a side note. Analyzers like Mel Kiper and the like always get picks wrong. Bears trading up for Mitchell Trubisky, Aaron Rodgers falling to pick 24.
So the site that you think is the best has him as a late 3rd round pick. That is fair, a possible 1st rounder?? Not very likely at all.
John Sullivan was solid until he had injuries. Most mocks I’ve seen have them going cb or dline, not safety
I would be in the ‘No’ camp unless we receive ‘an offer that is too good to pass up’.
Agreed. He generates a lot of pressure.
Im okay with it. Turner is going to be filling his shoes, and we are not a SB team in 2026 and we need to clear cap. If we get offered a round 2 or 3 pick, you take it.
Either Gink or Greenard has to go or do a restructure.
Gink is better.
That’s fine pending what they could get in return, he’s missed a ton of time with injuries over his career but is very good when on the field, Turner filled in just fine and looks like he’s ready to take on full time starter status, which is likely part of the reason they’re willing to trade him. I’m not sure what they could get for him though, I’d think a 2rd is about the best
This ^
Not surprised.
when you have a higher cap hit, you better live up to that cap hit.
Had a double fish filet sandwich for lunch….I am working on that eating meat thing. It was delicious.
From McDonalds??
Yes.
Took the Nephews there often for Lent when they were much younger. Get them a Fish Filet on Fridays and then let them play in the ‘ball pit’ and ‘climbing structure’ for hours until they were worn out.
This was after their dad passed, I have no doubt that many people in the restaurant figured I was a divorced dad spending my court ordered visit with my kids.
Was it breaded? 🙃- hate to be that guy
Yes. AND it was delicious
As good as a Big Mac?
Im sure it was, but still not very healthy lol. I can’t talk though, I had a buffalo chicken wrap for lunch so
I had three of these little chicken parm sandwiches that were leftover from last night. My kids love them and they’re super easy, you just take some kings Hawaiian buns, cut them open, slather marinara on the inside, put a small slice of cheese and a chicken nugget on it and bake for a few minutes. Nuke some frozen vegetables And grab a couple popsicles for dessert and voila, dinner in under 15 mins for the munchkins.
I didn’t even know McDonald’s offered a double fish sammich.
It’s Lent
I thought you just ordered two and then threw one of the buns away.
Trump/Israel are so evil to not let democracy happen in Iran.
We are indeed the evil ones.
Remember when we all thought Kwesi > Poles?
The Bears have turned their organization around.
I remember when this didn’t happen lol 😂
Since Ben Johnson got there they have.
FAKE
That is not true and is not a legit source. Man Twitter is worthless.
Yeah, but it was worth trying to get some sort of conversation going around this place. Sounds like there’s a decent chance it ends up happening though. The Bears will probably get him for a 7th though.
Better source on this one?
this means the bears are going to be aggressive to find his replacement, which means we will be going against them to get a solid replacement for concussion mcgee. lame
There we go
I like Crosby, but I’d take young for sure over him, probably stills too, Nash not so much.
What you did there I seen it.
This seems a bit over the top for the Vikings but it seems some here have reached that point. I personally am not quite there yet but I am usually wrong.
https://thevikingage.com/nfl-insider-uses-perfect-analogy-describe-minnesota-vikings-j-j-mccarthy-relationship
Well we are certainly well past the honeymoon period.
That is true, maybe even going to ‘Couples Counseling’
Dow going down “bigly” today…
Market doesn’t like ‘Uncertainty’ and there is a lot of that out there currently.
It was down over 1,000 points earlier today.
Trying to bounce back a little.
Probably won’t though until Iran says Uncle.
My personal biggest concern at the moment in that theater of war is some fishing boat in the Gulf of Oman or Straits of Hormuz spotting one of the fifth fleet vessels, calling the right people, and Iran unleashing a swarm attack with their drones or fast attack craft or whatever they call their speedboats armed with a couple of torpedoes or missiles. Asymmetric warfare and the hull loss of a US naval vessel and most of its crew would have far reaching effects.
I don’t know if they have any of those boats left. A lot of coral reefs have been created the last few days.
I would be stunned if Iran were able to pull that off, but yeah, you sink a battleship and orangeman bad becomes raging orangeman bad squared.
It is not as if they Admirals and Cdrs in the area have not considered the possibility and taken actions to mitigate the threat.
Think we in this country have come to believe you can conduct major warfare with little to no casualties because of our recent “no harm” successful activities.
Broader history would suggest casualties come with major undertakings.
‘Broader history would suggest casualties come with major undertakings’
No one is arguing otherwise. We have 6 casualties to date and the Israelis have more.
If they lose a warship to ‘drones’ and ‘speedboats’ they will go thru the Leadership’s decision making with a fine tooth comb and heads will roll. The Leadership knows this and will make sure all possible defenses are in place.
No one here is. Elsewhere different.
Older adults who avoid certain food group less likely to reach 100, study finds | Fox News
It’s just so hard to know what to believe anymore…..This study says if you are over 80 and you want to make a 100, you have to eat meat. Studies in the past have said a plant based diet is better for longevity.
I guess eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you may die.
I remember me Dr trying to talk me into a more ‘plant based diet’. He was build like a vegetarian, lean, no muscles. I did decide to eat less ‘red meat’ but chicken and pork are still a large part of my diet.
I had a 300 lb doc trying to lecture me on my diet, I laughed at him.
Sounds like my ex father in law, did you spend any time in North-East ND??
Good man but not very fit, especially for a Dr.
No, I avoid that part of North Dakota. This was in Bismarck.
It is a pretty nice area, when it is not winter.
They grow a lot of potatoes there, I remember going for a run and having to avoid potatoes on the side of the road that fell off the trucks during harvest.
Good people as well, but that goes for all of ND.
In Grand Forks, there was (is?) a big potato processing plant called Simplot on Hwy 2 (Gateway Drive). We lived in a mobile home park about four blocks away, plus the campus is also right next door. Certain times of years potatoes would litter the highway, you’d run them over with a soft “plop”. But when that place geared up to make hash browns or whatever they made there that whole side of town stunk of boiling potatoes and for lack of a better word hot dirt. Was not a pleasant smell.
I hauled many loads of potatoes into that plant back in my truck driving days.
It was in Grafton, they did the growing, not so much the processing.
The locals at the time said that they sent a lot of potatoes to Idaho as Seed Potatoes. No idea how true that is/was.
Seriously, as someone who is fast approaching this group, muscle loss is a big deal. You really have to work hard to keep or just hold your own in this area. And I have found you really need to load protein and red meat works the best.
Get those good vitamins. Try replacing beef with venison (Elk, Deer) if possible and or Buffalo if you can. Obviously its more expensive but its far more nutrient dense, more protein per weight then modern beef and is super lean. You can get your healthy fats else where.
Thanks. We have a lot of seafood down here but a little light on elk and deer. Once in a while am able to get a buffalo burger.
Fish is SO good for you. That Mediterranean diet. There’s a reason they have the longest life span on earth. They are fairly active and walk most places and eat mostly sea food, veggies, nuts, fruit, lots of olive oil. Not sure how much you would want to spend on shipping and things but we get this brand here at Natural Grocers / Whole Foods and iv enjoyed it. Made Wild Boar Bolognese sauce. Looks like they have venison.
Grass Fed Ground Venison
Natural Grocers is a great store, I shop there.
I need to go there more. But, I have my own deer and fish from Alaska in my freezer still so, im set for awhile haha.
I need to get to Alaska & load up on halibut
I might have a few big fillets of that and some ling cod if you want some? I am one man, and those fillets are MASSIVE , way too much for me so I’d rather a family take them and get a full meal for everyone.
Will look into it. Thanks.
Do get my share of good seafood down here.
Eat meat
Recall George Burns was asked what was his secret to longevity. His response – five good cigars and three stiff martinis a day. Think Winston Churchill followed a similar protocol.
That’s always what I think of, too
Churchill drank like a fish….even more than my fairly aggressive intake. Estimates are he had 12 to 14 drinks a day over 14 hours, every day. Lived to be 90, bot a bad run back then.
I am no health nut (that’s the wife’s department) but I certainly grew up on the food pyramid. I didn’t adhere to it though. I have been a meat and potatoes guy my whole life. I love corn, peas, and baked beans too. Also love bread and butter. Pizza? Yeah… sounds good. Hamburgers and fries? Yep. BBQ and coleslaw… definitely.
I ate a bowl of grape nuts with a banana sliced up in it for breakfast for decades.
Now, my wife is careful with my diet (for me) and I eat less bacon, less sugar, and less fat. I eat more salads than ever, and she is good about making meals that are tasty, but still “healthy” in her eyes. She makes soups from scratch, and I love them. Very tasty.
I still think I would be fine on a predominately meat and potatoes diet, but what do I know?
With all of the “health science” out there, it really is pretty simple.
Don’t eat a lot of processed foods.
Meat, Veggies and fruit.
Don’t over indulge on any one diet.
Eat, drink and be merry has worked for decades.
No need to change it.
Yup, eat real food and STAY ACTIVE.
Other part of the deal. Stay active and rest well with a clear head. Stress is terrible for the body.
Yepper
Consider the source of the “studies” and follow the morning. Coca-Cola and Sugar companies literally paid for studies that showed heart disease and bad diets were based on too much red meat and natural healthy fats, not sugar. I’ve lost so much trust in our medical systems and anyone with a shred of power and control. Corrupt all the way down. Your body knows whats good for you, clean, healthy, natural protein, healthy carbs, rice, whole veggies for carbs and to make you feel more full. All in balance. You are good as far as diet. That’s not to say genetically something else will fail and take you out but, it wont be because of your diet.
Amen
I don’t want to live to 100, that likely means I’ve had to put to rest basically all my friends and family.
A site called Moneywise says Beckham had an eight-figure, $100 million contract. Ummmmm…….?
Why NFL Star Odell Beckham Jr. May Struggle On His $20M/Year Salary
Not sure they’re overly knowledgeable on money, $100 million is 9 figures, last time I counted.
Mayhaps they mean $20M a year as ‘eight-figures’?
Although math is not my bag.
Ah, I never thought of that. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Either that or they’re just really stupid.
Usually we use yesterday’s post and today we get to use tomorrow’s. A crazy world we are living in.
He’s just planning ahead.
Shit, oops.
Fixed it, thanks
Now you are just making me look stupid.
