Vikings News

Snap counts and PFF (collie molester) grades from Sunday, Darnold and the Cashman led the way in grades, the Cashman and VanGinkel have made a big impact on the defense.

Story about the penalties from Sunday’s game, the personal foul on Addison was terrible, but the rest were mostly legit

KOC called the Darnold/Jones fumble “catastrophic

Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, (he sucks, I know) says KOC is a legit HC of the year candidate

NFL News

As of right now Houston leads Dallas 20-10, Dallas just kicked a 64 yard field goal, but accepted a personal foul on the play to take points off the board, only to later give the ball up on downs after failing on 4th and 2 from the Houston 7. We’ll see if that play is a deciding factor.

I’ve had this song stuck in my head the last couple days…

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

I’m cleaning out a house, it was a foreclosure. We filled a 30 yard dumpster today. If you don’t know, that’s a REALLY big dumpster.

They’re coming in the morning to take the dumpster & bring me another. We’ll fill it again. Crazy, LOTS of crap in that house & yard. Holy hell.

Not much input from NLNVF this week.
I assume he is busy putting in his resume for The DOGE.
I imagine he has some good ideas about where the Gov/Pentagon can make some cuts.

One of the things I admire about the Democrats, and there isn’t much, they stick together like a band of thieves.
Just look at our Republican Senator teammates. How many do you think will bolt from the Gaetz nomination?
All so typical.

Once TD starts putting pressure on those Senators I expect most to fall in line.

DT ‘Why do you oppose me having my team confirmed’?
Senator ‘He/they are ‘unqualified and have too many enemies’.
DT ‘So ‘all my enemies’ say I am unqualified so by that logic I shouldn’t be President?’
Senator ‘Not exactly what I am saying…. ummm’.
DT ‘They get in there and vote to confirm him/them.’

He’s already doing that.
Reading in Politco or somewhere, a Republican said Well we have our advise responsibility and went on to say if the House won’t provide the Ethics Report, they will subpeona the young lady Gaetz was suppose to have had sex with. That’s a Republican – believe a guy from SD or ND (Croyn or something).
And then you have our lady Senators from Alaska and Maine.
This will require a recess appointment.

The ‘incident’ has been ‘under investigation’ for 3 years now.
DOJ could not find anything to prosecute, and they hate Gaetz, so now it is a political football.

They did find text messages from a guy who Gaetz refused to give a job to, who threatened revenge who then was texting with the girl that accused Gaetz. The same guy also admitted to somebody in jail that she was under the assumption she was going to get paid for these accusations.

This is Washington.
Not enough to prosecute does not mean innocent in the ethics world of politics.
That said, would bet a fortune if the house ethics report was ‘clean’, it wold already be released and Gaetz wouldn’t have resigned the day before it was to be released.

Then why are the repubs scrambling. ‘Nothing to prosecute’ will be different from an Ethics Review.
Of course DOJ hate Gaetz, but so do a lot of Republicans for what he did to McCarthy.
Mt guess (from some friends) Gaetz had sex with a young girl – not sure of age, and uses cocaine. Now, no big deal to me, and certainly the way Democrats act (like Clinton), should be no big deal to them.
He may get thru, but this will be a huge mess.

Enough – will close with this.
Gaetz might be perfect to clean up DOJ, but also believe he is trash and there’s probably more than just a little smoke about all of this. I also have the ass at him for making the Repub Party look like crap in the house over his personal vendetta against McCarthy ( which was over his ethics).
That said, even if he is a total dog, I also believe he’s DT’s pick and all Repub Senators should confirm him and stop all the grand standing they are doing.

It bothered me simply because it made the Republican’s ability to mange the House look like crap. I am neutral on McCarthy.

Well then we will disagree. I also like Johnson better. Not the point at all. But, he has done exactly what McCarthy had to do to pass a CR – negotiate with the dems which is why the five all star repubs wanted McCarfthy canned.
Now, managing the house as well as the Senate, is always difficult but that has absolutely nothing to do with Gaetz behavior.

I don’t think it had to do with as much what he did as how he did it.
The Freedom Party complained at the time about how they were being lied to.
Johnson has had to negotiate but he has done a better job of explaining what he was doing and why. McCarthy didn’t feel the need to do as much of that.
The hard liners might not agree with all that Johnson does but but they understand what he is doing and why. It has helped him hold things together better that McCarthy did.

As I said, I LIKE Johnson better.
But the Freedom Group actually hurt us. They wanted cuts to sign CR. We didn’t have votes, actually lost some other Repubs and the CR’s fail. So rather than have the Repubs get blamed for gov’t shutdown. both of our Speakers had to go to the Dems to get the votes to pass – and they extracted some prices. Now, if our Freedom had gone along with both Speakers we would have been better off.

Subaru update….It’s been 10,000 miles since I got it back from its extended stay in the garage where they basically replaced everything except the motor.

However, it appears that they did not replace the catalytic converter…dashboard lights are intermittently flashing which would indicate the converter is beginning to fail……Shit.

It’s about 4,000 dollars to replace it, I won’t be doing that. I will just drive it with a failing converter as long as I can.

thanks Government for mandating better gas mileage at the expense of reliability.

So, if I found a low mileage 2024 with the engine I want, I would consider that. Otherwise I am looking at a Mazda CX70/90 or a Honda Pilot

I drive a Pontiac Vibe for my go-to-work car, which is basically a Toyota Matrix. Been driving it for seven years. I forget its exact mileage. Somewhere over 200,000.

The largest repair I have done on it is replacing coil pack.

Honda & Toyota are the top, I looked at everything when I got a car for the business. It came down to an Accord or a Camry, there was really no compeition.

The continually variable transmissions are nice, but they’re expensive as hell when they go out, and they go out. We have one in my wife’s Acura, I want to get rid of it while the mileage is low & price is high. I don’t want to replace that transmission.

Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League #11

I don’t know what went wrong. I had it on good authority that every pick I made was exactly right. Yet, I somehow ended up in almost last place in the weekly scoring. The whole game is rigged. The refs are in on it. So are all of you! I think it is only fair to warn you that I will be reporting this to the local police. Expect a knock on your door shortly. And when you are locked up behind bars, and you beg me for mercy, I will look upon your plight and say, “No…”

But, hey, at last I’m not at the bottom in the overall standings. Little Fishin’ and Bowbunch are currently lurking in that general area, but they are not that far out of it, all things considered. They are both still in the 800s and have the capacity to ascend, especially in a rigged game where everything is against me to drag me down.

JacksonVike and Freezeface are only three points apart in the 8 & 9 spots. Surely, next week, one of them is going to drop the other and shoot to the top of the rankings, laughing maniacally with the exhilaration of their rapid flight to loftier heights.

Maybe they can even get up to me. I still sit in no man’s land in the 7 position. DE looks miles above me with a 45 point lead over me in number 6. 45 is my favorite number. Maybe that is a good omen. I just like the sound of it. 45. Plus, it is a cool gun caliber, and a neat gun in my vernacular. I always called the 1911 a “forty-five.” That is what my dad called it, so that is what I call it.

Kirk is still good (not sure Atlanta fans agree), I’d rather be fishing and Surly are in a tight race in the 3-5 spots. I believe Kirk is still good has actually dropped down a spot. It just goes to show you can only ride the wave of success for so long before someone hungrier is going to knock you off your pedestal.

That hungry player is NoDakRube. He jumps into second place. Surely, his eyes are glazed right now with all of the glitz and glory that comes with second place. I only hope he can keep the groupies at arm’s length. They are many a champion’s downfall. They don’t actually love you NoDakRube. They just love what you represent.

Bleeding Purple ‘N Gold maintains his stranglehold on the number one position like a new Mariah Carey song. Can he be stopped? Time will tell!

Iconoclast Picks go to me and Freeze for picking Washington over Eagles. I was surprised we were the only ones who did that. I would have guessed that game would have been split pretty evenly. Freeze gets another Iconoclast award for picking Chicago over Detroit, along with JacksonVike. JacksonVike also gets another Iconoclast Award for being the only person to pick NE over the Rams.

Genius Picks go to Surly and Bowbunch for picking Indy over the Jets.

Everyone got Detroit, Minnesota, Miami and Houston correct. Everyone got SF wrong. Surprising result there. I picked SF because I know a Seahawks fan who said they haven’t beat the 49ers in like 123 games. I didn’t bother checking that stat because…that would require homework. What am I? Still in high school? Homework is for losers.

Dog of the Week goes to Kirk for losing 38-6. I finally got a Kirk game right this week. Probably the best strategy is to pick Kirk to win or lose every time. Then you will be right half of the time. If you try to pick individual games, you can easily get off track and pick a W when it is a L and vice versa. That is the curse of a .500 QB. The main reason I saw all that is so I can use this image…

Oh yeah, that should be “Green Bay” and not “Detroit,” shouldn’t it?

I blame the fog of rage I am living under because I was cheated. Cheated, I tell you! It makes it hard to think straight.

That is some funny stuff.

FYI, Now that I have ascended to 2nd place, I did post the Skoloholic standings on my office door in hopes of attracting the groupies, so far no luck.

Put your net worth underneath the Skoloholics standings. That will draw them in!

Both Great ideas….

Although I am not in Gouger’s league, I have been gainfully employed my whole life and have lived a modest lifestyle (I’m cheap), so my net worth is in good shape….that may attract a few groupies, but frankly I am too young for the gold diggers –

We tried the Wild Turkey with coke yesterday….not great but we actually liked that better than mountain dew.

Next you should try Dr. Pepper/Wild Turkey shots.
Only because The Teacher is addicted to Dr Pepper so it will be something new to tease her about.

In college, one of my roommates went on a big Dr. Pepper/Root Beer Schnapps kick and dragged me along. I ended up breaking out in hives from that combination.

Still, we had some fun times, though, while drinking it.

Another combo he got on for awhile was getting a bottle of Tropicana Twister and dumping a bunch of vodka into it.

Not my favorite, but again…we had some fun!

The best part is it was good fun, too. No stupid regrets. Just two drunk guys living their best lives. For example, one time we were sitting on a couch, and I decided I was going to ride a couch cushion down the stairs. It seemed like a good college-party thing to do, so I did it.

Didn’t even wreck anything!

Good times indeed! Are you still friends with that guy?

With my Elderly taste buds all of those mixes seem to sweet for me now. I would much rather just have good straight whiskey on the rocks.

But back in college, yes, it was all of that silly shit.

I only rarely see that guy anymore. I’ve been trying to arrange a get together of that crew for almost a year, and no one’s schedules can match up. Life gets hectic.

In high school, my friend and I stopped at Subway to get supper. I ordered a Mountain Dew with sandwich. Don’t know why, probably just a habit. Get out to the car, crack open a Bud Light (pre-woke Bud Light), and at that moment a cop pulled up. I quickly dump the beer into my MD cup, which was about half full, or half empty depending. Stuff the can under the seat. I preceded to drink the glorious mixture.

I have tried this with other light beers, but none tasted as good.

Never tried beer and pop. Nowadays, there is probably a beer/Mountain Dew combo-like craft beer somewhere that some guy in a beret orders and praises its fruity undertones.

I have also tried Nordeast IPA with 1919 root beer. You have to get the portions spot on, otherwise it tastes like Redman chew.

Takes me back to my HS days, a 2-liter bottle of Root Beer and Root Beer Schnapps mixed 50/50. Teachers never had a clue.

They’ll be fired soon, and not replaced. Jerruh needs to pay for some renovations.

No renovations needed. The players just need to get used to the sun like they do everywhere else in their lives.

Jerrah, said he would not remove a coach mid-season. So, he pretty much said once the season is over McC is gone at least.

They’ll promote Zim to HC when they fire McCarthy. It makes no sense, but that’s what’ll happen.
