One of my first days on the job as a lab tech here in GDV after leaving Canadia forever I told a patient “I’m here to draw another blood gas why don’t you just sit here on the chesterfield it’ll take aboot 3 minutes” and she said “oh what part of Canada are you from”? was rather confused by that but last week I was taking a shower at a campground and the guy in the next shower struck up a convo with me, within ten seconds I asked what part of Alberta he was from omg the accent (he was from just south of Leduc).

I’ve always been friendly and polite. It’s one of the reasons I love GDV…can take me ten minutes to get milk in the store just visiting with people.
I hold a door open at a Target in Billings or Bismarck and say, “how’s your day going”? and occasionally get a suspicious look or silence.
The shower guy had actually put some of his belongings on the bench in my shower stall (ostensibly so they wouldn’t get wet) and explained that to me as I was hanging my towel on the hook, I said hey no worries why don’t you come over and I’ll soap your back so that was nice it wasn’t weird at all.

I was injecting a shoulder on a hs football player yesterday and the left glove turned almost 180 degrees as I donned it…my hand was still a little damp from the sink…I’m awkwardly trying to turn it with my right gloved hand which wasn’t on all the way either…trying to maintain sterility…room grew pretty quiet…I spoke up “this shouldn’t make you nervous at all that I am going to place a needle in pinpoint position but it takes me three minutes to put on a glove”
Thats funny! I mean I know what you are talking about when I am trying to get golf gloves on each hand..typically in humid weather…it can be difficult.
If I haven’t self donned a sterile gown (rare to gown in radiology) and gloves in a long period of time I am a complete goof it takes me considerable time. Mind I’m sure in the OR the surgeon never has to self don their gowns and gloves but rads is just a less privileged place.

Played 9 holes this afternoon at a little 2500 yard nine hole course with 3 par 4’s and two par 5’s and the rest par 3’s. Lots of elevation and some very tight windows from the tee boxes to make it challenging. Par is 34 I shot a 38! By far the best I’ve played after 4 straight days of playing.
Congratulations – 4 over for 9 is great! Length doesn’t matter.

Yeah and I still missed some easy putts I should have made for birdies but never lost a ball on a course that is easy to do so and drove the ball fantastic.
I guess if you play more you do get better. I played 63 holes over the past 4 days. Mrs played 45 holes the past 3 days so her golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis) is singing to her. I feel great could play 18 every day it seems.
Playing a lot does help! No substitute for being on the course
