Minnesota Vikings Discussion Topic of the Day
The Vikings are still in the hunt for the NFC North title but they can’t lose this weekend. I think most of us will agree that the Lions are the team who will challenge the Vikings for the top spot. The Packers have a decent defense, but are limited offensively. The Bears are the Bears and don’t appear to be making any major positive strides this year.
This all being said, what do you think about the two recent signings by the Vikings? Too little to late or just in time?

I’ve seen about 20 sports shows the last few days and most (about 19) had nothing but the playbook of excuses for his play – coaching, you name it.
One actually broke plays down and showed how screwed up he is. And actually debunked the he’s thinking too much stuff and showed he needs to really start thinking like a QB.

I got into some trouble about 3 years ago when I went to the bathroom at a bar and came back to see this guy chatting my wife up. I’m 65 at the time, and let’s just say I’m not the physically imposing dude I once was in my prime. This guy is about 6’2″ and 230 lbs. I walk up ask my wife what’s going on. This guy looks at me and says “fuck off dude I saw her first”. I dislocated his elbow and walked out of the bar with my wife.

Sorry man…. These little guys are the best part of my day (aside from my wife)
I concur. We had Holly for 13 years, she was a lab-pit mix we got from a rescue organization.
She had Parvo as a puppy (which we got treated)
She developed mitral regurgitation two year ago then this year went into atrial fibrillation..
I had numerous echocardiograms done on her and started her on the dog equivalent of Milrinone, she made it four more months but stopped eating and I knew it was time.
We still have her ashes above the fireplace, haven’t decided what to do with them.
I have two 17 year old cats, I can’t introduce a puppy into their world, wouldn’t be fair to them.

I still have Jack’s ashes (2016) on the bookshelf, I want to place them under a newly planted oak tree once I get some irrigation on my arid place.
Holly had a favorite spot in the yard to sleep in the sun, I still look out there expecting to see her sometimes.
Did you burry her there? I think I would have. Our beloved cat had a favorite spot too lay around in the back yard…we had him cremated and sprinkled his ashes there. Pets are great until they die.
We had her cremated and the ashes returned to us, we were going to pour her ashes out there but none of us can bring ourselves to do it.
I had a photograph book made through Walgreens, the book and her ashes are on the fireplace mantel next to each other.
My first Golden made it 6 years before cancer got her. I buried her beneath my deer stand. Then my Dad aged and cannot hunt up north anymore, so his stand became my stand, and my stand my nephew’s stand. I feel guilty.
My second Golden made it 5 years and 2 litters of pups before cancer got her. We had her cremated, and I plan on putting her ashes next to my first one’s grave so they can keep each other company.
Oh no that is terrible luck with the cancer.
I had a basset/newfoundland mix named Wallace as an early adult. Got him in college and he went from MN to SD to ND to CO. He was a stubborn SOB but incredibly loyal, loving, and smart. Right after he turned 9 one day he was just the opposite of his normally rambunctious energetic self. He normally raced out the door and ran several laps around the yard before relieving himself but this day he just peed and layed down in the grass. He was like that the next day so to the vet we went, a scan revealed a very large tumor on his heart. He passed away that evening. In some ways I feel it was a blessing for him that it was so abrupt, but it certainly sucked as his owner.
When you look at the evolution over the years of our dogs…Zeus 1997-2010 went from daily pheasant hunting in season through the med school intern residency fellowship years traveled in the Civic or 4Runner for many hours long days home alone never complained Jack 2005-2016 got to the big house and yard in Billings morning and afternoon walks traveled in the back seat area of the pickup Tuck 2016-present doggy day care wide open country acreage lots of walks swimming bike rides rides in back seat area or between seats of RV used to sleep on our bed Bubba 2022-present completely spoiled outside dog run Vikings colors painted on a fire hydrant for his convenience rides on the bed in the RV etc…it really is the story of our married lives…got Zeus two weeks after we were married. I really can’t think of any adult memories without them entering into it.
Unfortunately if you live long enough, and love dogs, you get a chance to accumulate several vases. I am old and have several at various location around the house. They forever are part of the family.

I run into so many guys (at the public urinal – cough) that admire my chocos and then have a little cathartic discussion of their dog that passed fifteen years ago. The few times in my life I haven’t had a dog since graduating college were just incomplete.
It’s amazing how quiet my house is now, I didn’t realize how much we talked to her and she to us….plus the kids are gone.
Although Sammy (one of our cats) still follows me around the house so I can pet him.
