I have never bought a cell phone before.
I started using iPhone when I got my first smart phone. I’ve never had a problem with any of them, so I just keep using them.
My brother (worked at Apple) offered me an iPhone 1 when all his kids had already up graded past it. I kept that for far too long, no reason not to, until I was with The Teacher and she was upgrading and said I needed an upgrade….to her old phone.
It has been that way ever since. Don’t even know what model I have now, she upgrades every 2 or 3 new models.

Have been keeping my eye open for a ‘garage freezer’ and I found one for $150, $70 off, a 5 cubic ft one at a store called ‘Bi-Mart’.
Never heard of it before found out they were a membership club with a $5 Lifetime Fee to join. They even have a decent gun selection, Aurora discussion below reminded me of the need for more home defense.
Went yesterday and found some pretty good deals if one is smart. Got a 6qt Crockpot to replace my old one while still being about to use the old dish portion so we have 2, for $30, $15 cheaper than we found anywhere else. So the ‘fee’ has already paid for itself.
We chose to wait on the freezer since we don’t need it currently had we probably won’t if Trump wins. They are currently building a store closer to us so kind of a fun find.

Lifer was a bit “different”. He worked at a place with a simulator. He had customized, top of the line clubs, he supposedly gave people lessons, and he worked on his mental game. He said he could hit his seven wood over 200 yards. Yet, with all that, he couldn’t break 90.
I wondered about all of that?
Did he do all that or not. Or was he actually a good golfer and just screwing with us with all his golf antics.
Was amusing his tales of blowup holes.
The older I got, the more I just wanted to hit the ball decently straight. My “bread and butter” shot was a sort of pull draw down the right side. Folks would tell me “you’re lined up way right” then I would hit that shot, and they’d be like “OK”. I likened it to a Kenny Perry swing, but I’m not sure. I can hit the ball with a fade, but sometimes hit the dreaded “double-cross” shot with it.
Anyway, I beat a lot of guys hitting “good enough” shots, on my way to a mid 80’s round.
So both the Vikings and the Giants are predicted to finish last in their respective Divisions this year. Who will be the “best of the worst” in 9 days?

I agree with NLNMF way down at the bottom of the thread that QB play is our biggest question mark.
After watching Mullins play last year I am thinking 6-7 wins max.
Can Sam be an upgrade? He has not been so far in his career. If KOC can unfuck his head and make him an ‘adequate’ NFL QB then we might see 8-9 wins.
Can Mullins progress and not throw so many completions to the other team? Seems like he is who he is at this point, but he didn’t throw any Ints in Preseason so is there hope? Maybe a little bit.
Can a miracle happen and Sam plays like the #3 draft pick he was, conceivable but I have no hope that it will happen.
If Sam can be ‘good enough’ and the defense can make a step forward (possible) and we play smart football and not shoot ourselves in the foot too often. Heck maybe throw in some semblance of a running game to boot, along with a decent kicker (#nojinx) I can see us getting to 10 wins and a wild card spot.
Do I expect it? No. Can it happen, possibly but I doubt it is probable. So luckily I am so very used to the Viking Fan Credo ‘Hope for the best but expect the Worst’.

Monday was Zeph’s 100th day after the bone marrow transplant. Tuesday they did a bone marrow biopsy to determine the success of the transplant. It takes about 2 weeks to get the complete results back, however the doctor took a thorough look under the microscope and his preliminary take on the sample is that it looks “amazing”. We are all very excited to say the least.

Our son has to fly out in a few days since he has to report back for duty on the 4th of Sep. Once my wife gets done packing up a suitcase of our granddaughters clothes for him to take back, we are going down to see them. If the “amazing” results turn out to be “truly amazing”, then the rest of the family will be following him out in a couple of weeks. Our granddaughter is very much looking forward to things getting back to normal.

Fantastic news. My best friends kid dealt with something similar and luckily got to “ring the bell” in January. Praying for the same for you guys. This good news is much appreciated. Cancer seems to be popping up in too many people I know these days. My neighbor just found out he may have cancer and the neighbor across the street died from cancer last week. Stay strong and keep fighting.

QOTD. Going with 7 wins…I don'[t think the roster is as weak as some think here, BUT I do think the QB play is going to be brutal. He is ranked as the 30th best starting QB by some ‘experts’…..Sounds about right. I hope the ‘experts’ and I are wrong.
The hope (our hope) is that they’re basing his projection on performance with past teams, which supposedly has little bearing on his performance with OUR team.
Personally, I think Sammy is gonna come out hot, then when we get Hock and Lush back he’s gonna cook.

Typically at this time of year I predict 20-0 for the Vikings. I’m not feeling it this year. I am afraid we are going to end up in the 3 to 6 wins range and be a massive disappointment. Even though JJ is out, Darnold will lose his job by no later than mid-year.

There may have been lots of Minnesota QBs that had a knee injury, but there has never been one with two. He got it out of the way early, ends up with a sitting year like many wanted and comes back next year ready to go. If he wouldn’t have gotten hurt we would have been arguing all year whether he should be playing or not. We can now enter the 2025 season on a united front.

IF Darnold somehow plays well, the Vikings could have a winning season, maybe even garnering a wild card spot. If he’s the same old Sam Darnold, we might not win 4 games.
but all in all, i’m still excited to watch this year and see what we got. I’m more interested in seeing the defense….since our offense will look different next year with JJ at qb and a new running back (Jones won’t stick around, unless he stays healthy and wants to stay here to see what we can do with JJ)
I don’t see Sam as a issue one way or the other. The Packers and the Lions are the issue, and now the Bears who have loaded up have Williams.

My guess is that Detroit wins the division by 2 or 3 games, barring injuries, and the other 3 finish within 1-2 games of each other. I could see the order of the 3 going any way and will come down to which team stays the healthiest.
I guess the opposite. Packers eck out Lions for the division. Think Love unfortunately is another Rogers and the Lions coach is good for blowing a game or two.

The NFCN will be a battle of .500 teams.

every team in the division is on an upward trajectory, i feel like the vikes are pretty even in terms up not going up and not going down.
I actually do like where all of the analysts have this.

I want to emphasize, I am not hoping for a terrible record this year, but if we are not going to be good enough for a playoff spot, I want to be bad enough for a top 5 draft spot.
I am also hoping that Rogers falls off the cliff this year and the Jets are desperate for a QB and willing to trade up. Which they always seem to be willing to move up to get “their QBOF”.
If we can get a mid 1st, 2nd and possibly 3rd this year for our draft spot, I would be happy.
However, I see us winning 8-10 games and still missing the playoffs. Getting a 15-20 draft slot and hopefully we can get a shut down corner in the draft.

I am not much of a college football guy…but the NDSU Colorado game was good last night and the Goophies game was apparently entertaining….NAIA schools SHOULD NOT EVER be playing FBS or FCS schools…thats just stupid…neither team is going to get anything out of that.

State fair yesterday. I have a few thoughts. Here is my food review.
I used to be able to eat a lot more, and maybe I could have, but that was enough.
I know that Gizmos are decent, and so are the Walleye cakes or Won Tons at Giggles, and El Burrito has some very good things. I just did not want to be overstuffed.
Motley Crue put on a very fun show. After seeing some of the fail videos on you tube I had lowered my expectations. I really enjoyed the show. Also, what is with 20 year old girls flashing the stage? I did not mind, but how do they even know who Motley Crue is?
Stayed away from all political booths. Win
Won a stuffed thing (actually 2) in the Midway. Can still shoot the stupid star out with the bb gun. And knock down things with a baseball even though I sucked at baseball.
I get a fried chicken waffle cone, then get fried pickles and add them to it, the combo of pickles, chicken, syrup, and country gravy may sound weird but its amazing

Sam sucks but not likely any worser than the turd combo of Dobbs/Hall/Mullens that went 3-5 last year. If they actually stay healthy on defense I think you’re right, if it ends up like last year where the last few weeks you’re starting PS players at CB they’re screwed.

Darnold has been in the league for six seasons (in his seventh now) and has a career completion percentage of 59.7% with 63 TD’s and 56 interceptions. He has a career passer rating of 78.3.
To date, one would have to label him a bust since he was the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 draft, but maybe he’s just a late bloomer.

I’m in the camp that both KAM and KOC knew in 2022 that Cousins would be gone in 2024, so how is it they decided Darnold was a great idea?
i think they knew cousins would be gone, they have to “compete” so they got a “Vet” qb who has “untapped potential” because koc is the “qb whisperer” because dobbs had 2 good games….and they knew they would be drafted a qb in this years draft to sit and grow and learn and roll him out in 2025
that’s my thoughts on it.
KAM may have known that but no way in hell KOC didn’t want Cousins back.
KOC admitted that when he was hired, he understood Cousins was not in KAM’s long term plan for the Vikings.
KOC got hired because of Cousins pushing it in the front office – above KAM.
And Cousins is the perfect type QB for our type of offense.
I have never heard that take (KOC was hired because Cousins pushed for him to the front office) you may have a scoop there JR.
Cousins is absolutely the perfect QB for KOC’s system, but KAM does the hiring and firing. KOC said in an interview he and KAM discussed “this day” (meaning the day Cousins left) when he was hired.
KAM planned to keep Cousins on one year deals until no longer needed, and hopefully have him on a contract without a no trade clause, so he get something for him.

In a 45-15 vote on Wednesday, the State Assembly passed a final version of Assembly Bill 1840, making California the first state in the country to hand out loans to illegal aliens looking to buy homes. This is yet another progressive incentive for illegal immigrants to illegally enter the United States— at the expense of hard-working taxpayers.
The bill has drawn immense criticism from Republicans who say the measure is a “betrayal” to California residents and further promotes illegal immigration. This comes as California currently faces a $68 billion budget deficit.
Its called being neighborly and accepting to the new comers.
