Stephon Diggs is expected to “ruin” CJ Stroud… well, it wouldn’t surprise me if he tried, but Stroud seems too good a dude, and Ryans too good a coach to let it happen
Question of the Day
Happy labor weekend day to all. Who is your favorite Viking special teams player of all time? For me its Chris Walsh and it ain’t even close,

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
OK, normal Monday in the NFL, Thursday Night football is usually the focus. Chiefs vs the Ravens. Lamar has trimmed down after bulking up last year, and says he feels faster and more athletic. Mahomes reported to camp with what he called his “dad” bod, and frankly, fat. I imagine he’s back in shape now though.
Real football Thursday and Friday!
Saw that Kene Nwangwu, who was claimed off waivers by the Saints but failed his physical, is set to visit with the New York Jets on Monday.
Minn didn’t try to sign him to their PS from what I can see.
That NYT/Athletic article I posted earlier said he was too fragile and not physical enough and has only 88 career rushes.
Zimmer has brought on scorched earth.
🤣
The only guy who liked him he torched!
Crazy.
Zimba gets a job, and now the hate flows.
Seems odd.
Easy to see why the Wilfs wanted the ‘Kumbaya Kev type.
I guess.
Checked on Twinks. 14 innings w/o scoring. Boring as hell.
Ober has given up one hit so far today.
Unfortunately it was a 1st inning HR.
Just struck out the side in the 6th.
Royce with a big 3 run HR in the 8th and the closer didn’t screw it up.
Twinkies win 4-3 to take the series 2-1.
Now it is on to Tampa Bay.
3 and a half back with 26 games left…
Tied with KC for the 5th WC and 5.5 games ahead of Boston for being out of the playoffs.
Baseball is still going?
Kind of.
Good one,
Made me smile and The Teacher chuckle.
Interesting read, NYT/Athletic ‘mailbag’ on the Vikings.
Said Rypien is more ‘reliable’ than Hall and after last year that is more important to the Vikings.
Talked about the changes on the defense, need for a running game and more. Article is only a day old.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5734487/2024/08/31/vikings-mailbag-tj-hockenson-jaren-hall-kene-nwangwu/
My computer won’t let me read the article. By ‘reliable’ do they mean ‘durable’ as in can stay on the field which is now a bit of an issue for us?
If the link won’t work for you can you ‘copy’ it and ‘paste’ it in your browser address bar.
If that doesn’t work you can simply do a search for ‘Vikings News’ and get to it that way.
I have no idea how to do any of that. So, I’ll just guess Hall is to fragile to count on.
I could try to talk you through it but I have an iMac so it would not be the same for your computer.
This was the quote on ‘reliable’.
‘If you don’t think last year’s quarterback carousel scarred the Vikings’ leadership team, you’re wrong. On Thursday, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said, “You’re either one snap away, or you’re one snap from being one snap away.” In other words, reliable depth is vitally important.’
They also stated Rypien was more ‘reliable’ but didn’t explain how they, or the vikings defined it.
Thanks.
Then I have a suggestion for KAM. If you are going in the future with an athletic, mobile type QB, you better be prepared to a have a very reliable number two.
That is so true JR. In the end, all these “athletic” rookies who are very dependent on their legs to make plays (because they don’t know how to play QB in the NFL yet) are susceptible to injury. Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murphy, Daniel Jones, Justin Fields, Cam Newton, etc, all learned that running around in the NFL, gets you hurt.
200 Comments for a non Viking football event weekend?
Pretty good.
Upright and breathing, got a pulse, so far so good.
Really quiet around the NFL right now. No real news from anywhere. Teams locking it down before they hit the field next weekend.
Ravens vs the Chiefs should be a great game to kick the season off though.
Biggest current question I currently have is ‘why cut Hall for a mediocre journeyman’.
I get not thinking Hall is worth a roster spot, not sure his replacement is all that better given his unfamiliarity with the roster and barely being familiar with the offense.
I am mostly talking about the timing of the change, KOC trying to give Hall every chance before pulling the trigger? Then finding the ‘best of the leftovers’? Even watching his and KAMs statements on the issues I am not sure I understand.
Of course not being ‘sure of my understanding’ in not new for me.
KOC’s statement on this made little sense. Sort of like Hall has a bright future, we went another direction. WTH
They knew who Hall was before training camp, if they were going to replace him the new guy would have benefited from those Reps that were ‘wasted’ on Hall.
Hall cleared waivers yesterday and no one else has picked him up, not even worth a PS slot?
Honestly, the moves the Vikings front office make seem to be less than thoughtful, a lot. The first draft, KAM moving up and down the board for no apparent reason, then picking guys that made you raise your eyebrows. When they speak publicly, they seem to always end up saying how great their relationships are with the players, how much they care, etc. and absolutely nothing else.
That first draft was a major cluster*ck no doubt.
2nd draft was better, although that was almost an accident with not being able to trade and having to ‘settle’ on Addison.
Last draft was better as he got two ‘blue chips’ although the cost was high, worth it? time will tell.
Where he as made is capital is with late rounders/UDFAs.
No doubt some of the moves have been head scratchers, Cleveland last year?? Still doubt we have heard the real story behind that whole situation.
I don’t know. KAM strikes me as someone very impressed with himself and little more. Folks here think he’s still learning, and that’s fine. I don’t agree. You hire a guy with no experience at all to run your billion dollar business? Oh, he’s still learning… no. You hire a qualified person who can come in day one, and run the show, like John Lynch and the Forty Niners. He blasted his first draft out of the park. The team is built to win, and that’s what it does.
Well John Lynch is a poor example for your argument.
He had no experience in ‘running a billion dollar business’ as the highest position he held prior to being name GM was OC.
A lot of people said he was unqualified when he was hired.
Were they wrong? Hindsight says obviously yes. But he had no more qualifications at the start than KAM did.
Actually, Lynch had invested a lot of time in his career, learning about contracts, player evaluations, player selection, etc. He came in knowing exactly how to build a team, and understanding the cap.
The results speak for themselves, Lynch has done an excellent job.
Bashing KAM for not having experience ‘running a billion dollar business’ and using Lynch as an example is my point.
KAM is obviously still learning as evidenced by the last 3 drafts as I pointed out above. The Wilfs went by qualities they wanted over experience. Are they wrong? No idea, but lots of ‘experienced guys’ have fallen flat on their face. And some inexperienced guys have thrived, case in point John Lynch‘.
I guess I see experience differently. 15 years in the NFL? Won a Super Bowl? Played with some of the greatest coaches and teams in the NFL?
That’s experience. Lynch knew exactly how to build, and run a team when he was hired. He was indoctrinated. He was known in the league. He had a rep.
KAM hasn’t ever built anything, ever. He’s a finance guy, learning about the NFL.
Hindsight is 20/20. Lots of players have won rings and played with great coaches.
You are the one who cited experience ‘running a billion dollar business’. Lynch had as much of that as KAM did.
Citing Lynch as an example is much like saying we should only draft QBs in the 6th round since it worked so well for New England.
I said someone experienced to run a billion dollar business, but I guess I’m caveating the kind of business has to be considered in that equation. I get what you’re saying. I’m saying Lynch has 100 times the experience in the NFL that KAM has. He knows the business, the players, the coaches, the GM’s the owners, etc.
Yes Lynch was more of a football guy and SF got a unicorn with him coming in and doing so extremely well.
We can certainly agree on that.
Think the Niners have a big advantage. They are really run by two great football minds )can’t speak to the contract stuff). But Lynch knows defense and Shanny knows offense. They both know what they want/need on both sides of the ball. And their just not just good, Lynch is a HOF defender, and Shanny is very close to the best offensive mind in football.
Yes SF has a great team to guide it.
We started with two with no experience in their position KAM and KOC, adding Coach Flo to the mix is a plus IMHO.
Don’t care much to get into the experience thing or runnning a billion dollar business, but you mention ” qualities the Wilfs wanted over experience.” I’m curious what those qualities would be?
Well Analytics is a big one obviously.
Financial experience is probably another.
Not privy to what else they were looking for but experience was obviously lower on the list.
Although looking back, Analytics and Financial experience is still experience just different ones.
Maybe qualities meaning not like Slick and Zim? More team players than autocrats.
Have no idea what KAM is doing. Been told here he is clearing up all the cap problems and gaining flexibility. In my world that’s called cleaning up the balance sheet.
But I guess unlike my world – where you are expected to get performance in the short run as well as the long run – here you can sacrifice the short term. Will get you fired in the business world.
It’s the ‘quality’ that counts.
Was reading around, I’m learning, at other sites talking about Viking football. Man, will just say “less is more.”
I can help with Quantity, Quality is not really my ‘thing’.
Scheffler pretty much running away with the Tour Championship at East Lake. Anti-climatic finish in the end, and he’ll be the player of the year.
Golfed the Legends last night. I think I am going to golf less often on nicer courses next season vs having an annual pass at a shitty course. It was amazing.
Shot 45 on the front 9. Back 9 was a bit rough, but the beer kicked in and we got stuck behind some very slow golfers for the last few holes.
Still a great time. Nice weather, and an absolutely beautiful course.
Great to hear Surly. Playing a premium course in premium condition, makes you realize how much the course affects your score. So cool you got to play a nice course, and had fun. Golf should be fun.
Good morning, SKOL!
FTP!
Sitting here in Benson, MN, visiting family. It is beautiful up here today. It’s nice to be out of the humidity for a few days.
Good morning, and it’s very nice here in Tampa too. 75 degrees at the moment, but of course it’s gonna get hotter today. Probably up around 90.
Glad to see you made it there safely.
Welcome to the homeland! We do have great weather this week.
Good morning all. Been up since 6 a.m. and already had my coffee and an egg McMuffin. Fed the cat, showered, shaved, and dressed.
One week till our first foray against the Giants. I think we’re all wondering how good (or bad) we’ll be. I personally think we’ll be decent.
SKOL, FTP, FKH
If the Vikings lose to the Giants, the season is over for me. That game should be a lock, and the next 5 games will be more challenging.
It is the best chance we have early in the season.
If we can’t do in the little giants then I will be less certain of the next 5 as you say.
Starting out in that big a hole dooms the season IMHO.
Although expectations are tempered for this season having even an outside shot make all things football that much better.
SFPD Comments…
So one of the ‘suspects’ turned into the ‘victim’ was they got more info.
So he tried to fight the robber who had a gun, usually not very smart.
Hope he is not severely injured and am glad he stopped the perp from getting away.
Update:
Sad
Shot in the chest and walked to the ambulance after subduing the robber.
Sounds like a tough one, smart is another question taking on an armed robber like that. Not to mention hanging out in downtown Frisco.
Wow… hope he’s OK…
Must have been hanging around downtown SF.
Or most anywhere else in the Bay Area.
Lived there in ‘92 & ‘94, at Ft. Ord
Ft Ord
iswas more Santa Cruz than San Francisco.Union Station is pretty much downtown SF as I recall.
Twinks down 11-0 in 4th. Nice work.
Wow
Rookie called up to fill in Zebby Matthews gave up 9 ERs in two innings.
We have been hurting for Starting Pitching for awhile now.
Didn’t watch, glad i didn’t.
But we got 1 hit thru 5 innings so at least we have that going for us.
14-0 now,
But at least we are up to 3 hits after 7.
15-0 final.
And we got 4 entire hits.
Do we get a participation award?
Just got a ride in this, wow!
850 hp & over 800 ft/lbs of torque. 630 cubic inch GM motor, 1200 Holley carb. Broke the ass end loose at 80 mph.
Crazy
Awesome. You ever own a muscle car?
Not yet, I’ve helped friends work on theirs.
I have my eye on his 65 GMC pick up. I’d like to get it so my son and I can restore it together.
Pull the motor, do a frame-off restoration, drop an LT1 fuel injected motor in it.
My brother did that, got a classic pick up to restore.
Sat in the garage for years, figure he eventually sold it.
I built up a 73 Z-28 when I was a kid. LT1 350, Holley 780 double pumper, Edelbrock high rise intake manifold, 513 rear, high lift cam, 85 lb clutch, etc, etc. Pass everything but a gas station.
My dad acquired an old Moped, I asked if I could rebuild it so I could learn mechanics, and not have to walk almost 5m home for HS (I was going to start in the fall).
He said No, he had plans for that moped. It sat there and rotted and I walked him from HS for most of those 4 years.
Almost the same.
Laughing… so hard…
4:10 gears, never had a car glue me to the seat like this one did. I bet he has close to $20,000 in the drivetrain.
Liveforadrenaline would be salivating.
LOL, no. I wish it was mine.
Make him an offer. you are raking in Gouger levels of dough now.
He’ll never sell it.
He doesn’t take very good care of himself, I’ll out-live him.
Go Godfather on him, make him an offer he can’t refuse.
Does he have a horse who’s head you can borrow.
#joking
So the Aurora Police say that they gangs have not ‘taken over’ the apts.
They do admit that some gang members live there.
They do say that they are ‘gathering evidence’.
They did not address the reports that say police do not to respond to the complex.
So I guess it depends on your definition of ‘taken over’.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/aurora-police-react-alleged-venezuelan-gang-member-presence-apartments-have-not-taken-over
Country is a joke. Have a idiot like cackles and another idiot in Waltzy. She has not changed her values. WTF values are that?
I guess if you have no values you don’t have to worry too much about changing them.
I like where she said she made it clear prior to the 2020 election that she would ‘not ban fracking’ but lots of video showing her at the time promising to ‘ban fracking’.
Does she even know what fracking is at this point??
She doesn’t address media or press. Trying to be more moderate to buy votes. They get in you best fear for kids and grands.
‘It takes a village’ to raise your child.
AKA give us your child to raise in our image so they can vote for us when they are old enough.
AotD: I agree Chris Walsh was a badass.
I don’t understand the math on the games on the scroll. It’ll say “Braves (+140) vs. Phillies (-160). Do the Phillies get -120? Is that bad? I hope so, I hate the Phillies.
Thinking Braves betters get $140 per $100 bet if they win.
and Phillies betters have to bet $120 to get $100 back if they win.
Not a better so someone probably knows better than I.
Pun intended?
Always assume intent.
Or in this case auto correct.
-120 means you bet $120 to win $100
I was right?
I get to be right one more time today, I must choose wisely.
#brokenclock
LOL…
I either misread your post or some edit happened.
But yes, you post is now right.
Well I could not edit once you started your reply.
So I suspect I did not edit the post.
The math seems backwards to me on that one then.
I guess I need to remember that this system was created by the mafia
A negative means the favorite.
You have to give up something to make it a fair bet.
Of course the mafia makes it fair in the end.
Don’t bet on Purple this year, save some coin.
I don’t know, I’m pretty optimistic about this season
Hope so, so many variables going in.
At some point I’m gonna have to find this full interview.
Who is Terence?
Terence Newman I assume.
Ok. Still don’t get the tweet.
Was there some brew ha ha with Newman and Zimba?
Newman discussed ‘toxic culture’ in an interview, Zim didn’t like that.
Looks like Zim went scorched earth
Curmudgeon are going to curmudgeon.
WTH. Is Zim on some kind of loser’s misery tour trashing everyone.
He is/has been devolving for awhile now.
Well this sure as hell isn’t the way to come up in anyone’s eyes.
Not sure how much he cares anymore since his son passed.
He is still coaching in the NFL not writing memoirs from the old folks home.
I think it is more that his tolerance/patience for other peoples opinions has been reduced even further.
He cares less about what other people think of him.
Well, heretofore I thought we were really very unlucky in the 21 season – the Cincy, Cardinal, and Detroit losses were unbelievable.
But after this, screw it – it’s on Zim
Rec for the use of ‘heretofore’.
I have my moments – rare, but one in a while.
This fake news
Zimmer going to be interim head coach by week 12
https://apple.news/ABahucPtRSpaNRdhn6AHqAQ
I felt the same way as zim
“When he picked Mond, I walked out of the room. I left the building. I didn’t even talk to him on the phone.”
For anyone. I can’t read this, what does it say?
I still think the rift started prior to the 2018 season. This makes sense, though, you could certainly tell that the schism widened after that draft.
Not sure how much is the player and how much was the way Rick dismissed Zims opinion of the player.
Correct. The story was Zimba was a no on Kirko.
Probably true cause he sure as hell wasn’t spending his evenings trying to keep up with his young blonde friend.
Oh no, did she dump him? If so, no wonder he’s so salty.
In other news….Nate Sliver currently has the Bad Orange Man winning the election but losing the popular vote…libitards are losing their minds…
Well with the spot from NY and CA pretty tough for a Repub to win the popular vote.
Thank god for the electoral college.
After Bush beat Gore my feminist sister in law said that obviously the country will get rid of it now.
I tried to explain that all of those ‘little red states’ would have to sign away the very thing that gave them the win’, It wasn’t happening.
She didn’t buy it declaring that it would be gone by the next election. That was almost 25 years ago now.
Logic for the win!!
Thank God indeed!!!
Well, I think it’s only a matter of time when a dem President just uses executive orders to strike out various items.
Like, an executive order to make everybody citizens.
Declare Marshall law on November 4th.
Its going to happen at some point.
They would have to get rid of the constitution first.
That will take some doing.
If Trump somehow wins on election night, there’s going to be massive dem lawfare/shenanigans/orders/military stuff ordered.
If the ‘blue states’ have all their votes counted on election night I’ll buy you – name your drink of favor.
Pennsylvania has already announced that theirs won’t be counted election night.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/why-wont-pennsylvania-voters-have-results-election-night
I shot an 87 Yesterday…thats good for me. Had one chip in but had a few putts do the horseshoe….
Better the Horseshoe than the Cow Patty I suspect.
#grin
I shot about 10 last night. 9 bulls and one leopard
That’s a good round.
Nice round. Obviously didn’t kill or maim anyone on the course.
“NFCNorthNewss“
Fake site strikes again.
According to the “article” (story) Zim said “After the Cousins signing I knew I couldn’t trust his judgment, I lost a lot of respect for him in that moment. Right after the press conference introducing Cousins I went straight to the bathroom, threw up, and washed my hands. I stared into the mirror for about 10 minutes, knowing in that moment we had just signed a guy who was going to lose me my job.”
LOL
My Gosh, Zim sure is a class act.
I think these are troll accounts…
Some are, some stories are based on speculation to support someones narrative.
Not that anyone around here would do that.
Ok, that is all I will say on the topic as it is no where near Tuesday.
Somebody might be bored waiting for jars of pickles to boil too and just looking to cause chaos.
Do pickles have to be boiled before they can be ‘jarred’?
I have only done apples and peaches, and while you have to add hot water you don’t boil the fruit.
They’re in the jars so I’m boiling them to can em.
I’m new to canning but getting the hang of it with tips from mom and lots of research. The boys want to play pickle ball this afternoon and tomorrow we’re gonna try to can some homemade spaghetti sauce.
So you buy them in Jars and take them home to boil them so you can put them into cans?
Seems like a lot of work to just change containers.
Something like that. Or I might have walked into my back yard and picked a bunch of cucumbers, sterilized some jars, washed and sliced the cucumbers, boiled salt, vinegar and water, put all that in the jars with a little dill, garlic and jalapeño, capped em and now we’re at the boiling point.
That makes a lot of sense.
Can, or jar, them so they don’t spoil.
Yes you do need boiling water to seal the jars, I got all of the stuff for that.
Have not done any the last two years as we would have had to haul all of them with us to Idaho, glass jars don’t travel very well. Especially in 100-110 degree heat.
Last step, set on towel and let cool.
Yep and make sure all of the lids have popped down.
I was going to start one about ‘brittle’ QB’s’ but thought na it’s Saturday.
Bolling pickles – you need to be going door to door telling people to get rid of that over weight senator out there.
I looked into this account, its run by KFEY
Justin Thomas just can’t make putts anymore. He misses more short putts than Phil Mickelson.
The Teacher shared a Meme from that FacePlace that said
‘Silly Putty infers the existence of Serious Putty.’
The greatest reply to that was ‘Serious Putty would be C-4’.
Read White Sox had a attendance of 17. Funny as hell if true.
Even 170 would have been pretty stark.
17 if true is historic, even little league practice games have more than that.
Have to feel for vendors. Players are paid (overpaid).
That comes from this post. Apparently it was a weekday make-up of a postponed game. Not sure how accurate the statement is about the announced attendance.
Yeah, post i saw. If a makeup could explain. Sox having a dreadful season so i can see it.
I can count 25 alone from this angle.
I’m a bit late today.
Played a par 3.
Shot a 59!!
I can’t play a big course for awhile. Rotator Cuff is killing me.
MRI in a couple weeks.
Im going with Matt Blair as favorite special teams player.
Dude blocked so many kicks.
Wow… 5 over. Great round!
That’s solid golf. I actually think par 3’s are harder since you don’t have a catch up stroke like you can on par 4’s and 5’s.
Rotor cuff’s are hell – good luck with that.
Tim Walz’s brother is warning Americans that voting for a Harris-Walz ticket could mean for the future of the United States.
The governor’s brother, Jeff Walz, has a Facebook account, which Laura Loomer, a Republican political activist, discovered after finding shocking revelations about Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate.
“The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” Jeff Walz reportedly wrote in a comment.
Family Feud?
After my brother retired from Apple he considered getting into local politics. I have wondered what I would say if asked about him by the media. I came up with ‘a good man, smart, fiscally responsible but not one I agree with on most social issues.’
He never went into politics and his liberals views would have worked well with the local area (Bay Area). I think his wife forbid it, he is a little hen-pecked.
From what I read, Walz’s brother warned people on his social media account about the governor’s radical ideologies, saying he hasn’t spoken to his brother in eight years because of his progressive policies.
“I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology,” he wrote in a March 30, 2023 post.
My brother and I have not talked in months due to disagreement over Oakland (crime) as a major league city. He, as a long time A’s fan cannot stand them, and Raiders, moving to Vegas and he got upset about me trying to point out the reasons.
Still think he is a good man but I wouldn’t vote for him, but we still coordinate about our mom etc.
Yeah this is clearly an ideological gap here. His brother doesn’t like his progressive policies. Funny how folks from the same family can see things so differently. We had a Civil War where brothers fought brothers though.
Big Brother and I have seldom seen eye to eye. I remember in High School he would drive right past me on the way home, I would walk almost 5m and once I got home he would claim ‘I never saw you’.
I went into the Army and he went into the Apple, DEI, Bay Area Culture and married a Feminist.
Once our brother died we worked hard at doing ‘family things’ but it was exactly that ‘work’.
I expect me moving out of Calif for political reasons didn’t help the situation in his eyes.
Yeah, my older brother once said to me at a family Thanksgiving “so how’s the baby killing going?” I poured gravy in his lap.
“so how’s the baby killing going?”
Great response. Pouring hot gravy into his lap could potentially kill any further babies he might have.
My wife said, “you need to shut your mouth, or I’ll send you to the dentist”. The whole family (minus my brother) laughed at that.
Another good feisty response.
Texas girl. Shot her first deer when she was ten years old.
Relations with brothers can be tough.
My brother and I fought our entire life. We fought and argued about everything. Even as adults, going home we. continued to fight. One wouldn’t believe we came from same parents we were so different.
Then one day about 10 years ago I get a call that he was dead. He went to the doctor, found out he had stage four cancer, drove home and shot himself.
Can’t say I miss him but wish maybe we would have one last time and we wouldn’t have fought.
Tough way to go.
My youngest brother died of a brain aneurysm, but autopsy showed he had significant heart issues.
Since we didn’t have a choice I have wondered if it was a blessing him going quickly like that.
No good answers but when you are grieving the brain looks for anything to hold onto.
The brain does indeed.
Life has many twists and turns.
Did something interesting yesterday. Was listening to some music and this very moving piece came on. Little research, it was the theme song from Schindlers List movie.
Prompted me to watch the movie last night (been several years).
If your support for Israel in its existing battle is starting to wane, suggest watching this movie. And even if it isn’t, it’s a great watch when you have some free time.
Great movie…emotional to watch.
Never watched it.
Got enough exposure to that stuff seeing the detention (aka torture) rooms in Berlin. Along with lots of tours and classes on the topic while I was there.
Got emotional enough with all that and The Wall being up with hundreds of crosses signifying people killed by E. German guards trying to cross to freedom that I don’t need to watch movies about ‘mans inhumanity to man’.
Glad you found it moving.
Think we have a generation of young people because of out woke education system have never heard of the Holocaust.
Yeah I see YouTube Videos with yutes reacting to that stuff.
I don’t understand it but then I always had an interest in history.
Hmmmm…. Vikings looking to replace someone next year?
Umm, not sure whom you are refereeing to specifically.
Teams are always looking to add talent and two top SEC teams are going to have a bunch of talent to look at.
Not referring to anyone. Just wondering who we would be looking at.
I figure talented players.
We have gotten several good players either late in the draft or as UDFAs the last few years.
KAM and his staff seem to be looking for smart, high motor, character types. He details the process in this video, helps understand how the Vikings manage to get ‘sleepers’.
Hope we are considering Defensive players from that game as the half time score is 6-0.
We had a GF/Brad sighting last night. He stopped bye for about an hour.
You can go to yesterdays thread and see the comments.
He even signed up for The Pick Em and Survivor League.
Here is his update.

Sorry about the hiatus, I’ve kind of taken a break from every type of social media for the last year or two.
that said, kiddo, and I are talking about starting a podcast, and this is a good time to jump back into the blog.
did we win a Super Bowl yet?
Happy Saturday Skolos!
First week of school in the books.
Oofda.
Long lines, dumb students, dumber parents, stolen permits, tows, boots, pompous chancellors, Athletic Department jock sniffers and tenured professors who can’t be fired for anything (unless they’re convicted of a crime or violate university code of ethics policy)
Had a tenured engineering professor call me a f****t yesterday on the phone. On a recorded line. He called and demanded we renew his permit – something we don’t do over the phone, customers either purchase in person or online – he berated my student worker and demanded to speak to a ‘decider’ so the call got routed to me. I explained policy and options for 10 minutes (while he talked over me the entire time) and I ended my spiel by saying ‘you have two options, purchase in person or online’ and he responded ‘have a nice day f****t’ and hung up the phone. I saved the recording and sent it to my boss – she can decide whether to send it off to administration. Unlikely that anything comes of it. Will never understand what drives people to treat others like trash.
Chris Walsh is also my favorite Viking special teamer as well. Great as a gunner, timely tackles on KO returns as well as recovering a few onside kicks – but I’ll remember him most as ‘3rd & Walsh’ as we called him. He didn’t see the field much with CC, Moss and Reed but I remember several big catches to convert on 3rd and 4th down.
Was also a fan of David Palmer – dating back to his days as one of the original ‘Wildcat’ QB’s/Athletes at Alabama.
A new era of Husker Football starts today. True Freshman Dylan Raiola gets the start against UTEP. Look out for this kid – he’s the real deal.
Hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend. Relax, y’all deserve it. I know I do.

Always hate that kind of situation. People abusing other people who are just doing their job. Couple days ago I was at the grocery store and this lady was yelling at this poor girl behind the customer service counter, because they were out of her brand of cigarettes. I couldn’t help but to interject. I told the lady that the whole store didn’t need to suffer, because of a pack of cigarettes, least of all me. Told her to go on her way, and leave the girl alone. She yelled FU at me and stormed out.
Got some nods of approval from other customers, and a quiet “thank you” from the girl.
The older I get, the less tolerant I am of bad behavior.
I’m sure the 20 something girl behind the counter was responsible for not buying and not stocking those cigarettes. She obviously is a major decision maker at this store and deserved to be yelled at.
Some people are inconsiderate barbarians.
Yeah, the girl was trying to be nice, and considerate. This lady was yelling at her, and it was just ridiculous. Not sure what motivates someone to be that disagreeable. Had to know the whole store was being affected.
I’m the same way. In this case it happened so quickly and I’m working (and also recorded) so I likely wouldn’t have said anything back had he stayed on the line. I just chuckled and immediately clipped the call and sent it in an email to my boss. I wasn’t offended – my favorite football coaches would call me worse – but in this era it was uncalled for. It’s also likely that face to face this man doesn’t call me anything other than sir.
Good on you for defending that clerk. Front line workers as I call them and they’re the salt of the earth. Most are underpaid as is and tolerating that bullshit is sadly a daily occurrence. I’ve worked those jobs in my youth. Not easy work.
Always fun dealing with that type.
Glad you didn’t let it bother you and didn’t cave in to his demands. Don’t want to reinforcing that behavior by giving him what he wants/demands.
Goodonya.
Never a bad thing to stand up for the underdog when it is clear that they can’t/are not allowed to stand up for themselves.
Had a few chances to do that in the Army and when working for the Prison, never regretted it even though I pissed off some ‘bosses’.
As a ‘civilized’ society we need more good people to stand up to those who abuse others needlessly.
Take it easy on the cocaine
Walsh did have some really timely catches
it’s weird to me that Raiola committed to Nebraska considering his other options, also weird that his fat dad Dominic fathered such an athletic child
Lol…. Dom was a menace on campus. He and his O-Line buddies would bounce around Greek row on the weekends just looking to brawl.
Despite video evidence, police reports, and the city’s mayor verifying the situation, Democrat Colorado Gov. Jared Polis dismissed outrage over the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua occupying apartment buildings in the Aurora suburb of Denver, calling it “imagination.”
In reaction to Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky, who told reporters that the gang takeovers are connected to Polis’s policies, Polis’s press office sent this caustic comment on Wednesday night.
Sad that there is video of these people carrying guns and walking around, being shown on TV, and people are trying to leave, but have no money to actually move. Yet the Gov says this is a figment of our imagination.
We talked some about this yesterday. Forgetting the Governor, The Mayor, what are the local police doing? Where I live, if a bunch of gangsters, armed, came around banging on doors trying to break in, the Police would come and arrest them. WTF is going on here.
This is not a left/right issue.
It sort of is a left/right issue. The Democrat Governor made Denver a sanctuary City, and Aurora is a suburb East of Denver. He just enacted legislation to give illegal aliens driver’s licenses, and access to Government funded (i.e. taxpayer) services. This is what you get with uncontrolled borders, and Governors who welcome and facilitate unvetted people to their cities. Law abiding citizens are at risk now, because a politician wants to build his voting base.
Still don’t understand. If you live in Denver area, and somebody tries to break into your house, the Police won’t come and arrest them?
And even if one lives in DC, one of the most liberal cities in the country, if someone is breaking into your home, the police will come and arrest them.
D.C. is not a sanctuary city. They have the seat of Government there, and can’t have any pesky illegal aliens messing things up.
Aurora has about 750 police officers, so I’d say they have the resources to answer the calls. However, if they are directed not to stoke more violence by responding, and actually “care” more about the illegal aliens “rights” than true citizens as part of their policy and training, this is what you’ll get. Liberal agenda, coming to your doorstep soon.
Why even have a Police Department?
Update.
Due to all the publicity the Mayor and Gov have started to act like they care and did all along.

Did you read the statement from the Governor’s office?
“The Governor hopes that the city of Aurora shares this basic value and will enforce the law. Over the last month, Governor Polis has been in regular contact with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Police Department and has offered all state assistance to support their efforts if requested,” said spokeswoman Shelby Wieman.
“If Danielle Jurinsky has evidence of illegal activity in Aurora that can assist the investigation, it might even be illegal for her to withhold it from the Aurora Police Department and she should file a report immediately. The state has been ready for weeks to back up any operation by the Aurora Police Department needed to make Aurora safer,” the statement concluded.
Note the galling comment about Danielle Jurinsky… “it might even be illegal for her to withhold it from the Aurora Police Department and she should file a report immediately.”
How effed up is that?
Yeah they tried to ‘follow up’ on the ‘threat to Jurinsky’ but have not received a comment back.
Typical bureaucrat ‘bluster and threatening’ when their mistakes are pointed out for all to see.
” How effed up ” How effed up are we for electing POS like this guy.
They already went after street artist who put up harris likes illegal aliens signs, can’t have that free speech if it might hurt feelings
More like if it hurts Democrats…
Reminds me of when LA made a resident take down a Trump sign that was visible from the freeway stating that it was a ‘traffic hazard’.
Doubt seriously they would have considered a similar FJB sign a ‘traffic hazard’ as well.

Waiting for the wife to stir, and then we’ll do some Saturday morning chores. Drop dry cleaning off, wash the cars, do grocery shopping, change the A/C filters in the house, and take some stuff to the Good Will.
Notre Dame and Texas A&M is on at 7:30 p.m. Guess we’ll watch some other games, and the Tour Championship, although it looks like Scheffler is running away with it.

Favorite Special Teams player, Donald Igwebuike. Only because Jerry Burns could not pronounce his name, and called him “Iggy Biggy” and I found that funny.
I remember him, partly because he was a terrible kicker but mostly because he was falsely accused of trafficking heroin

Morning! Here we go! Holiday weekend, and last one before we start real football! 5 days till Thursday Night Football, and the start of the season!
Can’t wait for the season to start, even if I don’t expect the Vikings to win much this year.
I think this season is more about getting solid development from the roster especially the younger players.
Winning would be more like ‘icing on the cake’, hope it is butter frosting rather than sugar based. Maybe more like whipped cream like on Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, my personal favorite.
Think it’s mostly on IOL, running game and of course Sam.
