I just learned all about taking ‘hard drives’ out of old computers.

The Teacher spend 3hrs trying to boot up the first of her two old computers and wipe as much off the drives as possible. She couldn’t get that 1st computer to work long enough to ‘geterdone’.

Last night I watch Youtube videos and learned how to remove hard drives, then removed the 1st one, although I dented the computer a bit in the process. This morning I removed the 2nd one before The Teacher even woke up, no denting occurred.

Now she will send the two to recycling and give the hard drives to her son (IT type) to wipe/dispose of. Easier to transport just the hard drive then the whole computer ‘tower’.

We were ready, willing and equipped to going that route.
But the first video showing us how to take them out was just 1m 14s long and a lot of that was the introduction.

Hers was configured a bit differently inside, hence the denting, but took less than 5 min. This mornings removal was even quicker.

I have to watch 10 hours of “Health Equity” Training over the next few weeks.

I just started. It is obvious to me it is socialist/Marxist crap.

Its going to take be 20 hours since I am taking the time to write up my objections with every Marxist or Socialist idea that comes up.

I may well get fired at the end of all this since I will share my objections openly in my company.

I went out and bought some Voda and Bloody Mary Mix to try to get through this process, no one else is in the office on Fridays…..

The Teacher when she was required to log in and watch training videos for the 20th+ time would just start them and then do something else.

She knew the answers that they wanted so the tests were no problem. She hated ‘cheating’ but not as much as sitting thru the BS training once again.

What is “health equity?”

NoDakRube
Reply to  JRobert
21 June 2024 11:02 am

Health Equity is the concept that health care should be structured in such a way that every individual achieves their highest level of health that they can.

Contained in the DNA of Health Equity is the belief that the actual Health Care system itself is racist and discriminatory and that society is also racist and discriminatory and these factors lead to lower levels of “Health” for “oppressed” minorities…therefore resources need to be expended (given to) in support of the oppressed populations to enable their Health status to be the same as the evangelical, nuclear family, white individual.

For example, in North Dakota the LGBTQ+ population has lower health insurance rates than the evil, straight, white people – this causes poorer access to health care and worse health outcomes.

Now, of course it is likely because trany people are nuts and can’t hold a job, but that is beside the point.

Anyone got any electrical knowledge?

I have a strange situation – there is a 20A GFCI outlet on my front porch. I can plug string lights into it with no problem, and the first couple years we lived there we could plug our 19′ camper in to cool the fridge and get it ready for a weekend.

Lately, when we plug the camper in the outlet trips immediately – I can still use it for the string lights though.

I was thinking it was the camper, but the camper never trips any other outlets, just that one.

Anyone have any thoughts on it? I’m planning on replacing the outlet after work.

I know enough about electricity to know that I don’t know enough about electricity to do more than plug something in and reset a breaker every decade or so.

Doubt that helps very much but I felt you deserved a response, even if a not very good one. Hope someone smart comes along soon with a more better answer for you.

It sounds like you are trying the right solution.
The wiring could also be bad.

Fixing a GFCI Outlet that Keeps Tripping

Worn or Missing Insulation: Gaps or missing insulation in the wall allows moisture, dust, and debris to leak in and trip the outlet. Make sure housing is sealed tightly against the wall.

Power Overload: If there are too many appliances plugged in, you may be overloading the outlet and causing it to trip. Disconnect some and see if this helps. If so, look at having a professional install additional GFCI outlets nearby. A leakage current clamp meter is a handy tool to measure leakage.

Faulty Receptacle or Deteriorated Wiring: GFCIs won’t last forever. The average lifespan is 15-20 years, so if it is an older receptacle, simply replacing it may fix the problem. However, if the issue stems from bad electrical wiring, the solution is a bit more complex and a professional electrician is required.

My dad had a similar issue – basically just wind and rain had eroded the outlet and it would trip every time. Replacing it outright should do it.

Nope. Uh….well we now plug it into a garage outlet to prep it, no GFCIs there so you may be on to something…….

But, when we camp somewhere it never trips.

Ah. I’d just change out the GFCI. Wires corrode over time, can cause a minor imbalance in resistance.

I see that the Levi Rodriguez dude is listed as #2 nose tackle. I really do hope he pans out and is something special…I am not a 3 – 4 defensive genius, but I thought in the 3 – 4 defense you needed really big dudes to play NT, Levi is a bulked up 300, played college at 280. My fear is he could be a little light.

I have spent time and effort trying to explain to a business person who should know better that if you loan money to another business it does not hit your books as an expense.

Unfortunately too many small business owners are just “salesmen” and don’t understand how a business runs. If you don’t know how a business runs, you either need to get more education or surround yourself with people that have the necessary skill sets. Loans are a balance sheet item.

MLK Jr day comes to mind, I love the inspirational messages the hospital sends out on that day, which is not a holiday. Good Friday not to be left out either.

Not sure how many of you use Google Calendars as your default Calendar on your phones, but you may have noticed that if you have default settings set, that Google thought they would think for us and added non primary Holidays to your calendar by default so, “Start of Asian Awareness Month, Juneteenth, Start of Pride month” etc. basically all the bs that’s being forced down our gullets. If you only want to see normal Holidays, you can sign into your google account on a web browser, go to calendar, click on the 3 dots next to Holidays in the US, click on settings, click the drop down on Holiday Calendar content and set it to Public Holidays only. Go back to your phone and refresh your calendar and all the dumb Woke things will now be gone. This is the only way to get rid of it, thanks google. You’re welcome.

Just so you’re aware Juneteenth is more of an accurate holiday than Christmas on December 25th. All those Christmas traditions of a tree, yule log, Jesus born on the 25th… All borrowed (stolen) from pagan traditions. At least Juneteenth is a historically accurate date! I can absolutely get behind not wanting shit forced down your gullet, 100% behind that notion… But I have a feeling you don’t actually care otherwise you’d also be irritated with Christmas and other holidays you celebrate being on there as well. I understand Christmas is a federal holiday, but I am sure you are irritated that that day being forced down people’s gullets as 1 specific religious holiday bothers you right? I’m betting you don’t care about stuff being forced down gullets. You don’t like it if it’s not your agenda being the only agenda forced down gullets…

It just gets old. I wish people believed what they said. I too hate stuff I don’t believe in stuffed down my throat but that means even if it’s stuff I believe in or celebrate I wouldn’t want it stuffed down everyone else’s throat. I’m cool with Juneteenth, I don’t like celebrating pride of any circumstance of birth like race, color, sexual orientation but I can’t say that as a straight white guy lol. If it’s OK to raise and lift something up that’s a circumstance of birth then it should also be OK to put down and ridicule a circumstance of birth. We all know it’s wrong to shit on someone for a circumstance of birth because it’s not something someone had any control over… Exactly why it’s silly to have pride in something you have no control over. I’m not proud to be an American… I feel lucky to be an American. I am proud of our men and women in uniform… They actually did shit, something to actually be proud of lol.

Well you’ve said a lot here and it’s late – for me. We probably see “pride” differently. For example, I no longer have control over my grown children, but when they do something ‘special’, I’m proud of them. and I’m proud to be an American and like to think in some small way I helped a little. Nothing great, but did my part.
I appreciate small things – like being a good father and husband, and neighbor, are huge with me.
Oh well, we can talk more later.

Clearly you don’t even know what you are talking about.
There is no exact date even known of Jesus’ birth.
It’s been debated by scholars.

Just because the date isn’t proven, doesn’t mean it didn’t occur.
Doesn’t even matter what day it officially happened.
Jesus’ life is historically proven to have occurred and celebrating his birth is historically accurate, regardless of the official day.

Here is one theory for you:

One theory proposes that December 25 was officially designated as Christmas Day by Sextus Julius Africanus in AD 221. This assertion is rooted in meticulous calculations that Africanus undertook, embarking on a historical journey that began with his estimation of the world’s creation in 5499 BC. With an unwavering dedication to precision, Africanus meticulously traced the lineage of biblical figures and significant events, meticulously aligning them with historical and astronomical data. His goal was to pinpoint the most appropriate date for commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, a task that required an intricate web of chronology and celestial observations. Africanus’s determination to find this date led him to December 25, marking it as the momentous day when Christians should celebrate the birth of their savior. His extensive calculations and scholarly dedication have left an enduring legacy, contributing to the rich tapestry of theories surrounding the birth date of Jesus Christ.

The only reason I would not want every immigrant serving, is if they are just there to get citizenship they are putting their fellow combatants in danger, in the case of war.

But, if they are willing to put their lives on the line, they could be moved up in the citizenship rankings.

According to an incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol, Addison was pulled over for speeding and reckless driving at around 3 a.m. He was not arrested.

It includes Addison and Wes Phillips.

The most arrested team? The Minnesota Vikings, which saw 60 arrests over that period compared to the Jaguars’ 45. That would include Vikings’ rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison getting picked up for driving 140 mph on a freeway last July and offensive coordinator Wes Phillips who was arrested for driving under the influence in December.

Edge:

I had my birthday the other day and went to a running coach class. That was a bit…sobering. But in the long run, it is really not that complicated. I think I will just focus on upping my cadence, which will probably cure a lot.

My cadence is very low, like 144 average.

As a bigger man yourself, do you know your average cadence?

Is a ‘running coach class’ a class for running coaches?

When prepping for and then running my marathon the best thing I learned was to run ‘heel to toe’ when running distance (not sprints). Thinking of your foot like a wheel and making your stride smooth and easy and not jarring.

Given the miles involved it helped with the amount of energy I put out and helped to reduce injuries caused by ‘pounding the pavement’.

Wrenage
Reply to  SoCalMinnFan
20 June 2024 11:21 am

No, it was a class put on by a running coach. He is a sports trainer. He just ran a 100-mile ultra in Wisconsin, so he is a pretty serious runner.

My main issue is that I have a slight overstride that is putting on the brakes a bit with each step. It is not an extreme overstride, but it would be useful to correct, I think. That would also push my cadence up by bringing my front step back a little bit.

I was going to practice last night, but my wife decided she wanted to fight, so…

I found I ‘over pronate’ aka run on the outsides of my feet.
Trying to center my stride helped make my stride easy and was better for my knees.
I have to concentrate to do it, it dd not come naturally to me.

I can see that ‘overstrides’ could interrupt the smooth gait and ‘put a hitch in your giddy up’.

They were kind of fun, but that fun aspect also made them kind of annoying. You know, the, hey, look at us, we are quirky schlubs! thing…

Funny story. I once wrote a girl on the Internet Personal Ads who said she partied in a van with them. She also said she worked for the Vikings organization. Could she have been making all of that up?

It’s a nothing word used to either hide actual prejudiced views or people too dumb to come up with the words of what they actually mean. It really is an issue because the right’s use of the word “woke” and left’s are two completely different things and it’s been hijacked to use against one another. Just another example of the divisive nature of pitting us against one another and how happy you are all to keep us so divided so we’re easily conquered.
