They could have just sat a #11 and gotten either Nix or JJ (QB) and not have wasted picks going up to #10.

So Jacobs is on the “commisioners exempt” list. If he is suspended (likely to happen), any games missed while on the “exempt list” count toward the suspension. So rather than have him play one or two games, then get suspended, they are biting the bullet now

My friends, let me tell you about something I noticed just today—September 11th, a day that still stirs every patriotic heart in this great land of ours. There’s an official government office right there in Bottineau, North Dakota,(USDA) and as I walked by, I saw they had lowered the flagpole itself instead of simply lowering the flag to half-staff. Now, that’s not how we honor the fallen. The flag comes down; the pole stays put. This isn’t the first time, either. Last year, after Charlie Kirk was murdered, they did the very same thing. I called them up, and they told me their pole “only worked like that.” Well, I went over and took a look myself—those other latches for half-staff were right there in plain sight. Then they pulled the same stunt for Dolly. So I emailed the fellow in charge at the state level, and he made them fix it. I thought they’d finally gotten their act together.But today—on this solemn anniversary—there it was again. I emailed the boss once more (and I want to thank him; he seems like a good man and said he’d take care of it). Still, it makes a fellow wonder. If a local office can’t manage something as straightforward as the proper way to fly our flag, how are they handling the taxpayers’ money and the rest of their procedures? I’m not naming names—no need for a lynch mob—but this is pure complacency, plain incompetence, and some real dumb-assed thinking.It’s a perfect little example of why we need something like DOGE to cut through the fog of bureaucracy and get government working the way it ought to for the people.

To be fair, as I was leaving my place to come in to work this morning I noticed the big flag at the truck wash on the highway (it must be about 30 x 40 feet) was at half mast, and knew that I had put my flag at full mast. Oops. Forgot about today.
I’ll never forget that day. I worked full time in the army national guard at the time. Had a breakfast buffet at the strip club that morning, then went to work ripping out and pouring a new driveway at a battered women’s shelter. I remember a dude showed up demanding to see some woman, we confronted him and he left. As we were working we had a radio playing and mid song breaking news came in that there was a plane crash into one of the twin towers, shortly after we were called back to base, where we heard of the second plane. We were on lockdown for like the next two days. Never did finish the project.
I had gotten my official discharge papers about two months before 9-11. I was working over night, so I was sleeping when it happened. My wife woke me and told me what happened. I spent the rest of the day waiting to get a call saying they were re-activating me.
I had gotten out about a year prior. I called to see if they needed people with my specialty/training, and to let them know I was available and willing.
They said that currently there was not a need but if that changed that they would let us know.
I guess even North Dakota has it’s Woke/Libs/TDS types.
Surprised that they work for state government although I probably shouldn’t be.
I would guess the person that raises and lowers the flag probably didn’t realize he could be set at half staff.

It’s interesting to see how other teams strategize the QB position when their savior flounders during the rookie season.
Bears – Caleb Williams – 5-12 turned into 11-6 and division champs
Colts – Payton Manning – 3-13 turned into HOF
Cowboys – Troy Aikman – 0-11 turned into HOF
Bills – Josh Allen – 5-6 turned into 10-6
Many other examples where the team DIDN’T bench a struggling rookie, and he went on to improve with time and experience.
Too bad we’ll never see that happen in MN.

My older Nephew struggled with telling me because he knew I was a church goer and conservative.
I just asked him if he was still JT’ (his family name)? He said ‘Yes’ so I told him that ‘It is his life and he got to choose how to live it, as long as he wasn’t hurting anyone it his business not mine’.
We hugged and have been fine ever since.

But Tax credits and stupid hollow promises from Biden on loan forgiveness which I called out when he said them too is a different thing. I’m guessing he probably means something like “you will save money, maybe $5000 on average, if the Republicans win this November” rather than “I will cut you a literal check for voting correctly”, but I guess we’ll see

The Teacher found an appliance sale at Costco for Labor day. The more you get the more you save type. We have been discussing upgrading our dishwasher and oven since we moved in 2+ years ago and replacing the 6+ year old microwave saved us even a little more.
So today is appliance replacement day. She figured she might as well get the gas fireplace cleaned out and serviced while she is at it.
All in all quite busy around the Idahome today but she is quite pleased with herself and since it was all paid for out of her account so I don’t really mind.
It feels nice not worrying about appliances.
I’ve done my water heater, water softener, oven, stove, dishwasher, AC, furnace, washer and dryer since buying my house 7 years ago. Microwave and fridge were replaced by previous owners when they sold.
Not sure what’s left to worry about at this point.
We had to replace several of those while we were leasing out this place. The guy who serviced our heater said to hold on to it as long as possible because the replacement will be a worse appliance.
I think the shower in the master bath is the next thing to be upgraded.
The minisplit (Mitsupieceshe) we installed in the Love Shack this summer has been a boon. That thing ran 24/7 during some incredibly hot months and the electric bill never exceeded $80. Looking forward to substantial electrical savings over baseboard heat this winter.

She had her account when we met and when we moved here she closed out her credit union account and moved it to a local bank.
I kept my Pentagon Federal Union account, we each have access to each account but her retirement payments feeds into her account and she controls it and spends from it and my 3 retirement payments feed into mine and I manage it.
I/we have transferred funds from ‘mine’ to ‘hers’ at time or two like when we paid off the mortgage for this house.
I don’t worry about what she spends/orders and she doesn’t worry about me, although she manages the bills so she knows what I spend.
To this guy that just sounds complicated, although I believe this was your second marriage? It’s kinda funny, I’m a trusting guy and I suppose my wife trusted me, as we combined our accounts shortly after getting engaged when we were buying a house together, etc… She used to pay all the bills but that responsibility fell to me once everything got moved to electronic banking, and even that is pretty easy now as most are set up to autopay.
Now that her SS cheque drops in to the joint account, she feels she is putting in her 50% (grin).
There is trust, we both have access to both accounts.
Actually less complicated than changing all of the payments and deposits linked to my account (which I have had for about 35-40 years) from the VA, Commifornia, Social Security, Medicare, etc, etc. All of which was in place before we got married.
We’ve been married since we were youngsters so our accounts have been combined for 38 years. Everything gets dumped into our main account and then I divvy it up to all the funds in the savings account.
21 years here, and we were one bank account from the start. It did get interesting in recent years, though.
I’m self-employed and my income is not consistent, so I have an account that my income goes into, and there’s a weekly transfer (always the same amount) from that account into our joint account.
Also, my wife does surrogacy pregnancies, and that money goes into a different account that we only borrow from (at 0%!) when we want to buy something that we could not afford to pay cash for otherwise.
It’s a pretty sweet setup.

I put off replacing mine due to that and then we were going to move so it became the new owners issue.
I did not, I probably should, but we ran the dish washer, washing machine and 2 people showered at the same time and it kept up.
Our shouse is on a gas fired combi-boiler, that fires the in floor radiant heat as well as DHW.
I put in an electric tankless down at the Love Shack, the old 50 gallon tank was in the poorest shape of any DHW tank I’ve ever laid eyes on. The only drawback to the electric tankless is the lights flicker if you are running say the shower and washer at the same time as you have a bunch of lights on.
Rec for not calling it a “hot water heater.”
If the water is hot, it doesn’t need to be heated.
That drives me nuts when people call it that.

I think so.
However, the NFL keeps adding games. In a shorter season I would expect players to participate more in pre season. The only fix here is to allow a 60+ man roster plus the practice squad. Injuries are going to happen with a 17 game season. Even shitty teams are playing more football than Super Bowl champs used to.
Teams use to play starters in preseason. I think its needed to get the body ready for actual NFL contact and games. Players that get hurt are going to get hurt regardless imo. I dont think sitting them out is as big an advantage as McVay and KOC think. Either they get hurt in week 2 of preseason or they get hurt week 1 or 2 of the regular season.
If They got hurt in preseason, they would have preseason weeks to heal.
But now, they miss real games.

I am not sure there is a connection between playing preseason reps and NOT getting hurt during the season.
My assumptions are:
1. Most of your conditioning and “game shape” is developed in practice
2. Game “sharpness” can be honed during preseason games, but does “sharpness” reduce injuries?
3. There are 2 reasons for injuries: you are “predisposed” or it was just “bad luck”. Darnolds hip injury looks like “bad luck” to me. A player who gets concussions easily is likely “predisposed”
So given these assumptions, i dont see how playing in 1/2 a game during the preseason will help you avoid injury early in the regular season.

The nice thing about paycheques is you don’t get them the day your ass is kicked. Back when I pulled them 16 hour weekend shifts at my shop my eyes would be figuratively bleeding by end of day and my give a poopy level was extremely low. At that moment I would say no amount of money was worth that slog. However, the reward for skinning all those cats came later, when I was rested, which is what kept me coming back for more.
decided to take the dogs for a long walk. just got back to the computer and I am much more relaxed. I found the mistake someone else made (and was blaming me for), and corrected their data.
At least when I find mistakes nobody is dead. I cannot understand how people survive the medical field. I could not even play this game without someone dying.

Well, for a little insight into MT’s mind, I’ll say that there is a somewhat generalized annoyance/jealousy/resentment of my specialty amongst other specialties…to the point that I swear at times they try to sabotage me (when I put pain on the indication, the pain was centered in the vulva, you didn’t mention the vulva on this CT of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis dumbass).
Sometimes a case will get brought up (M&M, teaching conference, etc) where a subtle finding was either missed or equivocated on, people will say it is SO obvious…well, that’s easy when there is an arrow pointing to the finding (FYI images don’t come labeled with arrows pointing to the finding).
I tell clinicians when they whine, if you’d like I could have you look the images over first and tell me what you see. They don’t like that. Having to put down your impression in black and white forever and ever is a daunting task. The very first x-ray I ever read independently (and even then it would be overread by staff in the morning) I stared at for 25 minutes before I finalized the report.

So far we have 9 players. I think we had 12 last year because GF, his son and Freezy were playing then. It doesn’t take much time. Just pick the games and assign confidence points every week. It can take as little as 1 minute…or an hour if you’re a nerd.

Truthfully, I would love to, but we are pushing through to my old stomping grounds on a quick road trip after dropping our choco at the doggy hotel in Bismarck, so I wouldn’t be very sociable. I get to have a few things done there, including getting some needles thrust into my nether regions via my taint (I’m actually a little excited for that part because it is something that is not offered in MT and I sometimes fantasize of pushing away some of the never ending diagnostic work and doing some cool biopsies like that), and upon our return to the Treasure State I am again pushing through to pick up the choco before closing time.

I watched the highlights of the last drive. Field goal already in their back pocket and Maye tossed up a jump ball. It’s interesting how QBs continue to do that stuff when it seems like every week there is a good example of why it is a bad idea to do that stuff.
It was interesting cuz I was just watching the gamecast feed on BSPN (not actually watching the game I was reading a book in bed)…NE was down on the 15 and the win predictor still had SEA at 64-65% chance of victory. I was assuming that was due to the small potential (blair walsh cough cough) of missing the snap or kick at that range, and the home team advantage in OT. Nope.

100% agree…and this is why I am rooting for many losses this season. If we don’t get the necessary draft pick by record, we aren’t likely to buy one…so we are either in another five year cycle without our QBOTF currently on the roster and counting on our tepid scouts to find the next Purdy, or we can knock it down to the studs and control the team’s destiny.
Ideally, we have a terrible season this year, draft a QB and have another bad year next year. Get the easiest schedule in 2028 and make a superb owl run with our sophomore QB.
This will never happen because if the rookie QB has a bad year his first year, everyone will be calling for his head and the FO will go out and get a washed up mediocre QB.
