I’ll put this in the mythical words up top on tomorrow’s thread as well. If anyone is interested in joining the fantasy league this year, shoot me an email at [email protected]. We can still get it done, we’d have to do the draft on Tuesday or something like that. It took very little time to do the draft last year, so it shouldn’t disrupt your evenings very much.
In Fantasy BB you could set up to ‘auto-draft’ your team don’t know if FF allows that.
If scheduling is a problem that might at least let you get to the start of the league and then trades and picking up waiver wires until you are content with your team.
True. Hopefully we can draft, then one has nobody to blame but theirself if their team sucks.
Limited time, scheduling an issue, at least it gives people another option.
I would do it if I couldn’t make the draft due to ‘stuff’.

The nexus of inferior IOL play, scheme of long developing routes/plays, and a QB that handles pressure poorly may well be our what does in our season.
But we can have hope despite all of that since I/we have been wrong in the past.
Maybe the Flo D can keep us in more games. You know, that TOP crap. I’ll try and watch again. Thinking .500 is best we can hope for. Then add injuries, which we seem to be good at in a bad way.

How many years have we had a weak IOL and nobody in the Vikings organization seems to care very much – year after year.

The Seahawks added a third quarterback ahead of their regular-season opener, signing Jaren Hall to their practice squad.
Good for Jaren. Seems like a hard worker.
We’ve all heard that the first four games of the season are a bit of a crap shoot, because there’s no tape or trending done yet. Thus teams with the best overall talent tend to win the early games.
Unless they constantly turn the ball over.
Which I have heard has been known to happen.

It’s hard to predict which teams will be good. With all the parity written in to the rules, there is less consistency.

I met Bryant McKinnie last year, that is one big man. He only played in the NFL a couple seasons, but he is BIG. Went to college at Minnesota, his nickname in college was “Swol”.

Sounds like a ‘silver lining’ type situation.
Unless you strike gold like the Bares did last year and trade for a teams #1 pick and they manage to snag you the #1 overall.

I think it basically melted down to “Darnold has been unable to put weak-a$$ teams on his shoulders to win Superb Owls, so he’s gonna stink it up with the Vikings too, even though most people would expect a #3 drafted QB to be able to do something good with real talent.”
Darnold has issues when pressured. He makes bad decisions and bad throws, which is why he only has 63 TD’s and 56 interceptions in his whole career.
So you would think a scheme that would allow the ball to get out quickly would be the best use of his skills. Especially given the state of our IOL.
Yes, but KOC’s scheme isn’t built that way. It’s an adaptive passing game where receivers adjust the depth and direction of their routes based on what they see the defenses doing. It’s a scheme that requires immensely quick processing by the QB, and a very accurate arm.
I’m thinking we’re gonna stop doing that this year.
I am hoping that they do that if it helps Sam be successful. I believe JJ can handle that offense but he might struggle with it initially.
All QB’s will struggle with it. The QB has to process both the defense and the receiver adjustments. Some can be extremely simple, like if they’re sitting on the stick route, run the out. But the more receivers involved in the progression, the more complicated it gets. It also slows the QB down, and if you have a porous line, he’s going to get hit a lot.
There’s no free lunch (unless you’re a democrat of course).
If you’re going to run a complicated offense that allows receivers to vary routes and run to open areas, it’s going to require more mental stuff on the QB. If you’re running a simplier offense making it easier on the QB, then you don’t attack the defense as fully.
Coach’s choice.
KOC’s scheme is what it is. And, I believe KOC fully understands it- well if he doesn’t that IS a major problem.
As such, would hope to hell KOC would bring in a QB that he felt was fully capable of running his offense.
They did but he tore his meniscus.
Hopefully he will use this year off to study it and learn it well enough next hear to thrive in it.
And I hope that one can too!

I’m going to spend some time today creating the fantasy league, unless you’ve already started.
What platform are you going to use?
We’ve used Sleeper in years past. I know absolutely nothing about fantasy football, so if you know of a better platform, I’m all ears.
I’ve only ever used NFL and Yahoo, but I’m still a noob at FF.
NFL has been easier for me to navigate of those 2. Never been on Sleeper.

Isn’t Pick ‘Em where you pick winners for a full slate of NFL games each week to see who can get the most right?
Surviver is picking the team that you think will win and if you lose you are eliminated? The goal is to see who can ‘survive’ the longest before picking a loser?
And Fantasy League where you draft a roster and trade, bench, pick up/cut players thru the season and teams compete head to head each week?
Did Baseball fantasy league for a few years with my brother. Tried Surviver one year, didn’t last long. Have done a Pick ’em before but just a weekly thing with each week being a $5 bet, winner take all.
Not sure I am correct but if so there seems to be some cross talk going on. Please clue me in if I am wrong as usual.

Waiting to hear back on a couple things. I’m completely stupid when it comes to fantasy football, the past two years on the Skoloholics league is the only time I’ve ever played it.
I have never done NFL fantasy just MLB.
Doubt I would be any good at it.
I hadn’t either until two years ago, I joined the skoloholics league, first time I’d ever played. I had fun, I don’t take it too seriously. It does make non-Viking games more interesting.

Second son and DIL purchased their first house. This weekend we moved most of their stuff and started cleaning their old place. They have some younger, stronger friends lined up to help them move the big stuff later. We are doing more cleaning this morning before we head home. It’s been a busy weekend. We did take a break Saturday evening when we had all the kids, DILs and grandkids get together for my early birthday dinner. That was nice especially since it will be the last time all of us will be able to get together for a while since our oldest is heading back to base to report back to duty. Happy Labor Day everyone.
