The only reason the Bears lost was because of the rain and that they had to play a few minutes with a backup QB. Crazy how it doesn’t matter that the Vikings played the entire game with a backup and apparently the rain in Chicago only affects the Bears.
Many here said it: The Bears turnover differential from last year was unsustainable. They are very overrated and middle of the pack as far as being good.

He has been sent to ‘Football Factories’ in High School and pampered at Michigan so he has a pretty high opinion of his football prowess.
There is a lot to like about his game but he has to learn to take some off the ball when required. He seems to have ‘set his heels’ in regards to making small changes that could make a big difference.
I’m sure his ego is huge, like everyone I’ve ever met that went to the University of Michigan. That was one of the things I didn’t like about him before the draft, and I stated I hoped he’d do well, but he’d likely be a bust (and a tool).
I am curious – does anyone here know anyone who went there for school? Are they all pompous and have that “I’m better than you” attitude?
I know one and he is one of the best people I’ve ever met.

The biggest excuse, injured QBs, is more his fault than anyone else’s. Stop running long drawn out pass plays, when you have a crap o-line and you may have a healthy QB at the end of the game.
This. It’s like he never learns. And when we get shredded by short passes from other teams he never sees that and goes “wow, maybe that could work for us”.
For sure. It’s the whole route concept and how the QB has to read what the WR is going to do in real time.
It’s much quicker to read a single LB on a slant concept with two receivers needing to be covered quickly by one LB.

I’m good with trotting out Murray this weekend. The coaches believed him to be the best QB on the team.
Wentz has been sacked 6 times in 2 games. Dude is a mannequin after he takes his drop. Murray will add mobility and extend the play rather than standing there and getting pummeled.

Murray has a higher ceiling and a lower floor than a healthy Wentz, IMO.
I’ve been waiting to see what Murray can do as a Viking, and I have almost no data at this point still. I’m excited to see what happens in Tampa.
I also think Murray is capable and making all of the throw that we’ve seen Wentz make so far. So if he can do that, and scramble SMARTLY..it will go a long way

I refuse to turn on my furnace until October. September is the only month of the year I dont have to run anything and still be comfortable inside. And my electric and natural gas bill end up being $50 or less. Its great.
That’s my view every September, but my wife is pregnant and thus has a super-human sense of smell, meaning she likes to open windows and air out the house during the day and the warmth in the house hasn’t recovered. Also, I wanted to test out my new furnace. So I started it today.
Thats understandable. Gotta keep her comfortable. Im curious what I am going to do in the winter. My lady friend and I are both furnaces and we sleep warm and if we are anywhere close to each other in the bed we overheat and get uncomfortable and my bed room is the warmest room in the house. I already told her we wont need extra covers come winter, that room will be a sauna.

I shoot for November 1st…but when it gets down to 61 in the house my wife usually demands I start the furnace.

I’m going against kiddo this week and fantasy football. I was up by 30 before the game started, he had Davante Adams left to play, and I had scatterbrained left to play. He went ahead, but then scaffold caught a pass for 0 yards, which is one point because of the Reception, and it put me ahead by under a point. The Rams were up, so they quit throwing, Adams didn’t get another catch. Adam’s finished with 39.5.
I won by less than a point. That sucks, I was hoping he would win.
I guess it’s not this week. It was last week. It ended last night anyway.
It’s good for kids to know their dads are awesome and win things, though.
We finished first and second in our fantasy league the last two years, he won it last year, I won it the year before. The one two years ago was really close, I think it was under 2/10 of a point.

The population is well under 100, I love going to these places. The drive is peaceful, and the visit usually is, too. Most of the time, nobody answers, and I just fill out the form, take three pictures, and leave. I’m usually not there longer than five minutes. Then I turn around and go home.

Sorry to hear about Marley Hammer Man. That’s tough. The only thing that gave me a tiny bit of solace when I had to put my lab down was when I realized that the dog I was trying to hold onto was no longer there and I was just holding onto the memories which I still have. Our very was super awesome and came over to our house. I sent the wife and kids out to dinner and grilled the pup a ribeye. When the vet showed up I sat on the floor with her and she came and laid her head on my lap for the first time in 14 years and fell asleep.
Yup, very hard to put a dog down. They truly are man’s best friend.

Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League Week 2 Summary
The NFL continues to toy with me. I had a hard time picking games this week. I only felt confident about four or five of them and gave them confident points accordingly. Lo and behold, I got almost all of my “confident” games wrong and did pretty well picking the games I was not confident about.
The crazy week resulted in a lot of shuffling on the leaderboard.
JacksonVike erupted up to first place in an explosion of points. And I say, good for him. Let him spread those wings and fly! He is a modern day Icarus, which, as we all know, is a wonderful story of reaching our full potential and not a warning about success at all…
Mjolnir also blew up like Tom Brady’s knee in 2008. He is tied for first place with 191 points. This might be Mjolnir’s first season, but he is proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with, like the Maginot Line.
PA Viking drops down into second place, but it is not a huge drop. He is only one point out of a three-way tie for first. Still, it is good that JacksonVike and Mjolnir are putting some pressure on him. Soon, he will start making crazy picks to try to make up ground. And then, it will all unravel. Next thing you know, he will be living on the street and muttering, “Herbert will eventually realize his potential. Certainly, this week…”
Bowbunch is in third but is also not that far from the top. He is only four points behind. Making up four points is nothing. Four points would have beaten the Bears this week. HEY-YO!
I am in fifth. Despite my great failure on picking sure things this week, I an not in that bad of shape yet. If I have a good week three, I can get right back into the mix at the top. On the other hand, if I suck this week, I will have problems. In addition to all my other problems, like being too good looking.
Surly owns the sixth spot. Really, it is confidence points that are screwing him. He is actually pretty good at picking the games otherwise. He has picked 21 games right. Four of us have picked 21 games right. Only Mjolnir has more correct with 22. Since all of us did so well, I award each of us an additional 10 points. If I combine those 10 points with the phantom 6 points I got last week, I am actually in first place!
DE Viking and Peterplaysbass are watching everyone’s back in last place to make sure Harrison Smith’s Metamucil doesn’t sneak up on anyone and soften their stools too much. Why do they call going #2 a “stool” anyway? You can’t sit on it. Then again, if you are that constipated, maybe you can…
Everyone got Buffalo, Eagles and 49ers games right. Everyone got Tampa Bay, Baltimore and Chargers wrong.
Genius Picks go to me and PA. We were the only ones to pick the Bengals over the Texans. I was surprised more people didn’t pick the Bengals. The Texans are a non-entity to me. What the heck is a “Houston Texans” anyway? What a horrible name for a football team. It’s like calling us the “Minneapolis Minnesotans.”
I also get an Iconoclast Pick award, along with JacksonVike and Peterplaysbass. Peter was the only one to take Indy over KC (and he was almost right). JacksonVike was the only one to take the Jets over GB. We admire his gumption. I was the only one to take Pitt over NE. Why did I do that? I thought maybe NE would suck again.
We had three Traitor Picks: me, PB and DE all took Chicago over the Vikes. I even took them for 13 freaking points! I do not regret that, but I rue and lament it. I should have put those 13 points on the Seahawks, who I only took for 2 points. Why did I do that? Because I am a moron. Nevertheless, I gave championship effort and have one of the highest pick rates in the league currently…
I love these summaries and I hope you do them every week.
I really thought Indy could win, and they nearly did. Oh well. Mahomes looks a lot more calm and in control so far this year.
I try to do them every week so people know exactly where they rate on the pecking order and how to adjust their self-esteem accordingly.
I watched the first half of the KC/Indy game, but then I had to go to bed. When I retire, I’m going to stay up until like 10 PM every night!
