Happy Friday and welcome to Skoloholics. The weekend will soon be upon us. And by us, I mean those of us that still have jobs. For all of the retired folks here every day is the weekend. VP being partially retired and working one day a week, reminds me of my cousin. He thought a 4 hour shift at the gas station was a daunting job. My mom was visiting her mom, my grandma, and my cousin was there. My mom was going to take my grandma for supper, and my grandma asked my cousin if he wanted to go with. My cousin, in his most exhausted voice, said “Grandma, I just got off a 4 hour shift. I’m too tired to go for supper”.My grandma asked him if he wanted her to bring him anything? He said yes, and she asked what he wanted. His response ” I’m tired, just bring me anything”.
Denver managed to outlast Seattle last night in a 17-14 victory. I picked Denver to win, but I thought I should have changed it when I saw DE picked them as well.
Brewers knock off the Dodgers and hopefully the Rays can come back and win their series against the Indians Guardians.
Don’t forget to checkout the comments, it is where the real action is. Just remember to respect each other.
QOTD:
Do the Vikings make any moves before the trade deadline?
Let us know in the comments.

Cowboys-Pukers….
Making your way in the world today takes everything you got
Can think of times when it was a lot harder.
Context is key.
And taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away
About 12 years ago we took a big family trip out to Maine – stopped in Boston, found Cheers. They were actually filming a commercial that day, and I got to be in it with my wife (and some of her brothers/sisters).

We’re the geeks in the blue Tshirts at the end – there’s a shot of me at the end of the row where they panning down the row of my wife’s family, then a close up of me and my wife in the next shot.
Eyyy thats pretty cool! You got a good voice on yuh man. Or, at least you arent tone deaf haha
Had a successful youth hunt yesterday and got my kid his first deer. I’ll share a picture later when I get one saved to my computer. Hopefully you guys behaved yourselves yesterday.
How many teenagers you shoot?
Not putting anything in writing fed. I did get a T-Rex last October though. It was crazy. Right in my front yard and it was carrying a bag of candy.
Congrats! Bow tag im assuming? Or youth rifle?
Youth rifle is yesterday and today. Regular rifle starts next weekend.
Nice. Im heading down just across the ND/SD boarder this weekend with the old man for SD Pheasant opener, tag some birds.
Yum
Yummmm is right. You make those?
Way too many vegetables!
Coax AD out of retirement
Or Herschel Walker
And ‘switch’ him for Mason/Clairborne?
Why not Terry Allen or Robert Smith while you’re at it
Hell bring back Leroy Hoard
That might just be the kind of switch the team needs…
That would be nuts
It sounds like maturity issues was the biggest thing with McCartney. Swing and a mess, minimal damage.
That’s a shame. He’s a good performer though, I’ve always been a fan of the Beatles.
The Beatles suck
I’d say drafting him at #10 then trading him for a 5rd round pick is more than minimal damage
“The Law Of Diminishing Returns”
Read on another site, for what that is worth, a few weeks back it was mostly maturity issues. KOC would tell JJ what to do and how and JJ simply wouldn’t do it.
Guess KOC reached his limit with that.
So, after watching Bo Nix for a while now, I’m thinking he sucks. Makes the JJ pick just ahead of him, suck a little less.
That plus JJ has 10 starts. I still think JJ can improve.
I expect if he fails to pass Famous Jameis in NY then he will be a career backup.
Darnold sucks too
Nix doesn’t suck, but he’s not as good as everyone was saying last year.
I don’t know what to expect out of the new GM before the deadline.
He might be happy with how good he looks currently and will save his bullets.
QOTD: I’d really like Tony Pollard at RB but his dead cap would be 8M for the Titans.
Edge and guord too
Healthy starter quality depth at RB is a must if we are serious about making a push.
I would like that.
Pollard is on my fantasy roster, and with him moving to the Vikings I think his productivity would help me a lot.
RE: the story up top. One time my wife and I were talking to one of our nephews who was in his early 20s. He told us he was working full time. Come to find out, he thought 20 hours per week was full time.
There is no doubt that my generation (I’m an early Gen Xer) completely shit the bed raising their kids.
I learned recently that I am Gen Jones, aka the tail end of the Boomers.
Generation Jones is a demographic cohort and micro-generation born between 1954 and 1965, sitting in the transitional “cusp” space between Baby Boomers and Generation X.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Jones
Years ago KFey had mentioned Reddit…I hadn’t heard of it at that point. Since then I have joined a couple of groups (alumni back at the University of Alberta, etc). If you go to the main or popular pages you quickly realize that there is a large cohort of posters that have very left leaning, socialist ideals, that identify as the millennial generation. Very strong thoughts on immediately getting paid the top tier wages for their position at a new job, not working a traditional office job 40+ hours/week, CEO’s should be paid less, healthcare should be universal and “free” etc…nothing earth shattering but you realize where the support for the El-Sayed and AOC agendas comes from.
I almost wish I could live long enough to watch my children’s generation completely destroy the world. Just to say “I told you”.
Almost.
Eventually they will realize that Socialism is no better than the current system they despise. Humans will still be in control, and most humans suck.
“Universal healthcare”
for me
I still do not know enough about that topic from people that live in countries with “universal health care” to determine if there is a benefit for most people.
I know our system drives me crazy, and I hate insurance companies.
I still have not seen 1 instance of complete government control of an industry making things better for people/individuals.
what do I know, I am just a cranky “Generation Jones” boomer.
I dated a German girl when I was stationed in Berlin. She was telling me about their health care, and all of the free proactive things they got every year, like the 2 free weeks at a health spa regardless if they were healthy as a horse or not.
You were in Berlin as well?
I was there from 80-84, went from the 2nd Battalion 6th Inf to Clay HQ 76th Chemica Det.
Fascinating Place.
Were you at McNair?
I was there 88-91 (we got to pull East Berliners over the wall that night). USAF, so I was at Tempelhof, worksite was Marienfelde.
Yes, Alfa Gators, near the gate babies.
That would have been awesome, that wall was evil, with all of the crosses posted on them for E. Berliners that were killed by E. German guards trying to cross it.
We made it a goal to visit every pub on the Ku-Damm while we were stationed there.
Failed miserably – there was over 3000 of them.
I was sitting with a hot german lady with another german couple on the Ku Damm near KaDeWe and Kiaser Wilhelm Church.
When the discussion evolved to hometowns and I said I was from Santa Barbara the guy from the other couple asked me ‘what the hell are you doing here??’
Here? One of the more famous streets on the planet?? I just said ‘The women are better’. He looked at his girlfriend and was forced to agree. :))))
I love that they have a policy that if a doctor writes a note you can get x weeks of time off, paid, for having a cold. Awesome.
PS that is sarcasm
And then the germans complain constantly about their high taxes.
Building construction lasted years, because they didn’t pay property taxes while land was under construction.
That, and the workers were allowed to drink on the job…………
Yup, our Healthcare system is so f***ked up. Obamacare may be nothing great, but at least we had an administration that tried something. I’m still waiting for Donnys bigger, better, more beautiful Healthcare plan that he promised all of us…….during his first term.
Yep.
It is a clusterfuck.
Still, people from countries with universal healthcare in whatever form, still end up here when they need the best medical care if they have the money.
I have no clue how to fix it. I just complain.
I can give you a classic long drawn out MT style post or just answer, “NO”.
Does that mean you can see any doctor in the universe?
just the human ones
Here’s the thing though, Reddit was not always like that, and I even joined that website late, around 2014. It had been around for quite a bit longer before that and emerged from another website. You could see as time went on, when “big tech” started to take over, Reddit was quickly gobbled up by the Government and was infiltrated by bot centers. A lot of the comments and posts and bot driven and artificially pushed. And the website itself is moderated from the top down by hand picked hard left leaning individuals or Government plants. Watch traffic on there during election season, its CRAZY. Iv been banned so many times for just counter pointing the extremist posts. I only use it for sports subs and maybe some true crime posts. Also a majority of the users on there now are 25 and younger, so out of the millennial scope, were getting old now too, 30-40.
Man, that tracks for me. 1963 bday here, so last year of the boomers and also fit that time. This sentence defines me for my entire life.
Key characteristics assigned to members are pessimism, distrust of government, and general cynicism
We grew up having to figure everything out on our own, so we expected our kids to do the same thing.

Happy Friday. SKOL brothers and sisters. I hate bye weeks. The only thing to do is root against the Eagles.
Heading out to golf. Wet out again. 27 inches of rain since August first, so i should be used to it. But my golf ball gets very little roll. Cold front comes through tonight, so storms and then a few days of “November-like” weather, at least for us.
No Viking movrs yet, but that may be ok. I really think we could use some OL depth, but i am not convinced we are serious Supet Bowl contenders yet. By Thanksgiving, we will know
http://ftp…..
We have had 40 inches here in last 30 days. Every drive plugs and you get maybe one foot of roll – make for a long course. But weather is getting nicer with much less humidity so that is good.
Now I just need to figure out how to hit the ball 20 yards further.
Hitem well.
Off to a bad start in Pick ‘Em League already. I took the Seahawks. I guess I should have took note that the Game was in Denver.
Oh well, it was my “1” point game, at least.
Did you wake up from the root canal to see the dental hygeneist buttoning up her shirt?
hot
Or maybe the dentist?
More like…
This was quite risqué for back in the day, but very funny.
I didn’t get the root canal unfortunately. They said the tooth is beyond saving. Just pull it. That appointment is Wednesday, so I have to grin and bear it until then. They put me on antibiotics, so the pain isn’t too bad.
I think my body is basically eating my tooth and considering it an infection at this point.
I could just have the dentist pull it if it gets too bad, but I want to try to make it to the oral surgeon, so they can just put the implant stem in at the same time…or bone graft, if they need to build it up first.
I’d leave the empty socket if it was back far enough, but that tooth is a major chewer, so I need something there.
Are you good at whittling? Whip up something temporary…..
Super good at whittling!
