Minnesota Vikings Discussion: Skoloholics 10/19/2026 – Daily Thread

Screenshot 2026-07-13 093634_edited

Happy Monday and welcome to Skoloholics. The bye week is over, we can now get back to cheering for our favorite team. I did not get to watch much football this weekend, as I was working on a project in my garden. But, I see there were some surprises; like the Rams getting beat at home by the Cardinals. This pick knocked just about everyone out of the survivor league. Sorry Kfey, I hope you didn’t take everyone’s advice. A couple others, Tennessee beating the Colts, the Browns beating the Ravens and Houston beating Jacksonville.

The Sunday night game didn’t go the way, I had hoped. Where are all of the meteors when you need them? I was hoping Dallas could actually do something and beat the Packers. Not that I would cheer for the cowboys to win, more so that the Packers would lose.

JJ McCarthy got into the game for the Giants and almost led them to a comeback win. JJ went 11/21 for 240 yards in just under 12 minutes. Did the Vikings give up too soon, or was it just a lucky day, for Nine x2.

QOTD:
Will the Vikings be able to keep there undefeated streak alive, coming out of the bye?

Let us know in the comments.

The Refs helped the Redskins make the game interesting but in the end the 9ers remain undefeated 23-17.

Well half of it will be burned down, but like SF when the Chinese Primer showed up, there will be enough police/troops around to safeguard their investment.

Stu and I are neck and neck in our survival league this week. He’s 1.5 points ahead of me, he had Evans, but he’s ruled out for the rest of the game, I have the 49ers defense.

An interception by SF puts me ahead, two sacks puts me ahead. I’m guessing I’m going to lose by a point or something.

Fun match though

Rams fat kicker sucked and got cut last week.
Current kicker got hurt this week, so the Rams are now looking for another kicker.

Nice to see some other team having kicking issues for a change.

I think the Vikings gave up on JJ a bit early, but I’m not in that building and don’t know what exactly transpired. What I do know is the new GM has no ties to him, to me it comes down to KOC and he basically said nah, I want someone else so GM got what he could in the trade. There are reports about immaturity, not completely understanding the offense, poor fundamentals, but it’s hard to improve at anything when you can’t stay on the field and I think that’s been his biggest issue, the rest stems from there.

This ^ – two things can be true at once. In 10 years will he be a top 3 QB and make the Vikings regret letting him go? Maybe? But that hasn’t happened yet and it has a pretty low chance of happening, the time to fight about it is not 10/19/2026. He’s still ass as of today.

Can’t put it all on Herbert. I think the new OC is part of the problem. Just doesn’t seem to be any sort of chemistry between them. Kids got all the upside that you could ask for in a starting QB, but has had so many changes of HC and OC in his 6 years. It’s a dysfunctional franchise with a shitty owner imo.

Did the Vikings give up to early on JJ – not sure?
KOC is a fine coach and JJ may turn out to be a fine NFL QB, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it would work out here.
For whatever reason KOC lost confidence in JJ’s ability to learn, and it has been suggested KOC was very frustrated that JJ wouldn’t listen.
Sometimes two good people are a little like oil and water and just don’t mix well.
Hope KOC finds his QB and JJ does well with the Giants.

As I said yesterday;

‘I also thought it was too early.
But the HC, OC, QB coach saw him every day and the new GM saw enough to be convinced he was a problem.
I have to assume that they know a heck of a lot more about the young man than I (or the media ‘experts’) do.’

Looks like quite the shakeup in the Collage Rankings, more politics than anything at this point.

  1. Miami
  2. BYU
  3. Ohio St
  4. Notre Dame
  5. Georgia

I watched the ND/BYU game. ND did not impress me.

I did like the GA QB, Gunner Stockton. He had a rough game, but I liked the passing ability and grit. OK, 2 INTs, but a lot of passes just threading the needle

Miami is #1 because they made the title game last year. They needed 2 OTs to beat an unranked team this weekend and in fact have yet to beat any ranked team this year.

5 teams in the Top 25 that have 2 losses, all from the SEC, simply politics.

A lot of unknowns, he might have been an average level QB with KOC on the cheap, which is fine, and all this roster needs it to be. But him getting a new deal and wanting to be a starter QB was always overkill to me. Glad we didn’t over pay him.

On the JJ thing.
Time will tell. Only 52% completion rate yesterday, but he looked much better than Kyler has on this team for most of the season.

Murray looked really good last week. Time will tell.

As a Vikings fan, I expect things to go south for the Vikings, and the Giants will contend in the playoffs with JJ looking better each week.

If that happens,

Ah yes, that game where we were in position to score 30+ points if two red zone fumbles dont happen? We moved the ball easily that entire game dude. There’s context there besides the box score. Murray also did some things that JJ wishes he could do so, im not sure where the hate is coming from.

Like rush for 50 yards? Oh, wait, JJ had 25 in less than a quarter. If they moved the ball so well, How come the team had only 382 total yards (229 passing, 153 rushing)? The Giants, including the 3 bad quarters from Jameis had 395 yards passing and 84 rushing. If the Vikings offense was any good, they should do better than the Giants. If this was one bad game, that would be a little different, but that may have been the best offensive performance of the year, which is not good.

Well lets check back after two weeks. I think they will handle the Colts with ease and the offense will put up 21+ on its own not counting will the Thrill. They can and should score on the Lions. Murray has not been a problem for 6 quarters and I will argue with you on that.
