Once again Tuesday is upon us. Looks like the Falcons routed the Saints, our opponent this coming Sunday. I was able to watch the second half of Sunday’s game. If Murray can continue to play like he did in the 4th quarter, we may actually have a team this year. I will wait to see him face a good to great opponent before jumping on the Murray bandwagon, though. The thing with Wilson is at least somewhat understandable, ref likely didn’t know Wilson was shoved into him, he overreacted and shouldn’t have been more professional and deserves what he got, the other guy just standing there yelling profanities at a player is inexcusable.
The Ref said later that he was focusing on breaking up/preventing a fight between Wilson and the guy who shoved him into the Ref.
I thought the Wilson incident was a big nothing burger. You get slammed into by a player, you pop off, no penalty flag thrown or ejection, life goes on. Are they suspending the ref because the snowflakes the league is trying to attract find masculine physicality and emotions threatening?
It was a nothing burger, but the ref acted like a 5 year old that Wilson took away his birthday. The guy was so pissed he couldn’t even process that Wilson was trying to help him up and express concern/sorry.
I think the league was impressing upon the refs that they need to treat the players they same way they expect to be treated.

I didn’t bring him up today, but people can’t move past him. They miss him and wish we had a competent QB so they have to point out when he doesn’t win so they can feel better about letting him go.
What I don’t understand is all the people saying “with our Defense, Special Teams and all our Offensive weapons, we don’t need a great QB, we just need someone average” and then saying Cousins, who is somewhere around “good not great” isn’t good enough.

Yep, doesn’t make sense. Nobody will ever convince me he’s not competent enough to win with a team like this. It always devolves into the salary cap, but my argument is always quality of QB play.

I just went back and looked, it was basically even between the first two games but yeah, Vikings dominated TOP last week, they had decent drives, just couldn’t finish, every time they they got near the red zone it was an offensive line penalty, dropped pass, or Murray took a sack to ruin it.
Offense won’t either, 3 & Outs don’t take much time off the clock individually…..

FYI his teammate fumbled the kickoff with 3 mins left, otherwise they would likely have regained the lead with little time left in the game. Kirk outplayed Mahomes (look at the stats) and only had a turnover on the last drive when his arm was hit when throwing. He wasn’t the reason they lost that game (they were down 11 with under 3 mins left and he got them a TD with a 2-pt conversion and almost in range for a FG at the end). KDS dude.

Well, it would be one thing if his teammate didn’t put him down by 11 with under 3 mins left and he didn’t get a TD with a 2-pt and almost get his team back into the game in FG range. It would be another if it was just a bad pass/decision on where to throw the ball, but it was a hit arm interception. With all due respect, anyone who isn’t willing to admit Kirk has played great this year is not very objective and their opinions are questionable.

KDS came about at the same time TDS was being widely discussed in the media. Maybe I’m alone but every time all of you yammer about Cousins on Tuesdays I automatically say Jee___ Fu___ Chr___ it’s Kirk Derangement Syndrome again…both sides got it but the anti-Kirkos are the worst, by far.
Yeah, I can see how people get frustrated with one particular Kirk defender (and I don’t think he’s as good as that person does), but I see it as an injustice to claim he was as bad as people here seem to think he was. Overpaid? Yes. But he was a very good QB and actually gave our offense some passing production and helped 2 WR’s set league records. This year’s offense has been almost unwatchable.
He threw one TD all game and it was in the first quarter. Kirk Defense Syndrome blinds so many fans. They finally play a tough competitive team under the big lights and there you go. Come November everything will even out and history will play out like it always has.

Skoloholics Pick ‘Em League Update #4
I don’t want to talk about this week. I did stupidly. I’m not going to make excuses because that would be weak and beggaredly. Instead, I will present valid reasons. I’ve been sick. I am working long days due to harvest. Plus, my wife continues to find me incredibly attractive and will not stop harassing me physically and emotionally.
But, whatever. I guess we have to talk about it.
We’ve had some shuffling at the top of the standings. Bowbunch continues his rise from the bottom and now holds the top spot in tandem with Mjolnir. I’m not saying that I am insanely jealous of either of them, but I wish they would place ads for roommates in their local papers, and I would answer them, and they would accept me at their housemate, and I would gradually grow creepier in my behavior toward them until I start dressing like them and cutting my hair like them and eventually replacing them.
So, yeah, not jealous at all…
Peterplaysbass is in second place, and PA is so close to him in third place that I consider them tied in spirit. Plus, that saves me from having to write an additional paragraph to cover both of them. Both of them can still see the top spot from where they stand, they are so close. They are so close that even Kyler Murray could see the top spot from where they are without being boosted onto their shoulders. Tiptoes would probably be sufficient…tiptoes while wearing stilts, of course.
Then we got JacksonVike in fifth place. He used to be in first place. I imagine he is a little bit discombobulated by the fall, and we should all be supportive and understanding, like a jock strap with a degree in counseling.
Somehow I am in sixth place and not super far from fourth place. I don’t know how that happened. I really hated my results this week, but I’ve been okay at picking winners. I am tied with three other guys at picking games. This week I hated my Tampa Bay pick because I should have realized Baker Mayfield was out. Then I hated my Saints pick because I forgot Dijion Robinson or whatever his name is existed. So why did I pick those teams? Because I’m an idiot sandwich!
Next, DE and Surly are tied at the bottom, but they are not really that horribly out of the picture. A good week and they would shoot up to third or fourth pretty easy. I am certainly doing my part to suck so I can be passed. I hope they appreciate it.
Everyone got the Rams, Ravens, Vikes, Chiefs and 49ers games right. Everyone got the Steelers and Bills games wrong. This might be the best overall week we’ve had for picking games. At least, we didn’t screw up en masse this time. That is what we call in the jockstrap counseling business as “personal growth.”
We had one Iconoclast Pick this week. Bow is the only one who took the Jets to beat the Bears. The might Case Keenum took his vengeance upon Bow for that pick.
We will hand out Genius Picks to Bow and Peterplaysbass for getting the Panthers and Falcons games right.
We had no Traitor Picks. Everyone took the Vikes. I somewhat suspect that will hold true next week, as well, unless someone wants to rise to the challenge of picking the ‘Aints.
I’m just glad this week is over, and the damage I did to myself was minimal. For this next slate of games, I intend to unleash the full force of my brain power and put in roughly fourteen hours of studying game film, in addition to flipping a coin.

Well, I’m eliminated from the survival league. Baltimore lost to the *aints in week 2 and Buffalo lost to the Patriots in week 4. I should have known better than to pick a divisional game.
Saints defense is not good, and their offense is basically “F it – we go deep” until they get within the red zone. I think Flo can handle that. I expect an ugly game again but not as ugly.

I had the whole season planned out to be able NOT to have to get Sunday Ticket. There was supposed to be only one week where the Packers and Vikings coincide here in WI, but they not only limit Fox coverage to one per area each Sunday but they also moved the Packers-Bears game to noon this coming Sunday.
I’d rather watch the game sitting on my couch, free to grab anything I want from the fridge, but yet again I’m going to have to go to a sports bar and drop down money on food and beer.
Hopefully this is the last week to have to deal with this, but it looks like week 8 and week 10 might also give me the Fox one-game-only coverage issue.

Don’t think I’ve mentioned before, after installing our south facing deck we found that the big sky sunshine and gentle Montana breezes made spending time on the deck rather disagreeable. We had a “pergola” installed this spring with motorized louvers…it was not cheap. A plethora of options were available including fans, lighting, pull down screens, etc, which this fella declined.
Had a very dry summer, but my wife kept saying I needed to check how the drainage from the pergola system was handled (rain coming off the roof is channeled invisible around the edges into hidden pipes). Finally I got down on my hands and knees and removed the skirting, the nincompoops had just put an elbow on the pvc inside the metal legs to drain under the deck, pointing right at the footings. Would have been a delight in a derecho to have the footings wash out and the ledger board pop off the shouse.
We got two inches of rain three days later.
I installed extensions to go under the deck skirting and poured concrete to hold them in place. Called the installer who “could not believe” my words and was “amazed” at my subsequent pictures. Said “I can send a guy out to take care of it”. Told him he could either pay me or I’d snitch to the state consumer protection division.
Then he did this elaborate oh the bank will send you the cheque the cheque is in the mail the bank sent the cheque you should have it any day until three weeks later he actually mailed the cheque after I told him I highly doubted his story of a BANK mailing a cheque to me and that he would find my MT-style discourse to the state very very amusing.

I’m in the same situation. First year without Sunday ticket in a while. Got to damn expensive for only needing it 3-4 games a year. Yup, been to the bar twice already to watch the vikes and have to do it again next week. I prefer to watch on my couch also, but I will say it’s kinda fun putting vikes gear on and watching with other purple fans.
I personally find Sunday Ticket well worth it. I couldn’t tell you how many games I would potentially be able to watch without it, but I would venture to guess about half. Nonetheless, there are no weird hiccups like the game not starting at the expected time, etc. I wanted to watch the NDSU-Wyo game but for some reason it didn’t broadcast until game’s end, so that meant my plan for Saturday blew up and I just glanced at the score late in the game and didn’t even speed watch it. My free time is pretty tightly allocated on the weekends so Sunday Ticket works great.
Yeah, I’ve had it before, but if I can watch all but 3 or 4 games of the season anyways, the cost isn’t worth it. Plus, I hate giving the NFL my money.
The Teacher manages our Network accounts as she watches much more of that stuff than I do.
She occasionally asks if I want more access to the NFL and I tell her the same, not worth the $$ and the NFL doesn’t deserve any of our money.
