Minnesota Vikings Discussion: Skoloholics 11/1/2026 Week 8 Gameday Thread

I’m an old doomer, salted by years of being a possible contender once every 10 yrs, failed drafts and busts and the stars aligning once every 20 years with a real shot only to get close and choke or get molly whomped by a juggernaut team.

Well this year a 6-0 start NOBODY predicted and a defense ranking up there with the all time greats. Offense with talent but underperforming and only real attribute is ‘not losing the games” but has some nice pieces that may or may not gel.

The juggernaut teams have fallen apart, there’s some nice squads with good play maybe a SB win last season but they’re certainly not unbeatable.

How often are we in spot? I think it’s been 2 times before in my lifetime, 98, and 09 when we had real contenders. There were some other teams, 2017 was a nice bunch but ultimately got steamrolled.

Those few instances sandwiched between years of up’s and down’s and stuck in the middle.

If not now, when? We going to sit down at the kitchen table, make a well thought out budget and get our household expense under control, quit buying mopar parts to fix up that pos in the garage or another putter or driver to fix that shitty swing when you have 3 full sets of clubs already??

WHEN GODDAMMIT??

Sorry…went off on a tangent there….anyway point is these opportunities don’t come around often. I’ve been on the other side as a young man planning for the future full of hope and ambition, pounding the table that we need to save those picks, get those scouts down to SEC country and root out those turds we can polish in to diamonds and build a contender the right way!

Well…40 years later we’re still the team with the 6th most game wins all time, but only team in the all time game wins top 16 ranking without a SB win. JFC that’s depressing to type that.

Is that the goal, save the assets get to the mid-zone and surf the wave dude or are we trying to have a shot to accomplish the SAME goal we set every February, go win a championship.

So excuse me if I say give the Colts a fair offer. 1st, 3rd, maybe a player like Big Citrus whatever you can stomach to get the deal done and Taylor in the backfield. I won’t bore you with the why he fits so well but he does and he MIGHT be the piece that sets this offense off and running and propels us to juggernaut status and a chance to be the hammer instead of the nail for a change.

Is that too much to ask for the old tired skol brethren out here waiting for one before we die? Think hard about that because I was once you thinking….oh we have plenty of time, we’ll win multiple rings before my hair falls out, wife looks at me like my pair of lawn tennys by the garage door, it’s only a matter of time.
