Watched some Olympic hockey yesterday. The US backup goalie is about as solid as the Vikings QB room right now. That was ugly.

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Saw an interesting clip of Tiger where he was asked if after his most recent back surgery if the Masters was off the table this year. He answered with a quick “no”.

Tiger is finished on the PGA tour.
Age is real.
It’s hype and promotion imo.

Just got back from the Post Office.
Reminded me that coming back from Buc-ees traveling thru Wyoming on Sunday we came across an accident involving a USPS semi. It had drifted into the medium, flipped and busted open. Mail was all over the road, wind was howling and spreading it all over the prairie.
Man, what a cleanup that will be. Probably have to send teams to try and rundown all that mail and try to at least ID it.
It was traveling west so we didn’t have any mail on it we don’t think.

There’s black programs that are completely off the books, this is superficial tracking, and not much more imo. Do I have anything to back that up? No. Has our Government given me any reason to NOT believe that, also no.

I know all about black programs son. I ran a few in my time. You don’t really know how they work. Since Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee who blew the lid off of the National Security Agency’s secret surveillance programs in 2013, much has changed in the black world budget process. There is much more oversight than ever before. Also fraud, waste, and abuse, where funds end up in politicians pockets or political campaigns, were never the problem with that money. It was about what it was being used for to collect information. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, along with CIA activities that were a bad problem. CIA lied, and they got caught.

My view of the transgender or gender dysphoria issue has always been it is a disorder similar to a “dangerously thin” person suffering anorexia who looks in the mirror and thinks they are “overweight.”

Peter Woods, DT is in interesting prospect. I have seen him rated as high as Top 10.
He evidently flashes moments of ‘brilliance’ but he is very inconsistent so he is often drafted much later in the 1st round.
Trust in Coach Flo to know if he is fixable or not.

My first wife’s brother was seriously wanting to change his gender. This was over 40 years ago BTW, and he was always an unsettled child. Eventually he was entered into psychiatric care and therapy. He eventually dealt with his internal demons and came out the other side and made something himself. The family and I knew he was screwed up, and several physicians told us if we didn’t cave to his desires, he would kill himself. Thank God we didn’t do that.

Saw a super sad post on social media.

It essentially said that we only see pedophilia as wrong because of Christian morals. If we remove Christian morals, then we’ll see that it was accepted for many years in the past and we’ll revert back to normal pagan morals. Seemed that people were applauding it?

Destroy the moral compass… destroy the country. The Dems only desire is to rule us… by any means necessary. Socialism gives the Government virtually universal power over the citizens. Its social media, odds are it was posted by a bot or a paid (foreign) agitator and 90% of the comments and likes on it are fake too. I think the stat from a few years ago was that over 75% of the “Christian” posts or pages on any social media site were confirmed fake/manufactured by foreign countries and or bots from foreign countries. This is why I REALLY REALLY push for people to just ditch it all together. At age 26, Edgar Allan Poe married his 13 year old cousin…they were married for 11 years until her death. This was in 1835. Caused a stir back then, but would be diabolical today. Not to advocate such things, but history has taught us that even in the western world teenaged women marrying men in their 20’s or 30’s was common due to the financial and societal norms of the day.

I guess it depends what you define as pedophilia. A girl less than 16 with anyone more than a year older than her? A 14 year old boy with a 24 year old teacher?

I do remember in PE the teacher had a slipper. If you misbehaved, you could either elect to get the slipper (slapping your clothed ass) or go to the principal’s office (and have your parents contacted). I never got the slipper because I was the opposite of a jock. Several guys did, though, and said it was no big deal.

This site will sometimes cause one a brain spasm.
Last week’s post had a HOFer saying Cousins shouldn’t come back. And then today another says the same.
Last weeks got me thinking so I checked around some – too much free time. Came across a little similar video with Shannon Sharpe and Ocho Johnson on the subject. And Ocho had just talked to Justin Jefferson about it. In sum, all three including Jefferson thought it was a good idea for him to come back.
So, two HOF defensive lineman say no, and three elite wide receivers ( one a HOFer and one on his way). say yes he should.
What a conundrum – do I put more weight in defensive lineman or wide receivers.

‘Opinions are like A-holes, everyone has one and they all stink’.

It will depend on his willingness to accept whatever role they envision for him and what his cost would be. I could see it working on a short/cheap deal. Would KC come in for a short cheap deal?? No clue.

Reminds me of the Zach Brown story. In October 2019, then-Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Zach Brown publicly criticized former teammate Kirk Cousins, labeling him the “weakest part” of the Minnesota Vikings offense before their Week 6 matchup. Brown suggested defenses should force Cousins to throw, yet his comments backfired when Cousins threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-20 Vikings win. Brown was released by the Eagles immediately following this performance.

When asked about his comments in the post game presser, Cousins claimed that he had no knowledge of them, and Zach had been a great teammate in Washington.

BTW Zach never played another game in the NFL. Cousins effectively retired him.

So yes, I have been down for the count since Thursday with a bad cold. I was living on Dayquil and Nyquil. Didn’t eat anything until today. I ate about a half a bowl of cereal. Been feverish and just slept mostly. Today I feel marginally better. Also I lost my internet service from Friday at 3 p.m. to Saturday at around 3:30 p.m. It’s interestingly quiet without the internet. I get my TV and everything else through it. What was odd was my phone couldn’t get internet service either. Bother.

Strange, couldn’t even use your phones ‘personal hotspot’ to get internet/wifi?? I was able to use mine out in the middle of Wyoming this weekend. Just a thought.

Glad you are on the mend. When I had the Norovirus it took longer to recover my strength and energy then I had the symptoms. I suspect recovery is effected by age and fitness.

My wife has a very new phone, and she couldn’t get it to pull in the internet as a hotspot either. My phone is only 3 years old, so it should have worked too, but it didn’t. The phones came back on line around 10 a.m. Saturday, then we got our full internet restored about 5 and half hours later.

I definitely was not feeling well with the cold. When you don’t want to eat anything for four days, you’re sick. Age and fitness definitely play a part.

The Teacher was very concern with catching the Norovirus from me as she is normally more susceptible to that type of thing than I am.
Luckily it did not happen and we are taking extra precautions at the gym now, Wiping down equipment before using it and not just afterwards as the rules require. We are still avoiding crowds when possible, although Buc-ees was packed on a holiday weekend.

A coworker sent me an article about the rapid development of AI. In summary, the writer suggested that one get a paid version of one of the AI’s and start using it, every day. That way, you will become facile in its usage and position yourself to use it in ways that give you a leg up over your competition.

I purchased the $20/month subscription to chatGPT the next day. True to form, I am using it every single day. I’ve used it to analyze a 300 yard shooting group, reformat a database to make it easier to input and display data, analyze a powerpoint I am giving to med staff and jazz it up, put our dog in an old picture of my wife and I, give me a ten minute dissertation on ureterolithiasis and sepsis management, give me a packing list for an upcoming cruise, and give me recipe ideas for meatloaf.

It is getting much much better than it was when I last tried using it two years ago.

Eventually it’ll put all physicians out of business. I don’t see radiologists being even close to the first to fall, though. However, I guarantee that every month AI is getting better and better and better, never sleeping, never taking a break. Oh there are good reasons for not bringing in KC or any other Vet if taken individually. They have to find the best fit despite the warts.
The other option is finding the best one that they can find and throwing the farm at his team to try to pry him loose (Burrows).
My point was/is eliminating QBs due to playoff wins would have eliminated Sam from the jump.

There are lots of options out there this offseason.
But first and foremost they have to address the QB Room. Once that is figured out and addressed then they can see what is left and prioritize resources. If they ‘go big’ then harder choices will need to be made with the rest of the roster. If they go small then they will have more to tinker with and can add different players.

Since it’s so slow a little story that sort of ties Ben’s story from last week about Bird and Magic, and today’s about lack of trying by today’s athletes.
This as best as I remember it.
It goes back to the Dream Team at the Olympics. According to Bird, Magic was really having a hard time accepting that MJ was now the man. So the practices were set up mostly by Magic to be mini games with Bird and Magic against MJ and Pippen, and the rest of the sides were split up with the other players (all were great players).
Each mini game was like to 10 buckets. And no matter what, MJ always beat Magic and Bird. Finally, Bird told Magic, time to just accept there time had passed and there’s a new King..
Later, Charles Barkley would say that was the most intense, competitive basketball that he ever played in his life.
And it was done without one cent on the line.

Yes, Bird was having back problems. But even at their best, MJ was too much for them.
Since it was Bird’s story, I just sort of figured he saw the writing on the wall.
Just thought it was pretty special, that some of the best basketball players of all time, were going at it like that just for bragging rights.

bird knew long before that how good MJ would likely become, I don’t remember what year but sometime early in MJs career during warmups for a game Micheal’s ball bounced over to Larry’s side, Micheal made some sort of gesture for the ball and Bird just threw it away into the stands to send a message. He would later admit that he knew what Michael could become and wanted any edge possible, then a few years later he called him god disguised as Michael Jordan when mj dropped 60 on Boston

I think that’s part of it. It also seems that they “don’t want to risk getting injured in a ‘meaningless game.'” I feel the competitiveness of the players in the past wanted nothing but to show they’re the best of the best. They wanted to win a game because it was competition.

Maybe I’m romanticizing the past, but it seemed the players tried much harder, which made it fun as a fan because you got to see the very best compete against each other for one game.

Nah, it was just pre-Hans Device and I don’t know if there was a safe barrier. The crash snapped his neck. They’ve been fighting similar issues in the current car with concussions. The Hans Device is keeping them from breaking their necks, but they had to redesign the cars a bit mid season from all the concussions. The way they handle concussions compared to the nfl makes me think the nfl is seriously lacking. Nascar has a lot more tests and drivers are out for multiple weeks and usually 1-2 months for a concussion. There will be another round of nfl lawsuits in 5-10 years.
