Vikings and NFL News
There is a game today. A game that does not include the Vikings, and has not for a long time. We do have former Vikings to root for, with Bradbury and Diggs on the Patriots, and “Sam I Am” Darnold on the Seahags. Choose your poison. Either way, the day those players left the Vikings is turning into the best day possible for those three. I think the Seahawks are the better team, and I really only hated them in the past because Russel Wilson is the most annoying human ever. The Patriots I was just tired of. This is an entirely new team, and I like Drake Maye and Vrabel is a solid coach. I hope the game is entertaining, and I will take a nap during the halftime show. Both teams are better than the Vikings at every level. Players, coaching, ownership. I am not sure how big the gap is, I guess that is a continuing topic. Maybe when KOC gets fired Flores will finally be a head coach again….
Question of the day. What food are you making for Gameday snacks? Beef queso dip and enchiladas for me. I also have a few beers left over from Christmas since I did the dry January thing again. I will finish the beer in the fridge so I am no longer tempted….

I watched the halftime show out of curiosity. The worst thing ever. It may have been good if I either spoke Spanish or liked and bunnys “music”. Since neither is true, it was awful
I liked all the fake flashing lights to make it look like people were taking pictures.

Björn Werner is the expert. Huge grain of salt. They are still right though. At least we found out that “Nine” is not ready yet (and made of glass) and most likely NOT the answer at QB.
There are many more ‘fans’ complaining now in hindsight than there was last year at this time.

I saw both sides of the discussion and trusted KOC and KAM to ‘get it right’. Both failed obviously, why is still debated, but hindsight is, and always has been, 20/20.
Couldn’t agree more. And we needed to find out what we have in ‘Nine’ (an immature college kid who’s nowhere near ready to lead a team in the NFL IMO, but that’s just me). We did. Still, they are rightfully ridiculed for not taking the safe bet, and that obviously would have been keeping Sam. Franchise tag, anyone?

Our Offense would have been better, but probably not as good as Seattles since they have a better running game. Would Sam have stayed healthy with all of our OL injuries?? Would he have been as successful with KOCs play calling as Seattles?
Personally I think those saying we would be in the SB with Sam are full of it. No one knows, we would have been better than we were but SB?? No way to know. IMHO of course.
All I’m saying is, despite all the injuries and stuff, this team would have fared (probably much) better with Sam Darnold. Not saying we’d be in the SB, because that’s indeed kinda stupid, but I’d take any bet (hindsight, I know) that we at least would have made the playoffs.
Concerning the Kumbaya Krew, at least they fired Queasy. That move alone makes me have a little bit more hope for the future, despite “Nine”.
Be that as it maye, I hope Sammy D. wins the big enchilada tonight. Just to rub it in, as mentioned above.
Saying that we would have made the playoffs with Sam is not a long reach, we would have made the playoff with one better KR coverage.
KAM executed his plan and lots his job over it, Sam in the SB is a bad look for him.

It is deserved, but no way do the Vikings get to the super bowl this year with Darnold. Our o line sucks and we do not have a RB named Walker. Would have been 1 and done again.

Below u see a disappointed FC Blau-Weiss Linz supporter on his way home after following his favorite football team to fucking Altach in Vorarlberg, which is a 6 hour train ride from Linz.
You see, we lost. Once again, we lost. There’s a small glimmer of hope, still, but we’re dead last in the league and we’ll likely get relegated to League 2, which will suck. Ah well, I have beer, the train is comfy, and I should make it home just in time for kickoff. Life could be much worse. It’s just sports, after all.
I have a hard time deciding who to root for in today’s SB. On one hand, I’d like Sammy D. to win it all, just to rub it in a little more to the Vikings organization. What a bunch of morons they appear to be, right, after letting Darnold walk and betting on “Nine”? They at least fired Queasy, so that might be a step in the right direction.
On the other hand, I like this Patriots team under Mike Vrabel. Likeable coach, likeable team, a QB the Vikings really wanted (if one trusts the rumors). Don’t care about Stefon D., but Bradbury winning it all with his new team would also rub a little bit more salt in the wound… really hard for me to decide which team to root for. Go meteor, probably.
In the end I guess I’ll just enjoy the game (if I make it home, which is very likely), get comfortably numb, and may(e) the better team win.

Being a Viking fan seems to have inoculated you from some of the pain and depression that occurs after particularly painful losses, almost Zen-like.
Not sure if you should be congratulated or consoled because of that.
Somewhat bizarrely, being a fan of my football team (formerly known as SK VÖEST Linz… we have a VERY strange and heartbreaking history, I’ll elaborate on it in the offseason if you’re interested) prepared me for enduring being a Vikings fan.
I’ve been following my football team from when I was a wee lad (meaning from starting in 1985, when I was 13), and I picked the Vikings as my NFL team around the Millennium. Both teams are tons of heartbreak and suffering, and both I chose willingly, and would never regret both choices. It is what it is, and you hang in there once you’ve made your choice.

Especially galling is those who act their support make the difference to the team or their support of the team makes them special. I first saw that frequently back in the Jorden Bulls days, dudes acting tough cause the bandwagoned MJ and believing their support made all the diff.

Happy Superbowl day! We just have a small gathering of people, 6-8 of us. Our spread of food will consist of chicken wings, meatballs, sloppy joes, lil smokies and plenty of snack food. Probably start with a bloody mary or two, then old reliable, cold budweiser!

Redneck charcuterie – summer sausage, ritz crackers, various cheeses
Cut up some strawberries and mixed them with some blueberries and crushed graham crackers and whipped cream
Got some chocolate peanut clusters I made over the holidays chilling in the freezer – likely put those out.
Cheap Pizza – Hut or Lil Caeser’s
Coffee/Tea/Water – with ice!
Should pair nicely with some pre-rolls and a bowl or three of good flower…

The Teacher said she plans on putting the TP USA halftime show. She doesn’t even know if she will watch it but believes that they deserve the ratings. She will watch the commercials, her favorite part, online afterwards.

Some folks, not the majority. I’ll bet you 5 internet dollars that the SB halftime show will have way higher viewership than any other alternative.
Sure since it is on the main broadcast. Most won’t switch channels, more likely to just mute it and go to the bathroom or get some snacks.

We are making a big pot of chili, with cornbread and Fritos big scoop corn chips.
A friend is bringing over some smoked wings; another friend is bringing over some different dips and chips.
We bought 24 small Bundt Cake pastries for dessert.

Good point concerning the ads. I have to decide if I want to watch on German TV, thereby depriving me of the pleasure of watching a shit ton of mostly absurd American ads, which I get when I hook up the VPN and search for a stream. Might depend on when I get home, searching for a proper stream takes time…
