Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Rookie minicamp starts soon. Hoping for no injuries. I know, that is asking a lot. At least our new first round pick should not get hurt, since he will not be cleared for football activities until June… At least the media will have some footage of things to argue about.
No update on acquiring another WR. Team is looking, players want more money.

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Have a nice day.
we got Jennings
One year prove it deal.
Guess he wasn’t getting the offers that he thought he was worth.
Nice!

RE some of the discussion going on around here lately: I have opinions on all of you, but I generally keep them to myself. I haven’t decided if all of you are AI or if I am AI.
Except for Freezey. He isn’t AI, maybe.
I don’t want to be Al.

The real question is who the fed is. There’s always one and you know the feds are watching this place.
I think he’s been here all along.
The real friends are the feds we made along the way
Is this all about the borscht discussion? Other than spelling “beets” incorrectly I didn’t think it got out of hand. The onion portion got a little heated, I guess.
Laughing… it definitely got ugly there for awhile MT.
‘onion portion got a little heated’
I love sautéed onions.
Joe Senser died. He was one of the first Vikings I was familiar with…
RIP
Worked at his sports bar in Bloomington for about a year. Very nice guy.
A great Viking. Rest in Peace, SKOL!
This makes me exceedingly sad….he was young, only 69.
He was the Vikings TE through my high school years, and of course since I played TE he was one of my favorite Vikings.
RIP to a great Viking and person.
RIP Joe.
Been getting several texts from my friends inside the beltway in Washington, asking me if I’m coming up for the Redskins fan event on May 18th. Might go.
but…but..you are a Vikings fan, not a Redskins fan.
He’s a Kwerk fan.
I have been a Vikings fan since they came to be in 1961. Always loved them. Paul Krause is my favorite Viking of all time. I was raised in Fairfax Va and also loved the Redskins. I went to a lot of Redskins games, especially after FedEx field was built, but certainly attended many games at the old RFK stadium too. My brother finally got season tickets in 1997, after being on the waiting list for over 15 years. Lots of great memories of the Hogs, and Riggins, and Joe Gibbs, and George Allen. Great times. Hated when Snyder finally caved to the liberals and changed the name.
Paul Krause is a super nice guy. I met him in 98 at a Bears/Vikings game at the Dome.
He was signing autographs, so of course I purchased a football and had him sign it.
Very awesome Surly. Color me envious.
Hey NLNV, Borscht discussion follow up…
My wifes ingredients:
Shredded Purple Cabbage and Beats – most important
tomato base – juice, tomato soup, crushed tomatoes – whatever.
Carrots, peas,and corn.
I hate beats. They taste like dirt to me. Wife loves them, though.
Yeah, I do like them, either pickled or cooked with butter.
I’ve never had a beet, but I love anything pickled, carrots green beans celery onions cabbage, etc. i make my own pickles and pickled green beans carrots onions and celery, I might have to try a beet.
I don’t care for beets either, it doesn’t quite rise to the level of hate though.
Hated them as a kid though. Remember hiding them in my glass of milk as a kid to avoid eating them. Ahhh, the good old days.
Oops and potatoes, but no onions…
Hmmm… that sounds good NoDak. Little more to it than my wife’s recipe. Very cool.
She said her ancestors were a pretty poor when they came over from the old country so they included a few more vegetables to make the protein go farther.
Definitely. These dishes reflect the way things were many years ago. Root vegetables were the order of the day. Proteins were not abundant for most folks.
AD’s son getting multiple scholarship offers from major colleges and he is only 14.
“A 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver, running back, and defensive back, Peterson Jr. is impressive in all facets of football.
His routes are pinpoint and explosive. His acceleration is unique. His ability to track the football is uncommon.
He’s an elusive touchdown machine with great vision for the end zone. Of course, it helps to have incredible bloodlines.”
No word on if he is the kid that got ‘switched’ and caused all of the drama.
https://thevikingage.com/adrian-peterson-son-giving-minnesota-vikings-fans-reality-check
That’d be nuts if he was the kid that got switched
That discipline made him what he is today…..
Hope the kid is the real deal and gets drafted and makes zillions….he needs money to take care of his broke father.
Is he option 1/10? How many love children does he have again?
Pun on purpose? Ballsy move!
He’ll win the Heisman and thank his dad, and everyone’s head will explode.
We had our AC go out late Monday. Checked the circuit breakers, no problem there. Called the local, recommended company Tuesday morning and they came out Wed.
Evidently the 20 year old system blew a ‘control thingie’ that needed to be replaced. We had them do a full servicing of the system since we don’t know when it was last done, if ever. $575 later we are now good, ahhh the joys of home ownership.
Disturbing thing was the repairman recommended NOT replacing the whole thing because the new ones are not made as well. ‘Ride it until it dies’ he said ‘because the replacement won’t be as good or last as long’.
Disturbing. At least he/the company turned down replacing it all and gave more better advice. I love Idaho and it’t people way more than Commiefornians.
575 is a bargain….
Ya done good
Yup we got lucky.
Temps are going to get up into the high 80s by Sunday, got if fixed just in time.
Yep, $575 is a pretty good deal. I don’t know about the quality of new models. That commentary is worrisome.
I need to buy new HVAC filters before next week, might have to run the AC for the first time. Thanks for the reminder.
My mom just put in a mini-split heat pump with two indoor units. It was close to $10,000.
Heat pumps should work GREAT in Idaho if you are in the need of a new system eventually. It doesn’t get super duper cold there, so they could probably heat VERY well in the winter on top of the summer cooling.
If you have a natural gas furnace it may not have huge savings in the long run, though.
Will look into it at the time. Thank you for the knowledge.
We do have natural gas here.
Lots to consider.
If you get your electricity from an electric cooperative, check with them when it is new system time. They often offer rebates on heat pumps, if you go that direction.
No cooperative here, city system.
Here is my experience, FWIW.
Our home in Billings had anemic cooling when we moved in (keep in mind temps in Billings like Idaho can easily hit 100 in the summer). We installed a ground source heat pump with a COP (coefficient of performance) of 4 (1 kW of electricity in, 4 kW of heat or cooling out). Was $$$ but we got a tax credit of a third of the cost plus significantly smaller cooling and heating bills.
When we built the shouse, we wanted to put in a ground source heat pump paired with our radiant floor heat, but the local guy wanted three times as much money to install vs what the Billings people charged, and the Billings people were drilling in a neighborhood where they had to contain the drilling mud and slag, vs in the middle of nowhere where you can dump mud anywhere you like.
We opted for a Mitsubishi air to air heat exchanger with a COP of 3.8, works to 8 degrees Fahrenheit. Obviously cheaper to install as you don’t have ground loops, but they ain’t cheap. That baby is a Cadillac in the summer. When we added on, we added a two head unit Gree that works to -12 degrees, but that does not work as smoothly as the Mitsubishi. Mitsu’s are the cream of the crop.
We are installing a Mitsu (they now work down to -13) at the Love Shack. We will keep the electric baseboard heat down at 45 degrees and use the Mitsu as the main source of heating and cooling the whole place. The COP is 4.
TL;DR if you replace get an air to air heat exchanger.
Living in Florida, I don’t have to worry too much about below freezing much. Just lots of heat in the summer.
I’ve seen people go vertical with the GSHP loops in theory, but I’ve never seen it. It sounds like yours are vertical drilled then?
The ones here are done by digging a big loop field about eight feet down and laying them out.
Funny you bring that up. Of course we had a standard 1/2 acre city lot so there would be sizing issues with trying to do a horizontal loop field, plus the lawn and landscaping would have to be torn up. We had 5 vertical loops, each 250 feet deep.
One of my coworkers got talked into a horizontal field when he installed a trophy room addition to his “farm” house on his hunting place over Hysham way. First winter the loops froze up and when the heat failed he lost some water pipes, etc. Had to do some “jury rigging” of the system with supplemental heating and constant circulation of the loops. Probably ended up costing him twice as much as our vertical loops.
At least in our climate, I would never go with shallow ground loops. Besides, it is very simple to bore vertically with a standard water well drill setup.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening here. That’s one drawback of those systems if something goes wrong. Really, any loop system.
We had an infloor heating system here at work and two loops would not hold anything. We took a thermal camera and were able to find the spot under the concrete where there leaking and dug it up. It turns out when they hired a guy with a skid loader to come in and cover all the loops with sand, he accidentally severed two loop with the edge of the bucket.
Checking to see if it’s safe to come to Skoloholics today…
Tread at your own peril…..
*looks around* – looks safe for now. I will say I got accused of attacking someone yesterday when I wasn’t even in the website when the attacking was going on. Should I cry about it on here or, just move on because its another day on a website that really doesn’t hold much weight for me and I use for amusement until the NFL starts? Yeah Ill think I’ll move on.
Yeah, let’s all move on and talk about other stuff.
Like GOLF!!!
So……how’s everyone’s Wordle score lately?
Got it in 4, which is average for me. I get it three often enough. Have gotten it in two several times. But four is my norm.
My wife (retired English teacher) pretty much rocks at all word games….so I generally just stay out of the way and let her do her thing.
I failed at wordle today
‘I
failed atplayed wordle today’ FIFYGot it in four.
Got it in 3 today
What!!!??? we hold no weight for you?? we aren’t important in your life?
You cut me deep…..
I still luv you bb <3
I did not notice mentions of you, but i tend to ignore the “bickering”. No need to bring my mood down.
Its just Jrob doing his thing, Im usually the most vocal for calling people on their BS, am I little over the top and harsh, yeah but, they can take it. I think EVERYONE here wants the season to start ASAP. Even the preseason.
I promise not to make anyone uncomfortable with homoerotic comments.
I contracted some sort of sickness. Hopefully, it isn’t the hantavirus…
You probably have the plague (Covid) – its been going around again.
I grew up in rural ND and have spent plenty of time shoveling out barns and chicken coops with mice infestations. I think I may be immune to the hantavirus – hard to believe I would not have encountered it yet.
I never thought of that. I’ve probably had it, too.
Sorry to hear, hopefully it passes quickly.
It mostly makes me want to sleep. Maybe I just finally ran out of testosterone and need a refill.
Laughing… that’s probably it.
This is Covid…lady at my office just had it (she is still with us) and said the biggest symptom was she was just so tired.
Could be a reaction to the Met Gala.
LOL!
Could be. I am mourning the loss of Jefferson to the weirdos. It’s over for him. He will never be the same. Burrow will be okay because he will end up with McVay in a couple of years.
