Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
Holy cow, I’m almost finished with phase I of this insane cleanout. We got the outside debris removed along with the bio-hazardous materials from inside the home. Yuck. I’d post the before pictures of the toilet, but I don’t want to make anyone puke. I thank God that fishin’ buddy owns a drain cleaning service, he saved the day, I owe him big time. Anyhoo, I’ll do my best to get the thread posted regularly. Surly and Ben, I owe you guys. Many, many thanks to you & everyone who has helped keep this place afloat.

The fam and I are heading to Fargo on Saturday, we entered kiddo into the T.J. Hockenson football camp on Sunday morning. Here’s a link, in case anyone is interested in enrolling a kiddo. I’m not sure if there are spots left, but it may be worth a look-see. Next Saturday is the Justin Jefferson football camp at the Vikings training facility in Eagen. We’re heading to that, too. We’ll post some pics & such here & on Tweeter.
Vikings & NFL News
Yahoo Sports reported that the Vikings laid out some hefty cash to secure a top UDFA offensive lineman, Tristan Leigh, this offseason.
Minneapolis was selected as the site for the 2028 NFL Draft, per Vikings.com. I suppose that’s IF Minneapolis hasn’t been burned to the ground by then, but that goes without saying, which is why I said it.
From Sports Illustrated, the Browns are giving Deshaun Watson a chance to start this season. Uhhhhh, he’s in the last year of his fully-guaranteed contract, they might as well try to get SOMETHING out of the $230 million they spent so foolishly. What a defunct organization they run.
Media Selection
Guys like this is the reason I could never be a cop. I’d just pre-fill the end of every arrest report with “and that’s when I shot him”. Much respect to these cops for being able to control themselves. Also, kudos to the good Samaritan boaters for helping out & saving this lady from further abuse.
Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.

Wow, just wow
RIP… and yeah, wow.
I was never a Rowdy fan. Always respected his talent. He is arguably the most naturally talented person to sit behind a steering wheel, but damn this hurts.
Wow. Race in Dover, DE last week.
Damn.
WTF happened?
No info yet.
He had a freaking cold. 2 weeks ago he said he had a sinus cold. Last week he won the truck race. Got admitted to the hospital this morning and then, just gone. All time great and I fully expected him to be an all time great owner for the next 40 years. Now we lost a great one and more importantly a family and two little kids lost a dad. I wasn’t old enough to fully comprehend when Dale was lost, but I can’t imagine it felt much worse than this. KB was a hero and a villain. I feel like the last of an era. Talented beyond belief and unapologetically himself. I loved to hate him but you couldn’t help but respect him and especially the guy he grew into after becoming a dad. Just, I don’t know, it hurts more than I think it should. Actually thought of Lifer when I heard the news. I remember him telling me about meeting kyle when he got locked out of his house for pissing his wife off.
I liked Kyle more than his brother Kurt, but yeah, he definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Much like Dale Sr, I did not care for him either ,but both losses are tough.
Hope they have a ‘room’ the size of an auditorium.
Interestingly, we had 11 IDL on the roster last year. They might have decided this year, “Eight is Enough”.
A very young group….
Assuming banks foot amputation goes well it will probably be him the fat fruit and Redmond, I’m sure they’ll rotate a fair amount as well, Rodriguez was ok last year and they say they like Dawkins
I thought both LDR & TID both showed flashes last year – especially in stopping the run. A few flash plays from both to think they have some potential iirc….
They’ll both get some run, hopefully they keep improving, bunch of yutes at this point
Better than 99, I guess.
Every little bit helps.
At least that is what ‘she’ tells me.
I shouldn’t do this but I can’t help myself.
Come on Edge. If you are going to roast a few people that have made comments like this, then you have to roast Gone fishin’ too, correct?
Picture of the Falcon 9 rocket that launched this morning that I took while Costco

Cool.
My daughter and I like to shoot rockets, she painted hers teal and green, super fun except when they get caught in a tree
So i have to admit i was wrong. In conversations last week about NFL schedule i stated it is rare to start the season with 2 road games. Well this season 5 teams do that. I guess it is not that rare.
I swear i could do a better, and fairer job at building the schedule
‘So i have to admit i was wrong’
Maybe you didn’t get the memo but we don’t do that here.
#sarcasm
As long as my wife was not around, i can admit it
Jealous of the Jefferson camp. I was going to try and get my kids to it, but the timing didn’t work with school and all. Instead I got my oldest signed up for one of the Twins camps in the middle of June and my youngest gets to go to a football camp here in Billings with Billings native and national championship hero Taco Dowler.
Kind of like naming your kid Buckwheat…..
The Twins camp will be fun for sure.
But I bet the camp in Billings is a blast. That’s a good program up there.
😂 😂 😂
@I cannot believe a politician would use such dangerous rhetoric.@
😂 😂 😂
The Declaration is not in any way US Law so its placement in relationship to God is a personnel choice.
In the Declaration I believe Jefferson was making the distinction to imply our rights did not come the “King” (at that time.) Similarly, carrying that thought forward, those same rights do not come from government either.
The point of the MS Now clip, is that the TV people are somehow confused that the Speaker would say something like this, and just ignore that he is quoting/referencing the Declaration of Independence. One of the founding documents of the nation.
The Founding Fathers actually used GOD to define this country.
Abe Lincoln spoke about GOD all of the time.
His speeches are on the walls of the Lincoln Memorial.
The very location that these media people are complaining about the event and the audacity that the Speaker would speak about GOD.
Trump references God a lot too. But they just add that to the long list of all the other things they hate him for.
Exactly. They were asking if he was putting God above the Declaration.
Hey lady, God was the basis for the Declaration.
Yes, but why is that relevant here?
I put God above our Declaration, but i believe one supports the other
Yes, indeed. Sadly your motivation is different than the lady in that video
Lot of strange outrage from the Democrat crowd.
Franklin Roosevelt, one of the greatest Presidents ever, and huge Democratic Icon, perhaps used God in most all of his speeches more than any other Presidents.
That was back when “one nation, under God, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all” actually meant something.
Yea, that’s when we won world wars and citizens where willing to sacrifice to do so.
Burger King for lunch today.
Nasty – their foods is sub par even by fast food standards.
I ate at a BK a few days ago in a town about an hour from my location only because I was passing through. It was the dirtiest fast food restaurant I’ve ever been in. The floor was sticky, tables were not wiped off and the condiment/soda machine area was nasty. I understand places like this are understaffed these days, but I couldn’t believe that a place that serves food can stay opened when this bad.
I haven’t set foot inside a fast food resturant in over a year. Drive through only if I have the choice. Only reason I went in was because I was driving my parents on a long road trip and they wanted to get out and stretch their legs.
I usually don’t do fast food, would rather do bar and grill type of thing, but time didn’t allow for it. I will never go back to this particular one.
I hadn’t been to a BK in years but a few months ago my wife and I were on a quick road trip and decided to stop for lunch. We got items off the value menu or whatever BK calls it, so I got a Whopper Jr. I didn’t remember them being so small. It was more of a Whopper Tiny.
Same for me – exception my birthday I hit Culver’s for a burger and fries.
and I lived off fast food for a long, long time.
huge reason I tipped the scales at close to 5 bills….
now the idea of 99% of fast food just grosses me out.
I prefer Culver’s over any other “faster” food joint.
I loved their ‘2 Whoppers for $5’ deals back in the day.
I would stop on the to work and eat one for lunch and save the other for dinner.
Ever have their Bullseye BBQ Bacon Burger? I think that promotion was back in the ’80s or ’90s
MAN! Nailed it.
“Burger King sold the original Bull’s-Eye BBQ Burger from 1987 to circa 1992. It was a heavily advertised Western-style sandwich made with two burger patties, American cheese, bacon, and Bull’s-Eye brand barbecue sauce served on an elongated roll.”
Unfortunately I was overseas in a couple different locations at that time, so never had the pleasure.
6’7″ veteran from Wisconsin who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
They seem to be signing a bunch of ‘prospects’ lately.
I assume they are not in anyway guaranteed and so doesn’t effect the cap in anyway.
Plus I doubt any of these signings are large enough to make the Top 53 which is what the Salary Cap tracks.
Yeah, not sure if they think he’s a somebody, or just some body.
Related to Kirk Loudermilk, former Colt?
I thought about that too. Dunno.
Also former Viking…
That’s what I thought, but wasn’t 100% on that.
Negative. Different spelling of last name.
Good catch!
Now, get more strikeouts!
Good catch. Rats, DE beat me to it.
All you heathen are saved.
Was reading this morning you can go to California, sign up for medicaid, and get a fully paid exorcism.
I didn’t know that the Catholic Church charged for exorcisms.
Maybe they just want to be able to charge the state and pocket the money.
That is a very Dim thing to do in Commifornia.
Good to know… thanks for sharing!
Time for NFL records to come with an asterisk…
Not surprised at all. Likely pushes the preseason to 2 games, a 2nd bye week, additions to the rosters and makes Super Bowl Weekend around Presidents’ Day
Tons of ‘records’ about to fall.
RB’s would be able to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark, averaging 56 yards a game.
Yep. I think you’ll see teams eventually put more of a premium on RB depth because of this. They already do – but the extra workload will necessitate most teams to utilize at least 2 – if not 3 or 4.
This is assuming the roster limits will increase – shelf life of an RB is so limited. True unicorns that produce after 30, especially in an every down role and not situational play like what Marcus Allen was for KC late in his career. Derrick Henry looks good so far – but the drop is coming, or should be.
I remember when there were only 12 games way back in the day.
The goals just need to change.
2,000 yards a year should now be the standard achievement milestone, rather than 1,000 yards.
“Records were made to be broken”
But then players are more fragile nowadays.
They must be Italian.
So, yeah. I remember 12 game seasons too. But that was before 1935, so not many folks would. Good on ya. Went from 14 to 16 in 1978, and 17 games in 2021 of course. Personally I thought the 16 game season was plenty.
I thought 16 should have been the max after they moved up from 14. It was ridiculous that they once had 6 pre-season games.
Yeah, 6 pre-season games was over the top for sure. The NFL did that from 1970 to 1977, then when they went to 16 games in 1978, they cut two pre-season games.
Agreed. If 1K in 17 games was the bar the new standard should be 12-1300
Elite production considerations would dictate at least 1800 yds imo. 2K is still an achievement given the greater risk of injury with the increase in workload – it’s averaging over 100 yds a game rushing, not an easy feat.
The NFL needed more money, poor things. More proof that $$$ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> player safety to the NFL.
Wow that guy in the video above. “Im a disabled vet, im gonna sue you” Yeah those make sense, as well as give you the right to beat your wife. Guy should get the shit beat out of him and thrown in a cell.
”……he shit himself….’
Of course he did, he’s was drunk off his ass and was getting man handled and throwing an adult tantrum.
My God, what law enforcement officers have to put up with!
A least the Woke/Libs/Dims are looking out for them and offering constructive criticism.
*Is Sarcasm Font needed for this post??
Yes it is!!! I was all ready to roast this take and post a 5 paragraph rant on why you are wrong and should be kicked off this site! (* This is also sarcasm. Just in case.)
I wondered.
I was preparing my own 5 paragraph response to rebut your 5 paragraph rebuttal so that I can win and prove to you that I have lots of words too.
(sarcasm alert)
Yet there is an irony about your thought as the Dems/Libs do “claim” to be looking out for them and making the whole situation better.
‘Dems/Libs do “claim”’
Yeah they lie about most stuff that they talk about.
Yup.
totally agree with GF’s assessment. I could not be a cop.
if I’m the responding officer I empty my clip into his belly and roll him into the water.
Sure looks like he would make good gator food.
Have you heard about the massive cholesterol problem among gators?
I second that…
Yup, dudes a waste of oxygen and sadly theres a lot more like that everywhere. Just shitty human beings that are too far gone.
Not exactly in stellar shape, either. I thought he might be pregnant.
They are certainly doing an extensive dog and pony show to announce Brez as the GM.
The Bills have ‘won the draft’ multiple times supposedly.
That would be a good get IMHO.
Rob would be a safe hire, giving the HC, OC, DC more input on players which might not be a bad thing.
I think they should hire me, mostly because I’d love the salary. Even if I only lasted a year, I could easily retire & do a LOT more fishing for the remainder of my time on earth.
Let’s hope Banks is devoting as much time, detail and attention to his foot as this piece of Jewelry.
Given that The Bank is his teams home stadium I will allow it.
I hope two things. First, I hope his foot issues aren’t chronic, or something that will end his career early. Second, I hope he has a credible wealth management advisor helping him put most of his money into investments that will set him up for life after his playing career is over.
Amen to that.
Invest wisely young man
Isn’t gold a good investment?
Gold yes, jewelry like that, not as much, unless he becomes famous, and it’s tied to his name.
UN Climate Panel Quietly Admits Its Doomsday Climate Scenarios Were ‘Implausible’ – How much money has been spent on Net Zero because of lies?
Argued with my Nephews about the Climate Change/Global Warming BS that they were taught in HS. I got to send them a text yesterday about this UN announcement.
No reply back yet.
#grin
I think there have been more than a few discussions here about it. Scientists come up with a hypothesis, then go about trying to find data that proves it.
In the mid 1800’s, Scientists like John Tyndall and Svante Arrhenius began to study and understand the greenhouse effect and its implications for Earth’s climate.
A hundred years later, in the 1950s research on carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere began, revealing a significant increase due to human activities.
In 1970 the first Earth Day is celebrated, raising public awareness about environmental issues, including climate change.
Eventually liberals around the globe recognize the financial and political treasure trove climate fear produces. It drives this mania like a freight train day and night for 45 years.
Now the world is seeing this was nothing more than a sophisticated scientific fear mongering campaign for political gain.
The Nephews were parroting what they were told by their liberal/woke teachers. When we explained ‘logic’ to them they doubled down so we mocked them for it.
It was loads of fun and now, Bonus, we get proven right…. Again. #grin
“Boy, I say boy, pay attention when I’m talkin to ya”.
The older one actually thanked me for discussing politics with him while growing up.
He said none of his friends parents did that with them and so they have no idea about what is going on.
In Commifornia there is no reason to talk politics because of the ‘groupthink’ everyone ‘knows’ the right answers.
Also don’t forget about the “Global cooling crisis” in the 70’s. It was based on pure conjecture of imminent cooling of the Earth. This resulted in a hypothesis we were going through a period of extensive glaciation due to the cooling effects of aerosols in the atmosphere. Some press reports in the 70s highlighted this speculation about continued cooling, stoking climate fears. Politicians and environmental alarmists went off the rails claiming the next ice age was upon us. And of course garnered power from the climate fear they helped create.
Eagles OLB Nolan Smith, 25, was arrested in Twiggs County, Georgia on May 15 for reckless driving and speeding in excess of limits after being clocked at 135-137 mph in a 70 mph zone.
Smith is a first-round 2023 draft pick. He was booked into the county jail but posted bond and was released. This is his second known speeding citation.
So other teams have idiots to??
Good to know.
I heard he was attending the Jordan Addison life skills classes.
FTP!!
That is all for now.
Hard work there GF. Admire that. Yeah, I probably don’t need to see the toilet.
It’s Thorsday and my wife is at the gym. I’m on my second cup of coffee, and the cats are sleeping on the couch next to me. It’s all quiet and peaceful on the home front.
Got Wordle in two today.
This project is a beast. This is only phase one. Once the foreclosure is finalized, I have to empty the stuff out of the garage & house. I’ve hauled 35 cubic yards of debris, my dump receipts total nearly 8,000 pounds, and that’s just what was in the driveway & yard. Absolutely crazy. I met the neighbors today, they were very appreciative that we cleaned it up.
Video of Northwoods pitching in his son’s little league baseball games.
Stupid bird.
Guess it FAFO.
LOVE IT!!
I tallied 5 more Ks last night, including my own kid.
You’re unstoppable!
If I was pitching to my kid, I would probably try to hit him.
Especially if he was crowding the plate.
Last night, my son told me if the tickets to the draft in 2028 are free, he’ll get that for my birthday. He and a friend of his are planning on attending.
Generous to a fault.
As parents, it’s interesting to sit back and watch your kids live and learn.
I hope he finds you free tickets.
He also told me I could drive and pay for the meals.
Kids are great.

Words and pictures above, I have seen the toilet 🤮
