Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics to a minimum. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be respectful and civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument, not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW language/pictures to a minimum. We don’t want anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- To summarize, behave like adults. Treat each other with respect, and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something, please do. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here, just be civil.
- Twitter sized version: Be cool to one another.
Looks like a few more hires in the Front Office for the Vikings.
New GM getting some things done.
Hope it works out.
I wonder if he can evaluate QB talent?
He can evaluate QBs, just about anyone can, even me.
The question is more ‘can he evaluate them well/accurately’.
KAM evidently couldn’t.
Rick says hello
What’s Up Slick.
I’m glad I was wrong about the Wilfs hiring Brez as the GM.
Draft room needed a makeover.
Just a reminder since it is holy Tuesday. Just a WR breaking open in the seam, not even looking at him, staring down the guy clearly covered behind the sticks on a make or break play for play off dreams. #NeverForget.
Not to be provocative because we’ve been getting along well, but a screenshot hardly shows the full story here. Additionally, you cannot look everywhere at once. That being said, I believe he should have thrown the ball beyond the sticks (as most other people do), instead of a short pass and hoping for a broken tackle (or forgetting where the first down on the field was).
All of you old timers will remember this.
Burned half of my mouth as a kid on this.
Brings back memories.
I remember burning my mouth on one of those.
It somehow made the pie thingie taste even better.
Weird I know.
Loved those. Wonder what the new price will be.
I remember my father coming home once with one of those 5 quart kemps vanilla ice cream buckets, and a bag from McDonalds with a dozen of those pies that were still warm.
He was late for my sisters birthday, but that made it ok. Apple pies and ice cream was a decent dinner.
Would be much better tasting if fried in Tallow like the old days vs vegetable oil.
Still…..
Good point!
Which is better: strawberry jelly or grape jelly?
Why does it have to be Jelly?? Jam and Preserves are much more good-er.
If it is just about which fruit, Strawberry over Grape but Peach rules them all.
‘Jelly is made exclusively from strained fruit juice, jam from crushed or mashed fruit, and preserves contain large chunks or whole fruits’
I prefer jam, but I was more curious about people’s flavor preferences.
Strawberry is my preference btw. I know people often prefer grape for PB&J’s, but I like strawberry.
I’m probably choosing grape over strawberry.
But as long as it is real strawberries, it’s good.
I vehemently dislike strawberry and watermelon flavored stuff.
That sh*t doesn’t even taste real.
Rea Fruit over Chemicals is the absolute correct answer.
This is me with Chocolate. I enjoy a chocolate bar, chocolate chips in things, etc. but I do not like chocolate flavored things. Like cake, etc.
I am about to make Mulberry preserves. I usually do half just mulberry and half mulberry/jalepeno.
Never had it, but sounds good!
I have 5 mulberry trees in my yard. It’s either I eat them or the dear, squirrels and raccoons eat them.
I did just start a strawberry patch along with blueberry, raspberry and blackberry bushes this year. So I am hoping in the next couple of years they will start producing enough to have a variety.
Is Mulberry kind of like Huckleberry?
Huckleberry is kind of big around here.
Grape for PB&J for me but strawberries are my favorite fruit over all so…hmmm
A lot of people have that preference. On a sidenote, I didn’t realize the NFL players ate so many uncrustables lol. (80,000 per season apparently, but they now have a new brand)
Yeah! I forgot what season of hard knocks covered one of the teams trainers for an episode but they were basically giving them uncrustables every 15 minutes, before, during and post work outs lol. There a “relatively” cheap and easy way to get some carbs and protein in your body that actually tastes good too, and some sugar I guess for energy. They arent bad for you if you are an athlete and work out 24/7 ha
Strawberry jam.
Strawberry for Jam.
Grape for Jelly.
This was already decided for us, since Goober mixed grape jelly and PB in the same jar for us.
I know they now also have strawberry jelly, but grape is better in that case and was the original..
Strawberry
Looking like a slow day here again.
The Dog Days of Summer indeed.
Just finished up enptying the dishwasher and cleaning up the kitchen while The Teacher had her ‘brunch’ and checked her e-mails, and catching up on online news.
I try to leave her a clean kitchen after my 3 days of dinners when I turn the duties over to her for 3 days.
I told her ‘The Kitchen is all ready for your ‘culinary masterpieces’ now that my ‘culinary shenanigans’ are done. # grin
MT style story coming up.
So I was doing my power walk around the gym/rec center last week. About 20-22 Pre-teen kids were playing dodgeball on the BB Court in the center. About 1/2 way around I heard the kids start chanting ‘Can’t Do That!!’ over and over again. As I came around to the part of the track that directly overlooks the BB Court I realized it was just the girls chanting.
The staff, older teens, were trying to quiet the girls down but they were not having it and kept chanting ‘Can’t Do That!!’. They kept it up while I walked another 3 min loop and when I came around again they were talking to one of the pre-teen boys.
They sent him off the court to sit down and the girls stopped chanting and the game resumed. I don’t know if they thought he was overly aggressive, bullying or cheating but they were not putting up with it.
Upon further review I figure it was a good thing. They brought attention to what they saw as a problem ad stuck together until it was resolved. I have never seen them do that before or since. I don’t know if they were taught to do that or if they came up with it on their own. I thought if I had a young daughter I would want her to have a way to address perceived issues like that. And all of the girls stuck together until the problem was solved.
Was wondering what you guys thought on here, is it just another form of bullying by the girls? A way to pressure the staff to do what they want? Or an effective way of dealing with an issue like that.
Sounds like future cancel culture liberals if you ask me.
I’d rather teach the kids to address things calmly and maturely and not in a “mob rule” style tactic.
I agree.
Well it is Idaho so not a lot of ‘liberals’ around.
Plus how else do young girls get the attention of ‘older teens’ to get them to address the issue?
Not a ‘mob’ IMHO just a group of girls that identified a problem and wanted it to be addressed. They didn’t cheer once the staff decided the young man needed to be sat down, they just stopped chanting and the game continued.
I see your point, which is why I spent almost a week thinking it thru before bringing it up here to see if there was a consensus.
Wasn’t there, so I couldn’t get a first-person feel for the whole thing. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I would think older teens would still care if a little girl asked for help against a bully. Not sure what older teens are like these days, but that’s what I’d do back in the day if a little girl asked me for help.
All that said, they’re little kids, so I’m sure it’ll be fine and not remembered a few months from now.
From what I have seen the ‘older teens/staff’ for the youth groups are pretty good overall. But there is a tendency to focus on group, accounting for them, and keeping things organized rather than side issues.
If the girls thought the issue was being ignored their options were to let it be and put up with it or raise awareness.
I suspect they pointed out the problem, it was ignored, and when it happened again they took more drastic action.
I could see that.
Since I have never seen it before I figure it was an issue they felt strongly about.
All the kids seem pretty good, impressive really. But we all know ‘boys will be boys’ and that does not always work when playing with girls.
Very true.
Maybe crazy, but what if the girls were bullying the boy?
‘is it just another form of bullying by the girls?’
I think I offered that option in my post.
Yep, and I think that could be what happened. or, the boy cheated and did not want to sit out.
Either way, I would find something else to do.
Well they are signed up by their parents for ‘Summer Program/Camp’. Not sure how much choice they have for participating in the activities or not.
Sooooo much content, don’t know where I should start.
Maybe start by adding some content??
Radical idea I know. #grin
Am I the only one that is allowed to add content. I have been giving my hawtest of hawt taeks the last couple weeks. My shoulders are tired from carrying everyone.
I have been there a time or six.
I might post 3 or 4 stories in a row, always with links, and one might be responded to.
You never know what will spark a reaction.
Added the new thread from my phone. Old man things. Plus, I’m just adding daily threads when the real Admin types are busy
I feel like we say this every year during the summer.
That and I’ve been frequenting this site less due to the immature fighting I’ve noticed lately. I deal with that enough in the day to day.
A wise comment and thoughtful guidance.
I try to ignore it for the most part which is pretty easy since I don’t care about a lot of the issues they argue about.
Occasionally I try to point out the illogical and that works sometimes but other times ‘someone’ will dig their heels in and just keep ‘doubling down’. At that point I find something less frustrating to focus on.
That’s usually me.
I have done that a time or 12 myself.
Especially when arguing against Woke/Teen/Female/Drunk/5 logic.
There has been zero immature fighting the last 4 to 5 days.
Good to know
Correct.
There is a common denominator.
Kid is like 2/3rds leg.
Looks awkward.
Most of my family is built this way, so it seems normal to me.
I assume as they mature it looks a little less awkward.
I have one brother that is build similarly now that I think about it.
Once we started to fill out it didn’t seem so weird.
The cowboy boots don’t help either. Probably add another 2″ of leg length.
Happy Tuesday,
Skol
