Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
I hope everyone is having an enjoyable week. I love this time of year when winter is finally out the door, and spring is just beginning. It’s time for baseball, open water fishing, getting the bikes out, changing oil in the summer machines, etc. I love it.
For those of you who weren’t aware, Justin Jefferson is having his annual youth football camp in Minneapolis on May 30th. We went last year, and it was a blast, we’re going again this year. I got in early this year, so was able to buy the MVP package for kiddo, so he’ll get more one-on-one time with J.J., and some other perks that you don’t get otherwise.
There’s another youth camp in Fargo that is being led by T.J. Hockenson, and that camp is on May 24th. I thought I’d mention it because I haven’t seen much advertising/marketing, and I know many of you live in or near the Dakotas, and may want to check it out. I’m not sure what to expect with the Hockenson camp, this’ll be the first time we’ve attended. I know it was about 1/3 the price of the Justin Jefferson camp.
Vikings & NFL News
At the Star-Tribune, Mark Craig isn’t a big fan of the Banks pick in the first round by Minnesota.
The Vikings have officially exercised the fifth-year option on Jordan Addison’s rookie contract, per Fox Sports. I’m curious to know Addison’s pay expectations. If he’s going to leave next year for a bigger payday, then the Vikings should trade him now while they can get something.
USA Today fills you in on all the info surrounding the NFL 2026 schedule release.
Mike Tomlin shed some light on all that led up to his departure from Pittsburgh after a LONG stint as the team’s head coach.
Yahoo Sports shows us the Super Bowl betting odds for each of the 32 NFL teams. They have the Vikings as 50:1 odds to win it all. I’m not 100%, but I think that means if you put $1,000 on the Vikings winning the Super Bowl, and they did, then you’d get $50,000. My gambling knowledge is limited, so please correct me if I’m incorrect.

I’m kinda nerdy, I found this interesting. I want to go see the Mayan ruins, I think that would be a fascinating experience. Imagine being the dude who discovered them, this discovery forced the mainstream to admit that their “established” version of world history was wrong. They won’t do that until they’re forced to, you see that in many corners of “intellectual” society. We humans know far less than we think we do.

Saw a report online that the Vikings are trying to work out the money on a multi year deal with Jennings. Could make our offense really, really dangerous.
Fun fact:
Our new fullback, Max Bredeson, did not have a single rushing attempt in college. Not one.
He caught 12 balls.
Mad Max loves contact.
I didn’t know that. Guess he was a true blocking back.
I saw some online posts proclaiming McCarthy is now “fixed” because he was seen throwing passes without his back foot coming off the ground. I have to wonder about a QB who gets to the NFL and in his third year, has to be taught how to throw a football correctly. Maybe he’ll be better. One can only hope at this point.
It’s Wednesday… and I was expecting some of the standard hump day celebratory images here. Hmmmm…
The Wild win?? Take a 3-2 lead in the series vs Dallas??
Yes! and Yes!!
Two more games to blow it!
Our new GM on the way??
Filthadelpia has reported that their Assistant General Manager is ‘leaving the team’. Headed to Murderapolis???

Guy has 17 years in the league, working under Howie. One would think he has learned a thing or two.
Guess he is stepping down to to pursue other football related activities’.
Did he date Russini too?
One would hope that he has better taste than that.
One of the many reasons I don’t drink.
I think she’s doing more than Vrabel.
Rumor with Sean Payton out there.
Why would he resign before be named to the new position?
This is why we never pay attention to pundits…
They don’t even try to be right/correct any more.
They just want to be outrageous enough to be interesting and get more clicks.
‘More clicks’ gets them more money, being right doesn’t.
Salient point.
Glad that we are not that desperate….. This year.
We were last year and may be again next year.
But this year we are not, thankfully.
Our team has some issues, but at least we are not the

Anyone heard anything on who the Vikings are interviewing for their vacant GM position now that the draft is over?
I have only heard of our acting GM and Denvers GM as speculation. And reportedly Paton is not interested in coming back.
Interviewing?
Not sure.
These are some names being floated.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Raiders aren’t exactly where I’d be looking for any talent.
Agreed
Are they required to do a DEI interview?
My WAG is that Brzezinski gets the gig.
Don’t think Rooney Rule applies.
The 49ers and Jennings parted ways because he wanted more money than the team wanted to invest in him. He’s looking for a $22.6M a year contract. If the Vikings paid him that, their 3 WR’s next year would be costing them around $99M after we just signed Addison to his 5th year option.
We’ll also have to invest money in a QB next year, so…
He won’t get that from the Vikings.
Vikings don’t have to invest anything in a QB next year.
The Vikings have plenty of cap space in 2027 BTW.
Wentz and Murray are on one year deals, and McCarthy and Brosmer are the other two QB’s on the roster. Yeah… we DO have to invest in a QB next year and probably a backup too.
How bout this??? McCarthy proves everyone wrong and ends up being a starter and has a stellar year, he is on his rookie deal so costs us nothing…..Wentz plays for next to nothing, he is just happy to be wearing purple…..we let midget QB walk….
Problem solved, we don’t have to invest in any QBs next year.
McCarthy will cost us $7M next year, so it’s not nothing, but it’s not significant. If he plays lights out this year, he’ll want a big contract in 2027… a 3 or 4 year deal. He’ll want starting QB money. He’ll be looking for $250M or more. So that math has to be figured in, don’t you think?
But that’s already INCLUDED.
So the available cap in 2027 isn’t affected by McCarthy.
The Vikings are NOT in cap hell in 2027.
Those are the facts.
Who said they were?
And no, if McCarthy demands a new deal in 2027, that money isn’t included.
LOL.
McCarthy isn’t getting a new deal.
He is under the rookie CBA slots of contracts.
The Vikings have the option after 2027 to use the 5th year option.
McCarthy is under contract to the Vikings through 2028 if the Vikings keep him.
Sorry, the CBA allows Rookie contracts to be renegotiated after three years. So yes, McCarthy could demand a new contract, and refuse to sign his 5th year option.
Yeah, but he is no position to demand anything.
And the Vikings can say no, and he can’t do anything about it.
This discussion is based on the hypothetical that McCarthy suddenly shows promise as a starter, so there’s some theorizing going on here. If McCarthy plays well this year, he could fight for new contract in 2027. That is allowed under CBA. To state under these circumstances he is in no position to demand anything isn’t quite correct. Fans would be pushing for him to be re-signed. He could always sit out the season too. So he isn’t without leverage. Then, let’s say the Vikings decide, OK, we’re not going to play your stupid game. We’ll just cut you and move on. Move on to who? And how much will that cost?
Yes, he can demand, but i see no way we accomodate him
Exactly.
It’s really just a silly take by NLNVF
If he has a great year, Vikings may want to see him have a good year #4, but they will exercise the year 5 option, so i think we are a few years from “big contract”
Also our cap space is about $71M right now for 2027, but we only have 33 players under contract at the moment. That means we’re 20 players short of a roster.
If we sign Jennings, that $71M drops to $48.4M, and we still need 19 more players.
You do this same song and dance every off season when it comes to the cap and multiple posters ( not just me) always tell you the team will make it work. A lot has to transpire yet before decisions are made at QB and any other position that may or may NOT be of need in 2027. How about we just enjoy 2026 and let it play out huh instead of pondering about something that really does not matter at this juncture.
I just post the facts. This year we “made it work” by letting three starting defensive players go (Hargrave, Allen, and Greenard) and Nailor left too. Next year we’ll make it work too. We have to sign O’Neill or let him walk. We need a starting QB and backup QB, and we need several more guys to fill out the roster.
Them’s the facts son. That’s reality. I live in the real world, not la la land.
And those QBs and guys MAY already be on the roster is my point. You dont know, I dont know. Those are the only facts. No ones arguing the moves that were made this year. You do live in la la land when it comes to being a empathetic, coherent and humble human being. That’s for damn sure. Get a clue. Goddamn.
Laughing… “may” is a hope word. Hope is not a plan son. Pretend away… theorize all you like. It doesn’t actually change reality. I know today what the facts are. That is all I have stated. You are upset I stated reality, and BTW, reality doesn’t care about empathy, but it’s damn well coherent, and this discussion has nothing to do with me as a human being.
Wonder what an extension of Potato would get us?
Jennings will be 29 in July so a two or three year deal at best??
Seems like it would be an ‘all in/win now’ type of move.
Jennings went through a few one year deals with the Niners. He likely doesn’t want to do that again. O’Neill’s contract is up after this season. Right now he counts nothing against the 2027 cap. He will have to be signed, or let go next year. I doubt he’ll agree to an extension.
As long as it is not “Kirko” money
Don’t worry… we couldn’t afford him.
Hee hee hee…
Hmmmm…
I fear he’s going to want more then he’s worth to be our WR3. He could be another teams WR2 or even WR1 (Raiders, Dolphins). But im glad he’s visiting at least.
Right, but who knows… Maybe a one year deal and takes a little less? A boy can dream.
I think he’ll want to much too.
but he’s the top FA WR imo.
clutch catches, dog mentality
Im down to sign him for a year or two at a cost that is fair for both sides. WE SHALL SEE!
What should the Vikings spend?
Latest cap space is about $16 million, with $4 million still on the books for Hitman.
$10 million probably wouldn’t be enough for JJ #3 to be in Minny.
I was gonna say, less then $10 million a year for wr3. Theres a reason they got rid of Nailor, $$$.
Looks like Nailor got $35 million over 3 years, with $24 million guaranteed over two years.
I’d say Jennings is worth more than that.
I’d sign him for $12 million one year deal.
The 90 man roster is mostly set.
They drafted defense so there shouldn’t be any need for money spent on that side of the ball.
Likely won’t happen though.
That would be nice. Hopefully something can be worked out, not probable but he wouldn’t be coming in for a visit if there was ‘no chance’.
Violence is an artificial construct? OK… we need to face up to these people. They cannot be in charge.
No common sense.
Not sure if over educated or just parroting academic talking points for political gains.
I think it’s more nefarious than that.
^this
If he really feels that violence is an artificial construct, maybe he is willing to get into a room with the families of the victims of some of these people he wants to release.
NY needs this guy…
I wonder if there will be a recall election to stop the madness in NYC?
Doubt it, NYC voted for this guy and are ‘all in on stupid’.
They are not about to admit defeat any time soon.
Besides are the smart/logical people are leaving so only the Lefty Loons are still there.
whoa! i got NLNVF and kfey to AGREE on something!
no wonder my christian name means peacemaker. i bring everyone together.
Your name is Solomon?
yes, and i was thinking we may need to cut those two in half for peace.
I’m on board with cutting them in half.
Ehhh, debatable <3
Zoolander is so stupid but its my kinda stupid, so many great bits in that movie.

“Just because we have chiselled abs and stunning features, it doesn’t mean that we too can’t not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.”
So many good lines from that movie. “What is this? A school for ants? It would have to be at least….. 3 times that big!”
“…Derrick it’s just a Model.”
I think I have the black lung…**cough cough**
A careful read of Matthew 7 might also help.

Freezeyface means peacemaker? I did not know that! lol
My computer font issue “healed” itself overnight. I was relieved to see your posts no longer looked like jib jab, only to realize that they are jib jab in reality. Unlike my posts, which are masterful.
That Checks Out.
Jib Jab; a language usually used when a person is intoxocated, talkin trash, or just has no idea what he or she is talking about.
Report updates if Raiders are serious about Cousins, Mendoza decision | Yardbarker
Cousins to start week 1 for Raiders…
I am pretty confident the Raiders will have a better week 1 starting QB than the Vikings will.
I am confident the Vikings will sneak into the play offs in 2026 and the Raiders will not.
I would be inclined to agree with you.
As expected.
Did you really expect Mendoza to start week 1 when they have a 14 year veteran on the roster?
i’m really looking forward to a year with Darrisaw starting off healthy vs that super annoying on a game off a game thing.
our version of mr glass on the offensive line
I agree, and something some people don’t know. When Eli Manning and the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2008, his O-line had started the same five guys every game for three years. Talk about consistency. That was really crazy to me.
Yup, how he starts the year will tell a lot with how they handled his injury last season. He was never 100% even when he was playing.
So the Vikings may have drafted Gink’s and Darrisaw’s replacements?
https://thevikingage.com/minnesota-vikings-send-message-4-players-2026-nfl-draft-moves
Teams have to cycle through players continuously to maintain a balance between fiscal limitations and on field production. Sooner or later it happens.
Brian O’Neill is currently the highest cap player on the roster for 2026 and is a UFA in 2027.
Gink also has void years starting in 2027, and is also an UFA for 2027.
Drafting them makes sense from the Vikings perspective.

That time when Roseanne Barr tweeted something rude about Valerie Jarrett…
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” said Channing Dungey, the president of ABC Entertainment, in a statement.
My, how times have changed.
Every time the White House mentions this guy, it just juices his ratings. Ignore him and let him wither on the vine.
Bad ratings don’t mean much for Network Television anymore.
But I agree that Trump shouldn’t say much about firing people.
Just joke about Kimmel being paid to be an idiot or something.
You can do the same thing with both sides. Neither stands on principals. Should we go back and see what right wing media people had to say about Clinton cheating on his wife and then go see what they have to say about Trump and all his affairs, multiple wives and having no issue with any of that but flamed Clinton for lesser?… In either case I don’t care, what you do in your bedroom (to a certain degree obviously) and what you do as a leader are two separate things. I don’t care. Personal and professional lives are different things. Kimmel is a turd who cares what he has to say. BUT don’t pretend you actually care about flip flopping of people’s stances on things when it’s clear you only care about one sides flip flopping on things. That just proves you don’t actually care about the flip and or flopping. I know I used a dated example with Clinton but there are endless versions of this on both sides.
Does Kirko go to Reno on Tuesdays now?
The holiest (and fakest) place in NV! He will fit right in.
