Vikings & NFL News

From Yardbarker, K Will Reichard will be an expensive player to extend once his rookie deal is over. I’d rather have that problem than having the problem of not having a kicker upon which you can’t rely to make a kick.

Demond Claiborne is excited to grow from his rural roots into his role with the Vikings, per Vikings.com. I’ll always root for the rural folks.

Ruh-roh Raggy, LB Scooby Williams did NOT sign with the Vikings due to an issue with his physical, per Sports Illustrated. This doesn’t surprise me, neither Scooby nor Shaggy do a very good job of watching their diet.

Keep up with the latest NFL schedule leaks, courtesy of The Sporting News.

Another schedule leak tracker from CBS Sports. Good grief, the NFL will resort to anything for a little attention, what a bunch of whores.

CBS Sports shares what they’ve learned from each team’s rookie minicamp.

I haven’t watched this one yet, but it looks interesting, it’s in my “watch later” queue.

I dont watch a lot of NHL, but i do tune in the playoffs. Colorado was the better team. Not sure if that helps with your sadness. If it does not, consider this: the Vikings are undefeated so far this year

As GOD as my witness:

Before I even checked into the game starting, I said Wild need to be up 3-0 early.
I didn’t watch the game at all.

I checked ESPN and sure enough, 3-0 Wild midway through the first.

I checked in again later. Still 3-0 Wild midway through the 2nd.

Thought to myself, Colorado wins 5-4 in OT or something.
Went to bed.

Got up to check the score.
4-3 Colorado in OT.

As GOD as my witness.

In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won approximately 85% of U.S. counties. This translates to 2,661 counties out of a total of 3,112, compared to 451 counties won by Kamala Harris. Yet Harris said it was the closest race ever, or something to that effect. When one side has to win 85% of the counties in the country to have a chance to win, it’s a little unsettling. BTW, Trump won 45 of 58 counties in California. He won in over 77% of the state, and didn’t win the state.

I have never heard what metric she was using to validate her claim.
I suspect it is because it was so ludicrous that she would be mocked endlessly for it.
Better to make a baseless claim then to over a worthless argument I guess.

Yeah I am sure you stand on real principled worries here. I am 1000% sure you actually have an issue with a politician lying about numbers and how things really were when they instead blatantly lied to make them look better huh?

Specific False Claims

  • In-Person Attendance: Trump claimed that the crowd “looked like a million, a million and a half people” and stretched all the way to the Washington Monument.
  • “Largest Ever” Assertion: Former Press Secretary Sean Spicer stated it was the “largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe”.
  • Subway Ridership: Spicer used misleading figures to suggest higher ridership for Trump’s inauguration compared to previous ones.

Infrastructure Deception: The administration claimed that new white floor coverings on the grass created the illusion of empty space, despite similar coverings being used in 2013.

The Facts

  • Visual Evidence: Side-by-side aerial photographs and live video showed significant empty spaces on the National Mall that were not present during Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
  • Expert Estimates: Crowd scientists and independent analyses estimated the turnout at roughly 300,000 to 600,000 people. For comparison, Obama’s 2009 inauguration drew an estimated 1.8 million.
  • TV Viewership: According to Nielsen ratings, 30.6 million people watched Trump’s inauguration on TV, fewer than the 37.8 million who watched in 2009.
  • Park Service Pressure: Reports later revealed that Trump personally called the National Park Service’s acting director to request photos that would support his claims of a larger crowd.

She’s a shit turd politician that would absolutely vote Trump over her, but quit pretending you care about this while also supporting Trump who is the KING of this kind of thing.

Wasn’t his real point about a candidate having to win 85% of the counties to get elected, and this was found “unsettling.?

Yet Harris said it was the closest race ever, or something to that effect.

Is what I was referring to.

I kind of brushed over the unsettling part… because what’s the metric you win an election? It isn’t who wins more counties so that’s a moot point. Obviously it is just indicative of Trump won more counties that are less populace while Harris won more counties that had a higher population. So what?

It is unsettling to think such a small portion of the country controls the results of an election. 451 counties out of 3,112 and the election was close. You can basically become President campaigning in 15% of the entire country? Yeah, that bothers me some.

Most people think of Murray as a guy who just runs around a lot. He’s actually a pretty good passer though. In 87 games he has a career completion percentage of 67.1 and a career passer rating of 92.2. Not bad numbers. I think with decent protection he could have a great year passing. We have a pretty impressive stable of receivers, and KOC loves the passing game. Regardless of where he ranks in the Division, I see some potential for a big year for Murray.

His running is a bonus. The defense usually employs a ‘Spy’ to keep an eye on him. But with JJ (WR) and the rest of our targets that would leave a three man rush if they were to double team anyone. It will be interesting if nothing else.

Yep, and really, the defensive front can’t just pin their ears back and come after him. They have to have a disciplined rush plan to ensure they stay in their gaps and don’t let him escape the pocket. By default that makes the pass rush a little less effective.

Copilot AI got a little sassy with me this morning when I asked it this question.

I hit the golf ball about 235 yards with a Driver, I used to hit it about 280. What kind of golf balls should I purchase? Does it make sense for me to keep using ProV1s now that I have lost so much distance?

Copilot:

Short answer: yes, it can make sense to switch balls—but not simply because your distance dropped. What matters is your current swing speed and launch conditions, not nostalgia for 280.

All depends on how you want to “score.” I’ve lost distance with age and switched from Prov1 to prov1x. Doubt it really made i yard of difference.
Think you can go to a more solid, harder ball and gain some distance. The tradeoff is the distance comes at the expense of holding greens and the short game,
An alternative way to gain some distance back, play a driver with more loft and a softer shaft -as soft as you can still control.

I stopped chasing distance a long time ago. I enjoy the feel of a good shot. Hitting the ball solidly is my goal.

I’m a complete schizio as a golfer.
If you watched me hit driver and fairways, you’d think this guy is about a 5 handicapper.
But if you watched me hit irons, you’d say this guy can’t break a 100.
And then around the greens and putting, maybe a scratch.
So, I can score pretty well, but hitting quality shots into greens is just not in the cards.

So you’re a normal guy on the course. Some things you do well, other things you don’t. Think we were talking about 9 woods and 11 woods the other day, and some folks said they couldn’t hit their 6 or 7 irons well. I could never hit anything above a 6 iron decently. I went to a hybrid and then eventually added a 7 wood, and my game got much better. Took my 5 iron out and added a gap wedge. Game got even better. A man’s got to know his limitations.

Think I’m worse than normal.
Put me 160 – 175 and I can hit a green maybe 75% of time. But put me 120 -130 and I can probably only hit the green 10% of the time. That’s just crazy.
Soon as I can find the right hybrids, my 7 and 8 irons are gone.

Even the pros have distances they are uncomfortable with. I’m sure you know that. But finding a solution is the right thing to do. If you find an 11 wood that really feels good to you, go for it. As I said the other day, my 9 wood swings so sweetly. I feel really comfortable with it, and I only hit it twice so far.

Changed my driver loft from 12 to 10 degrees, and now I hit further as long as I am in the fairway. Ball does not carry as far, with a lower trajectory, but man, I hit a few that rolled to 260 + on Sunday. That is normally my “late August” distance.

225-230 is my normal for spring. I get a bit more distance after it warms up and I get used to swinging the club. 250+ was the end of last season.

I am losing a few yards each summer though. Age is a thing.

Age is a thing for sure. Look on the bright side though. As you lose distance over the years, your wedge game gets better and better.

Yeah, I know at this point they are opting to do these international games for more exposure/money most likely. But still, you’d think the NFL would want to increase their exposure to other teams and also keep things “fair” by making teams go a fairly equal amount.

Kind of an eye opener of how hard that industry is and how fleeting any success is.
