Vikings Discussion & Random Thoughts
FTP!
It is hump day, and we will get the first injury report later today. That is always an exciting read this season. Guessing JJ is fine, since they dumped the QB off the practice squad. I am positive that we will see JJ and Brosmer from here on out, and Brosmer will only be in when JJ gets injured. I wonder who will get more snaps the rest of the season?
Playing the Redskins Commanders this week and I believe we could see Jayden Daniels at QB. Both teams are performing well below expectations, but the Vikings will not be favored in another game this season unless the offense suddenly shows up.
We get our first below-zero night, and it could be around -10 tomorrow morning when I take the dogs out. I am on zillow right now looking at FL retirement homes. Someday….

Got to see Cris Carter speak tonight, really good dude, probably gave the most honest interview I’ve seen from an athlete.
Are you taking a ‘fall guy’? Or are you the ‘fall guy’??
While I agree the Redskins had no business changing their name, I wonder what the grounds for the lawsuit are?
Those Native Tribes were actually harmed by the name change. They were ‘proud’ of the name Redskins and their Chief’s Logo. That was taken away from them.
If the ‘alleged’ harmed party was in fact not harmed but actually harmed by the supposed corrective action, they have every right to demand remedy and a return to the initial status quo.
Hmmmmm… hope they win.
Lots of native folks up here were pissed that the Fighting Sioux changed their name, it was mostly white people who had an issue with the name.
Hope the Redskins/NFL caves or that it goes to trail and they are embarrassed and forced to change the name back.
I realise that the first might happen and the 2nd is unlikely to.
We need that half point!
4 pt swing?
Must have to do with the QB projected starters.
Yep, once we sent Ridder packing, it was clear McCarthy was going to play. Definitely why folks think we’ll win.
Have they seen McCarthy play?
I admit, that was a little tongue in cheek.
I figured that the Redskins QB situation also played a role in the odds changing like they did.
Simple formula…
Yeah when he’s not checked out its simple. Dude hasn’t put that much effort into a catch all season imo.
Good news for the Vikings?
Their backup has been playing pretty well. And it’s probably fair to say he’s playing better than any of ours.
Mariota is playing well. Thrilling finish to the game on Sunday Night. Drove the team down the field, overcoming multiple 4th downs, to score a TD in overtime. That gave them the opportunity to tie, or go for two and win. Went for the win, but Denver stopped the two point conversion attempt. Gutsy performance though.
First injury report… extensive.
Funny, sort of…
Lol funny and sad because true
He’s from Chicago, been going on for decades there.
OBJ:
“Just being real, I’m gonna buy a car, I’m gonna get my mom a house.”
All things you dont need to spend LARGE amounts of money on and live comfortably and happily. Its your choice to spend that much on things. It would last a life time, you just have a toddler level of object permanence as the average pro athlete and cant comprehend saving and give and take.
Unfortunately, the average high level football athlete that has the stuff to make the big league probably doesn’t spend a lot of time learning basic finances. They are driven to perform on the field…surrounded by others with the same singular dream. By the time they make the bigs, they are surrounded by those that wish not only for them to succeed, but many seek to benefit from their success aka agents. I bet Thielen’s agent was whispering in his year, anxious to collect another commission on a short term contract, that won’t benefit him one iota in terms of compensation.
The IRS loves loves loves pro athletes and the Hollywood elite. Thank goodness for their complete idiocy with money.
You got that right. Sad. I remember the season of Hard Knocks from years ago when they covered the Browns, and there was a clip of a few of their rookie line man (cant remember Defense or Offense) and they were getting a quick lesson in finances and money at training camp and their heads literally exploded when they drew out on a white board how investing the money they are making now, can turn it into more by time they would be 40. It should be mandatory to take a class like that before you set foot on a field at training camp.
This is hilarious…
My kind of guys…
Some DAMN GOOD people in the world!!
There are… strong men with big hearts.
That made me tear up. No kid deserves to have to go through that stuff, but that was a great gesture.
That kid is facing so much, and dealing with things no child should ever have to. The guys were right to tell him he was tough. Good men. Guys the world needs.
Sounds like toxic masculinity
Me too reading this. Great kid, great guys. Said exactly the right things.
Love stories like this.
Great story, but its probably AI, I hate to be a cynic.
Spot on here…
I am team “Get Off My Lawn” and have been for decades….
With ya Surly… 100%
Welp got a group of 6 of us road tripping to the game this weekend. I remember when we got tickets in early September we were looking at this game as two teams that would be in the WC hunt at this point in the year and the $300 a ticket price tag was worth it…now…oh well lol. I plan on tail gating and getting drunk enough that I dont remember what will probably be the worst game I could see in person. Irony would be they somehow win it.
We playing the Skins. they aren’t very good.
And neither are we 😂- Vikes offense is unwatchable and checked out. Unless the defense/ special teams scores 3-4 TDs. This will probably be an L
This will be an L for sure.
I am just wondering how long JJ plays before he is injured again..
It doesnt really matter to me at this point. I reached acceptance this season was over after the Ravens game. KAM and Grigson are as good as gone im pretty sure. Off season should be interesting
Monty Python Auto Rec.
$300 sounds like great seats.
Corner of the end zone, like mid way up in the section. If these were two good teams that would be great. Ill still make the most of it! Have yet to see them win in person in MN. Would be funny if this was the game.
Bought Christmas Lions tickets for $180 lower level like 3-4 weeks ago. I wonder if that would be much cheaper now.
Ours our somewhat close to the end zone. I wish they were $180 lol.
Ours are closer to the top of the section lower level. Dad’s Parkinsons he can’t do many steps and needs to be closer to the bathroom. A college friend had the tix for sale and I was like, man, next year might not be an option to go to another one with dad so fuck it, game might suck but oh well. It’s Christmas Day so not a lot open, did get us reservations to Manny’s never been. Hopefully game attire is fine in there.
Hell yeah man, thats a good trip to take with your Dad while you still can go together, priceless. I’ve been to Manny’s once, It was good but that was 11 years ago so who knows what their prices are now.
Money well spent.
You will enjoy Manny’s (If you order any sides, they are large, so share) and having a good time with your father at the game.
Sounds like a fun Christmas!
Was actually in the process of getting tix for this game as well as airfare and my daughter called and said getting newborn baptized on this day. Boy I dodged a bullet.
Thats the lord/universe intervening for your sanity for sure!
Hmmmm…
It’s such a catch 22. I get it. Sure just go make the right decision and make the throw… but if his mechanics such and he has that wide stance again who cares, because the throws won’t be on target… but if his mechanics are great but making poor decisions…
Maybe he figures the mechanics can’t be fixed right now so if he at least learns to process the mental aspect by the end of the year then maybe the physical can be fixed in the offseason.
or that they have worked on the mechanics enough that if his brain catches up then the footwork and mechanics work will click naturally.
Maybe coach could call some quick-developing plays with only two real options.
Make things easier on the guy. He is already playing behind a shit O Line, and the WR drops are comical on the rare occasion JJ is accurate.
Hmmmm
Same thing happened to me.
Funny how that works.
Yea me too and every other kid in the neighborhood.
Can’t get much more like a human than this.
Raccoon breaks into a liquor store in Virginia, knocks down several bottles and drinks his guts full, passes out next to the toilet.

The way work is going today, that could be me tomorrow morning.
I hope Brad is around to post a thread.
The good old days…
Oh those deep long developing routes – shame on KOC.
Need those…..just not all the time, and most of the time on 3rd and 6 or 7.
And with a line that can protect that long…
When you have a QB that can make accurate passes and take hits, it works.
yep.
It was fun watching big plays consistently. Not so much this year….
Yeah that 2020 season with stat padding and a 7-9 record. Good old days indeed.
Gotta love Kirko.
Always just good enough to get paid.
And then gets paid so much that it handicaps the team. Add that salary constraint to a shit GM, and we get exactly what we have seen.
Fellas. We are having a crap season. Can’t we just pause and enjoy one gd play – Jeffersons’s first TD.
I don’t care who threw it – it’s just nice to see a play well executed by the Vikings.
Oh Surly, thinking about this morning. Yo will. find you can save a lot of money by not going for the 55 plus communities.
Thanks. I figured as much. I just need to not have any yardwork.
And stay away from places with backyard ponds.
It was more in response to the “good old days” part. They werent really that good lol
Well in 2020 our passing game averaged over 250 yards, scored 35 TD’s, and had 105.0 passer rating… so yeah, those were the good old days.
How do the Browns massage this situation?
However they massage it, they better have a happy ending.
Well Plaid.
OK, I got this in like 3 seconds…
Laughing
63% of statistics are made up on the spot.
I thought it was closer to 67.8%?
I think Trump had it right when he started calling the Gov of California “Newscum”.
Californians have been charged extra fees on their phone service the last six years to fund a “Next Generation 911 System.” Yet after spending $450 million, Newsom just scrapped the whole project because the technology doesn’t work.
1. Bullet train
2. Homelessness

4. Medi-Cal
5. 911 system

7. CA dept of education
And on and on it goes. It’s just one massive grift.
Oh yeah, he wants to be the President…
And yet smart money says he will be the Democratic Nominee for President in 28
Yep…
That said, man, the anti Newsome campaign ads are writing themselves daily.
God help us!!!!!
Yep, if they don’t fix the cheating, a practical guarantee
Laughing… Dems gonna hate this.
Laquon Treadwell is on the active roster for an 8-4 team and the Vikings are 4-8 with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
There are seven teams in the NFL right now with 3 wins or less.
Redskins are 3-9
Jets are 3-9
Browns are 3-9
Raiders are 2-10
Saints are 2-10
Giants are 2-11
Titans are 1-11
Please don’t list the 4 win teams.
Still can’t understand how anyone votes Dem anymore…
WOW. $7.00 a gallon for gas!!!
You know… that whole “tax the rich” crap is a total lie. Dem’s will separate you from your money every way they can.
If you have money, then you are rich. If you have extra money, then obviously you have enough to afford paying more to the government so they can make the world a better place.
And change the climate…
‘Not my monkey, not my circus’ any more.
Christmas gift suggestion?
MagSafe-compatible TELESIN ring light attachment for iPhone, with seamless magnetic mounting, LED illumination, and wireless remote shutter control.
Picked up a little treasure from the in- laws house over Thanksgiving. At least I got something out of the 1000 mile round trip.
Killer rims!
I am surprised it didn’t have those wire spokes.
Those are old chevy ss rims. I welded multi lug pattern centers in so they can go on almost any 5 lug pattern.
This picture shows them better. Good for derbying and moving cars around. Don’t need a bunch of different rims and tires.
Nice!
My dad had a 1961 Chevy Impala SS. All original and pretty mint. We sold it to a guy in Texas after he died. It was cool, but it would have just sat, so at least someone is enjoying it and will probably pass it on to more people who can enjoy it.
Very nostalgic!
Sweet! Love those big old wagons. I’ve got an ’83 caddy, good shape, low miles. Real steel!
…..not a wagon of course, but a big car.
I had an 83 ElDorado in the garage for 15 years. Loved the car. Had to sell it when we moved to Florida. Actually gave it to charity.
Mines a Deville, 4 door, never driven in winter. I think the wife would like to have something a little more sporty looking, but so be it.
……yet she will still ride with me, and says it’s like sitting on your couch, riding on a cloud.
I drive the ElDorodo for 8 years – loved it, Just parked it with the idea that when I retired I would do a complete rehab and have a classic. It was white, blue rag top and wire wheels. Beautiful car.
For the handymen on the site…
Is it weird that this gave me an erection?
Laughing… so hard.
Wish I knew that in the SoCal house, it would have been helpful.
Hmmmm a good idea for Christmas???
I guess if you live/work in one of those dumps that are blue run cities it could be a life saver. Of course if included the gun, like in the video, the police/DA would come after you and not the perp.
Minneapolis should be a decent market for these.
Words of wisdom…
Sales data confirms the post’s claim: Jaguar’s European sales fell 97.5% in April 2025 to just 49 vehicles from 1,961 the prior year, contributing to an 85% global decline since 2018, amid the backlash.
I had read/hear that their decline in sales had to do with remaking their manufacturing plant to make EVs.
I think this was a bigger brand hit than even Bud Light.
Jaguar used to evoke a classy, classic, cultured feel.
Now it evokes a girly men image, the last thing a classic car owner wants.
They were trying to ‘expand their brand’ to a new demographic. An utter failure, I wish the NFL would stop trying the same thing.
Indeed
I don’t think their brand ever fully recovered from all the electronic problems their cars had for years.
I didn’t know that the NFL had ‘electronic problems’.
#grin
The NFL is rigged, and should show a similar decline IMO if people would stop watching their scripted garbage. But they keep growing in popularity for some reason, even with their woke nonsense, arbitrary punishments for things, “random” blood testing, DEI pushes (players can be 75% black but if the coaches, who are far fewer people, are less than 50% black, it’s a travesty) and all the utter BS that comes from them. I have given up watching at this point. Not worth the frustration.
I watch only on ‘free tv’ with the sound off, always.
Won’t give them any money nor listen to their garbage.
After watching the Chiefs/Cowboys game on Thanksgiving you are winning me over.
What a complete dogshit commercial.
Lakes are freezing over in my area, may need to go fishing instead of watching the shit show on Sunday.
Don’t fall through…
Walk out, don’t drive out.
Yup, ice fishing soon. I wait a little longer, needs to be 4-6 inches thick. I live around a lot of backwaters and there will be guys out on 1-2 inches. Not me.
Some of the smaller lakes near me are around 4″ or will be by the weekend.
This is one of those singular things in sports that is really amazing.
It’s even more remarkable than that. It’s my understanding that Secretariat’s times would also still beat every other horse’s times at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness too. Meaning, Secretariat would win the Triple Crown every year since 1973!
LOVE the movie.
I prefer the book
I was at the Preakness that year – great horse.
But there was another interesting horse that run then, Sham. He finished second in both the Derby and Preakness and lost by less than a length in both. Once hitting the stall coming out of the gate and the other having to start in the outside position. Went on to have a great career in the money races following the triple crown.
In my best Johnny Carson voice… I did not know that.
Thanks JR!
Jockeys are interesting athletes. One doesn’t really learn how dangerous it is. There were more than 20 of them killed in the 1930s.
I remember this…
WOW, what a divisive, mean, nasty thing to say!
So vile and vitriolic. Total hate speech, meant to incite violence.
Classic
it really sucks knowing it’s not a matter of IF but when….
@Then we can see what Brosmer can do!!@
One positive for the team: Dallas Turner leads the team with 5.5 sacks.
She seems nice.
Now we just need JJ to get used to the NFL speed and maybe meditate some more to make his brain process things faster.
It would be nice if both 1st rounders actually were still on the roster in a few years.
He had two strip sack vs the Seachickens.
Probably just ‘garbage time stats’ so it doesn’t really count.

Actually even more impressive since the Seahawks were basically in run the clock out mode about a minute and a half into the game.
Surly – for real, 10 below zero!
Just got back from an early walk in a t shirt.
Florida is awaiting, and your wife can play as much golf as her heart desires.
I am truly ready for the 55+ golf community. Not able to sell her on it yet. Cannot afford two places and she wants to stay near family.
I would love to spend Jan and Feb down south. We may look into renting a place for a couple of months during the winter once my wife retires. If we sell and move south it will be from central WI to southern WI as that is where 2 of our kids live.
I think I am in the same boat. We have family here, and my wife is somehow attached emotionally to the building we live in. I hate winter, but if I could live in FL two months (Feb and March), this shitty state would be more tolerable for me.
I would still prefer to move to FL.
be careful, southern wisconsin is closer to the equator………………
It will be okay, they still have gravy.
What’s life without gravy?
I chuckled a little reading the words up top. My wife also despises the late December through mid February portion of the winter and talks about VRBO’ing a place in Arizona (think Sedona). I personally remember it being much much colder and much more snow in the small town I went to high school in Alberta and think our winter weather is relatively balmy.
I used to love going to Florida for a week during the winter…but the flight from Montana to Orlando got more arduous over the years, more delays and cancellations, MCO sucks ass, etc…Then you got the significantly increased native population in central Florida, the near parity of Spanish speakers with English speakers in the tourist spots and restaurants, etc…
I dunno, might be a symptom of getting old, but I am with your wife. I love to visit places but staying there for months or all year dealing with the traffic and tourists would wear on me.
I actually run into a fair amount of European speaking people as well as Spanish.
One thing I like about the Spanish around here, they work.
