Well here we are in the midst of another weekend during the offseason sharing wisdom and good tidings. Hope Spring is starting for some of you. Those in the great white north deserve their punishment of six more weeks of winter.
Minnesota Vikings Discussion- Weekend Back Page: 25 Mar 2023
NVF… here’s the cap hits with the corresponding moves.
Do nothing…
Trade post 6/1
Cut post 6/1. I was wrong. They eat 20m this year and 28m next year.
Ummm something is missing here, like the cost of all those void years?
That’s built into the ‘24 cap for all 3 pictures.
When a player is cut/traded/no longer on the team… those void years are all put into 1 year.
they don’t stay in their respective years unless he signs an extension and it’s worked into the deal.
those are the cold hard numbers and facts.
I don’t think Cousins contract works this way at all. But it doesn’t matter…
As you can see here… with 2024 selected all of his void money is accounted for.
it is accelerated to 2024.
and the overall cap numbers have not changed.
Here’s another….from spotrac
The Vikings signed Cousins to a one-year, $35 million fully guaranteed extension that puts him under contract through 2023. If they cut him he still gets $35M…. that’s all I can tell you.
He’s already got it.
this is all just crap magic. Your boy got his money.
that’s the point I’ve been making… there is a ton of flexibility and it’s up to Kirk if he wants to play or not.
nothing changes now for the Vikes… they get money back on a trade is all.
The money in the void years and all the cap accumulated which is some $48M doesn’t evaporate when they cut him. They pushed $16M of his cap hit for 2023 into the void years. Since his salary is fully guaranteed ALL of that money would come due if they cut him.
In 2024.
that’s the 28.5m
the 20m comes this year in 2023.
if traded… post 6/1 the new team takes on 10m of that salary.
I dont know what you aren’t understanding ive broken this all down to you with pictures and everything.
You’re saying the $28.5M is due in 2024 if they cut him in 2023… I don’t think so. Once his contract is curtailed, it all comes due. The Vikings don’t get a “freebie” in 2023.
They pay 20m in 2023.
void years come due the following year.
All I know Brez understands it, I lose interest about two sentences in to the above crap you posted. Thanks tho
Thts why there are pictures
I’m not forgetting anything lol.
these are the numbers.
The Vikings moved $16 million of Cousins’ current cap hit into void years as it was one of the team’s only options to create cap space without signing him to a long-term deal. The restructure comes with severe implications in the form of a $28.5 million cap hit in 2024 if they do not sign him to a long-term extension and he leaves in free agency next year. There are also now two additional void years that carry cap penalties.
Cousins gets paid on time, but the cap hit moves out over extended years. Cousins signed for $35M this year. That is what he was paid. You’re saying it would cost only $10M to cut Cousins. It would not, all the money due on the cap this year and all the void years is still hanging out there.
All of that money is accounted for as I have shown you.
it will clear up 10m in space if he is a post 6/1 trade for ‘23.
it doesn’t change the ‘24 cap.
only thing that changes his ‘24 cap will be an extension.
all those void years forward to ‘24 if he is not on the team as it would for any other player.
Where’s Kodiak theses days?
Hanging out with you.
“Hanging”….I wish he was.
No longer here.
Also….there’s this.
Post some Kirk news and…..
Post 6/1 trade of Kirk the Vikings save 10m on this years cap.
doesn’t change future years cap.
acquiring team gets Kirk for 10m
Laughing
So much wrapped around that I don’t know how it happens.
Huh? What do you mean?
Watch out for Rory at the Masters. Driving it a country mile (just hit one 420) and putting lights out.
Yeah…sausage nose sheffler is the guy to beat as much as I hate to say it. I’ll be rooting for Rory or a dozen other people as long as it’s not that texas reject.
You seem to have weird reasons for disliking people.
Been around enough people to tell. I respect his game, best currently, but I can’t stand his demeanor. Comes off like a nice guy but it’s a bs cover he’s a douche. Hell of a player though.
Another fraud is Matt Kuchar, the Cheshire Cat with that fucking manufactured smile. He’s a total pos.
Laughing… OK, if you say so.
I still don’t believe they’ll trade up for a QB but I think at 23 they MIGHT have a guy they like who’s not one of the top four guys.
Cousins was willing to give them a price break so all you nannies saying he wanted top QB money were WRONG!
If that’s true, Kirk must be in freak out mode….
Why? What does he have to be worried about?
Calling the movers.
He’s leaving after this season more than likely. He’s not worried about anything. He’s really good, and he knows it. Remember, only three QB’s in the league have thrown more TD’s than he has the last five years, and he’s spent most of those years in Zim’s prevent offense and playing behind a terrible line.
yeah probably time for a change for the Vikings and Kirk. Seems its run its course. Won’t surprise me if a pre draft trade happens.
Jesus… what is it with you guys? They CAN’T trade Cousins. Only Cousins can trade Cousins.
Lol yes. We know. Split the hair.
Cousins will trade Cousins if he’s not going to play this year.
a year off is no good at his age. I don’t recall a guy not waiving his NTC to be benched
Laughing so hard… Cousins is the starter for the Vikings this year. No one is going to beat him out, and NO ONE pays their QB starters money and sits him.
He’s only making 16m on the books this year.
and if traded I think the squiring team pays 6m.
that’s very attractive For a team to get a vet QB wkth cousins ability.
Cousins can allow a trade even though theres a no trade clause. Happens all the time I thought you knew that. If its a deal Cousins likes he can waive it.
Like to the Jets.
Jets should be calling KAM right now. Could probably get him for a 2nd (42) and the Jets also have the 43 pick. Likely wouldn’t give up pick 13 for Kirk.
I bet they could for a pick next year as well.
I think they have some reloading they want to do this year and why they aren’t dealing with the Pukes.
‘24 1st maybe… ideally it would be a late pick in the round.
And then KAM has some power to go for Levis and kee their ‘24 pick.
Kirk’s worth a 1st there’s no doubt about it but I’m not sure the Jets even have interest after Kirk pick the Vikes for less prior. Maybe that doesn’t matter now but it happened.
Not going to get a 1st round pick for a 35 year old QB unless their name is Brady or Rodgers.
2nd and a day three pick is more likely
Dumping his salary and getting a day two pick and then getting a QB on a rookie deal sounds enticing. Until he sucks.
No easy decisions here.
To be fair, he’ll be on the books until 2026 (or 27, I don’t remember)
getting a rookie QB is a move worth Pondering, if they see a guy they like
as Mick and I pointed out yesterday, the numbers work for a trade with the Eagles if they are interested
He has four void years after this year. KAM will either acquiesce to Cousins contract desires or he’ll have to eat $28.5 million of cap space in 2024 as Cousins walks. KAM can play hardball with Cousins all he wants. Cousins is holding all the cards.
Sure.
He’ll cost 10m to sit on the bench or cut post 6/1 this season.
You’re wrong on both counts and I think you’re drunk…
I am not.
post 6/1 cut/trade will have 10m count against the books this year.
a trade the 10m goes to the acquiring team.
a cut it gets pushed into ‘24 for 38m in dead cap.
You’re forgetting the $28.5 million left on the void years.
He’s a good QB.
he only has so much time left in the league and apparently the brass doesn’t want to guarantee too many more years.
He’s got plenty of years left in the league. The “brass” want him to sign a contract that gives them all the control (same shit Bruce Allen tried). Cousins will just go play somewhere else. He’ll be in demand. You will get your wish, but be careful what you wish for. Could be the next Redskins for 5 years.
I don’t know what Kirk has left in the league. Alex Smith was younger when his leg almost got ripped off
nothing in guaranteed.
as you can see in the report… the reasons aren’t Kirks ability at all. Nobody is questioning it.
I don’t know why you seem to take this personally.
I don’t. I don’t know why you think I do. You guys are the ones all bent out of shape about Cousins. I’m all good.
I’m not bent at all. He’ll likely play and play well for 3 yrs I just don’t blame a GM balking at guaranteeing a 3 yr deal. It’s close though he gave them a discount so you could argue it either way. If they did agree to it I wouldnt be upset either. I like Kirk.
I’m not bent out of shape at all.
im also not wishing anything. This is a Vikings blog. We talk about Vikings news and scenarios.
this is a fresh report and we’re talking about it. It’s what happens.
Redskins have been about .500 without Kirk. The Vikings are about .500 with Kirk.
Its not that big of difference, even though you are fooled by Cousins.
Ummmn not even close DE… you need to check the numbers. I’ve given them to you dozens of times… since Cousins left, the Redskins have gone through a dozen QB’s who have put up 95 TD’s in five years to Cousins 153. The Redskins were 7-25 the two years before Cousins became the starter and are 32-49-1 since Cousins left. They have a very good defense. Their offense sucks.
And not only was their QB unstable …
the entire franchise from the owner down:
it’s not apples to apples.
Ummm what? Cousins played through all that dysfunction when he was there… and he kept them in contention in pretty much every game. It was the lousy defense that hurt them during his years there. After he left, the defense got better, but their QB’s were way worse than Cousins.
Alex smith was fine.. but his leg on the other hand….
So sad about that. He fought back like a lion to play again, just too brutal of an injury.
I tend to believe the report. Makes sense with why they passed. Kirk and that greedy fuck agent of his thought giving them a discount was enough. Glad KAM passed on it.
You’ll be even happier (like the Redskins) when you suck at the QB position for the next 5 years.
I like Kirk and have been a defender of him here but asking for 3 yrs guaranteed with no team out option in 25 is a suckers bet. Glad they passed.
I’m all for the players getting their money.
just like AT getting paid from Carolina.
but that doesn’t mean I’m against the teams saying no as well.
that’s how this stuff works.
nobody is saying hey Kirk play for free.
Redskins about .500
Vikings with Kirk about .500
If the story is true, it means he was willing to take less but was told no. He hasn’t heard no in years.
Personally, I think it’s BS.
Kirk has never settled for less cash. Ever.
Importantly dollar amount, guarantees, and length of contract aren’t mentioned.
Clayton Tune is the only guy worth it.
He’s being overlooked.
Played 9 holes this morning at 9:30. Played with 3 nice guys and one had his girlfriend riding along just to hang out. Her name was Olivia, his name was Greg. Greg could hit the ball a mile but had no idea where it was going. For some reason, I was inspired by Olivia watching us and I shot a sweet 39. I was hitting the ball very solidly and the putter was doing well too. Left a 70 foot putt 5 inches from the hole. That got a “wow” out of Olivia. BTW, Olivia looked like she was about 22 years old. Very cute girl.
You almost played 10 holes old boy. Lol nice round.
I didn’t get to play this weekend although it was in the 70’s and 80’s. Yesterday morning the storms that hit Mississippi blew through right at 8am when I normally play. Blew that up. This morning I overslept till 7:15 could have rushed to the course (don’t pre set tee times I just show up at day break and get to be first off) decided not to go and glad I did as it started raining hard an hour later. Suns out now absolutely gorgeous but I don’t like jammed up courses. Weather has just not cooperated this year…had 3 weekends since Jan where I could actually play.
Last time I played I realized I wasn’t pulling down with my left arm and through the ball. I fixed that and really hit the ball in the center of the club. This week I continued with that and hit some great shots. I had another shot that tickled Olivia’s fancy. 421 yard hole, and I hit a good drive. There was water around the green (running up the right side and wrapping around back, so I just hit a smooth 7 wood for my second shot. I ended up about 60 yards from the pin, but it was tucked right and I had a tree between me and the pin. I could have played it safe and just pitched it to the left side of the green 30 or 40 feet from the hole, but with Olivia sitting there I took out my sand wedge and hit it straight up in the air over the tree to 10 feet. Then I rolled in the putt. When I hit the ball over the tree, I got a “great shot!” out of Olivia.
Ooooh weeeee….you had her hotter than a Louisiana pepper. I bet Greg was feeling inadequate.
I need to work on that as well with the left palm leading the down swing. Last week at the balloon factory I worked on right hip turn, down forward and through and a inside to out swing path. Was hitting a very controllable draw with my 7 iron 160 on command so that felt nice. I’ll practice the left palm some this week and see if that smooths out the feel even more it usually does when I’ve tried it in the past. My swing is close I can tell it’s beginning to become consistent.
Hope wifey ain’t reading.
I told her all about it. She laughed and said “don’t have a heart attack old man”.
LOL, understanding gal.
my wife would be the same…she’d laugh and say….
LOL. Women tend to mellow a bit as they age also. I enjoy conversation, dinner and company. Just not on a fulltime basis anymore. Think lots of women think the same.
Yeah, my wife is a former competitive body builder and 17 years younger than me. Still rocks a bikini at 52. She isn’t worried.
Saw her legs, i won’t argue with her.
If the Vikes don’t move up and get QB that means they think there’s a chance Kirk is back for longer term
Ok?
I just think they’re Fd 100% on draft capital if they do.
thwy can do it but it’s a full committal and new guy doesn’t get any young help around him.
Why? It’s not like it this rookie class of QB’s and nothing else. Vikings will be flush with cap space and there is a good QB class in 24. It’s the opposite of what you’re saying. You just want to see moves at this stage.
Burns vs Sheffler
Mcilroy vs Young
Playoff for the WGC match play event today. Burns is 3 up through 4 god I hope he beats sausage nose Sheffler. Can’t stand that guy.
Saw the Eagles in concert last night, excellent show.
was my wife’s first concert
Nice!
They play football and sing. They are very multi-talented.
When I told her we got tickets to see the Eagles her first comment was “you hate the poopeaters”
She is….
Fletcher Cox’s rendition of Aretha Franklins hit “Chain of Fools” was amazing I bet.
His rendition of the national anthem probably not as long as Aretha’s though
I would entertain drafting Bijan Robinson and Brice-Wheaton two supremely athletic offensive players to add to the mix. With JJ, KJ, TJ, and the new blocking TE it would be a very very interesting offense.
No
Say’s the guy who wants to blow his wad on a unknown at QB this draft. Please.
Gonna happen. Embrace it
I’m not condoning a RB at 23 BUT let’s say Bijan Robinson is a L.T. level talent. If you know that and have confirmed it does a team in the Vikings position select him? There’s the argument drafting a player isn’t just for THIS season. It’s for what you’re building as a team over multiple years. Cook is a Viking maybe one more season if that and to have a younger better more explosive version on a rookie contract makes a lot of sense for what you’re trying to build. Interesting thought.
Is he an AP level talent?
I broached this idea earlier in the off-season as well.
is KOC wanting a guy like that? Tough to say how much value an RB like that adds in todays game.
I’m also a fan of his backup… Roschon Johnson.
Texas had a hell of a backfield.
So I posed this question with Andy the stalker that what if we take Bijan at 23 and trade Cook. I think that’s a brilliant move both for longterm talent improvement and cap management.
Who?
i think Kwesi moneyballs and moves back. There’s a good group of players on the 30-50 range and if he can get multiple picks in there he will.
that is…
If he doesn’t move up for a QB… which I’m not sold on like skolly
Andy the Purple FTW podcast rube.
That is likely what happens, move back and get an extra player in a talent rich window.
No way in hell is he moving up for a QB in this draft. That’s pure gibberish tossed about by fan boi’s.
It almost sounds good to do…
and then you realize as of now… we don’t have a pick until the 4th round in ‘24.
makes it’s harder to fathom.
Exactly. The collateral position we’re in vs the risk if the QB selected doesn’t workout is a quick ticket out of town. It makes no sense, never did and it’s not happening.
I don’t think it’s like that… but I see it being tough to add around a young guy on the other side of the ball.
possible… they’ll have the cap space but it makes it harder.
Flores didn’t join to see us move up and blow our wad on a rookie QB while he has a bunch of relics and backup level players on defense.
It’s not happening and shouldn’t even be a conversation being had.
The conversation is a good time. But the more I thought about the cost of the move up the more it makes less and less sense.
theyd have to have some stuff in the pipeline to recoup picks and that remains to be seen. I don’t see them going full rams.
Yeah our defense isn’t good enough for a Rams level all in move. We have some depth building and cap fixing to address first. Depth is overlooked, most times fans focus on the 22 starters and putting together the perfect set of players when in reality you need 30-35 starter level players to have a shot at a ring.
Gonna have to give up the farm this year or next draft to move up and get QB. Get one now to sit behind Kirk
Wrong again….there will be potentially Lamar as a FA next year and others as well as some good mid first rd prospect like Sam Hartman to draft. You’re in the vortex of wrongness….everything you’re proposing is exactly the opposite of reality.
Bears are going to draft BJ
BJ?
Gm
I thought we were getting rid of the full page ads on mobile.
Say it loud for the haters in the back!
Kirkstans will never apologize to the fans who are based in reality.
Vikings are drafting Levis. I’ll give 7 to 1 odds.
10 dollars me – 70 dollars you
nope they’re in conservative mode this off season. You should be naturally embracing it
Bet then… free money for you. I’ll buy you some sparkling waters
Nah to lazy to bet…I’ll just own you in the comments.
I don’t bet.
but this one is intriguing.
I don’t think they do it.
They are. I’m confident but not all in. But 7-1 odds is accurate in Vegas
I think they will try, but in the end they will fall short.
Typical Vikings.
I hope it happens.
I doubt it does.
same
Pretty good odds.
Don’t sleep on this cat either….could be a huge get day 3. I like him and Tune more than Hooker. Sorry Ben.
Don’t hate him either.
Bennet Duggan and Tune all being overlooked.
Old and sucks
yeah those two natty rings are hell on his arthritic fingers.
The smart move by KAM is work a day two trade with the Jets to get Zach Wilson and we have our 1st rd talent who can work under Cousins. He’s on his rookie deal and is the perfect premium candidate with a 5 yr rookie contract which gives us so many options.
Possible.
maybe it’s on the table.
His comps were Kirk and Jimmy G lol.
fit right in
Well, he was injured and it would likely be at a discount.
That’s right up KAM’s alley.
I don’t want to be elitist and only post steak gifs, so here is something for the common folk.
Lifer, where’s the beef?
Right here!
Lifer.
where’s the mocks.
LOL
I’ve got you mocks right here Mick…
In your itchy puss?
yes…come itch my monkey
Some good match play golf at the WGC.
Rory Mcilroy vs Xander Schauffele
Cameron Young vs Kurt Kitayama
Scottie “sausage nose” Scheffler vs Jason Day
Sam Burns vs Mackenzie Hughes
Think i’ll pick up some irons for the driving range. My 4some days are over.
look for some Sim2 used irons, reg flex graphite or steel. They’re super forgiving and will give you at least 10-15 extra distance.
Yeah, pass on woods i think. Ican hit a iron better and if i hook or slice i don’t need to chase.
Never know when you’ll need your wood tho…..
I got rocket blades from Dicks a couple of years back.
$300 a set. Added 10 yards. Reg shaft.
I’m a TaylorMade guy on clubs.
Sim 2’s are two year old Taylormade clubs so yeah they make solid irons. I’ve worked on quite a few sets of rocket blades…really good irons you got a good set.
Davenport has a bad shoulder? Hunter 2.0?
That seems to be KAM’s strategy.
Sign/draft hurt players at a discount.
I guess he thinks free food and top facilities makes them better.
Gut says he ends up on IR, collecting a paycheck.
Yep. I would lean that way as well.
If he does that he will be labeled and will have little to no market value. This is a massive opportunity to prove he’s durable for a longterm deal worth 4x what he just got. That’s what his goal is. He’ll play his ass off.
Of course, because Vikings. Don´t know if I like Queasy´s strategy of signing injury prone dudes to prove it deals. Seems risky. Maybe it´s just a strategy for now while the Vikes are cash strapped.
Kwesi’s type. High upside players with injury history bc he can sign them cheap
Offense should still be decent. See what Flores can do, hard to get worse.
Damn, Lifer, I learned something today. I wasn’t aware that we could have a gif as our main picture on a page.
Thanks for posting!
Chatty kathies for the weekend thus fsr
everyone is worn out from watching March mentally disturbness (so I don’t get in trouble from the NCAA).
that K-State vs MI-State game was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.
It was a good game. I had K state making the championship. Bracket is completely busted now.
Nothing to do with football, but this looks very cool
https://www.yahoo.com/news/chicago-debut-first-commercial-electric-160233602.html
It does look cool. Wonder about recharging times, and how much electricity will be drained from the local power grid. That’s the piece I feel folks are missing here. Electric vehicles make up a very small percentage of our transportation mediums but they are already taxing power grids, especially in the summer when peak usage occurs.
There you go with logic again.
I feel the same way, all these electric cars on the road cost more to buy vs gas, even with the tax credits, and the electricity has to come from somewhere.
And you pay more than what was advertised for cost of ownership long term.
There are better battery technologies out there, I hope something better is picked eventually.
I am not confident though.
Yeah, I’m no physicist, but the ability to create electricity sufficient to handle an “all electric” future for vehicles would likely cost trillions of dollars a year.
I will never be an NFL GM, or pretend I could be. But right now I don’t see any improvement on the roster from last years team. Anyone think we’re better?
If Flores rushes the passer… then yes.
Lots of time left in the offseason… we have another 5 months before real games start.
Lots to happen between then and now.
Then…factor in the addition by subtraction…
You get rid of high priced players on the 31st ranked defense…
Thats a move in the right direction.
There are still details to be worked out with Hunter and possibly Z.
All good points, but right now, from a talent perspective the team isn’t better than last years team in my opinion and we’ve mortgaged the future with void years to get here.
Agree….I think its a future cap adjustment year and KAM is trying to get the books in order for 24 and 25 to ultimately build the roster they want. Maybe they do go after their QB to get that rookie deal started next year. But to do it and giving up a 24 1st like the panthers did is asinine when you’ll suck this year and hand over a top ten pick to your trade partner. Roseman will gladly do that.
That is the key… Will they go and suck this year.
Because Roseman will…. but will KAM offer it?
IF those guys we let go/didn’t re-sign aren’t a fit with the style of defense the Vikings want to run…
Why would they keep them?
True, and as I said, I’m no GM. I’m just a guy in the cheap seats seeing a team not get better talent wise, while pushing a ton of cap space into void years. If you’re going to mortgage the farm, at least get something in return.
My opinion is the void years are only for ’23 cap purposes.
They are pushing amounts like 1.7m into 3 future years.
Give the guy the money in a SB with a minimum salary and they can manipulate the better.
I’d have to go look at all the deals and add everything up, but I’d bet we have at least $50M pushed into void years at the moment. If Cousins walks next year all those void years come due, and it’s a $28.5 million cap hit in 2024. Same with Murphy signing, etc. The void years are definitely for 23 cap space, but we aren’t using the cap space to bring in stars, we’re bringing in just guys. At least that’s how I see it.
Murphy was one of the top CBs on the market.
Davenport was the top Edge on the market.
Oliver was a bit of surprise but has been the best blocking TE in the league the last couple years.
So you think we’re better talent wise than last year? OK, good with that.
My comment was in response to this.
Talentwise? Sure. How do they play as a whole? I’m not so sure yet. I think Donatell’s biggest failure last year was lack of pressure…if Flores brings more…it would pay dividends on the back end instead of hoping our secondary and LBs can hold up in coverage while rushing 4.
OK
That was my point I was going to post….so far in the secondary we let go four guys that are better than our current four guys (not counting Murphy)
Also if we lose Z and Hunter then good luck Flores….it’s going to be a shitshow on defense.
I think this looks like an 8-10 win team.
I still think the lions win the division.
Someday they will improve enough to crush our hopes in another NFCCG
Far better
If you don’t think we’re better or worse in the personnel department but think also offense actually gets to have its 2nd year in a system for the first time in forever, with an upgrade in DC coaching and scheming while winning 13 games last year… I guess we’re winning more next year! SKOL!
We won 9 ish games last year. Lucked out on around 4-5 one score games. That wont be happening again
Sure it will. Situational awareness and all that. Or not, no one knows for sure.
I am hoping the offense gets better. They actually slightly regressed from the previous year instead of the big jump everyone predicted with KOC coming to town. KOC hopefully grew up in his scheme and play calling, and the team got closer to “mastering” the offense.
As to the defense, I also hope the new DC will result in a more aggressive and stout defensive effort.
Finally our kicker is simply amongst the worst in the league. We kept him. That’s a head scratcher.
Soooo… IF the offense is better, and the defense is better, I would expect us to score more, allow fewer points, and not be in so many one score games.
Extrapolating a lot here, I know.
Well just the year before it was basically the same thing but the opposite result did you argue that they won more games than they lost and just said it was bad luck the other way or do you default to the negative?
Some people are never happy.
Excellent point.
Looks at record…..hmmmm….seems like history was rewritten again. We should probably go through every season of the franchise and decide which games we lucked out on and which games we got screwed over and change the won-lose record to fit our narrative. I’ve never seen so many people that are mad that we won so many exciting games.
And it´s kinda ridiculous.
It’s cause they were wrong.
I loved the regular season, it was a fun ride just like 2017.
Same shit ending though….just a week early.
4th and 8
Greta has sent me marching orders for the day….I must head out to the grocery stores.
I know you’re joking, but I resent people inflicting their personal points of view on me and insinuating I’m some sort of feelingless monster because I eat meat.
Does seeing the rainbow flags trigger you like some folks I know?
Yeah I do eat beef again, quit for about 6 months last year. I do agree the slaughterhouses are straight up horror shows and I would gladly give up eating meat to see them go away. Also the mass production of beef is one of the single worse things for the environment, climate and overall health for humans. But damn does it taste good.
So buy locally.
it isn’t that hard to find a local farmer.
I had a gay male executive assistant for five years Lifer. He and his spouse are like family to us. We are very close all these years later. Why don’t you stop with the liberal talking points about conservatives. They’re all a bunch of balderdash. Stop insulting me.
Yup.. its after 0800 on a Saturday. NVF is balderdashing.
Hmmm not sure how to take that…
I would laugh.
I haven’t seen balderdash used in a while.
OK, I was trying to tone the rhetoric down a bit and balderdash seemed like a good choice.
It fits.
I was just asking a question NVF I wasn’t assuming anything on what your view points were.
I have family members who are very conservative, but more from a religious standpoint which brings in the anti gay sediment. At times the feelings of not supporting those who want to reduce the reliance the mass agriculture of beef, pork etc also they carry the anti lgbt views.
It was an insulting, personal question which infers many things Lifer.
Wasn’t meant that way at all I apologize. Was just curious if that was also a viewpoint you shared since you lean conservative.
Apology accepted. I am very conservative, and accept people as they are. To thine own self be true. You might note that the liberal generalization of conservatives in this respect is political balderdash and insulting. Same with the race baiting crap.
Raising and Eating beef doesn’t cause climate change.
You are such a tool.
Greens a nice side, not much of a rib sticker however.
I enjoy a good salad on the side. However I end up adding non-leafy stuff to mine such as mushrooms, olives, onions and egg.
About 40 percent of greenhouse gases come from agriculture, deforestation and other land-use changes. Meat—particularly beef—drives climate change in two ways: first, through cows’ emission of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and second, by destroying forests as they are converted to grazing land.
But if we slaughter the cows, doesn’t that stop them from farting?
They won’t exist to fart. They’re bred for eating nothing more. Reduce their numbers by 80%.
If humans fart, does that contribute to climate change?
Ask Greta, doubt she passes gas tho.
She does in her sleep…
You know what really destroys forests, Greta? That´s right, wind turbines. They are cutting down centuries old forests (in Germany for example) to build their fucking ineffective and environmentally disastrous wind turbines.
But we should eat Jiminy Cricket instead of Chloe because cows fart so much…
It is hypocrisy that is normal for the self righteous know-it-alls that gripe continually about everything.
Deforestation that people just trying to survive and make crops and feed animals is overall much worse. Go attack them…
We will attack…..
I’m not just aiming this at a specific person, but it seems to be a human trait. People seem to need to have a cause. It may not be a right cause, but often it just seems to have to be “popular”.
I feel pretty good about eating an animal that I shot, processed, and prepared.
Then again when we get Thai or Chinese food I order tofu…because it’s yummy too
Chloe looks tasty.
Also, plants feel pain (according to some studies).
You want to live? you need to kill something.
I understand and know people that will not eat anything with a face.
I prefer beef, bacon and eggs to soy based manufactured products that are very unhealthy.
I also prefer bacon to pretty much any vegetable.
Good point, soy seems to be very unhealthy indeed according to some studies. Maybe that´s why our benevolent overlords want us to eat bugs now instead of soy and Chloe (who DOES look tasty, agreed)?
Pass the Chloe please
Now I want steak.
I buy a half hog and a quarter beef every year from a local shop near us. They get all of their hogs and cows from local farmers, not the big massive slaughter houses. Another benefit of living rural.
We have half a cow headed for the freezer in about two months
If I saw that actual label on a product, I would buy the entire stock and go feed the homeless.
NVF’s local golf course he takes his wife to on dates. HE’S clearly playing chess.
Yep… it’s a great “19th hole”….
Lifer…
remember when I said Shelley wasn’t that good?
Does him signing for a deal around league min mean he’s not that good or that he just wants to help his team?
Prove to me what he signed for with the Raiders. I haven’t found the terms yet.
I haven’t either.
Some rumbling it was 100k more than the Vikes offered but nothing confirmed.
He has only been on league min deals and should’t be paid much more than that.
So you remain wrong until proven otherwise.
No, he’s still not good.
He was good last year so you’re going in to your bubble of false reality? Now good for a multi year deal…ehh…that’s arguable but was worth 3 mill’ish over two or three for depth. He filled that role like a boss and we’ve gone down to street guys 3 years in a row in the corner room…we’ll do it again it’s how we roll.
It’s his height…the tall decision guys can’t stomach a short corner. You know..short people get in our way in life just how it is.
Yeah they’re definitely verticalists.
He also wasn’t that good.
Flash in the pan year. Need some consistency before you hand out multi-year deals.
Those fucks at PFF not only limit to a couple of mocks per day, they permanently locked rounds 3-7 unless you subscribe. Assholes I hope they go bankrupt.
What’s another good free mock site?
LOLOL
NFLdraftdatabase has one
profootballnetwork
Heres the database one…
and here PFN
LEVIS MANIA HAS BEGUN!!
That a QB the Vikings are interested in? Yes, I have been living under a rock mostly the last few days.
Also, good morning.
I have no interest in spending the collateral to trade up for a QB with a strong arm but who can’t read a double high safety tango mike blitz zebra flex.
If he slides to 23 then yeah worth a thought if now is the time to invest.
NFL.com had a four round mock with the Vikings trading up to the 10th pick with the Eagles to take Levis.
This years 1st rounder, future 1st and this years 3rd, I’d have to look and see if the trade points work for both teams
they’re pretty close.
Its similar to the move KC made for Mahomes…but that was 27 to 10
Pick 7 = 1500. Pick 10 = 1300
23, 87, & ’24 1nd = 760, 155, 360 = 1275
10 makes more sense but I can see both happening.
KC gave up 27&91 plus next years 1 to make it to 10 for Mahomes.
What worries me…is especially with the eagles is that Roseman is just a killer when it comes to finding a way to end up with 2 first round picks.
Hes very good at what he does so the move to 10 makes a lot of sense if Levis gets by the Raiders.
Roseman is playing chess and has been for the last 5 years building that dominate roster.
Now San Fran added Hargrave to the Bosa, Armstead, Kenlaw front.
Vikings aren’t doing shit in the NFC for the next 4 years. We have a lot of building to do and blowing your wad for a QB with question marks is not the path.
I keep seeing void years added to players contracts to lower their cap hit this year. KAM thinks he’s clever. That house of cards worries me. Sooner or later you will have to pay the piper.
The only reason for 4 void years on some of these deals is to get the ’23 cap as low as possible.
Davenport is on a prove it and if successful with be rewarded.
He’s maxed out the acceptable dead cap this year so it will be interesting to see what further moves are done with Cook/Z/Hunter types…but its doubtful Hunter comes to play for his <5M in new money.
But yes…the void years are a trick solely for ’23 and not future years.
Like Rob said…Roseman is good at GM stuff. Very good.
So is Lynch. Two of the best in the NFL not just the NFC.
I’m for the Vikings going to get “their guy” if that is who it is. I do not know. But having “your” guy is intregal.
Lynch and Roseman are also both playing with house money right now and qbs on rookie or vet min deals.
The only argument for going to get “Your Guy” now that you armchair masterbaters haven’t mentioned, so I’ll pose your argument points for you, is a rookie QB is on a rookie deal so you have that cap to get some FA’s to build a roster the other way. Maybe but it doesn’t work if the QB sucks.
That is exactly what I just said. LOL
I don’t know what they’re going to do. Nor will I pretend that I do.
I will show ways that they can make it happen though.
I’ve said a few time Clayton Tune is the prospect I like most. He’s being way underrated.
My apologies
Actually, if we are toast for 4 years it is the PERFECT time to draft a QB. Why pay an aging QB when the next 4 years are a waste?
I don’t think Cousins is aging, but the current course looks like the Vikings want to get out from under his contract regardless. I expect Cousins to walk as a free agent after next year. Where he goes, nobody knows. KAM wants to write contracts where the team is in control. He calls it flexibility but that’s not It gives the team all the control to do whatever they wish with the player.
Roseman is a very smart GM
Absolutely positively not and I will go full on doom if they do that for this guy.
What a way to torpedo your entire tenure and ensure you get a quick hook if 12 years since it takes the Wilfs a decade to finally fire an ineffective staff.
LOL
I’m impartial.
I’m all for going to get your guy.
The succession to Kirk is real and needs to be thought about…and may very well have been brought up in his interviews for the HC job.
This plan may have been in the works for a long time.
Who know…come Aug someone’s qb goes down and they’re dealing Kirk for a 1&4 and KAM is the new Roseman.
Can’t trade Cousins Mick. Right now it looks to me like Cousins will walk after next year, KAM will be stuck with a ton of void years to account for, and he will get absolutely nothing in return. KAM is about to take one on the chin here in my opinion.
Kirk can be traded at any time with his permission.
IF the choice is…sit on the bench and collect checks vs. get traded…
I can’t recall a time where the player has chosen to collect checks.
ok, I forgot about Carr. He just did it with the Raiders.
little different at the end of the year than the beginning.
I can… RGIII
I don’t know the story behind it.
I also don’t understand how a QB on a rookie contract had a no trade clause.
Its not an apple to apple comparison.
Didn’t he just get released because of his 5th year option?
Griffin could have demanded a trade. He sat on the bench as the 3rd string QB. The Redskins let him walk for nothing. That said, you’re right, it’s not exactly apples to apples, but Griffin sat for a year and collected his checks.
Yeah that was guaranteed money on his rookie deal.
He wasn’t a hot commodity and signed a cheap deal with CLE and a vet min with BAL after that.
Cousins is 35 this year and I don’t see him wanting to waste any time he has left in the league sitting on the bench.
These guys get moved all the time, he just has the control to not get sent to a dumpster fire franchise.
On the other hand, why would the Vikings have Cousins sit on the bench? To force him to ask for a trade? That’s messy and it’s called cutting off your nose to spite your face. They just gonna roll with Mullens?
the only one insinuating he would sit on the bench is you.
Here’s a scenario.
Season comes and the 9ers are still F’d at QB.
Lynch calls and offers 1&4 for Kirk because the vikings drafted Levis.
Does KAM turn it down? Or does Kirk say “no I have a no trade clause I’m going to stay in MN for another year.”
KAM I don’t know…but Kirk is moving on.
Mick, seriously… it was you who said “IF the choice is…sit on the bench and collect checks vs. get traded…”
Now you’re saying the only one insinuating he would sit on the bench is me?
You said he couldn’t be traded.
I said he could be. He has to waive the clause
I don’t see him staying if the Vikings don’t want him. You implied it by replying with this…
and then this…
Kirk is not RGIII and does not suck. He is not on a rookie deal. He HAS been paid all of his money and could be benched if he doesn’t waive the NTC but I do not see the scenario in which that happens. Which I said above.
I don’t get the rationale here… I was not the one who insinuated Cousins could sit or be traded.
IF they “can’t” trade him and he’s not going to start what are you implying?
Who said anything about not starting him? Oh yeah, that would be you. Let’s quit this foolish back and forth.
What were you implying by saying they can’t trade Cousins?
because they can.
and if they don’t want him to start what are his options if he can’t be traded like you say?
i shouldn’t have to break it down like this. This isn’t some high level technical conversation it’s a blog and there doesn’t need to be this much discussion about how something was said. You’re not stupid… so why are you intentionally being obtuse?
it’s like when I tell my 7 year old to clean her room. And she doesn’t sweep the floor. “we’ll you didn’t say Sweep the floor you said clean your room.”
so to answer your question…. If I say that Kirk can be traded with his permission he can be. And if he wants to be a douche bag and say no he sits on the bench.
I don’t foresee a player at his stage of his career saying no and not playing wherever he can.
They cannot trade Cousins… no trade clause. Spin it all you want Mick. Facts are facts. Your “if’s and buts” are driving me nuts.
Have you seen Kirk?
All about the guaranteed money. I expect he would be fine collecting checks.
That is his super power.
Yeah.
I dont think he’d just sit. Father Time always wins.
And in the end…vikes get a Comp pick
Correct.
”I want to retire a Viking…..”
“…..but only if I get top of the line fully guaranteed dollars”
He is a snake oil salesman.
I think his agent is the snake oil salesman.
I actually believe Kirk is sincere, and thinks he can get a championship here (and more money, of course)
Absolutely correct…His agent Mike McCartney came up with the plan in Washington to ride the tag twice and then turn it in to a huge triple pay day with two tags and a fully guaranteed contract. He does not negotiate away from what he wants for Kirk, take it or leave it and by doing so had Kirk earn more than anyone over that time period. Naturally Kirk had to also perform well enough to create the market and he did. Good team those two.
The franchise tag decision in Washington was a no-brainer for Cousins. Allen offered him $14M a year with not much of that guaranteed. The tag was $19.1M. So he took the tag money, played for a year and started all over with Allen. The next year Allen tried to sign him for $18M again with not a lot guaranteed and the tag was $22M. Guess what Cousins did? The 3rd year the tag was $33M and Allen had to let Cousins walk.
Chicago sent 20, 164, & ’22 1st to NYG for 11 and Fields.
It works:
Philly’s 10th pick is worth 369 (nice)
the Vikings 1st rounder is 245 plus the 3rd rounder is 48.
Future 1st is worth 2nd round points (if I remember correctly) and worth anything between 184 to 77 points.
If that’s who they decide is their guy, go get him.
Yeah I just used the same pick in Rd 2’s points for it.
I have no idea who that guy is, so I´ll have to read up on him. Might or might not be worth trading up for him. Draft is a crapshoot anyway, everybody is taking educated guesses at best.
.
I agree… players are “advertised” and hyped by Madison Avenue types to promote them for the draft. The glitzy photo shoots, the video cut up’s, all designed to make a player look great. We’ve seen a lot of guys like Baker Mayfield who came out on top in the draft, but didn’t exactly pan out.
Yup.
Even like last year…Malik Willis and Desmond Ridder were supposed to be “first round locks”
Those guys fell all the way to the 3rd I believe.
Exactly….just hold our water on these QB’s and resupplement the roster depth at this stage and IF we build a roster worthy of adding the guy at QB then go get him. Until then this is like putting lipstick on a pig.
Unless KAM is building 5’s wet dream for ’25 when all of the dead is shed and his QB from this year is going into year 3 with a championship level roster.
I don’t see them trading a first this year to have it be worth more than 23 this year.
Same reason KC did what they did with Mahomes…they had the QB that would get them to the WC rather than bomb the season out to a top 10 pick.
Yup, this ^^
I prefer the brand of jeans I get at Muldoon’s Men’s Wear Store versus Levis.
Haven´t worn jeans for like the last 20 years. Cargo pants all the way.
