Like I said, listening to NPR they were highlighting the plight of lower income Americans who have been buoyed by stimulus checks, loan forgiveness, etc…and stated the need to continue that course plus come up with a “fairer” way of assigning low interest loans other than credit reports. Sounded similar to the no paperwork loans that led to the housing bubble in 2009.
The underwriters were bouyed by New York investment firms who didn’t even care if there was a single qualification because they took the money and then sold the loan a minute later.
I’ve never seen so many people get rich from shuffling paperwork with exactly no risk to themselves.

I’m not here on my soapbox telling people how to feel or how to invest but I am hoping the less experienced investors among us aren’t panicking. There is plenty of value to be had. Chances are very high and I believe we have seen peak inflation for this cycle. People love to flock to comfort stocks like Coca-Cola, etc…Just because you bought stocks in Johnny (Deere) at $346/share and some guy today only offered $325 for a share doesn’t change the fundamental value of the company. The market has already priced in back to back 3/4% interest rate hikes.
My qualifications to offer advice are crap. I’ve read all the typical investment books and pore over the articles on Fidelity and bogleheads as I have been solely responsible for my wife and I’s portfolio for almost 30 years and a little bear market and inflation is just part of the cycle. Look at the history of the S&P 500 in our lifetimes. She’ll come back stronger than ever as investor sentiment changes in the wind.

I fell victim back when I was wet behind the ears. Reenlisted in the USAF, got a truckload of cash, and invested some of it. Several months later I got a notice that the market had dropped, and my current balance was below my initial investment amount, and I needed to send them more cash to remain invested, or cash out.
Having spent the vast majority of the rest of the truckload (MAN, Germany was fun!!) I cashed out. They sent me a check for several hundred more than my initial investment, because in the short time after I told them to cash out the market recovered.
Not saying the shitshow we’re in will straighten out that fast, but yes, it will straighten out.

I don’t remember the exact number but I was close to .4 or maybe even slightly over. Cop didn’t even bother breathalizing anyone else.
Luckily, the cop didn’t bust anyone. Made us dump everything and then told us that the RD would handle it. Sent me for like 20 hrs of community service on campus but that was it.
Reminds me of my stepson and the summer post HS graduation. He was camping up by Intake with some friends and told us they were probably going to have a few beers, which was OK with us as long as they didn’t drive or get in the river. Goodness knows I did as much or more when I was that age.
Get a call from Preston, one of the police officers that also was an EMT with me on the ambulance service, at 2 am. He said “ah I just came to this campsite and there are several underage teenagers that appear to have been drinking, but they all deny that they have been drinking with the exception of your stepson, who confessed to having two beers. However, he appears by far the most sober of them all. I confiscated their beer and they assured me they were not going to leave the campsite so I think we’re good but I am required to notify you that your stepson admits to drinking.”

So I read the Vikings had the most rushes in 2021 that went for one yard or less. We also had the most 3 and outs. We basically have the same offense coming back with the 23rd ranked oline and 26th ranked pass blocking. We were lucky w/offensive injuries last season too. Imagine if one or two guys get hurt on our oline and how bad we would be then. Throw in nearly all new inexperienced coaches and we have a shit show just waiting to happen. We might be winless going into the bye.

They’re clown shows, especially when it comes to quality of care issues, their answer is always more bureaucracy, like the ongoing increase in cases of abuse/neglect in nursing homes or group homes for people with disabilities, their answer is more investigators and administrators, when the issue is employee quality/retention to due shit wages. Constant and never ending turnover = new employees making mistakes/existing employees being overworked and making mistakes or hiring people you would not normally hire because you have no choice and they suck and can’t handle it and do something really stupid. But yeah, the gov’t answer to this is more gov’t, not better support for providers or their employees. I remember in 2017 we were due for a 7% increase in funding directly for employee wages that was passed by the legislature a couple years prior, but they were like nah, you’re getting a 7% cut instead.

One of the most intriguing things to watch with the Vikings in 2022 will be their switch to a 3-4 base defense. Ed Donatell’s arrival as the team’s new defensive coordinator could be the catalyst behind some improvements, but everything must click into place immediately for this objective to be met.
From a personnel standpoint, the 3-4 system may be a good fit with some of the current roster talent. Danielle Hunter’s return to health and the signing of Za’Darius Smith could give the Vikings a prolific pass-rushing tandem if both manage to stay healthy for the entire campaign, which is no guarantee based on recent history.
That said there could be growing pains within the front three on the defensive front but hopefully the secondary will progress. There IS a concern things won’t go according to plan with such a landmark change in ethos though.
There is hope the shift to a base 3-4 and some subtle scheme changes will make the defense much better this year. Like the offensive changes though, it’s a wait and see what happens on the field when the real bullets are flying situation.
Many questions need to be answered and historically things generally don’t go as well as one hopes. Expecting to turn around a historically bad defense and a bottom tier oline in one off season is extremely ambitious and very unlikely to happen. That is why most pundits see us in the bottom third of the league.
Pundits are just media types spouting opinions. Right now, today, the Vikings have old and young talent on the team, and veteran leadership in the locker room. In short, the team has enough talent to compete. How that works out under a completely new coaching staff and completely new offensive and defensive schemes remains to be seen. They could be pretty good, or pretty average. I don’t expect them to be pretty bad.
Only young talent that is porven is JJ, everybody else is a rookie or old as shit
We have enough talent to play the game, we won’t compete, not even close to enough talent to win the Owl, especially on defense.
I’d say the interior OL is bottom 3 in the NFL. TE is last in the NFL. Have 1 rb and he will get hurt for at least some games. Qb is 16th and 32nd if you play a good team, literally the worst qb under pressure in the history of the NFL. Defense has a bottom 2 DL. Lb’s are the best group on D. Secondary will suck but could get better once the rookies get experience. Booth and Cine could be ok. You only have 1 cb on the roster to build with, Booth. Pathetic.
Right now looks like they’re going to plug in Harrison Phillips as the starter on the left side of the D-line, who has 1.5 sacks in 4 years, and a rookie on the right. Plus Tomlinson.

He’s 10lbs lighter than Hicks and 10lbs heavier than Kenny Clark.

I would expect growing pains for the first half of the season on both the front and back end of the defense. We might be playing 2 rookies on a regular basis in the secondary.
