Vikings vs. Bears Discussion
It’s game day! It’s also an important game for the Minnesota Vikings. The team shows flashes of “what could be” on offense from time to time, but they’re wildly inconsistent, have floundered often, and they’re coming off of a disappointing home loss to the Ravens. The team sits at 4-5, so not out of it by any stretch, and they’re 2-0 in the division. A win today would have them back in the thick of things. The Bears are a much improved team this year, so the Vikings will have their hands full. The home crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium should help the good guys, let’s hope they bring it, SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, folks. I have tomorrow’s thread scheduled.
We had three Admins in todays thread and none of them thought to start a new thread.
It is not all your job.
Dallas with another TD after forcing a Raiders punt. Up 17-6 now. Think I might watch a movie. This is just getting worser and worser.
I’m not watching. Don’t like the Cowboys, they’re not very good anyway, and the Raiders stink. I would only watch if they were playing a team I care about.
It’s a crappy Monday night match up. I’m only interested because dak is my fantasy qb 😐
Quite a few of the prime time games this year haven’t been very good.
I have Pickens on my FF team, he won my week for me.
I’ve got Lamb, but Josh Allen basically won my match all by himself…..
24-9 as Raiders got another FG just before the half.
It would only be fun to watch the Cowgirls if they were losing,
This is not fun and since it is almost time for Gutfeld……….
I love Gutfeld!
Tyrus rocks as well.
He’s my favorite! Hilarious.
Well the game was tied at 3-3, then the Raiders made it 6-3. Cowboys came back and scored a TD though so they’re up 10-6 now.
Then Geno Smith gets sacked for a loss of 7. Second and 17. Short pass for 5 yards, and it’s 3rd and 12. Geno throws the ball into the end zone, incomplete.
4th down, and a field goal for the Raiders. They’re up 3-0.
Dak gets sacked, and fumbles the ball, Raiders recover at the 15.
Cowboys vs the Raiders in Vegas tonight. Do we care?
It is always good to see the Cowpatties lose.
Raiders are just terrible.
Even better when/if the Cowpies lose.
Prayers for former Viking DB Kris Boyd, who was shot twice in New York, while being robbed. Looks like he’s out of critical condition.
I keep telling my son, “Nothing good happens after midnight”
That shooting was at 2 a.m.
Yep… good counsel from you.
Yeah… it’s like that…
The McCarthy experience has not been pleasant so far. I remember at the start of the year we were all saying “JJ doesn’t have to be great – just competent”….AND he is not.
He certainly can turn it around but woof he has been bad.
Perhaps I should but don’t put much in these type of charts. Anytime I see “expected” gives me doubts – who is saying.
I agree that metrics are affected by anything subjective, and certainly completion percentage over expected, can be in the eye of the beholder somewhat. Still McCarthy is 44th in the league in completion percentage, so this may be a viable representation.
Honest question – so why is this? We have the best receivers in the league and one of the best coaching staffs. A QB, even a young one, should thrive in this system.
We are not the Jets when Sam Darnold was drafted there.
Exactly.
If Jefferson can’t catch his balls, there is a problem.
Guess the receivers aren’t as good as I thought.
‘Expert’ clickbait.
Not worth the paper it is written on, and it is’t written on any paper.
Woof!
Kirko gets to try and snooker his next team and fully guaranteed contract for 2026.
I expect him to play well because he is the money king.
And a really good QB…
This is comical.
ATL traded their #1 pick next season to the Rams, so they cannot even draft a QB again next season.
An ACL surgery, even if successful, would not have Penix ready by Sept next season.
Kirko will be granted his fully guaranteed salary for 2026 if the team does not cut him, and now they cannot afford to cut him.
I thought Kwesi was bad at this GM thing…..
Meanwhile, here is Kirko’s agent.
This is the third or fourth acl tear for the penis too, he seems to have some issues staying healthy
And the rams will probably get a top 10-12 pick while chasing a superbowl.
I don’t. Atlanta is a shitshow, no receivers with terrible coaching. He will look bad.
Last year before getting his arm severely injured by the Saints, Cousins was getting the offense going, and the team was 6-3 with one of the worst defenses in the league. I agree the Falcons are a weak kneed team, with a lot of guys who can play, but poorly led, poorly coached, and poorly managed.
Cousins has to figure out a way to make that bad offense go, despite all that. He clearly did that last year, before being injured. Might could do it again.
I still think JJ can become a quality QB, that being said if you have a strong mental attitude and the coach sees problems why can’t he talk to the QB and say everyone has a bad game you are the starter but we are putting someone else in be it late in the game or at half whatever is appropriate for the situation. They do it for running backs, WR and most other players. JJ needs the reps right now we are out of the running so play him to get time but if he isn’t improving those throws try the other rookie. I admire the mentally tough as much as the physically gifted. SKOL
Thank you! I say this all the time, what does it hurt to swap in the QB2 if the QB1 is struggling, give him some time to review film, game plan for his return series, etc…
Maybe they know that Brosmer is ass. Kind of like when everybody was clamoring for Mond and Zim said no. Mond wasn’t even good enough for the arena league. If Brosmer sucks and you play him, everybody knows. If he sucks and all the tape that exists is the preseason, then maybe you can fleece some stupid desperate team in a trade.
Remember when RGIII said Mond was a huge threat to Cousins, because he was everything Cousins was not? Well he was right; he was inaccurate, incompetent, and ineffective under center. All the things Cousins was not.
Mond was complete ass and Zim knew it
But… but… RGIII said…
he has kds worse than anyone ever, and he’s a terrible cfb analyst
Laughing… you got that right…
then maybe you can fleece
some stupid desperate teamthe Falcons in a trade. FIFYJets are benching Fields and Atlanta’s Penix has partial ACL tear. So many QB injuries this year, sheesh.
For sure. Injuries for all positions overall, too. My fantasy team(s) lose someone for the year seemingly every week.

Thanks to the wonder of recording, that loss snuck up on me. Didn’t start watching the game until 7 pm MST and immediately noticed the broadcast ran 3:43 minutes…which typically means the game goes into overtime (spoiler it wasn’t our game, rather the switchover to ATL CAR that went to OT). Down by six late driving the field I thought ahh Reichard is going to muff the XP. As I couldn’t envision a way Chicago would get a single point I then assumed after the XP that we would win.
I know many masochistic Vikings fans want to dream we go 11-6, no thanks. Missing the playoffs by a heartbreaking loss week 18 or getting into the playoffs as the last wildcard seed just means bad draft position year after year after year. We won’t lose out but at least let’s end a couple of games below .500 to accurately reflect the state of this team.
In summary, I am firmly in the 6-11 camp. That’ll give us a chance to bolster the safety and LB spots and maybe even pick up a QB in the mid rounds to mentor behind McCarthy as we wait and see if he is on a Bridgewater or Ponder career arc.
i agree harrison smith is trash, unfortunately.
mettelus also sucks and both of them trying to make a tackle together is like watching two toddlers reaching for the same toy, bonking heads, and falling down.
i will be SHOCKED if matt daniels has a job at season end…
also, i had a comment mysteriously disappear at the DN yesterday, it’s because i called the special teams, pansies.
If we don’t care about losing, why play the game at all?
I’m a fan. I don’t care if the players play or don’t play, I have other things I can do in my spare time. Neither of us have any control over how the players spend their time. I suspect the owners and NFL would prefer they play.
I would not burst into tears if the team announced they were forfeiting the season. Would generate some interesting water cooler talk, much like the team’s inclusive cheerleading corps.
I’m a fan too. I watch in hopes my team wins the game – isn’t that why they keep score. I do not watch for ” development ” purposes of players. If that were the case, I’d rather play golf or go to the movies.
There is a rather large difference between disappointment and burst into tears.
If it was all about winning the games, it was clear to anyone with a mark 1 eyeball that we needed to sign one of Darnold or Jones in the off season. The team without consulting me (those bastards) went all in on McFragile™, in fact they were so concerned about his fragility that they didn’t play him in the preseason. I guarantee part of the slow return of McFragile™ to the roster after his ankle sprain were related to the coaches seeing his struggles and happy feet with their own Mark 1 eyeballs and if Wentz could win us some games while they coached him up they’d call it profit.
I know you’re not a Minnesota clone, so maybe you agree, to me the team is way to touchy feely about feelings. Ergo they are treating McFragile™ with kid gloves rather than forging him in fire. But my job does not depend on his success so as a fan I just sit back and hope they can develop him. Need to make a decision by the end of this season whether to draft a QB2 as backstop QBOTF or go out and find a vet to mentor him next year.
When I read several times at the beginning of the season the Vikings had a SB ready roster with only one weak spot, I would have considered strongly bolstering the weak spot.
You only get so many chances.
It’s about winning long term, not just short term. Jones and Darnold were better options to win more regular season games. JJ is about winning championshipS.
Perhaps when JJ can consistently throw the ball
accurately we can talk about winning regularly, the championships.
And I still think the NFC is weak ‘this’ year and we had a chance.
There is no guarantee that this QB who is currently ranked 44th in the league in completion percentage will ever be good. Short term, long term, term life, or whatever.
Still too early to call him a bust though. All I’m saying is that moving to him was a move for the long term, not the short term. Today’s need it now society can’t handle that. Darnold was never the answer for a championship. JJ may fail, but they’re at least taking a swing instead of bringing in unwanted vets to make the playoffs and lose like they have done most of my life. I’d rather them fail trying to be great than just accept mediocrity.
In the end Bow, the Vikings “plan” was both irrational and nonsensical. Darnold had a lot of games with very strong play last year, and of course we won 14 games. But by all means let that guy go, and hand the reins to a 22 year old who has never, ever shown he can carry an offense with his arm. Why? Because he’s a winner… because he meditates before games… because he paints his face up like the joker for games and screams and yells. That is just dumber than a box of hair. The Packers showed the league how it’s done with QB’s. Draft a guy, develop him while you play a vet, when he’s ready, transition to him. The Vikings plan has more holes in it than a screen door, and it’s evident to all now.
I am going to watch the highlights and check your work, Mister!
Watching highlights…
I wonder why we got Brady to call the game. Is he being punished?
Some big misses by JJ, some nice runs by Jones. Jones is actually looking pretty spry for this late in the season.
Do you think they have a team tutor for Will the Thrill, so he doesn’t fall behind in school? I would hate to see him miss his chance to be eighth-grade attendant at Homecoming this year.
Bears also looking bad. I enjoyed the kicked backwards fumble.
Second and 25 looks easy for Bears, though.
JJ throws a 100 mph laser to Jones, who maybe lost a hand trying to catch it.
I am pretty sure Harrison Smith weighs 90 pounds currently.
JJ throws an INT. A Bear hanging off his waist likely affected the throw a bit.
Caleb is nifty in the pocket. I don’t know how he wiggled out of a couple sacks.
McCarthy hits a wide open JJ and then throws an INT. Good D on that play.
Caleb also throwing with some zip. His receivers handing it, though.
Jones with another good little run.
And JJ throws it over Jefferson into the sidelines. I honestly don’t remember many QBs being that inaccurate. That sort of inaccuracy is just flat-out weird. I don’t know how else to describe it.
Bears receivers really fight for yards. It’s like they can carry our entire secondary of 90 pounders on their back, no problem.
Another okay run, from Mason this time.
Then JJ with another overthrow.
Finally get a couple sacks on Caleb.
Price with a big return. Man, he was on his way so fast, Bears coverage didn’t even look like it existed.
Mason with an easy run-in TD.
Bears miss a FG. You really need a junior-high kicker to be successful in today’s game. Vikings have the biggest age range I’ve ever seen. 14-year-old Will the Thrill and 94-year-old Harrison Smith.
Bears get like 25 yards on 3rd and 13.
We complete a fourth down play!
Are Bears doing the prevent defense and trying to lose? Guys running free and JJ hitting them. Then Addison TD. Looking at the go-ahead TD, it seems like JJ should have let the ball go sooner. Addison has to stop and turn around weirdly and that gives the defender a chance to almost make the play.
And big Bears return. FG. Game over.
MT report checks out.
I forgot about poor Brady, you could tell he was getting exasperated trying to come up with new adverbs to describe a poorly thrown ball.
Bears TE and receivers dragging our DB’s for ten yards, golden!
rec for the McFragile™
Game was a shit show. I am firmly on board with the post. 6-11 is fine, IF the start to see improvement with the QB.
Also, maybe time to trade some dead-weight salaries or disgruntled WRs that could net some picks for Kwesi to fuck up.
I did not watch the game yesterday because my rationale was this: teams are starting to get film on JJ now, so he will likely have a bit of a “slump” as defense coordinators learn to make his life even more difficult.
So after church, I basically went straight to bed and had a super great nap.
Five-star Sunday!
See you guys Sunday in Lambeau. Easy W for us LOL.
KMA!!!
I can actually see the Vikings winning that one. Granted, they would win it by accident, but a win is a win is a win.
You guys don’t have a chance coming to Lambeau and we’re 6-3-1. We just have to show up and we will win LOL.
I’ve seen a lot of people calling for Lafleur’s head, and Love’s too. Maybe you’re not as invincible as you proclaim. If the Vikings win, those voices will be getting louder.
Its a bye week for us LOL.
Ya think? I don’t.
I hope not. I get a reparations check every time the Vikings win.
I live in Wisconsin, so I watched the Packers yesterday. You struggled to beat a team that has only 2 wins. I’m not sure this is the time for pride. If I was a Packer fan, I would be very concerned.
It’s just crazy to me that they allow the internet in prison….. especially the bestiality wing……
We were 7.5 point dogs going into Detroit and won. We are 6.5 point dogs going into Green Bay – this is practically a layup for the Vikes.
Saw a video clip of the 4 dropped passes yesterday. The Addison drop would have been a pretty good effort if he had been able to bring it in, but it was a good throw. The other three were very bad drops for sure.
The whole team was a mess.
And then they took the lead with 50 sec left, believe it or not.
But for sure believe it (and expected it): the special teams coverage blew it and it didn’t matter.
This boils down to what I have always said. Teams win and lose games. The whole QB wins stat is completely bogus.
Everyone really knows that but is at times conveniently forgotten to make a certain point.
Yep
Well, except that we all know if your QB sucks, you won’t win many games.
I try to not argue the extremes from either end.
True, definitely. If the QB sucks you probably won’t win much. On the other hand, you can have the best passing quarterback the team has ever had, who owns many, many franchise records, and still lose games.
JJ drove them down there to win it. It was a clutch drive.
And then, yes, like you stated the rest of the team sucked and lost it. Vikes’ special teams really needs help.
I think the Bears missed a field goal just earlier that would have given them a 9 point lead with not much time left in the game. So the Bears gave us a chance.
One could argue our D stopped them short enough so he missed……
Potato/putahto
45 yard field goal? OK.
LOL……believe it or not, that’s no gimme for him.
“For the 2024 season, the Chicago Bears’ kicker, Cairo Santos, had the following field goal stats by distance: 21-25 overall, with 8-9 from 50+ yards, 5-8 from 40-49 yards, 4-4 from 30-39 yards, and 4-4 from 20-29 yards.
He normally kicks outdoors. He plays home games outdoors, plus one every year at Lambeau. So when the majority of your kicks are outside, you might miss a few. He missed 4 kicks last year. OK.
It’s Packers Week! Time to forget about yesterday.
The Vikes are opening as 6.5 point dogs.
FTP!!
FTP!!
Sunday we’re playing Green Bay at Lambeau Field. How do we think that will work out?
My mother taught me if you can’t say anything nice you shouldn’t say anything at all!
My mother taught me to make good choices. Not sure how successful she was at that… grin.
FTP, Always…
Really was a big game yesterday.
Instead of being 1 game out of first place, the team is 3 games behind the Bears. Vikings are firmly planted in the cellar, and that is where this team belongs.
Play better. Or expect more boos. I am glad I went to the Bengals game, even though I did not get to see good QB play. This team at home is terrible.
So are we going to finish at 11-6 or 4-13? It really is a challenge having a team with a young qb. I didn’t get to see the game, but heard it all on the radio. Paul and Pete were sometimes almost speechless about how bad some of the throws were, but then at the end of the game, JJ caught fire. It also sounded like the wide receivers had some issues catching the ball at time. I don’t know if everyone was having a bad day or if JJ’s throws are too hard. I hate having to feel like a year is wasted and to use the old, “Well, maybe next year will be better”, saying.
7-10
If I believed in the power of prayer I would be praying for 4-13. As I explain above.
When every throw has flames trailing behind the football and a sonic boom, they’re gonna have a few go through their hands.
JJ needs to start practicing by throwing rotten tomatoes and not making them burst.
I miss competent QB play….man it was painful watching our QB miss wide open receivers
idk if it’s more concerning watching JJ have time in the pocket, step up and throw and have it fall 5 yards short of a wide open WR, or have time in the pocket, step up to throw and throw a duck that is intercepted easily….
Also hard to tell if his hand bruise was bothering him. Not making excuses or saying it was that–because the INTs were bad decisions–but just curious.
I haven’t watched the game… was it really that bad?
the bad throws were really bad.
he missed addison, hock, and JJ on WIDE OPEN throws….
but those guys also dropped probably a combined 5 catches (throw in brick hands thielen in there too)
it was a bad game by alot of players
thanks
Perfect summary. When JJ would make a nice throw it seemed it would get dropped.
The first interception, he wasn’t able to follow through, and that is why it was a lofty duck.
Fine, Let’s Talk About Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy
Good article.
And I am not clamoring for Brosmer. I just hope JJ looks better as the season moves on.
This season, that is all we have to look forward to. Either he starts to figure things out, or I will be on the Fire Everyone bandwagon. Again.
JJ does not look good at all. Article makes some salient points. However, to me it is still looking like JJ and Penix are both reaches for round 1 QBs last season.
I am NOT ready to throw JJ out – he’s only played a handful of games. Still, I find articles like this written as “homer” pieces.
And shaming Sam is ridiculous after a bad game. he has like 17 td’s to 6 ints. JJ is like 6 Td;s to 8 Ints. Sam is having a fine season and putting him down, after one bad game, does absolutely nothing to make JJ better or not.
Disagree on Sam.
Sam cannot handle pressure up the middle any better than other QBs I have bitched about. Detroit and the Rams exposed that last season. All Sam needed to do was throw one less INT and SEA wins that game.
I expect that Seattle will be one and done in the playoffs. They could win one game, but eventually a good defense will crush Sam. Again.
Since we a dead last in the division, have the lowest scoring offense in the division, I’d jump for joy to even get the chance at a playoff loss.
I’m taking Sam Darnold today a hundred times out of a hundred, over McCarthy. He’s completing 70% of his passes through 10 games. That’s singularly impressive. He has 17 TD’s and 10 interceptions with the performance yesterday. Just one of those days really. Overall he is performing at a way higher level than McCarthy is at this point. We can only hope McCarthy starts playing like Darnold.
No thanks on Sam. I agree he is miles ahead of JJ right now.
But you know exactly how it will end.
I actually thought Seattle had a chance since they have a great run game.
Sam could not get out of his own way.
This is what bugs me Surly. One game and he’s a terrible QB. That’s not what I see when I watch his play though. He has a really good arm, and makes plays with his legs too at times. So he had one bad game. That doesn’t mean he’s terrible.
I understand, and Sam is very accurate throwing the ball. That is certainly something that cannot be said about JJ yet.
Sam just makes very poor decisions when pressured like he was yesterday, and that is nothing new for him. Maybe a better scheme, or different playcalls? No idea. I am glad the team moved on, and happy Sam is going to be in the playoffs again. I just do not see him winning a championship unless the O line can give him better protection. Same song, different team.
Seattle is the Vikings last season.
I think that commentary is an anecdotal perspective, more than anything else. We’ve seen Darnold make a ton of really impressive throws under pressure. Like every QB in the league though, when you’re trying to make a play under pressure, sometimes it goes wrong.
Seems more like 5 games.
4 of which we got to watch last year.
He is a gamer but he has issues that good defenses know to exploit and it ends the same way.
Ummm… sorry… how did Goff look last night? Yeah. Bad games happen… they happen to every QB.
Bad games happen… they happen to every QB.
yes, but when they consistently happen vs the same type of defense, or as soon as that QB/team gets to a certain level of the playoffs, it is a pattern, not an outlier.
Maybe, but then you have to weigh in the offensive scheme against said defensive front. OC’s play a role in setting up the offense for success too. If you drop back and are under immediate pressure pretty much consistently, you’re not gonna play well.
Didn’t watch Goff or any NFL games after the Viking game.
Was pretty frustrated with what I read and saw on the RedZone thingie.
Yep.
Just because you are good for most games, doesn’t mean you should be paying high dollars for it.
The goal is making a deep playoff run.
If a QB has no history of performing when it matters, you shouldn’t be all that impressed over regular season performance.
Darnold is 0-3 when it matters most.
And sucked bad when it mattered most.
Most QB’s never make a deep playoff run, consistently, year in and year out. By your reasoning, most NFL QB’s should never get a second contract, and even then, that second contract shouldn’t be a big one.
Agreed. We have seen this for years.
No need to overpay for that.
PS that article is poorly written. Gates is losing his edge.
For folks who watched the game, were the interceptions bad throws, great defense, or receivers not getting it done?
All of the above.
JJ made a really good throw to Addison, but the defensive back did a great job of high-pointing the INT in the end zone.
JJ also missed a ton of wide open receivers.
WRs also dropped some balls that should have been caught.
Rough game. Wife reminds me daily that she wanted the team to draft Bo Nix.
I hate life as a vikings fan. Maybe I start rooting for the Patriots?
Saw something the other day that Bo Nix is the worst QB in the league under pressure and on throws over like 5 yards. Something like sub 30% completion on both.
yet somehow they are winning football games.
I agree, that Stats wise he is shit. Not JJ shit, but shit just the same.
So far, imo, Drake Maye looks like the best overall QB drafted last season.
And he sucked last year, so there is hope I guess for JJ.
Yeah, and I like how Caleb had a 50% completion rate yesterday as well, but the narrative is he was good. It’s early. JJ could very well fail, but the biggest issues he has are correctable like learning to throw with touch.
I keep reminding myself that Josh Allen was shit throwing the ball his first two seasons. He worked on it, and is very accurate now.
Did you see some of those throws Nix made yesterday under pressure when they had to be made. Looked impressive to me.
Bad decisions mostly.
Thanks… he’s young, and that’s part of the process, really. Every young QB has to go through it. It takes a lot of reps to be able to see it, know it, and throw it. McCarthy is a normal young QB. Folks who have told us he’s the savior of the team, over and over, are seeing reality now. He’s just a regular guy tangibly. Whenever you highlight a players intangibles more than his tangibles, you know that guy is gonna struggle. Intangibles don’t complete passes.
I think he’s gifted as a passer. Has a great arm. Just needs better decision making and better touch passes. It gives me hope.
But yes, can’t expect Pro Bowl level play from a 22 yr old first year starter. Have to be patient.
Well I wouldn’t say he’s a “gifted” passer. I’d say his arm is very ordinary compared to his peers. He is exceptional with velocity though. He can throw the ball 61 mph, which is definitely top shelf. The rest of the story is his ability to layer throws is still a work in progress. Right now he’s the 44th ranked passer in the league, in dead last. So yeah, long way to go.
The one in the end zone was more ‘great defense’, ball was well placed along the sideline and the defender won the ball.
The one to JJ (WR) was more of a duck, but JJ (QB) had a guy pulling him down by his knees. Could he have pulled the ball back and taken the sack at that point? I don’t know.
I’m less concerned about the picks and more concerned about the terrible inaccuracy
Good morning all, or maybe bad morning for us. Tough loss yesterday, after we thought we were pulling the win out at the end. That kickoff return was just a heartbreaker. Obviously if we can win out, we can finish 11-6. Still have a glimmer of hope.
I thought they said it was Harrison Smiths 200th game as a Viking, but I must have misheard, must have said it was his 200th birthday, looks young for his age, plays like he’s not a day over 180.
I think TOP difference was something like 58:00 to 2:00.
All the things that went wrong with the Offense that was so inept and you choose to rag on a defensive player????
The radio guys are infamous homers and they still yelled at Smith and Matelus (sp?) for missing an easy tackle. Everyone gets frustrated when we lose.
Yup. He is an extremely weak link.
What a bad day in sports. Team Hungary lost to the Irish Rugby team in soccer, Irish cocksuckers sent their Rugby team to a Football tournament, refs somehow approved of it. Fuck the Irish bastards, is all I have to say to that matter. I wish Erin all the worst I can possibly fucking imagine.
Vikes sucked as well? Surprise…
All that Dallas Turner is a total bust talk I’ve heard for the last year is obviously well placed as well.
Never bought into that.
He was behind two Pro Bowlers his rookie season.
Makes the loss even worse seeing Darnold light it up in an important division game.
Just imagine how good the Vikings could be this year if they could only have that type of qb play.
Darnold has 4 int so far today.
JJ (QB) only had 2.
Oh, but I keep hearing that Darnold is so much better and JJ sucks and everybody should be fired for not keeping Darnold because he would have taken the Vikings to the Super Bowl?
We lost 19-17 and the Seachickens lost 21-19.
Don’t think they dropped nearly as many passes either.
I call it a wash.
And the kicker misses to win the game. Not a gimme though, 61 yarder.
You mean to say the special teams failed with a chance to win the game? I’d hate to know how that feels.
Special teams did fail in that important moment, but we could’ve been up by 10-13 points with better qb play.
Or with better WR play.
I agree, too many drops also.
Sam put them in position to win, but another 10 yards is what they needed. Ran out of time, FG had no chance.
JJ (QB) put us in position to win with 50s left as well.
We can play this game all night.
Yup, and that’s why I’m still hopeful. It’s drives like his last one that shows me he can play at this level. It’s the horrible misses earlier in the game that concern me. Maybe some of it is miscommunication, idk. I want to see him succeed.
Not to mention that no one dropped the ball on that last drive.
I have wondered this as well, are the receivers where JJ thinks they should be? Or did JJ make the wrong read.
I’m wondering if he is just thinking too much early in the game. Seems like when it’s time to just go play football he shows up. Gives me hope at least that when the game slows down for him he’ll be fine. Maybe more no huddle, but if that fails you end up putting too much stress on the defense.
Good point, late in the game when we are desperate JJ (QB) just goes out there and slings it and it works.
Early in the game, not so much.
Back from the golf tournament. I played very well for me. Hit 13 of 14 fairways with my driver, and actually hit it very solid. We shot 10 under par, but the winning team shot 19 under. We missed at least 5 birdies by eyelashes though. Had a number of putts we thought were in, that just missed. Frustrating day putting. The two guys who were supposed to play with us bowed out at the last minute, so we picked up a guy whose wife was the event coordinator and was just there hanging out. He was a pretty good stick, and we ham and egged it around pretty nicely. It was a beautiful day, and we had a lot of fun. I’m tired and sore now though, so just watching the Ravens game.
It’s always putting in those kind of events. Glad you played well and had fun.
Just got back in town and noted the score – losing sucks.
But also see where we are last in the division. and also have the lowest scoring offense in the division. With our coaching and talent – WTH?
Yeah, I didn’t see the game either. I can rewatch it of course with my NFL+ account. Not sure if I want to though. I saw both QB’s went 16/32 which isn’t good. McCarthy had two interceptions, but might not have been his fault. Dunno. Right now the offense is not good.
If Matt Daniel’s isnt fired after this game, I’ll starting to think they either keep him on because hes a “minority” or because he has dirt on the wilfs/someone in the front office.
The special teams game in and game out batches field position at CRITICAL points in the game. Allowing big returns, or negating our big returns…..
Kickoff coverage is a joke and have been called for illegal formation so many times, boneheaded plays on punt coverage….a VERY undisciplined unit on the Vikings.
Will the thrill is the only motive and he does well DESPITE Daniel’s no doubt.
Also those drops KILLED us today. Alot to blame on McCarthy but holy smokes ALOT to blame on JJ, Addison, and Hock as well
I agree.
I still want our young QB to have a fair chance, but you can move me from the “patient” camp into the “worried” camp.
I am in the ‘Frustrated Camp’ but I know that is mostly the Fandom talking and not a ‘Logic Center’.
What the f happened today? Couldn’t watch the game, on my way home from an away win of my hockey team.
Our Offense sucked until we were 1/2 way thru the 4th and down 16-3.
Then we got a long return and got seven, then we sucked again until a missed Bores FG.
Then all of a suddenly we could do no wrong and got another TD, up 17-16 with 1 m left.
Then we gave up a long return and they got winning FG.
In other words a ‘normal Viking game’.
Actually the run game was decent.
When we passed JJ (QB) missed a lot and when he didn’t they were dropped.
Glad I couldn’t see the game, reading about it was bad enough.
Chose right to pick the hockey team’s away game then, Vikings fucked up, Hungary fucked up as well in World Cup qualifiers.
At least the hockey team gave me an away win, even if we’re in for another 6 hours of train ride back home.
Damn it!
We suck again?
We suck still.
Always will, it seems. Guess it’s time for me to step away from all sports for a while, it’s nothing but bullshit and heartbreak anyway.
Have a good one Phil, I might be back at some point, or I might be not. Nighty.
Kirk chains leading Atlanta to a potential game winning drive
1-4 at home. Hate to say it, but seasons over imo. At this point, we better hope that our qb gets more accurate and shows improvement no matter what happens rest of the season.
Probably right.
It is about reps for young QBs and draft positon now.
Sounds like a typical Vikings clusterfu**
This team just loves to ripe your heart out
Better ripe than raw I guess
The Vikings play as well as I spell
We snatched Defeat from the Jaws of Victory.
After practically ‘Snatching Victory from the Jaws of Defeat’.
Fuck
Well stated.
Of course after the passing game comes around ST fucks up
Simply amazing, how they shoot themselves in the foot.
Another miss maybe? Let’s go
Long return, can we get another missed FG?
We suck
UNBELIEVABLE!
For fuck’s sake
Too much time left
Yup
