I know not many will be around to read my lamentation. As I mentioned, I won’t be around much until early January. I’m feeling better, but still have a cough and lots of mucus. I’m already stressing about work in the salt mine as I missed some work due to illness and now there are holidays that the office is closed and vacation days. The first couple weeks of January will be brutal. And the big old kicker is that earlier this week my 3 year old grandson was diagnosed with leukemia. He will be spending the holidays in the hospital. He started chemo yesterday. So if I am brusk with any of you, please have mercy on me. Right now I either want to punch someone in the face or just curl up in a ball under my blankies and sleep for 12 hours.

I made home made egg nog last night, letting it age until xmas, will let one bottle age for a few months to mellow out. Used good bourbon, cognac and a proper Jamaican rum.

Aged a fair amount, and does not have added sugars or flavors (ala you standard garbage American rums like Morgan, Ron , etc. anything in a plastic jug). I used this to be exact, I had our bar order it so I could make mai tais correctly when I worked. Its a blend of Jamican and Martinique rums.

Haha I did a riff on Alton Browns recipe. Egg yolks, sugar, fresh nutmeg, salt, half and half, whipping cream, whole milk, aforementioned booze , vanilla extract, almond extract, whip to combine, bottle and age.

I remember as a kid watching my great great grandfather make those all the time during the holidays, He had this like suitcase that was molded for all the tools and ingredients to fit inside, and he made everything from scratch. By the time I was old enough to drink he was like 96 and starting to forget stuff, I was 21 and my uncle told me to try one but gramps thought I was still in HS so he said no, LOL so I just went with it. I still have never tried one.
Oh…you should…I mean they taste like alcohol (not like eggnog and SC), definitely a sipping drink meant for a cold winters eve.

We are having some issues with the young kitties that maybe others have experienced.
They are small cats, about 7 or 8 pounds each. They think the Christmas tree is their new, personal playground. Both have had to be removed from the very top of the tree multiple times. Their latest caper is to rip the name tags off the presents and drag them all over the house. By next week, I’ll be guessing which present goes to whom.
Answer, get a dog instead. Or you can put floor to ceiling fencing in.
I was pleasantly surprised, I have a 2 year old lab, that has never seen a Christmas tree. We set it up and he doesn’t even bother it. He sniffed it a couple of times but hasn’t really messed with it at all.
my kid’s cat is enjoying playing with our christmas tree as well.
so i have instructed my boys to take their toy swords and swat at/poke at the cat anytime she is under the tree or trying to climb up it. they, obviously, enjoy this very much and we haven’t have too much issue with our cat in a tree.
Buy one of these and find a bridge.

Although I love Ron Swanson, cats on a ranch/farm absolutely serve a purpose. I lived on this very large piece of ranch land on the Rez in a house that was very old, the only mouse I ever saw was outside in the cats mouth as they were eating them.

I can agree with that. Free roaming cats are one of the most detrimental animals for wildlife though.
These were pets… just outside pets haha. Still fed and watered them. But still they took down any mice near the house.
Cats that are pets but do the hunting are the best.
My cat now has caught 2 mice in my current home. One each of the first 2 winters, but haven’t seen one since (currently on year 4). But those two times he just uses them as toys. I end up killing the mouse haha. One time in my previous house he brought a fucking live mouse into the bed haha. Heard him making a ruckus (cue the gif) at like 4 am. Then he jumped on the bed and many times he jumps on the bed wit a toy in his mouth and I always joked on of these times it’s going to be a mouse. I looked up and the mouse was running. Got up and got my wife out of bed, just said come with me… she said later in her daze that she thought I was surprising her with a trip somewhere or something haha. Got my gloves on and caught that little fucker and gently set him on the ground as hard as I could outside in a slight whipping smashing motion lol.

Really not much you can do about it, Christmas is a magical time for young cats.
We have found the squirt bottle to be the best method for disciplining cats, but the allure of the Christmas tree may be greater than the fear of the squirt bottle.
I’ve heard to keep cats off the counter you should spread table salt on the counter top. Maybe, if you put some on the presents it would keep them off.

Spray them with a water pistol, whenever they do something wrong. Eventually, they figure it out and avoid the bad behavior.
So, whenever they are in the tree, hit them with a shot of water.
Having had a number of house cats, we have found this to be effective…they HATE the water pistol

He’s what, 20-12 overall? He’s been uneven overall as a playcaller and for as many good decisions he made last year and the first half of this year, he’s made some head scratchers lately. He’s managed to keep the team competitive despite losing his QB for most of the season and losing JJ for a long stretch, however the team could be above .500 if he didn’t call plays like Mullens consecutive sneaks, criticisms are deserved but its not he should be fired.

The way I put it the other day is he’s like a bus driver. You expect that he’ll do a good job most of the time. He might have a fender-bender every once in while, which is expected. But you don’t expect him to try (or actually) drive the bus off a cliff, like he seems intent on doing several times this year with terrible decision-making.
Found a place in Austin that is THE place for Vikings fans to go to for games. It’s a billiards bar… but I also found a bar that honestly looks better that is the place for Lion’s fans… might have to walk into the Lions den lol.

Nope. Long legs. Was billed as 1/2 Boston Terrier and 1/2 unknown. I see very little Boston in him. Convinced he’s got some greyhound in him. Loves to run, run, run. I take him to the dog park early 2/3 times a week to run – he’s excitable around other dogs, not aggressive – but gets overwhelmed easily.
We might be allowed a W on Sunday, just to set up a meaningful game @Lions in two weeks (provided we beat the FTP at home, I think we will, they are even more trash than we are).
If we win out and the Lions lose out, we take the div, right?
So, yeah. A LOT could be riding on that last game if we (KOC) can win the next 2.

Holy crap the DB’s are bad. Other teams would have twice as many interceptions as we do with those crappy jump balls, but we can’t even bat it away. Evans and Murphy are SO bad – shouldn’t be starters on any team IMO.
