Vikings News
Colin Cowherd proposes Vikings trade including Justin Jefferson and additional picks for No. 3 pick, cue the triggered folks!
From Vikings Wire, predicting if the upcoming Vikings free agents will stay or go, lol at this line: “Joseph is a below-average kicker and the Vikings don’t seem to have a problem with that.“
How accurate are mocks when it comes to QBs?
Tommy Kramer thinks the Vikings should sign Minshew, LOL, I’ll pass on advice from the perpetually drunk TK.

Would you include JJ in a trade up for Maye or Williams?

Thread Guidelines
- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

Unfortunately that ship has sailed.
And in the immortal words of WC Fields – ‘Anything worth having is worth cheating for.’
Good quote to remember.
All the comments about books earlier reminds how people always say, “oh you liked the movie you should read the book, its even better.” I’m like, no thanks, the whole point of watching a movie is the NO reading part. I will say though, on the few occasions I read a book, then watched the movie version after it got made, it is a mixed bag of which is better.
A movie is like an outline of a book. It might hit the high points but it will miss a lot of context/detail.
That is why all of the ‘Dune’ movies fail, visually interesting but story is lost in translation.
My Niece still complains how the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movie cut out her favorite character from the book ‘Tom Bombadil’.
I will agree that reading a book after seeing the movie is usually a fail. And if I watch a movie of a book I read I will have to temper my expectations.
I’ve only ever seen the old cartoon version of The Hobbit. I finally watched Highlander the other day, I liked that its fast moving with lots of action, the main character is not what I would consider great at acting and seems to have different accents at times, none of which are scottish, overall it is not in fact Oscar worthy as Ricky Bobby suggests.
This is kinda funny, Joe Montana seems like a cool dude

Wow, how brave and bold of him. Biden should make him an honorary US citizen and his VP running mate.
He’s too busy having meetings with people that have been dead for 15 years.
Can’t remember who Hamas is.
Hamas? I hardly knew her!
Isn’t that what hippies put on all whole grain crackers?
Aging just a fact of life but my God, try and decipher him on the podium is beyond me.
Jokes aside, I enjoy a good humus.
I’d be like ‘time to sell what we can and move’.
USAs southern border is open.
Wouldn’t be the first time. Haiti, Zimbabwe… all great and peaceful places today, I hear…
There was a guy in our church that came from South Africa probably about 20 years ago now. Even back then, he said he was never going back.
We are not that far off here in America.
Sadly that is a true statement.
Kirk Cousins should be a first ballot Hall of Famer when he retires.
There it is! The comment train has left the station!
Does that look like a SB winning QB to you or someone who should be coaching a JH Football team in rural Michigan?
Why would you put that sort of pain and mediocrity on innocent kids?
Because they are must learn at a young age that winning isn’t always the goal, its about the friends and money you made along the way.
He shouldn’t but his agent should.
Why is the z key again?
Think NFL should expand to a 52 game season, give us reason to talk.
Or maybe a 20 game season, played every other weekend, and then the playoffs…
I like that idea.
150 man roster. UDFA’s, college, maybe high school.
86 comments? You slackers. This the DN?
I just popped over there, it doesn’t look like they’ve posted an open thread since the 5th.
They had like 26 comments Monday and I didn’t even see a Daily Tread for Tuesday, or today for that matter.
Looks like Oof talking to himself
No one here posting insane pro Kirk rhetoric so not much to get in a fuss over. Also its a dreary boring ass Wednesday with nothing exciting sports related happening
What’s up losers?

A preposition….
What’s the over/under on how many NFL players/employees get into trouble while in Vegas this week? I think one Raider has already been arrested.
If the over/under is 25, I take the over.
I guess it how you define ‘Trouble’?
Legal trouble?? I would probably take the under.
Insulted some woke/snowflakes and made the news? The over for me.
I was thinking more with prostitution and gambling.
Neither is illegal in Vegas, but the NFL and the sports media will not be amused.
Prostitution isn’t legal in Vegas tho
True.
But it is legal in some places in Nevada.
Only in Brothels in low population counties.
Like the Chicken Ranch outside of Vegas.
Sounds like you know all the details.
Was stationed in Herlong, Calif, across the state border from Reno.
One of my co-workers actually dated a girl who was working in a brothel.
I had trouble getting my mind around that situation.
I mean I guess she was experienced and could probably teach him things. I would be worried about some of the little things she would share though.
He was quite proud of the relationship, thought it gave him ‘street cred’ or some such.
Is “street cred” slang for STDs?
It was in the late 70s/early 80s so @I am sure he wore protection@.
How much for half and half from a pregnant woman? Asking for MT.
Careful he might Google that.

I HATE it when I have prostitution trouble.
Well, this explains a lot.

LOL.
Ok. I got snookered I guess.
Still funny and might be true.
Eating at Babb’s Coffee House in Jamestown, yummy breakfast quesadilla.
I hear the word “quesadilla” & I think of this show.
Louis L’Amour is from Jamestown – my dad’s favorite author.
My Grandfather (Papa) had a leather bound collection of his works when he passed.
I inherited it, not sure if I should keep as a memento or see what they might sell for.
Ask VP.
He is the expert.
He also had a 1920 edition of the Epicurean that I have been asked about.
But he was a Chef and it is a fascinating book, I am keeping that one.
Cool stuff – my dad has most if not all of his works, mostly paperbacks and a few hardcover versions. He always carried one or two in his suitcase when he was on the road. I read a ton as well and picked up the habit from him.
I have read one or two of his books, not in awhile though.
They are ok but not ‘OMG’ type of thing.
Why I am considering selling rather than moving them to Idaho.
Majority are quick reads. Had a couple turned into movies that both my father and I enjoy. ‘The Sacketts’ is one. ‘The Quick and the Dead’ is another – both have Sam Elliott.
‘The Quick and the Dead’ was/is a classic.
I enjoy and occasional western. Just don’t know if it is worth keeping the collection.
I get it. Books add up fast. I’ve already got a pretty huge collection. Wife does as well. I’ve got several 6ft bookshelves full and our den has a bunch of built ins – all full. I keep a short shelf in my living room for stuff we’re reading currently and another 3 or 4 mid-sized shelves in our spare bedroom – all full. Same with my office. I’ve got OCD so I’m constantly aligning book spines and dusting shelves. I try and keep all academic and DIY books in my office and all my ‘leisure’ books in the den and spare bedroom. We moved into this place 18 months ago and at that time there were over 1200 books between my wife and I. And my collection is small compared to others I’ve seen. It’s a lot.
I converted the ‘dining room’ into a Library and have half dozen 6ft bookcases in there, plus The Teacher has one in the bedroom while I have a short 3 shelf one next to the nightstand for mine.
Have not many actual books since I retired as Kindle is cheaper/easier now. Not sure how much of them to take with us, like the idea of my Library of ‘actually read’ books in the new house.
I do too. Wife has a kindle as well that she loves. It’s not my thing – I’m already looking at screens way too often.
We couldn’t take ‘personal electronic devices’ into the prison but they were ok with paperbacks for ‘downtime’.
So no kindle until after I retired, the Unlimited deal lets me all I want for about $10 a month, way cheaper that way.
If it was MT he’d probably treat em like comic books and take em to the dump.
It depends. Are they actually leather or faux leather?
Don’t know how to tell the difference.
1973 Edition. Bantam Books
If they are Bantam then I am going to say with pretty high confidence that they are faux leather. They are fairly decent as a collectibles but if you sell them they will not make you rich.
I suspect you are correct about the fake leather.
Not trying to get rich off of them, just trying to reduce the amount of stuff to haul to Idaho.
He is a popular author and with the faux leather you should be able to get rid of them. You will have to be realistic with your pricing however.
Last of the Breed by L’Amour is one of my favorite books. I should reread it again. If you haven’t read it, it is one of his non-western books. It is about an American pilot that gets shot down and captured in Siberia. He is an Indian and then proceeds to use all his Indian powers to evade the Russians hunting him.
I’ve not read that! But I know dad has it. Last one I read was ‘The Haunted Mesa’ – and that was over 20 years ago. I love the premise. I’ll see him in a few weeks and snag that one off the shelf.
I snagged a nice hardcover of it from a book sale for $1 a few years ago. Man, I love book sales!
I have read that one, and remember it.
Has a scene where he spend some time with a Russian woman who fed him in return for some chores.
Not as much ‘action’ as I would have hoped but more of a survival story.
Yep, definitely more on the survival story side.
It reminds me of another shot-down pilot book: Firefox Down by Craig Thomas, which is a sequel to the book Firefox that the Clint Eastwood movie was based on.
I really like Firefox and Firefox Down. That Craig Thomas could put together a cracking yarn.
Have not read those, will have to take a look see.
Firefox Down basically starts immediately where the movie ended and first book ended, with the Clint Eastwood character trying to fly for home. Only it turns out that during the dogfight with the other Firefox prototype, he is leaking fuel…
Man, I should read that one again, too. I’ve been spending a lot of time reading books I’m not interested in to learn something, and it is getting a bit tiring. I should go back to some escapism entertainment.
Don’t know if I ever saw the film.
If I was overseas probably not.
I remember I was stationed in Germany when ‘Back to the Future 2’ came out. I had enjoyed #1 but didn’t want to see the 2nd in German.
By the time I got back to CONUS #3 was coming out, 2 was no longer in theaters and I didn’t want to see #3 until I had seen the previous one.
Still have never watch either of them,
Scary thought, my dad would read Louis L’Amour books while driving his 18 wheeler down the highway.
Talk on cell too?
No, it was pre cell era. He did have a car phone installed in his truck, but that was just for emergencies.
My marketing professor was a salesman early in his career and installed a clip on his steering to hold pages in place while driving from place to place as he was in the Kansas area and typically had long drives between appts.
Distracted driving a serious issue. I love when waiting on a long red and it turns green and some dumb SOB is texting and stalls traffic.
My dad had close to 5 million miles under his belt. He only had one accident, and that wasn’t his fault. He came over a steep hill and and traffic was backed up, the car in front of him was a station wagon with kids inn the back. He knew he couldn’t stop in time so he nearly drove off the bridge to avoid them.
Drove for UPS for thirty years, not semi. Those guys have a lot on their plate when you mix idiots, weather, etc..
I recently read UPS laid off like 1200 employees due to reduced demand in shipping, seems like maybe related to people getting back to shopping in stores more and not ordering everything online like during covid
Or they’re just not shopping at all because they don’t have any money anymore.
Yeah, that too, or inflation has made people lower discretionary spending.
12,000 i think. Guessing mostly management. UPS has plenty of money, profits go up and down. Like peak (Xmas).
Yeah, I meant 12k. They always hire a bunch of felons through my companies re-entry program starting in late October, then lay them all off in January after the return rush from xmas ends. Its good for the people coming through the program though, it gives real work experience to put on their resume with a legit reason they left the job, helps weed out the people who aren’t serious about integrating back into society too.
Never liked UPS management. They’d hire someone, give them the 30 day trial and let them go on car and tell a 30 year driver what he’s doing wrong. Robots.
True story. A driver has a flat mirror and wide angle. Somtimes you use you mirrors as much as looking forward. One day i’m delivering residential. I notice a car dogging me. I had enuf and stopped them. 5 management people wondering how i did my job.
That’s a shitload of miles. My dad traveled across the states of Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, The Dakotas and Minnesota – majority of his clients located in Nebraska the last 15 years of his career. All of it traveled by company car and later they moved all salesmen to pickups. In 35+ years he drove something like 1.5 million miles total for work – his estimation. I can remember the stack of maps and guide books showing small-town pay phones that he could stop to call supervisors, parts departments or clients. Way before the days of a cell phone.
My dad had a Semi he bought in 1980, when he retired it in 1993 it had just shy of 2m miles on it.
He drove from the time he was 21 until he retired at 73. He then took up farming for the last 2 years of his life.
Going to farming sounds like the opposite of retiring.
It was 60 acres of my Grandmas land, that was given to my mom.
Yeah, I find that annoying, I also feel like people are very quick to honk if you don’t blast off the second it turns red
Been guilty a time or 2 but sometimes right behind someone and you can see them staring down at phone. I don’t text and drive. Nice newer cars can receive and let you call and still watch the road.
People who think having their phone on speaker and holding to their face while driving is the same as hands free drive me nuts. Pretty sure that’s the same people who wore a mask during covid while driving alone in their cars or walking down the sidewalk.
I just know driving is significantly worse.
I have pulled out a book sitting in LA traffic before.
It gets to be a ‘one long parking lot’ at times.
Reminds me of when my Mom went to my sons wedding in Bismarck, we had a family breakfast at Perkins and she asked the waitress
‘in Calif we have this sauce made of diced vegetables and spices, do you have anything like that here in ND?’
My daughter did a facepalm and said ‘Yes, Grandma we have ‘Salsa’ in North Dakota’.
Ha! That’s funny.
We all thought so,
except for my Mom who didn’t understand all the laughter.
My daughter recovered from the embarrassment in time to join in.
You can only get Scotch in Scotchland I hear.
Should have asked the waitress if she knows Tiger Woods
Think it was before Tiger was a thing.
Plus I don’t believe he got up to Bismarck very often.
IDK later for pizza?
Not a bad read.

False, nothing is Kirk’s fault
I thought everything is Kirk’s fault?
One the other, but it can’t be in between
Pretty cool to see the OU basketball team play tribute to Toby Keith last night – they put a red Solo cup, an OU hat and a guitar in a seat for him. Then they destroyed BYU.
A not awful article from the NY Times regarding Toby…
Toby Keith’s Music and Politics Were More Complicated Than You Might Think – The New York Times (nytimes.com)
Cowherd is high….no way we trade JJ AND picks for the #3.
Possibly just JJ for the #3.
JJ alone isn’t worth #3 based on what previous #1 WR trades and the trade value chart.
Yes, but we won’t give JJ and picks…and yes, I agree it would take more than JJ.
I don’t think they’re trading him either way. I’d expect they sign him to a deal structured like Hill’s where all the guaranteed money is paid the first three years to coincide with JA being extended and at that point they look at potentially trading him as he’d be around 30, with no gtd money left, and you have someone already on the roster to take over as WR1.
Thanks for selecting my anthem as the media selection of the day!
You’re welcome asshole!
‘Just your average, white…. Suburbanite slob….’
News Event…
Haley loses the Nevada primary to “None of these candidates”
63% None of these Candidates
31% Haley
I don’t know why anyone is running in that primary at this point, it was obvious after Iowa “none of these candidates” was going to win.
Yep.
One is running because that candidate hopes Trump is in jail or killed.
That’s about the only chance she has.
I know mine is a minority opinion on this site….
BUT I think Haley would make a pretty good president.
Anyone with command of the English language be better than this admin.
She is a democrat in republicans clothing, but would be better than the current pres
I hear that statement, but don’t see any evidence of it…
Just like the “Trump is a racist” crowd..when you ask them to point to examples they don’t come up with much.
She seems like ‘old school’ established Republican to me.
So the Never Trumpers are donating so she will stay in the race.
Better than Brandon, duh, but Maga will never vote for her, they will write in a convicted/jailed Trump first.
She literally lost to no one in Nevada, how pathetic is it that the voters said anyone but you.
She flip flops and blatantly lies depending on the room she is in. Show her a video of her saying something and she will call you a liar (ie raising the minimum retirement age).
We could draw a name out of a hat and come up with something better than what we have.
There are plenty of examples, she her policies go as the wind blows.
Edge said she gives blowies in corn fields too.
who hasn’t
Who is the best Wednesday?
Christina Ricci, IMHO.
That’s my vote also, however, I haven’t watched the new Wednesday series so I really don’t have an opinion on the new girl.
I watched it some time ago, it’s not bad and the new girl is an adequate Wednesday, but she’s no Christina Ricci.
Jenna Ortega is very good.
They have all been pretty decent.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving…..
THIS ^^^ is the correct answer
Nice
I would go with Lisa Loring (RIP) who is the dancing Wednesday above.
JJ for a 3 highway robbery.
Happy Hump Day
Yes!
Would I trade JJ for a chance at Maye and Williams.
I don’t know who Maye and Williams are…
Potential franchise QB, could be Strouds could be wentzs
It looks like both of them have solid hair, so there is hope for both.
Williams also paints his nails and cries to his mom in the stands when he loses, so there’s that
RIP Billy Bob….
That trumps good hair. Have to pass on him.
Trump has terrible hair
*Winner hair.
Sign Gardner Minshew?
I’m not sure about that, is he any better than Mullens?
The Vikings have a history of going after the old cagey high priced veteran.
So that would be Russell Wilson in 2024.
I like Minshew more than Mullens though.
Man, I hope they do not go after Wilson.
Minshew certainly does seem more capable than Mullens. Could be an OK (and not too expensive) bridge QB.
If they get a cagey over priced veteran it will be Kirk.
Minshew is nothing special, but he’s not going to throw tons of picks
Yes, yes he is
Trade JJ for the #3 pick?
Nope, we’ll need much more than that.
yep.
JJ and our #11 for their first rounder this year AND next year.
Plus a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Don’t forget a few 7th rounders….
And a 8th.
Based on the Tyreek Hill trade JJ is worth about 2 firsts assuming the picks are around #20-29 area which was where Miami was in that trade. So assuming that, the Vikings would send something like JJ and #11 for #3 and probably a 3rd round pick, depending on how much said team values JJ.
Happy Hump Day!
Yes.
Will not happen, but yes.
Maye? Maybe.
Williams? You couldn’t pay me to take the CryBaby.
yeah, I agree. I just think that IF the team has identified who they feel the best QB is, just go get that person.
If KAM decides that the CryBaby is the ‘best QB’ and pays bank to move up to get him I will have to find a new team I think.
I get enough of that woke/snowflake stuff here in Calif, don’t need it on my football team.
