Vikings News

From local twin cities Fox9, Justin Jefferson wants to “break the bank” on a contract that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL and “be a part of an organization that wants me and to really give me what I deserve,” the current highest paid non QB is Aaron Donald at about 32 mil per year. IMO, the words “give me what I deserve” really turn me off, GTFO with statements like that.

An article saying the Viking should sign Derrick Henry on a 1 year 4.3 mil contract, I agree.

From Will Ragatz (I like him) Is Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy a Good Fit for the Vikings? “He’s mobile and tough as nails, and scouts praise his arm strength and ability to make difficult throws in big situations,” based on what I’ve seen of him I agree. Also said of him, “McCarthy has projectable physical tools with an NFL arm and above-average mobility. Scouts consistently bring up his intangibles as a strong selling point for their coaches because of his retention, recall and competitive toughness,”

From our old friend the DN, Teams know the Vikings want to trade up for a quarterback

NFL News

The 49ers are practicing on garbage grass laid over artificial turf while KC is practicing on normal natural grass at the Raiders brand new state of the art facility, hmmm…

VIKINGS QUESTION OF THE DAY

Spotrac has Derrick Henry at a market value of 4.3 mil for one year, at that price is he a fit for the Vikings?

Media Selection

I lost my closest friend in October when he was killed a vehicle accident. We grew up together, wrestled together, served our country together, went to college and lived together, worked together in a mine (a real mine, not the fraudulent one VP refers to), and remained very close despite later living 600 miles apart as mostly fully functioning adults later in life. He was a huge Nebraska football fan, his dog was named Frost Lincoln, and he took me to my first game at Memorial Stadium in 2014, which was an awesome experience even before the BBC (CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, MT do not google BBC) ripped the ball from Pierson-El, causing a fumble in the final minutes to secure a Gopher win. Moments after the end of the game Jerry Kill ran a lap around the stadium giving high fives to all of us Gopher fans who stayed, to chants of JerrySota. Husker fans are by far the best I’ve been around for an opposing team in CFB, they were gracious all the way. Anyway, this song popped up on youtube when I was letting it play out yesterday, and it reminded me of that trip when we both belted out the lyrics as we cruised down the interstate to Lincoln from MPLS. I’m not eloquent enough to express how much I miss him in a way that would do him justice, so I’ll just say he was the best battle buddy and friend I ever had.

Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks. Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

If there are any doubts regarding KC’s readiness for next season after Achilles surgery they should be erased after that little dance number – had to be cleared by a doctor to do that I’d think….

Jared Allen passed over for the HOF again.

Per Chris Tomasson. ‘Source says that DE Jared Allen, who was a finalist for the fourth straight year, did not make the Pro Football Hall of Fame for class of 2024. Allen starred in the NFL primarily with the Chiefs and Vikings and spent the past season helping #Broncos as a pass rush specialist.’

His mental capacity now does not affect his mental capacity then. The report says he knew what he was doing and he knew how illegal it was. It even describes how the tattered boxes of classified information were just sitting in the garage next to potting soil, etc. Unbelievable.

It is that time of year.
The Teacher brought home 16 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies last night now that her main dealer is up and running.

So added to the 4 boxes she got last week on a side buy I have now run out of fingers and toes to keep track.

And she will undoubtedly make some more impulse purchases when she is asked by a co-worker or friend of a co-worker or a parent or a student or some random person who has a GS in their life.

Looks like we will be hauling GS cookies with us to Idaho this summer.

MT type post:

I worked with a guy whose daughter was in Girl Scouts. I would buy cookies from him every year, until my son became old enough to play in organize sports.

For my sons MYFL team, they sold cookie dough as a fundraiser. I brought the sales sheet to work with me and many of my coworkers bought cookie dough. I ask the guy whose daughter was a Girl Scout, and I had bought several boxes of cookie from, if he would like to purchase cookie dough from my son.

He asked me what it was for and I told him it was for his youth football team. He said he would not purchase anything for a sports team. Apparently when he was in sixth grade, he was on a basketball team. One weekend the coach took some of the better players on the team to a tournament. He was not included in the group that got to go to the tournament, he made a solemn vow on the day he learned he was not going to the tournament, he would never support a youth sports team because they are all unfair.

A few months later, it’s cookie season for the Girl Scouts, and he asked me if I wanted to buy any cookies. I told him I would not buy any cookies from a group that excludes a person solely based on the gender.

He was pissed.

Ben,

That game was the first game my wife ever attended – her eyes were huge as she first caught glimpse of the field close-up, the same way mine were almost 20 years prior when I attended my first game.

It was Senior Day, and Kenny Bell – one of the most popular Husker receivers – made a huge play early in that game and was injured and didn’t play the rest of the game.

The Pierson El fumble happened in front of the end zone where we were sitting.

It’s true that Husker fans are notoriously gracious and good hosts – I still remember giving Rickey Williams a standing ovation when he left the field in a game NU lost – Williams ran for over a 125 yards in the 4th quarter alone.

It’s not true that you don’t have the eloquence to express what your buddy meant – I feel it, I’m certain the rest of Skoloholics does as well.

I saw him in training camp in 1998. At that point, he had the biggest calves I have ever seen. It looked like he had volleyballs surgically implanted under his skin.

He had one game where he was an absolute beast, just up the gut over and over and no one could stop him.

I looked that game up. It was 1993 against the Chiefs.

Graham had two games where he racked up 305 yards, which is still the most ever by a Vikings RB in a two-game stretch.*

First game was against the Packers!

That’s right he beat the Ravens RB’s record.

I remember this game! Was a Sunday Night game – folks didn’t have cable back then so I’d listen to games on my radio in my bedroom. Was clear as a bell – Kevin Harland was on the National Broadcast and it’s the first time I heard his patented…’OH BABY WHAT A PLAY!’ call – Graham was a monster that night.

Next game AP carried 11 times for 45 yards before being injured by Al Harris. Vikes were shutout in Lambeau.

I remember reading or hearing a comment by McMahon. In a game I believe it was CC came back to the huddle and told Jim that he asked the defender why he didn’t continue covering him. The defender said he knew Jim couldn’t throw it that far anymore. Jim disregarded the play the coach had called and said we’re running the same play. Jim hit the receiver for a long TD.

Yes, I showed that video to my nephews who are Packers fans, when they complained about Barr breaking Rogers’ collar bone.

IMO, the words “give me what I deserve” really turn me off, GTFO with statements like that.

JJ hasn’t learned the proper way to achieve this yet. He supposed to publicly say “he wants to retire a Viking and money isn’t the issue”, while he and his agent quietly demand a contract on his terms.

At least JJ is honest about it.

Seems like he wants to break the bank and get Cousins back…..Math may not be his strong suite.

Starting to think JJ and Kirko can shove it.

Can’t pay $70 million per year for 2 players, and expect a competitive roster.

So, you sign Cousins to a 2 year deal, Sign JJ to a 5 year deal, where most is paid out in the final 3 years. Then you draft a QB to take over in two years, when JJ’s contract starts paying out the top money.

That’s the point. Kicking the can into the future.
When you have a competitive team where the draft picks are the core, you can do it.

The Vikings don’t have the young talent to keep them both and be competitive.

If you sign JJ to an extension now, nothing but the prorated signing bonus will have an effect on this year.

Won’t work, why i grow weary. The cap was a good idea but now positional players are destroying it. Tired of it. Think i’m a bit snarky today.

Dallas has like $84 million between Dak and another player. But they have drafted well to fill in the cheap part of the roster.

Buffalo has like $74 million between Allen and Diggs, but they are $52 million over the cap that has to be cut away by March.
