- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
- All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.
Had a great day on the course today. It was wet with some standing water on a lot of the holes, but I striped it today, and have no idea why. First hole, walked up to the tee box cold… striped it down the middle with a little draw. Second shot from 150, into the wind with a hybrid, striped it to 10 feet. Lipped out the birdie putt, tapped in for par. Second hole, striped the tee shot again with a little fade. Hit a three wood again with a little fade, to 75 yards. Hit a sand wedge to 15 feet, two putt par. Third hole, 165 yard par three over water, with a big bunker fronting the green. Hit a seven wood to the right side of the green pin high. Two putted for par. Bogeyed the next three holes, parred the next two, and bogeyed the ninth, after hitting the best drive I’ve hit in 20 years. 40 on the front. Birdied the the par 4 tenth hole to start the back nine, and ended up shooting 39.
No idea what happened, but shot a 79 today and was one happy fucking guy.
‘was one happy fucking guy.’
So you hooked up with the ‘hot drink girl’?
Laughing… there was new girl. Very cute as well. Bought two gatorades from her, and the other guys were drinking beers. She was getting tipped well.
Well if you just use the ‘tip’ is it ok then.
According to Bill Clinton, yes.
Congratulations – 79 is great under any conditions let alone when the coarse is drenched. Think I need a lesson.
I did try and ensure the back of my left hand was feeling a lot of pressure at impact. My sons and daughter came to visit a week ago, and I took the boys, along with my daughters boyfriend to the driving range. I spent most of my time helping the boyfriend learn how to hit a golf ball, while my sons pounded away. Finally my sons asked me to hit a couple balls. I took a seven iron out, dropped a ball and just hit it without thinking, or anything. Hit it solid. Then went back to working with the boyfriend. My son asked me to hit a couple more balls because he wanted to film my swing, which I did. He later sent me a slow motion video of my swing. I noted that I was casting from the top. So today, I was just trying to really start the downswing with my legs and hips, and lead the club with my left hand hard.
I think it worked.
Splendid – everyone must find their own way and do what works for them.
Lier.
Don’t believe NLV is a democrat.
LOL, i bet NVF leans right when he walks.
And he;’s probably not the only one around here – but that’s a good thing.
Purple 3-0 over Raiders.
Wild 10-7 over Canucks.
This wild game is wild, they were down 4-1 last I checked in the second, now they lead Canucks 8-6 middle of the third
Canucks cheap shot fucks. (MT listening?)
A question for the contract wizards. Below said Vikings unwilling to give Cousins fully guaranteed contract. Does that mean none at all, or partial guarantee, or just what.?
Fully guaranteed, like 100% of it.
Thanks. Maybe this is stupid, is there a 50%, or 60% guaranteed contract? To a lay person, seems like a lot available between 0 and 100.
Yes, but Kirk wants 100%, and has asked for that for years. This is not really a surprise.
The JJ demand surprises me more. I understand wanting to get paid market value. I do not think the Wilfs are going to do fully guaranteed for JJ or Kirk or Hunter.
Thought Bow had a good idea couple of weeks go. Give Cousins like 30 mil guaranteed for two, with incentives for 3500,4000 yards, TD’s and playoff wins etc.
Think you could easily do the same for JJ.
Especially for JJ, injuries get tricky, but would think sharp minds can come with something.
How about play off wins instead of raw regular season stats? We already know he can rack things up when it doesn’t matter most, make the incentives kick in when he does what he was brought here to do in the first place.
This was Bow’s idea about yards,TD’s. I’m OK with wins, playoff wins etc.
Cool, we agree!
Oh, and you might appreciate this, spent last Friday at Buffalo Trace last Friday – really cool and some good stuff to drink.
Big money!
Oooo lovely, Iv heard good things about their distillery. The Speakeasy I work in still has our barrel select of Blantons from there, the owners hand picked the barrel, its so good. Better than your standard Blantons you would find on a shelf.

Carmen is an opera, not a musical.
True, not sure Opera is Music.
Right up there with Jazz and Rap.
some of it pretty good. My wife loves Madame Butterfly and Don Goivanni isn’t bad.
No difference to me
But an opera is still a musical. maybe?
Maybe musical is a movie to song and an opera is classical music with a story to song.
I had some decent posts today, IMHO
Yet I get a mention due to ‘musicals’?
Will have to reevaluate my life.
The couch’s contract voids today, 6.8 mil ded cap space applies to next year, that contract didn’t exactly work out.
Not a ton, but they should get a decent chunk back towards the cap from this year’s salary since he wasn’t playing.
I’m a bigger KC fan than most on here but this crap is getting old. He is aging and coming off a achilles and i believe he should cut the team some slack.
I believe he should cut the team some slack.
why start now?
LOL,i suppose.
About damn time someone has the spine to tell Kirko no.
Hopefully this is true.
Don’t be fooled!
Just needs a little makeup and he’s a perfect Joker.
Guess with those stats he’ll be the first pick in the draft.
Just to show that even after 30 years they keep you guessing, and it is not all love and harmony in our two dog household…my wife and I were shopping at Targé a couple of weeks ago and she bought the only bottle left of whatever relatively inexpensive lotion they had left. It is cocoa shea butter smells kinda like coconut sunscreen. I got out of the shower one day and put some on, wake up later that night and my wife is sniffing me and says “It’s YOU! You STINK! That lotion is GROSS!”
So that lotion got designated for foot rub status, I guess it’s not too bad on her feet but if it were close to her nose oh boy.
I’m sitting on the couch reading the online Bronco owner manual and she comes out of shower, plops down naked on the arm of the couch next to me with the body language characteristic of “rub some lotion on my back”. I reach down to the cocoa lotion that is waiting on the floor for me to rub on her feet once she settles in for the evening and rub some on her back…”THAT SMELL…OMG did you seriously just put that on MY BACK!” Boy howdy I got to hear how inconsiderate of her feelings I am.
Yup I’m whipped.

What are the chances that this will be one of those years will the Canadian teams will knock themselves out of the NHL playoffs by the second round?
Oil/Canucks maybe. Wild just had a 5 on 3 with Canucks and didn’t score. WT..?
Canucks are legit this year. Oilers will have to get by them to hoist the cup.
Hi Skolholes, what did i miss?
Waiting on my Norwegian history month.
You will be lucky if you get a Norwegian Minute.
And even then it will be Racist.
I like to only lock ONE of my front doors during Black History month, as a sign of trust.
We are down to talking about recipes.
Sad day in Skoloholics History.
But still better then the endless KC debate.
The WORST time of year for football.
Even recipes much better than mock drafts.
I am learning a lot doing a couple of Mocks a day.
QB/DT early, load up on Defense first then add a little O.
If you don’t go CB by round 3 all the decent ones will be gone.
Reading the Evaluations of players helps me understand who/what is available.
Zack Frasier, OC, West Virginia, sound like he could be what we need.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10091212-zach-frazier-nfl-draft-2024-scouting-report-for-west-virginia-iol
Will just say – your mock will be as good as any of the experts and their babble.
I don’t expect the Real Draft to fall the way the Mocks do.
Trades will shake things up.
So when Mocks throw up some random stuff I try to adjust as best I can.
I just don’t know enough about college ball, and there’s the leap from college ball to the pro’s. Take Cine, he should have been an excellent prospect, but look. And QB’s is even worse – i.e., Trey Lance.
So what happens, happens, and we’ll see on the field.
It is difficult to gauge what is between their ears.
Processing might be good enough for College but not the Pro’s.
QBs are most effected to this and then Safety’s (among others), they have to ‘read/react’ and I think this is Cine’s issue.
And that is indeed the problem – what’s between their ears.
Just picking nits to pass the time……
I’ve seen in other sports reporting that they put OC after a center’s name……..because it distinguishes them from their defensive counterpart????
We solved all the world’s problems. We have come to the consensus that the economy is doing great, Trump is the real threat, and Kirk should be given a fully guaranteed indefinite contract.
Shooting in Burnsville, I see. For some reason they were saying 30 miles south of the cities, well miles are getting shorter in my old age. When I moonlighted in Apple Valley the cities were right next door.
Not 30, half that maybe.
Probably 30 minutes which is basically the same thing.
Looked. 16.6miles.
That’s probably about right from downtown MPLS
LOL, no, not the same thing, the speed limit is 45 on the interstate from MPLS to Burnsville and traffic is terrible.
So it actually takes 45-60 minutes.
35W south non peak 15 minutes tops.
Depending where you’re going, 20-25 during non traffic, I regularly drive down there to see family
Since we are talking about cooking,
I made Farmhouse Pie yesterday, it took 3 hours and the recipe was 3 pages long.
But it made for some pretty good eating, leftovers tonight.

Anything with that much bacon, pork and butter has to be good!
At the end you cover it with Mashed Taters and stick it in the Broiler for 5m.
Not sure what the broiler accomplished other than appearance by browning the top.
Had to get a cast iron skillet as I didn’t have a ‘oven safe’ one. Will be using more it going forward.
My little niece wants to see West Side Story for the first time ever tonight. I didn’t figure on spending 2.5 hours watching a musical tonight.
It is a legitimately great movie, though.
For some reason, my dad loved musicals, and he made me watch West Side Story on my 12th birthday. I was against it, of course, but as I get older, I realize, he was right, and it is interesting to know my dad had that softie side to him. Never saw it otherwise.
We had to watch West Side Story in high school. Wasn’t a huge fan. Watched a couple versions of Carmen though and saw a live performance somewhere in the Twin Cities and that was pretty good.
Took my teen nephews to some plays just to torture them into some culture.
Trying to spend quality time with them after their dad (my brother) passed.
Pirates of Penzance was great for young teens and Fiddler On The Roof for older teens.
I never seen it, I feel like i’ve made 42 years without seeing it so I might as well just keep it that way.
My opinion, you can live without it.
It’s not bad though.
Probably, though I do often watch movies late when my kids can’t sleep, I mean, I watched the aligator people so its not like I’m busy watching the classics
It is basically Romeo and Juliet set in NYC with awesome Leonard Berstein songs.
I may give a watch sometime. Also, have you ever seen Repligator? It popped up when I was searching for the aligator people a while back.
No, looks like softcore porn, so I wouldn’t watch that.
I only watch hardcore porn…
Hey-yo!
Anybody have a good pheasant recipe for the oven or crockpot?
I have tried multiple pheasant recipes, but I always mess it up. It is an easy meat to dry out. It seems like the cooking times never work out in the recipes I used.
I don’t shoot enough pheasants to cook em much these days. I normally just soak em in buttermilk for a day, wrap in bacon and make kabobs. The kabobs are always a hit and my wife claims they are her favorite. It is Mrs. Bow’s birthday today and I didn’t get the pheasant marinating last nigh so trying to come up with a new recipe. I have an idea for a baked pheasant, but we’ll see. Sounds like she might prefer sushi tonight.
HBD to Mrs Bow….
It’s been a long long time. but my Mother rubbed the bird down with bacon and stuffed it with apples and bread pieces. Then baked.
At the time I liked better than turkey or chicken.
I’m leaning towards a breading of Shore Lunch and bread crumbs (with a few other seasonings), stuff with apples and back on a raised rack over some apple cider. I’d try the smoker but I’m a little hesitant on that one. Smoked chicken is good, but pheasant can dry out pretty quick so I think I might try that another day.
Sounds very good. Only thing I didn’t like was biting down into bird shot once in a while.
Yeah, that is never fun. The birds I have now are left over from what I’ll call a farm shoot we did last spring just to get our dog on a few birds and my wife a chance at shooting one. I think I got most of the shot out and did a decent job going for head shots but we’ll take another look as we prepare em.
Dang you must be a good shot. I only shot them in the fields and was just glad to hit ’em – although they are much much easier than shooting quail.
Well when you are shooting pen raised birds that are put to sleep and the guy tells you which bush they will be under and then you are working behind a pointing lab, you have a bit of time to prepare for the shot.
Minny used to have a ton of pheasant. My old man would just road hunt with 22 caliber.
Done a lot of that. As I got older, would just sit on the gravel road and waite for the pheasants to walk out and return to the brush nesting area for night.
Beats walking fields all day. Andd you could shoot a lot of pheasants very qjuickly.
Hows weather? They running Daytona?
Weather is clearing up – believe it’s a go around 4 pm.
So far that’s what they’re saying with the Xfinity race to follow. Oh, and in God’s time it’s 2 pm.
I believe that is illegal in Minnesota and has been since at least the early 2000s.
Maybe I’m wrong on that but I thought there was a rule against hunting next to roads. I know the stupid 9 am rule is to give them time to go rocking in the morning.
Minny DNR. License up, buy a shit ton of gear but don’t shoot anything.
It was illegal in Illinois then over 50 years ago too.
But if you’re out in the middle of nowhere – an old single lane gravel road, no one is around. Now, if you got caught, it was a ticket.
A better legal way was this. Have three guys stand at end of corn field. Have 3 0r 4 walk thru from the other end. Nothing. will happen until the last 20 yards – and then there are a lot of birds to shoot.
I know it is illegal in Montana. Although it is perfectly legal to hunt the ditches along railroad right of way, go figure (assuming you have permission to hunt the adjacent land).
Head shots, my goodness. I am happy just to knock the rooster down.
Well, not totally head shots, but I managed to keep the bbs to a minimum in the chest and legs. Just like shooting geese. Take your time and get lucky.
My DIL/SIL went to a ‘Chili Night’ at a friends house a few years ago.
The idea was people brought different chilis and they all tried each one and voted on their favorite.
They brought a Pheasant Chili that everyone loved.
But they still lost the vote to a more popular/power couple.
My suggestion is the same as any other dead animal, wrap in bacon and smoke.
Anybody here from Wyoming or there abouts. Was wondering what you thought of Liz Chaney?
Liz Chaney is a rat and does not represent Wyoming. That is why she was voted out. She won her first campaign on her dad’s name and when the people of Wyoming saw what she was really about they destroyed her.
But she said she was going to ‘transition’ into a new/important/vital even role.
Being a spokesperson for the swamp rats and left while claiming to be a Republican is not important or vital. It just shows even more who she really is. The only people in Wyoming that voted for her in the primary were Californians living in Jackson.
Agree. When you claim to be a Republican and are a poster child for CNN and MSNBC you know what they really are. And that fraud Kinsinger from Illinois too.
RINOs are an actual thing.
Hope that they become extinct once Orange Man returns.
I watched 3 minutes of the unwatchable NBA all-star game last night.
Those are 3 minutes of my life I will never get back.
Nothing involving the NBA is worth wasting your time over. Well, some of the Charles Barkley comments I have seen were pretty funny.
Makes flag football seem real.
Yes, flag football much more enjoyable.
KAT had 50 last night, I think I could have scored 30.
30 – easily, maybe more!
As long as you make a high percentage of uncontested layups you can score 30.
I stopped when Hardens ‘Bully Ball’ made it unwatchable.
The BLM/Woke crap just doubled/tripled down on that.
Too bad to as I played a lot of BB in my youth and enjoyed the (Former Minn) Lakers success.
SoCal, they took steps to eliminate Harden’s Bully Ball Bull Shit, and they outlawed the leg kick out while shooting.
All in all the NBA is more watchable now than it was just 2 years ago, but he all star game is awful.
I used to watch the crap out of the NBA. Man, there was some great games and series over the years.
I basically quit when KG and Duncan retired.
LeBron and his super teams is what started turning me off from the league.
Yeah it was/is tough when you are a Laker fan but a LeBron hater.
I might relook at it once he is gone.
Ok, probably not.
For some reason, I liked the Kareem-Magic era Lakers over the Celtics as a kid. I think it is because I thought Larry Bird had a funny looking face!
Now that I have gone back and studied things, I prefer Bird.
Regardless, they are all top 10 players, I reckon.
I didn’t like the Shaq-Kobe Lakers, but I miss them now that they are gone, Kobe especially. In retrospect, he was fully committed to winning, and I admire that.
Kobe was the only NBA player I ever cared to watch. I’m not a basketball fan but watching him was pretty special. Like watching prime Tiger.
I like listening to some former NBA player podcasts because they break down aspects of the game you never hear about, which gives an idea of the dedication of some guys.
For example, when Shumpert guarded Kobe, he had watched enough film to find patterns in Kobe’s moves based on his number of dribbles. So Shumpert would count Kobe’s dribbles while guarding him to get an idea of what Kobe was going to do when he had the ball.
Then Kobe found out about that, so then he went and purposefully changed his rhythms.
Lots and lots of great players/team/series in NBA history.
Wilt/The Logo/Bird/Magic/Kareem/Dr J/Shaq/Kobe/etc. I grew up hooked on all of it.
Too bad it has gotten so bad. I even get annoyed watching them dribble the ball up to their shoulders and palming the ball every time.
Clue ‘Old Man Yelling At Clouds’ Gif.
Seems like you are allowed to take FOUR steps before they call traveling – if at all.
Yup.
And then they have to cry/whine anytime some call doesn’t go their way.
Although there are some things called/not called that are pretty bad. Almost NFL level bad at times.
Cloud yelling is warranted in this case. I also read things that NBA ratings are dying.
I think my top 10 are in no particular order are…
Jordan
Kareem
Magic
Duncan
Hakeem
Kobe
Bird
Wilt
Russell
Stockton
Curry may be worthy, too. Shaq, as well. I think of Shaq more as a force of nature than talent, but that could be wrong.
LeBron can take a hike.
Some of mine go even farther back… Earl the Pearl, Dr. J, even Pistol Pete.
Me too. And Earl the Pearl and Pistol Pete were two of the most talented guys to ever play – and fun to watch.
Mt Rushmore:
Jordan

I never was a NBA fan. I attribute part of that to the fact there was no NBA team in Minnesota when I was growing up. By time the T-Pups came along, I didn’t care.
Seen a promo for the Simpsons last night. Homer was getting a massage from a viking and Homer says ” is there anything you vikings can’t do?”.
The viking replies “win a superbowl.”
I laughed and felt sad at the same time.
A painful truth, yes.
Foul!
That’s below the belt…
I’ve probably shared this information here before, but did you know they don’t allow cereal at TCO?
I rethought my take from yesterday that KAM hasn’t done anything significant on the “rebuild” part of the competitive rebuild. Hockenson has been a solid addition, and a big upgrade over Irv Smith for sure.
One good move does not impress me.
Indeed. I like the Hock trade, Addison pick was fine as well, but the rest? Not impressive, to put it mildly.
For the time being, I’ll give em a bit of a break on year one other than the trade. The scouts were all holdovers and had years of training to find the players Zim wanted. Last year they didn’t have that many picks but Addison was a definite hit and I see hope with Blackmon still. This year will go a long way to me deciding one way or another. Get JJ and if they could get Haynes and/or Sweat I would be pretty pumped. Hopefully the scouts know more what KOC is looking for now and are grading appropriately.
The top dog can’t pass the buck. If he couldn’t communicate to the scouts what he wanted, then that is also on him.
Yeah, but they went through the entire college season scouting guys with one thing in mind. Kind of hard to redo 6 months, or more, of work on a guy when he’s not even playing anymore.
Is it more important to have the highest paid TE or WR for our offensive system? Not sure but leam WR.
Just got back from Kentucky – yes, I’m a sissy. now and can’t stand the cold. Bourban was good, but I was frozen the whole time.
The JJ story is interesting. We are a passing team. We just made out TE one of the highest paid in the league. So why wouldn’t you pay the best WR in the league?
I had never heard Kentucky described as cold before, that is interesting. As to JJ, it just depends on what he is looking for. Making him the highest paid WR would be something like 31-32 mil per year, but there are reports he wants to be the highest paid non QB in the league, which would be 35+ mil per year, at this point, who knows what is accurate.
Left Florida it was 78 sunny. Got. in at midnight, got up it was 17 with major wind out of North. Now, for you guys, that’s probably not much – 17- but big change for me and didn’t have right clothes. Been on blood thinners since bout with covid, and that doesn’t help. So, I’m a sissy now.
Yea, don’t know about 35 either and I like JJ a lot.
Yeah, 17 is still chilly, I did not know Kentucky got that cold, for some reason I imagined it was one of those states that never gets cold.
Welcome back JR. Heading out ot the golf course in about 25 minutes. We’ve had bad weather here the last couple days, so you came back at just the right time.
Be surprised if your golf course isn’t soaked. Not all tht warm here right now. Shoot well.
I noticed a few days ago, that JJ’s picture no longer adorns the Vikings.com homepage, as it has for over a year.
LOL, I guess I’ve never looked at the picture on the vikings homepage, or noticed who it was.
Finally bright and sunny again today in Tampa. Currently it’s 51 degrees with a high of 63 expected. Gonna go play some golf around 10 a.m. It rained on and off for the last two days, so I expect the course to be wet and slow. Still, looking forward to whacking the ball around.
I came to work this morning to discover my chair has disappeared.
This makes no sense.
If it is a prank, it is not a good one.
Next, if someone needed a chair, my room is the most difficult, inconvenient place to steal a chair from.
I have sent out investigative emails.
More later…
Presidents Day sale…
Maybe they fired you but forget to tell you
Did they swap your desk for one of those stand up ones? They’re just worried about your health and don’t want you to get old like Harry.
The mystery has been solved.
A new girl started recently (yes, she has already fallen in love with me, and it is likely a psycho-stalker situation, but that is a tale for a different day).
The office manager had a spare chair at home like mine that she wondered if the new girl would want, so they took my chair while I was out Friday for the new girl to test. Then they forgot to return it.
Of course, the new girl changed all of my chair settings in the bargain. For this reason, whatever sympathy I felt for her being in love with me, yet never being able to touch me, is gone.
Sorry, new girl, this means war…
Try to let her down easily, Wrenage. It can be really difficult for young females when their dreams are crushed.
She has such big eyes. And she is much prettier than her sister.
Her sister plays a really smart person though so that makes up the difference.
I enjoy that show, but as the seasons wear on, she gets more and more annoying.
As a fellow genius, I appreciate her attitude and smarts.
I think I could be aptly described as a combination of Sheldon Cooper and Seeley Booth.
We have a missing chair in our office also. This seems to be a wide scale issue. Perhaps there is a new “free the chairs” activist movement that is happening.
Sending a message?
If they are sending a message, they are overestimating my ability to puzzle out hints. Just ask my wife…
There was a chair moving story in my residency that caused a kerfuffle given general lack of empathy or humor.
The room that residents staffed on weekend day and evening shifts was called the “batcave”. It was a big room with 5-6 workstations and a big ol’ defunct rolloscope in the corner. During normal working hours it was the main neuroradiology reading room for the big Catholic hospital in Roch. I was working night shifts so when I came in at 10 pm I would check in with the evening residents and then took up station at a different area, a smaller and more intimate pediatric workstation.
It could get chaotic in the batcave when there were multiple traumas. Multiple teams would descend and finding lots of room and many chairs they would quickly settle in and start placing phone calls, chattering, reviewing images on a spare workstation, etc. This was quite annoying and disruptive to some.
Apparently the crew that was on one particular weekend decided to remedy this situation by stuffing and stacking all the chairs in a separate little office off the batcave. The paucity of chairs meant no one would settle in, I guess. Unfortunately when they left for the night they did not replace the chairs, nor did they factor in that the stacked chairs would fall against the inwardly opening door.
I first became aware of this about 7:30 am as I was packing up to go home…the arriving residents and staff of course went looking for the chairs and found they could not open the door, and immediately came to me demanding to know what was going on, did I think this was a prank? I of course shrugged my shoulders and said I had no idea what was going on.
I think the responsible parties got a little tongue lashing as maintenance had to be called to help free the chairs from the room.
It has been awhile since I have read a MT novel.
Great way to start out the new week.
You’re welcome.
Had a laugh this weekend. My wife is sensitive to the smell of oil based paint; therefore, she defers any projects needing oil based paint to me.
Needed to get what will become my office desk stained so the GC can add metal legs and install. Set out two 8 foot and one 4 foot section of butcher block on sawhorses in my shop, turned the heat up to 60, and grabbed a brush and brought the stain into the shouse to warm up while I walked the dogs.
I walked over to stain the wood and she said she would be over in awhile to help me, she didn’t want to get overwhelmed by the smell. I should mention the stain is the same used for the tongue and groove ceiling in the bedroom.
I opened the can of stain, and was surprised to see it was a little chunky. Stirred it a little with the brush and thought it just needed to warm up a little more. Sanded the block and wiped it all down with mineral spirits. Eventually I got impatient and started brushing on the stain…it was thick and irregular and in no way looked like the ceiling of the bedroom…I finished one 8′ block and was frankly horrified by how it looked, at which time my wife walked in and I fully expected her eyes to pop out of their sockets.
Instead she asked how long the stain had been on the wood and pulled out a couple of rags and started wiping the wood down.
My first experience with gel stain.
I do not know this gel stain of which you speak.
News to me as well.
But then I often think ‘oblivious’ is my default setting.
I loathe any work that involves a brush. I hate painting, staining, varnishing, etc.
How’s your dental plan been treating you?
Gel stain is the devil. I hate that stuff.
I greatly enjoy the way change disrupts the workplace. I sit back with my popcorn and watch the chaos when something is rearranged at work.
Like one time a group of employees wanted to clean up a section of the office to make better use of space. The area was shambles. They asked the party responsible to please it clean up. Man, the drama that ensued. The responsible party wailed, it can’t be done! It’s impossible! We don’t have the time! It would take months! We need all of that stuff! Etc.
Finally, the manager said, “eff them. You guys clean it up how you want.”
Two guys went in and literally had the whole area ship-shape in four hours. It was great! The other group, of course, took great offense. Not only did they have to deal with change, for the better, but they had to be wrong.
We need a president like this
Hmmm, cutting government programs…seems like a good plan.
They should start with cutting the president’s office budget.

I am waiting for something to happen with the Vikings…
Sometimes it’s better if incompetent people do nothing. Plus, there’s really nothing the Vikings can do other than Kirk, Hunter or JJ extensions until mid-March.

Regarding the two “Vikings stories”
Mike Florio is like a drive by shooter.
He makes wild allegations that creates a lot of meaningless fodder, then moves on to the next victim.
I believe, all of the rumors about Jefferson wanting to break the bank and becoming a Diggs type diva, is the front office setting up to trade JJ during or before the draft.
Or it was what he actually said in a video taped interview during SB week….
I think JJ was responding to a question, that asked him if he wanted to break the bank on his deal, and he sort of played along with it. I have not seen the interview, but I think those were the reporters words, not JJ’s.
That said, JJ is self-aware. He knows he’s better than just about any other receiver in the NFL. He wants to be paid like it. “It’s not the dollars, it’s what they represent”.
Yes, KAM will be looking for a way to avoid paying JJ all that money.
I am aware he said it, I’m referring to how a few of the Vikings media are twisting it to make him look like a Diggs type diva.
Journalists twist stuff? Never. Gotta get those clicks.
Wanting to be paid as the top WR when you are arguably the best WR in the NFL isn’t really diva behavior IMO, that being said if he’s looking for 35-40 mil a year I’d prefer it be somewhere else.
Promoting statements that indicate JJ is looking for Fort Knox type money, and also that he won’t enter contract negotiations until he knows what the QB mindset of management is, sounds like a good way to turn off trade partners.
Players looking for the best deal and information about what is the best situation is pretty standard for good to elite players.
I doubt it moves the needle at all, or just a little bit.
I’m surprised at all the recent drama, tbh. He has always been a “let my performance do the talking” kind of guy.
Can’t count how many times $$ came up in the past and all he says is “the money will work itself out, I’m just concentrating on doing my best on the field.”
There really isn’t much news to speak of, so he just creates some.
