There are very many variables, not the least of which is the difference in size of the college ball to the pro ball. I remember Lamar Jackson telling folks, his first year he threw a lot of ducks. He took a while to adjust. That’s not going to be the case for every QB, but it happens. Then of course NFL defenses are off the charts harder to beat than college offenses.
Go read about all the the things Bryson Young did in college… all the great stats… all the awards he won. Went 24-3 as a starter in college. A winner! Then look at his first year in the NFL. He sucked.

What sized football do they use at the combine?
A Collage player would have 8 between the end of their playoffs and the start of regular season to ‘adjust’ as needed.

Good question on what ball they use in the combine and the pro days. One would expect the NFL coaches want to see the QB’s throw the NFL ball, and WR’s catch it.
I personally saw a reduction in how far I could throw the pro ball, and velocity, along with accuracy.
And 8 Months or more was not enough time to adjust to the difference?
Color me skeptical.

OK it goes like this.
QB’s that come from teams like Alabama sometimes have problems in the NFL. Reason – they are used to playing with an excellent line and running game, WR’s better than the DB’s of other team, and a solid defense so they seldom play from fsr behind. Thought was JJ comes from this world too. And, go take a look at the TCU game when all the favorable conditions weren’t there.
Now, just one game and college is college, but do think there is some degree of truth in the “alabama trpe” thing.

KAM said in his presser at the combine that they had a great phone call with Cousins recently. To me, that sounds like a deal was put on the table for Cousins to consider, while he waits to see what the market looks like on March 11th.
Cousins looks relaxed, warm, and confident. He looks content to me.
We should know soon enough if Kirk remains a Viking. I’d like if he’d come back for a couple moar years on a “reasonable” contract, but chances are slim for that to happen I guess.
I definitely want to see Cousins return, but as you say, I think that’s not very likely. As much as folks here and even in the media want to present Cousins as a “loser”, NFL coaches and staffs know he’s the real deal under center.
Rickie Fowler tees off at 10:13 a.m. today. Shot even par on the first day, with a lot of pars and a few birdies and bogeys. Yesterday he shot 5 under on the front, then birdied the 12th to get to 6 under with six to play. Bogeyed 2 of his last three holes of course to drop to 4 under for the tournament (and day). Hoping he can shoot 6 under today, and get near the top of the leaderboard. Watching him on the featured group on ESPN+ so I should be able to see pretty much all of his shots.

I’m still pretty sure KAM isn’t going to give Cousins a no trade clause, which is pretty much the deal breaker. Cousins wants a guarantee he isn’t going anywhere, and KAM wants flexibility.
As to who will be under center next year? Anyone’s guess. Still think Russell Wilson is in play, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Could even be Fields. No matter who we bring in, they aren’t going to be anywhere near as good as Cousins. KOC will need to simplify the passing scheme, and actually go to a more standard, West coast timing route passing game. His “adaptive” passing route scheme is going to be too hard to bring in a rookie to run, and honestly I don’t see any vets who process fast enough to run it either.
They could stick with Mullens, but I think KOC knows that isn’t going to work out too well either.
Interesting. I don’t like either. For me, think Tannehill would be a better fit, but I’d just as soon go with Mullens and draft a QB. Our offense is just fine as is, see no need to lessen it..

We are going to enjoy the sunny afternoon, 52 and no wind at all is pretty nice.
My wife said it’s cold in Stockholm. She is having a great time with her friends there though, and she said the concert last night a lot of fun. She said afterwards, the lead singer got quite drunk with her and her friends (and his wife) and was hugging her and telling her how happy he was she flew over to see him.

I’m thinking of taking my oldest to Twins opening day game and making it an annual tradition. However we tried a Saints baseball game two years ago, things did not go well. She was 3 then and is 5 now, I’m not sure I want to spend $100 on tickets and then potentially leave after 3 innings.

5 years old vs 3 years old is a HUGE difference for experience.
get her hyped up, excited for the game, explain to her how big of a deal it is, and that will hold her over for quite a while. If she gets bored, walk around the stadium, buy her a souvenir, take her up to the 3rd level and show her how far down the field is (i have never sat in the 3rd level with the peasants), get her some good food, bring snacks, it will be a great experience.
Yeah, I’m planning on doing all that, when we went to Saints game the Disney princesses were there, which she loved, but then had a meltdown after that. I sat in the 3rd level with the peasants once because I got free tickets.
Just gotta make sure she understands that this may be the last time this season the Twins have a chance at making the playoffs.
Royce Lewis gets up to the plate in todays Spring Training game with the bases load and does, guess what….hits another Grand Slam, kid still thinks its last season, love it.

Starting staff should be pretty good, Paddock returns, Lopez is as close to a #1 since probably Johan. Ryan needs to not give up so many HRs. Ober was solid last season. They should be a good team and win a bad division but we’ll see.

That’s what I’d do, speaking of which, I dropped my oldest off with grandma yesterday, wife has drill this weekend, just me and the one year old who will wake up around six, but then come sleep with me till 8 or 9, unlike her sleep terrorist sister, who still get up at 6 on the weekends and wants to eat and do stuff like watch cartoons saturday morning or play break the ice or whatever.
My wife returned last night, so my bachelor paradise existence is over again. Bye-bye clean house…
Yeah, the only positive about my wife leaving, especially deploying, is the house is relatively clean. She’s not like dirty but just stuff everywhere, like clutter.

For those who like QB stories a sort of neat analysis I heard. Pretty good as it minimized variables a lot – same team, same coaches and GM and even same opponent
It was a comparison of the two 49er SB teams under shanahan/Lynch.
Jimmy G was pretty highly paid and as such had less talent around him.
Purdy was cheap and as a result had 5 All Pros with him.
But looking at results – almost identical. W/L. td’s, completion % and everything.
And they both got to the same spot – lead in the 4th quarter of SB, and then both lost. And to the same opponent.
Not sure what it all means. But perhaps all roads lead to Rome, and all have their pot holes.
Jimmy G had just as much talent around him, most of them were on rookie contracts, I would say only CMC is major talent added. Also, he was never paid like a top QB. The Purdy 49ers lost because they couldn’t stop KC, the Jimmy ones lost because he couldn’t make critical throws.
I don’t know. – what I heard. At the tim e Jimmy G was making like 30 mil which was pretty big. And he had talent around, but not 5 All Pros.
And it did point out that Jimmy G. missed the big TDpass to Samual, but also showed that Purdy missed two much shorter TD throws in the game.
Think the point was, rookie QB you can put more talent around versus more expensive veteran with less money for talent around – both got to the same spot.
Just thought it was interesting comparison.
They weren’t All Pros because they hadn’t been in the league very long. Mostly same players though. I think whoever wrote what you read was mislead and/or dumb in terms of their conclusions. Bottom line is 49ers hit the lotto with Purdy. If they hadn’t drafted him as “Mr Irrelevent”,. rumor is he’d be a Viking as a UDFA. And similar to 49ers, he’d be surrounded by guys who are now All Pros but wouldn’t have been 2 years ago..
Once Minnesota finally gets dispensaries, we can discuss different strains of the happy plant vs different beers, while we wait for the next offseason to argue about things.

It has been brought to my attention that some people have never heard of peanut butter/pickle sandwiches.
