Vikings news
Falcons may have tampered with Cousins
Harrison Smith will be back with the Vikings, Wren is celebrating in southwest MN at the idea of more geriatric memes. In all seriousness Smith is one of the best all around Safeties in history.
QOTD
Since Smith is coming back, there is no need at Safety, where is the greatest need on D?
Don’t Be a rICHARD:
Enough name calling and nonsense. I will start deleting comments that are clearly intended to offend others, seriously, its childish and ridicuous.

- Keep politics out. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
- Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
- Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.

Dallas police on Thursday confirmed they are investigating an alleged 2017 sexual assault involving Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
The investigation is a result of a complaint filed Wednesday by a woman who alleges Prescott assaulted her in the back of an SUV seven years ago.
On Monday, Prescott filed a suit in Collin County claiming he is being extorted for $100 million by the woman and her attorneys. Separately, police in Prosper, Texas, where the quarterback lives, are now investigating Prescott’s extortion claim.
So why wait seven years to allege a sexual assault? I take criminal assaults on women seriously, but this smells like a dead fish to me.
7 years? Eff that. Money grab.
Right after he signs a new contract? Yeah, fishy to me.
Any judge with a brain should toss that.
But first they have to go thru all the motions so that they don’t get accused of ignoring/minimizing/disregarding the pain and torment that Sexual Assault Victims go thru.
Then they can throw it like it sounds like it deserves.
The Vikings have agreed to terms with WR Trent Sherfield (whoever that is). It’s a one-year deal worth $1.79 million.
Decent depth signing. UDFA with good speed (4.45). Shade over 6 foot & 200 lbs.
There’s a chance he doesn’t make it out of camp depending upon 2nd waive of FA and the draft.
Thanks. Yeah, might be a camp body.
Wonnum to Panthers? gain one lose one?
Personally, I liked Wonnum. What do we look like on the edge now?
Best case scenario we get JJ at 11 and then work on trenches. Having said that, it won’t happen.
Didn’t you see the rumor we are working with the Cardinals for the #4 pick?
Saw that. How many more rumors the next 6 weeks? Wearing on me.
Lots and lots. Best to take all with a grain of salt.
Damn tough crowd!
Someone asks me a ‘do you still beat your wife question’ and if I don’t answer to ‘fit’ the question I’m a ‘damned liar,’
Well i did answer but thought I was quite reserved under the circumstances.
But folks didn’t like that and got red flagged.
I mean shoot I was thinking about calling him an A1 asswipe given his pass at me, but didn’t.
Oh well, I’ll go take my walk of shame.
The $100 on the sidewalk question?
Depends on the circumstances, did you see someone drop it? Give it back to them.
Was it just lying there, give it to a church or do some good with it if you don’t need it to feed your family.
The Atlanta Tampering question?
Did we make an accusation or push for a result? If so I could see your point that we didn’t deserve it. But if it is the NFLs doing and they award us a extra draft pick then I don’t even know if there is a mechanism to refuse it.
Plus by rule, not created by the Vikings, tampering has a penalty.
So if proven, the Vikings did in fact earn it and deserve it.
Don’t beat you’re wife, no matter the kirkumstances
I want to say something here, but it would be inappropriate. I’m supposed to be the guy that keeps it clean.
Some people can’t play nicely. If someone disagrees with them, they get nasty.
If you are referring to me I called you a liar in reference to the $100 on the side walk question. You said you dont take things you feel you didnt earn or work for. I said so if you were offered a free private jet with a life time of fuel for free as well you would say no to it because you didnt earn or deserve it?
He better not screw this up. If he doesn’t draft one he is likely gone in a year or two, same as if he drafts the wrong one.
https://x.com/SKORNorth/status/1768365090913321471?s=20
It better be a ploy.
They’re gonna try to sit tight, miss out and end up with a draft class like this year.
https://x.com/SharpFootball/status/1768381926979534940?s=20
Draft bluster, everyone knows they’re taking a qb, unless the top 4 are gone by 11 and they couldn’t trade up
SD Highway patrol now drives Mustang gt500s kinda badass
kathy, are you in louisville?
i’m heading down to louisville next week.
crossed the border from mn to sd and immediately felt the weight of my wallet increase
Headed to Sioux Falls or Grand Falls? lol.
Back home, the hills of Dakota
Gotcha, I’m headed that way Easter Weekend. I have an uncle in Sturgis. Enjoy and safe travels!
Ladies and Gentlemen, We got him!
Jerry Tillery agrees to one-year deal with Vikings – NBC Sports
In Flores we trust.
Not great, but ok if cheap
6 ft 6, 295.
So not the bulldozer Sweat is.
Reading some comments below about good QB situations brings to mind something I was listening to today.
It appears the Cowboys have realized they are putting far to much pressure on DAK (their 60 mil guy) by not giving him a very good running game. They have been asking far to much of their passing game.
Well, guess everyone has problems to deal with.
Good thing they addressed their running game by letting Pollard walk and signing Kendricks.
Zimmer wanted someone he could trust, Kendricks is to them now what Newman was to us in 2017. Old, slow, but smart.
It’s odd he signed there considering what he said after zim left
I agree. Makes me think a lot of that negative shit about Zim might have been drummed up from up top to justify his firing. Dont get me wrong, it was time, but I dont buy the whiney ” no one said hi to me in the hall” BS. Zim gets a bad rap for being a top 5 Vikings HC of all time, and one of my personal favorites. Kirk stans just didnt like him because he didnt put up with Kirks cringy shit like a normal mad would.
Money heals many things.
So does time
Actually, I can say without a doubt that time does not heal emotional wounds.
True and money either.
Na, folks are more pissed they passed on Henry. And Pollard was never the same back after hurting is knee.
Near the sd mn border, literally just saw a tumbleweed blow across the highway lol
On I 90?
We have a few million of the ‘Russian Thistle’ around here I can send you.
Highway 23
You’re by where I grew up if you’re on 23 and close to the border.
Yeah, was just past Jasper
I have family in Jasper or use to. I grew up south of Valley Springs. Just west of 23. About a 20-25 minute drive to Jasper.
Spiff up, Buford! There’s a city-folk nearin!
Texting (or posting on a Blog) while driving?
Shame…
have someone else drive, prawfit
Falcons trading Ridder to AZ for Rondale Moore. Leaving AZ with Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch as the only 2 WR’s on the roster.
AZ likely going WR with 1.4 – unless they trade out.
Hopefully they like all of the top 3 WRs and will trade with Kwesi.
Lol, trading a bag of horse shit for a bag of pig shit
Could see KJ landing in ATL.
They need an actual NFL WR1, KJ is a 3 on any team.
Didn’t say he would be their #1, just said I could see him there. But you know what? You pay a QB 180 million dollars you expect him to make a 3 looks like a 2 and a 2 look like a 1.
This is true, but the WRs still have to be able to get open, and if they cant, then schemed open. KJ aint that guy. But him going to ATL wouldnt shock me at all.
Iggles also under investigation….
https://x.com/DanGrazianoESPN/status/1768311407710224816
Atlanta should have to give us their 1st round draft pick.
Why? Thought everyone here wanted Atlanta to take Cousins off our hands. Hell, we had guys from here going to the Atlanta site begging for it!
Doesn’t mean their 1st round pick wouldn’t help us.
when you get get what you want, it’s bad form to cry for foot faults.
Can’t always get what you want but if you try sometimes you just might find your get that you need
Thought we got what we wanted?
I want a stud rookie QB and getting Atlanta’s 1st round pick makes that easier.
Plus I want the Vikings to do well and hurting another NFC team helps the Vikings.
I will take ‘any’ good QB at this point.
Any no I don’t believe in making myself (or what I want) better by hurting my opposition.
I want to beat them straight up fair and square.
I’m a conservative, I don’t need handouts and would rather qujt and lose than take one.
But to each his own. We live in a handout society.
But is it what we need?
If you find an $100 bill on the sidewalk are you going to return it?
Icing on the cake !!!!!!
Return it where, the sidewalk?
yes. Do you just walk by it and say, “I don’t deserve it”?
Sounds like white liberal guilt.
Ben may have a better answer than me. But if this should happen and no one was around, would think it nice to take it to church and put in collections box.
Correct answer
Sir/Maam. Did you drop this? Doubt anyone in todays society would lie.
Do you understand the general meaning of my thought.?
In all my years on earth I have never found a 100 on the sidewalk.
If we had been in “serious” negotiations and Atlanta stole him. then fine – we deserve something. For some “procedural foul I don’t think so.
Now if for some reason the NFL says they deserve a fine, then take away a pick – period. but we don’t deserve it.
I KNOW we don’t deserve it, and we won’t get it…..
BUT I WANT IT!!!
WHY? Only Bernie people want stuff they don’t deserve.
You dont DESERVE a private Jet but if someone offered you one along with free fuel for life would you take it and use it? Dont say no, because you’d be a damn liar.
No I would not take that!!! And DON”T tell me about my values.
Because you might, certainly doesn’t mean others. would.
I have paid my way thru the world and not about to change now. I believe in the simple values of hard word and can get by with the rewards from such effort.
I wouldn’t take DE’s 100, 0r a 1000, or a million.
I’ll accept what I earn.
Now, as far as me being a ‘damn liar’ perhaps we can chat about that another day.
I couldn’t afford to store a free jet with free fuel.
Build a Quonset hut lol
Shit…I am a socialist at hear…..Son of a bitch…
I’m sure you’re not – wanting is different from taking.
Why would you want to return or refuse a draft pick if Atlanta effed up?
So no. I don’t get your point.
I guess it’s my values – I don’t like to take things I didn’t earn or deserve. I realize that’s ouit of step with current societal norms..
I’m no lawyer, but unlike the Trump cases in NY, in a tort type case you have to prove damages to get compensation. We were not damaged here and in fact folks here were rejoicing at the transaction
Maybe Kwesi and Kev see it as damaging because they weren’t able to have solo negotiations with Kirk for as long as they were supposed to be able to. If without tampering Kirk would have accepted a 2 year deal for a palatable price then I do feel cheated. I always said I was fine with a 2 year deal to let a rookie sit, at the right price. Atlanta pushed the price up when they weren’t supposed to be able to and Kirk wasn’t supposed to know what they would offer. I don’t think 1 first round pick is enough now that I think of it.
Same.
But do you not accept a birthday gift?
Or, if you are a believer in Jesus, do you turn down eternal life because you didn’t deserve it?
Obviously not, unless surviving for a year is considered earning it.
I take birthday gifts and I think you more than most here understand my points.
Now, the second part, little too deep today.
Fingers crossed the deal will get cancelled and Kirk comes back to Minnesota!
YESSSS!!!
LOL….
League should punish Atlanta for tampering by adding another year onto Kirks contract and making the full thing guaranteed.
And double the salary.
Or just wipe out the dead hit he has with the Vikings.
Id be fine with that. But now that free agency is winding down what would we do with that extra cap space?
Give more to JJ this year to keep as much cap space as possible next year.
Saw a meme about the Falcons passed on signing a 26 yo Lamar Jackson for 200 million for 4 years and instead the next year signed a 36 yo Cousins with a blown Achilles for 180 million for 4 years haha.
200 mil and 3 first round picks for Lamar, nowhere near worth that
Yeah. The meme kind of forgot about the draft picks involved.
Still made me giggle.
Good sutff
To date I haven’t been impressed with our new GM. However, I appreciate him actually doing something in free agency versus Rick who would wait until the 4th round of free agency and pick up some nobody that was just a camp body.
True.
To be fair, Rick had bad contracts that tied his hands on FA.
That’s on Rick.
KAM has cleaned out the bad contracts.
I think he’s done well navigating Rick’s terrible cap management and his trades for players but have been underwhelmed with the drafts overall
I think thats a fair assessment. Aside from the draft and them resigning Kirk when they first came in, he’s been passable in my book.
Last draft was decent but the first one… 10 pounds of suck stuffed in a five pound bag
Yeah I was livid with that draft, between the Kirk extension and that first draft I just felt defeated as a fan. The complete opposite that I feel right now.
Other than the trade, I’ll give Kwesi a bit of a pass on the first draft. Came in late with Rick’s scouts who had been looking at players through the eyes of Zim. I think that is why there was some improvement last year and I expect even more this year.
Fine them a 3rd rounder. I’d love it.
I doubt anything happens.
But I’d love it as well.
That’d float our way right? Bunch of fuckin dirty birds!
It was pretty blatant. They went after fins pretty hard, don’t see how they sweep under the rug.
Who the hell gives this a thumbs down? Not that i give a rats ass.
No.
If they are found “guilty”, they lose a pick.
Nothing extra would come to the Vikings.
The league has taken picks and given them to the other team before. I think it was the Niners and Bears.
Give us a bunch of picks. Lot a Herschal Walker bunch of picks. Let’s see what Kwesi can do with them.
You are correct Bow.
Doesn’t happen much though.
It’s usually been a loss of a pick.
If there wasn’t tampering here, they may as well do away with the rule. No way all of this was put together in two hours.
Well, it’s more about speaking with Atlanta’s medical staff.
That can’t happen until the deadline.
Discussions from Agent and ownership can happen for the 52 hours up to the deadline.
i believe this whole deal was done some time ago. And from looking around I’m starting to think or wonder that the Vikings front office may not have cared that much.
It probably was.
Which when Kirko spoke at his introductory presser, he gave up too much information.
Yep, already studying film of Atlanta receivers. No way things happen this fast.
Parting gift for Minnesota?
No.
Beaker doing beaker things.
Already folding under pressure.
OK, that makes sense.
I get the tampering rule, but from what I’ve read many times over the years, everyone does it behind the scenes at the Combine.
Yes.
But I don’t think team doctors are involved, which I believe is the issue.
It’s mostly ownership/GM and agent tampering that’s allowed.
Of course they do, but they don’t admit it. By admitting it you give the league a black eye. If they get punished, its not for the tampering, it’s for making the league look bad.
Mostly true.
But it’s awfully selective.
I kind of got a feeling that if the Patriots are involved with BB, it gets more attention from the league.
“The Falcons may have tampered with Cousins.”
I thought we weren’t supposed to kink shame?
The punishment should be commensurate with the contract he signed similar to compensatory picks. AKA, the Falcons should forfeit the #8 overall pick (that’s a little serendipitous) to the Vikings.
Don’t answer my kink shame post with a serious response.
It was supposed to be on DE’s. Oops
Depends on the Kink.
Ha!
Where’s Skolly? Thought for sure he wander in this week.
https://x.com/ScottBarrettDFB/status/1768057555668877758?s=20
There were a couple of new posters earlier this week???
I’m pretty sure one was new and the other is somebody everybody would know under a different name.
Mystery?!?
5? Kodiak? Lifer? Gone Fishing??
I miss all of them
I miss one of them.
Except he doesn’t throw as many touchdowns to the opposition as he does his own team
Not news as if they are doing their job they should call every team from 1-10, but here it is anyway.
https://x.com/VikesCentral/status/1768293412459946242?s=20
OK, let’s say, hypothetically, they get the #4 pick. How comfortable are we that whoever they pick will be an all world, NFL player?
I am very confident there is a chance.
It’s part of ‘go get your guy’.
Doing due diligence.
Besides if he sucks the GM won’t be around to deal with the aftermath and if he doesn’t suck it’s a big win.
The only correct way of thinking for Kwesi going into this draft.
https://x.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1762658013800710586?s=20
Love that quote, have the balls to just say fuck it
Much more comfortable than any QB they would pick after the 1st round.
My opinion: 50/50. Total coin flip. But I think it’s a gamble a championship-starved franchise has to make. And this one never has. We’ve taken 2 top 15 pick QB’s in my lifetime: Daunte Culpepper and Christian Ponder.
There is no guarantee whoever is taken will be an all-world player. It’s a total gamble.
Agree
Just listen to Mel Kiper and the experts.
They will slow you the way.
There is no way to know if ANY player drafted is an all world NFL player.
By that logic, we shouldn’t draft anybody because it might fail.
I was thinking return on investment, actually. And you are absolutely correct DE. There is no way to know if ANY player drafted is an all world NFL player.
Because the odds of drafting an all world player is about 0. And at the QB position, getting a franchise type QB is far worse than 50/50.
Fair enough.
It’s a crap shoot.
Does any position drafted have better odds of hitting versus another position?
Based on my Vikings knowledge, CB’s have to be the worst.
You have a point there.
Does not need to be all world. Kirk is not all world.
Mahomes is, and a few others are.
I just want someone good enough to win a championship either while on the rookie deal, or shortly after that when the cap hit is not crazy.
To me “all world” is wrong and like playing roulette and picking a number.
Better and more realistic is to draft a franchise QB (very good or so) that can start for 10 years.
Thinking you are going to draft a Mahomes – probsbly the greatest QB to ever play- go buy a lottery ticket.
Yeah, but this is an easy justification for accepting mediocrity.
No way this is not accepting mediocrity. Realism. is far, far from that.
And the idea that if you don’t play, you can’t win is why the world is full of losers. Winners go about it in a very different manner and thought process.
Yep
I am leery of getting a early first round qb, but at this point in time with Cousins gone, why not take a wild shot? We may get lucky. Whatever else we do will probably not be a success.
For me, I think it’s “lucky” to simply get a franchise QB that is very good and can start for 10 years. That is great. And if draft in the first round an d get that – wonderful.
Worrying about drafting a “Mahomes” – will almost always lead to disappointment.
I don’t expect we will get a “Mahomes”. I would be thrilled if we did. I’m hoping for someone like you said that would be a franchise qb for a decade. We are the Vikings, so I am expecting to be disappointed on draft day.
Depends who the pick is
No one being drafted is an all world NFL player…yet…thats why you draft them. The draft fear mongering has to stop with this fanbase, its exhausting. “YOU CANT GURANTEE THE PLAYER IS GONNA BE GOOD SO WHY EVERN DRAFT THEM” What kind of mentality is that?
It can be an exhausting world at times – that’s Why God gave us alcohol.
Out of interest who here specifically said – YOU CANT GUARANTEE THE PLAYER IS GONNA BE GOOD SO WHY EVERN (?) DRAFT THEM.
That is indeed strange mentality.
Who said it?
I’m right at 2%.
I’ve really done some thinking on this years draft. A lot of bad teams, Jets, Bears, Panthers and Browns, have gone after the QB in the draft with high picks. All of this was done before they built a team that can support a rookie quarterback. A lot of times this has lead to an otherwise good QB getting ruined, being on a bad team.
Other teams, such as the 9ers, Chiefs, Bills etc. have built a team that could weather a rookie QB.
Are the Vikings good enough as a team to support a rookie QB, and just throw him out there to become a good NFL QB? At this point I would say no. Yes, we have some great offensive pieces, but we also have a porous IOL. We are working on building a stout defense, but I am not sure we are there yet.
Should we use this years draft to build up the OL and DL, before we try to bring in a rookie QB and throw him to the lions?
Most here won’t agree with you, but your thought process is solid and worthy of consideration.
I don’t follow college football enough, but what does the qb field look like next year?
At this point decent not great
The Vikings are better than most or any team to be in a position to draft one of the top talents and have offensive weapons to help a young player out. If you wait until you’ve built a team good enough to win with anybody you will not be in position to draft one of the top guys and you don’t know if there even will be a good QB available. What if you are in position to finally draft a guy and it’s a draft like a couple years ago with Kenny Pickett as the top guy?
Don’t think this is quite true. The best friends of a young QB are a running and a screen game – we are terrible at both. It also helps to have a solid defense to take pressure of the need to keep scoring. we don’t have that either.
So – it’s our passing game and we run probably the most complicated schemes in the league. This is a very, very tough situation for a young QB.
You correct these shortcomings, and a young QB’s chance for success go up exponentially.
Yes, it is much better to go to a team like the Panthers who had no running game and their best WR was Thielen last year. Compared to most teams in a position to get a top guy, they are light years ahead.
that makes zero sense and is side stepping the points presented. Are we a better situation than the Panthers – yes.
Are we better than SF or maybe the Browns – no.
Do you want to address the specific points I made? I don’t care if you really don’t, but don’t understand your need to answer narratives that ‘aren’t’ presented.
And WTF, I thought I left DC and all the Patomac two steps
The Vikings offense is good enough to help a young QB develop and the defense doesn’t matter. If you wait until you have a perfect team to get a QB you will never get one or you won’t be in a position to get one. The Vikings will not be in a better position to get a franchise QB than they are today. Kirk getting hurt last year put them in position to put a young QB in a good situation. Add to that the fact that you have Darnold, Mullens and Hall at the moment, the rookie is not forced to play this year which gives you 2 drafts and another 1 1/2 free agency periods to improve the team while the rookie gets comfortable with life in the NFL. Now is the perfect time to get the guy.
Don’t believe I said wait for “perfect” – please.
i am fine with drafting a QB – that again was not the point.
Defense – when your defense gives up a lot of points, puts pressure on offense (QB) to keep up. So, defense does matter.
Since we don’t run the ball and the other defense knows that, Kirk would come to the line, audible the play, after snap, defense changes. coverage, receivers change routes, QB then adjusts, and throws with anticipating where WR is suppose to be going.
You and i live in. different worlds if you think that is a great position to put a young QB in.Better to hand off some, run some screens.
So, let the young QB sit and learn until he is ready.
Now, if we had CMC and Kittle, I’m fine with him playing handing off and throwing screens and 5 yard hitches – right off the bat. But we are far, far from that.
That’s why they signed Jones
Does he block defensive tackles.
No, he runs around them
If he’s left in for protection and they get past the guards and center.
It was a joke (poor one). Our line allows penetration on just about every running play. Although Matteson had poor vision, any running play regardless of back is going to have problems because of that. blocking must be fixed.
I think we are pretty close as well. I would like to see us pick up an IOL either in the draft or the FA market.
I also think if we stand pat with our pick, and the QB is there take him otherwise pick a stud Dlineman.
Their pass defense is porous so yeah I would
Give the bitch life in prison

Fed indictment. Whatever stretch she gets she’ll do the full haul.
Fed prisons are either Club Med or SuperMax.
Absolutely. Doesn’t feel like a Club Med crime/criminal to me. 3 first responders killed? Maybe she’s got political connections/influences that can help her but I’m guessing she’s not connected enough for a Club Med sentence.
She didn’t do the killing, just bought the guns for a spouse/friend/lover/whatever.
She/it will claim she didn’t know they would be used to kill cops and she might get probation and some new fancy ankle jewelry for awhile.
I’d be stunned if she only got probation. 3 dead. Regardless is she did the killing or not, she’s doing time.
Obviously racist against one of the Alphabet People.
She will be in jail for life or free on bond depending on how she/he/it identifies themselves.
Does she donate to any particular political party?
That’s also a deciding factor.
I believe she is of a certain skin tone that will help her.
She’s white
She’s

Guys apparently we’re losing our minds… I was unaware!
The alleged offer was interesting: Tee Higgins and 2 1sts? Giving us 1.18 to go with 1.11. Higgins would also need to get paid but would be cheaper than JJ.
Not a bad offer if true, but higgens is good but nowhere near jj, though paired with Addison would still be a dynamic duo
I like JJ and want him to remain a Viking.
But this offer (if true) would’ve allowed us to get some major talent this year as well as stacking us with 2 1st rounders for next year.
Higgins is no JJ. But Higgins paired with JA would be dynamic. As would adding the game wrecker DT we need at 1.18.
Its all conjecture at this point, but I think I’d make that deal.
I know I would make that deal.
I am already tired of the JJ drama. Get what you can and move on, or franchise him next year. If he sits out a year, bye
Trade 11, 18, for a top three pick and take a qb, prawfit
I’d trade 11 and the 2nd 1st offered in the deal (2025) and trade up for top 3 QB. Then use 1.18 and the 2nd rounder to address Defense.
This would be a better deal for us, with JJ, Chase and Burrow on the same team, Next years 1st would be closer to a 2nd round pick.
It’s just funny the losing their minds part lol.
The poster probably regularly visits Skoloholics. We loose our minds everyday about everything.
True
It’s going to be hard to trade JJ after the unequivocal denial of wanting to trade JJ.
Not saying it can’t happen, but it would have to be such a ridiculous offer that you can’t so no to, in order to back track from the original position Kwesi/KOC took.
Yep. If Cincy wants him I would not accept any less than Burrow and Chase.
Why players do it, just ask it’s not about the money Cousins lol. (I actually don’t think it was, I think it was obvious Kirk wasn’t KOC’s guy, so good on him for getting what he could get)
Would bet that KC was KOC’s guy, but not KAM’s.
I think he wants a more athletic guy for his ideal offensive system.
Don’t think so. When the Rams could go get any QB in the NFL, they went and got Stafford. KOC was there and thinks like McVay – they want a QB that can ‘win’ from the pocket. And given the complexity of the scheme, that is not easy to find.
They couldn’t get any qb in the nfl, they could get a very limited qbs, stafford was the best available, wasn’t a difficult decision
Actually MCVay meet Stafford on vacation in Cabo. MCvay was upset with Goff missing throws and reads. He went to the RAMS GM and ownership and said get me ‘this’ guy. – no matter the cost.
That sounds like tampering and their SB victory should be vacated and given to the Lions.
JJ is gone imo.
Offer was 30 mil/year prior to 2023? He is gonna want 40.
He can go away. Use the draft haul to get your QB, a wr, and a DT
Sometimes it’s who you let go not so much who you sign.

Thielen was decent in Carolina, not worth that contract but about all they had going.
100+ rec, 1,000+ yds
Bit of a biased article. The really big ‘call’ is the QB question, and that has yet to play out.
But like the article state, Thielen was decent because he was the only guy to throw to.
It’s almost like Rick would get talent but would overpay and it’s also almost like we are still having to pay for that over spending…
From my point of view , this is all low hanging fruit stuff. I would say KAM did a great job signing Hockenson from the Lions, but everything else was just standard stuff a GM does, to manage the cap and contracts. Releasing Cook, and promoting Mattison as the starter, may be one of the single dumbest personnel moves I’ve ever seen though.
Well, Cooks salary was way too high and he wouldn’t budge.
That was the reason for the move. Cap space.
Yes, but the second part was the dumb part. Mattison as the starter? Come on man.
Mattison was a gamble and it turned out poorly.
Did he or was that the better situation in the end? What was the other option? Overpay big time for Cook?
Cook was overpaid and getting wore out. But there had to be someone better than Mattison.
There was. Akers. Then his Achilles shot craps too.
Yeah, but Akers was used as the reliever, not the starter.
Akers was looking good for about 30 seconds.
Agree, first part good second part bad
Do you think Cook would have been a major factor had he stayed on the Vikings? His 214 yards he got for the Jets says No to me.
I actually do. We had ‘zero’ running game. At least with Cook, he may strike out a lot, but does hit a homerun once in a while.
Well, cook was paid a ton and sucks so from a cap standpoint is was the right move, Mattison also sucks though
I would say, thinking Mattison would replace Cook was a bad thought. But, letting Cook go was not a bad move.
Kwesi will finally be free of all the dead cap /oversized contracts he inherited after 2024.
While this draft is huge, what he does with all contracts from here on out are on him alone. He gets a pass for me a bit on contracts during this off season with all the dead cap hit, but next year he gets no excuses. Every single thing is on him.
Last night I watched the official Sam Darnold highlight reel.
Have to say, I was impressed with his rushing TDs – there were several, and most all of them put Kirk to shame.
When he evaded the rush it didn’t look like a Beaker.
Yeah, more like this

Hair is a perfect match…….
So is the noggin.
Dobbs has had some excellent runs as well, can’t throw the ball, but he can run!
Lets hope Darnold’s abysmal throwing numbers are a function of the shitty teams he has played on.
I guess as of yesterday, Darnold is our new starting QB. Has some talent, and maybe with some of KOC’s coaching talent, he’ll turn out just fine.
If Mullens can throw for 800 yards in two games, Darnold can throw for 4000 over a season.
Based on mullens throwing for 800 in two games, Mullens would throw for an NFL record 6800 yards, he would also throw around 35 interceptions. Either way, darnold sucks
35 picks still wouldn’t be the most thrown in a season.
That was George Blanda – with 42. In a 14 game season.
Blanda sucks cut him
Can’t. He’s ded.
Cut his corpse
that feels unnecessary.
Well, I’m in favor of overkill
I think ‘Abuse of a Corpse’ is an actual crime, not to mention Creepy as hell.
Don’t care, he sucks so bad he deserves it!
He was a better kicker than QB but he could QB in a pinch.
Darnold has some arm talent for sure. Made a couple of ‘wow’ throws his first few years in NY – problem is he’d immediately follow a ‘wow’ throw with a head-shaker. But there is talent there. Some decent mobility too.
A full compliment of our skill position players (provided Hock comes back healthy at some point) gives him the most talent he’s played with. He had DJ Moore and CMC for a time in Carolina but I’d argue that JJ, JA, Hock and now Jones are a better set of weapons to deliver the ball to.
I don’t expect he’ll set the world on fire, but I’ll remain optimistic until the wheels completely fall off.
Perfect World: He’s outplayed by a rookie in camp and we’ve got a great backup for a year.
I firmly believe ‘coaching’ is important. Mental mistakes can be corrected (coached) – not lack of arm talent. Mullens threw interceptions last year, not because of bad decisions, he just didn’t have the juice to get the ball there quick enough.
Darnold has the arm. – can KOC help him with the mental so, I believe he can.
I agree. Coaching is huge. Guy was talented enough to be taken 3rd overall (many believed he was 1.1 at the time) Guys like that fail all the time: Leif, Mirer, Akili Smith, Couch…..
Darnold is in that category: a high 1st round pick failure. But he’s also only 26. There’s still time to salvage a decent player out of him. Or hopefully there is.
Geno Smith type resurgence would be awesome. He plays well for a couple weeks, rookie is ready to roll, trade Darnold for a 4th or 5th before the trade deadline.
That’s actually who I was thinking of when we signed Darnold. ‘Maybe he can do what Geno did?’
geno played well all season – can’t we expect that Darnold will do that too?
Absolutely coaching is important.
But you can’t coach decisions made by the QB when stuff breaks down or running the two minute offense.
I doubt Darnold has the full between the ears stuff.
Which is why he has been a career backup.
I worry less about when things break down – that’s very much the minority of the time. Most young guys, and appearantly Darnold at this point, can’t execute well on script.
With our offense, 95% of the time, the plays are there to be made but you need to execute.
Execute darnold
vacation brings out your bloodlust.
Feeling great, super facetious!
I can tell.
Damn Ben you’re tuff today. I’m trying to be positive.
You eat some bad cocoa puffs.
Actually stopped at my college stomping grounds for lunch at the place with the best paninos I’ve ever had, so full
Was only a backup the last two years.
Drafted 1.3 by NY and was the starter there aside from injury/illness.
Traded to Carolina and started majority of the year, splitting snaps with Cam Newton at the end of the year. Lost starting gig competition to Baker Mayfield his last year in Carolina and was the backup.
Brought into SF as the backup last year.
Not a career backup.
Ok sure.
My point is that he hasn’t been all that special.
Whether he was the actual back-up or the starter.
I got your point DE. Until he was signed by Minnesota I think he was on the ‘career backup’ trajectory, and probably still is barring some sort of major resurgence.
He took the starting job from Teddy, twice.
Was he that good of a starter?
He started for a total shit Jets team and then a total shit Panthers team that was bad and then got worse by getting rid of CMC. Just thought I’d remind everybody that he was deemed better than Teddy by 2 different organizations.
Makes me think the guy may well work out.
And he was cut by both organizations…
Hoof GP had the gushiest cow hoof I had ever seen a couple of days ago. Seemed like a pint of fluid came out of that thing.
Poor cow…
QotD:
Defensive tackle – preferably T’Vondre Sweat.
Adding another corner (Xavien Howard?) would also be a good thing considering our injury luck.
Skol!
In my Mocks I try to get QB, (JJ, Daniels, Nix) DT/NT (Sweat, M. Jackson), OC (Frazier, Nourzad), DBs (DeJean, Nubin, + CB or two) LB, OG, TE.
Cooper DeJean is intriguing to me. Coming off the injury I’m wondering if he falls to far enough in day 2 that we could snag him with a 4th – which I doubt.
DeJean is about the best DB in the draft, mostly going late 1st early 2nd. Might be there at 42 but would rather have Sweat or Frazier there.
Of course who knows what will actually happen.
A white guy cannot be the best DB in the draft, that’s racist
Well ‘White = Racist’ so the logic tracks.
I think he is too and I agree that DT is more important. He’s coming off a broken leg in November. Don’t know if that’s enough to make him drop very far. Likely not.
Very much looking forward to Smith being around and getting a chance to break Atlanta’s new QB in half with a free safety blitz.
I think he is like half a sack away from some sort of record. Don’t remember what it was but I read something last night about it.
It would be great if they start the season against Atlanta on Monday night and Harry gets it.
That would be very sweet indeed.
Fun fact: he’s a half sack from being one of the six players all time to have 1,000+ career combined tackles, 20+ career sacks, and 30+ career interceptions. HOF for sure.
He should be, but he has never played in a super bowl, so that works against him.
I think being a Viking works against him.
Jim Marshall has way better stats than others in the HOF.
He ran the wrong way, that’s why he isn’t in
One of the main reasons for sure.
Still has better numbers than others already in the HOF.
That’s the one I was thinking of.
I think we need at least one proven CB added to the roster.
Booth is ready to step in.
Right now our CB room is this:
Byron Murphy Jr
Andrew Booth
Joejuan Williams
Akayleb Evans
Mekhi Blackmon
AJ Green
Josh Metellus
NaJee Thompson
Jaylin Williams
So, maybe we need TWO proven CBs…………..
I think Blackmon improves this year. He wasn’t bad last year.
Improvement from Blackmon, Murphy wasn’t bad and Booth showed some promise when he was on the field. I would not be against getting some help there and I would absolutely target at least one in the draft, but I don’t think it’s a dire position.
especially with better LB coverage, in which Cashman and Van Ginkel both graded well
Cashman!
YUCK! At the end of the day I feel confident in whatever Flores has. He’ll make it work to the best of the ability of the guys he has there.
Murphy good
Blackmon serviceable as a rookie, should better next year
Evans inconsistent
booth, well when he wasn’t injured last year he was ok but you can’t depend on him
Metellus isn’t a CB
the rest meh or trash
the Vikings under Flores rarely play 3 cbs, they play 3 safeties so they need a dependable depth 3 rd corner
Is that the same as “break out”?
Breakout is a decent song by Shooting Star
He played competently the second half of the season
Better than Cine who has not been seen at least.
The lowest of bars, also I miss fil
I laugh every time I see this gif.
I would agree. Flores was working with a pretty weak deck last year, across the board. Need a shutdown corner.
At this point, and probably for some time, pressure is more important than coverage.
Quicker pressure means less time in coverage. A good pass rush can hide iffy coverage and without pressure even the best corners are eventually going to get burned.
You can get fairly far in playoffs with pressure and a less than stellar secondary. Believe both SF and Eagles did it couple of years back.
And getting pressure, with out having to blitz much, is really important.
True, but we’re in the same boat as last year (right now at least – maybe they add a young stud in the draft) with only one Edge that can get consistent pressure but hasn’t played a snap with the team.
Has Wonnum signed anywhere yet?
Visiting Bears and Panthers.
He showed improvement last year, but his 8 sacks pale to Hunter’s 16, when you consider offenses would be paying more attention to Hunter.
8 sacks is decent though if he’s a complimentary player – say Chicago for example, they already have Montez Sweat, Wonnum could be a decent complimentary player there. He’s just not ‘the guy’ on a defense.
What Northwoods meant to say is “Yes”
I’m all for getting a good CB. But given the choice, I’ll take pressure. For sure, both would be great.
So far, KAM has added Blake Cashman, Jonathan Greenard, and Andrew Van Ginkel, to our defense, who I assume are all expected to start. What else should we do to help Brian Flores? Personally I want the DT from Texas Byron Murphy, or his gigantic, 362 lb playing partner, T’Vondre Sweat.
It would be great to have a bulldozer in the middle of the D Line.
I would love to get Sweat. Christian Haynes would be great as well on the offense. I think he’s moving up the boards so likely only get one of Haynes/Sweat, especially since the Vikes don’t have a 3rd unless they get Atlanta’s for tampering.
Well, no one in the Falcons front office ever directly spoke to Cousins before March 11th, so people can scream “tampering” all they want. No league rules were actually violated, so no tampering occurred. Cousins said he spoke with Pitts, and he talked to Drew Brees about some things. No tampering at all.
He also said he spoke to the Falcons staff prior to the opening of free agency which is against the rules and is the definition of tampering.
I don’t think so, actually. As I understand it, only front office personnel are forbidden from directly contacting the player until the start of the new year. If I understand it correctly, Cousins could talk to anyone he wanted except the actual front office personnel.
https://x.com/DanGrazianoESPN/status/1768311407710224816?s=20
Correct, though Falcon players were contacting him
Yes, just Pitts though. That said, there is no rule against players talking to players as I understand it.
That would be ludicrous since they work out together in the offseason.
Yeah, players talk about everything. Life, love, contracts, teams, and even football.
there is no way under the sun thst there had been no contact, and this type of deal was worked out and completed (including press release) in a 2 hour window. especially for a player with an injury. this was a big time deal and no way two hours was enough time
And didn’t his wife post a video of them loading the car to go to Atlanta right after it was announced? They were already packed, but that is normal. I think where the league might have an issue is that it has been admitted to. Everybody does it, everybody knows it, but you don’t admit it and make the league look bad.
Yep.
DL and QB should be the draft focus.
Chomp Robinson
Chomp Chop either way
DT comes to mind but that secondary…
Couldn’t help myself I searched “Buzz woof” and this came up hahaha. The RNC tools will get their thumbs down clicks ready!!!!
Secondary is fine so long as there aren’t injuries
wat? You feel comfortable with our corners going up against good WRs? Really?
They were fine until the injuries to the pass rushers and then cbs
Yep, interior pass rush is the only thing left that is a real need, cb depth would be nice as well.
Yes, if no QB in round one, this is the route I would go also. Get that big beast in the middle of our d-line.
What part of cheeseland? I’m in the west central part.
The cheese part
To keep people from breaking into your house, just leave your keys outside so they can have your car.

Or, buy a gun and defend yourself.
I prefer a 12 guage shotgun, personally.
Oh yeah, Canadia frowns upon that.
At least we have a strong leader.

I miss lifer at times like this, he’d be able to interpret that jargon
Don’t worry, he’s only the guy who has his finger on the nuclear button.
He doesn’t have his hand on anything. He’s told what to do, when, where what, how much etc… It’s truly sad, and this moron is going to run a whole campaign? I don’t think they have enough uppers to have him make it through the whole campaign like they did last time. A literally babbling old fool for fuck sake.
They’ll give him so many uppers that his heart finally fails. Then they don’t have to go through the embarrassment of replacing him while also gaining a sympathy vote for Kumala.
Almost as scary is Trump’s heart could go at any minute. Dude is clearly operating at a higher level than Biden but he seems like one of those ticking time bomb old men who refuse to do much of anything healthy lol.
Big Macs are healthy.
Really, guess I know what I am having for lunch! lol
As long as you wear good running shoes over and back to get one.
I’m having some Huel Hot and Savory and a protein brownie lol. Didn’t run yesterday and today my foot feels better than it has in a week. I think one more week and I’ll be good.
He drinks diet coke, clearly he is a health nut.
He could be dead and propped up by a board and most of the dems would still vote for him.
I’m not convinced he isn’t already but yeah, a weekend at Bernie’s situation
Same goes for Trump and the Repubs… what’s your point? Both sides are full for fools who are tools… been saying it for a very long time.
My point is that we are currently talking about Biden. So I made a comment about Biden. Some times you are too easily triggered.
Here you go.
Trump could be dead and propped up by a board and all of the right wing repubs would still vote for him.
MeChu, will Biden get 90 million votes in 2024?
I like MeChu. She has all the answers!
Unfortunately I believe you are correct.
The DOJ is doing its very best to make sure as many undocumented and or non-existent people can vote as possible.
Then the ghost ballot harvesting will ensue. And SURPRISE! Biden wins the election.
Unfortunately, for all the chest pounding and popping off we do, Biden will probably win the election. Got a feeling this is going to be a shit year.
Yeah something bad is coming. Just a matter of what and when.
This is fine.

Thank you. How though?
Did that just happen recently?
I’m not sure but I doubt it. I think Lemon was fired from CNN awhile ago.
What the fuck On God’s flat earth is he even trying to say
lol, my fleet manager used to leave our vehicles unlocked when I first started my job, his logic was there’s nothing to steal in them and it was better so they didn’t damage them, I said what do you think our insurance company would say if they just steal the vehicle? Needless to say I changed things.
I actually lucked out and forgot to lock my camper when I left it in storage a few years ago. Some people got in and broke a bunch of doors to get in them. My door was unlocked and there was nothing inside but a couple helmets. I lost the helmets but didn’t have to replace the door.
I remember seeing a celebrity interview, can’t remember who, but they said they took self defense classes, and the first thing they were told was to carry a couple thousand dollars cash on them. That way if they get mugged, the thief will take the money and not harm them.
I was told, when traveling, carry enough money to keep from being killed. Too little money, and you could be killed for spite. Too much money and you could be killed for fear you might have connections or capability to retaliate on the robber. In those days we were advised that $300 was the right amount.
I don’t know if this was good advice or not, but I followed it.
With inflation you only need to carry 5 g’s now. Assuming that your advice was given about 4 years ago anyway.
Or maybe………………..have stricter punishments to discourage crime from happening?
RACIST!!!!

Rock on!
Crazy it was 4 years ago, basically what has become the band I am in now did a song together. I had this idea, it was during the covid shut downs. I had these riffs of a song lying around and reached out and everyone recorded their parts separate and sent them to me and then I mixed it all. It was a mixing nightmare but kept me busy lol. Turned out pretty decent. The only difference is the bassist is from Canada on this track so had to get someone closer to home for the current band haha.
So, you’re saying the bassists part was in metric and the rest was in imperial, so you had to multiply the bassist tempo by 25.4 to get the rhythm correct.
HAHAHA! luckily BPM is universal. But that guy was so good he learned to song by ear. Or almost totally by ear. I didn’t have to show him much of anything.
At this point we have to face facts. Harrison Smith is likely a 1,000-year-old vampire.
Fun fact: if Harrison plays two more years he will new the second HOF Vikings safety to wear #22 AND retire at the age of 37.
Paul Krause – interception record holder.
Yes Sir.
Fond memories of the purple people eaters!
Amen Brother, some great teams!
Paul Krause was my favorite player in the NFL when he was playing, back in the day.
Paul Krause didn’t want to hit anybody!
He was PrimeTime before there was PrimeTime
But I liked him anyway.
Anyone remember Brian Russell at safety?
He had an interception in each of the first six games one season.
Now there was a whitey safety!
I think Robert Griffith was one of my first favorite players.
My favorite Vikings safety is still Joey Browner.
Dude was super strong with his Kung Fu grip.
Joey Browner…unlike Paul Krause, Joey Browner was going to attack with evil intent.
I liked Browner until I found out he was business partners with Sterling Sharp. How could he betray the Viking fanbase like that.
Sterling was a stud, injuries derailed his career
Yes he was.
He was a waste of talent on those horrific GB teams.
Yeah, felt the same about him as I did about Favre, hated him for being a packer but respected the shit out of him for how good he was. Also his brother is an idiot, though he was incredibly talented as well
I’ve loved Joey Browner since he dropped Mike Renfroe on his head.
Not as much as sendejo
He can join up with Kate…

https://twitter.com/SkolBros/status/1768293940057227746?s=20
So… he’s still in his prime!
Harrison Smith’s cap hit this year was $19.2M. He has restructured to play for $9M now. I assume that means we are adding around $10.2M to our cap with this move, but I’m not for sure.
He’ll get paid 9 mil but I would think the cap hit is higher, maybe I’m wrong though
Well I know coming into the year, all $19.2M owed to him was part of the cap hit. I can only assume the restructure changes that, but like you, dunno how it will be factored.
Ok, so at least 2 mil is added from previous restructure so his cap hit is at least 11 mil from what I looked up
You’re a better man than me…
lol doubtful
Cap math weird… 19-9=????? lol
I should say 19-10 but it’s the same result…?????
Depends on if it is a pay cut or if they are just pushing dollars into the future.
Just a pay cut. Not the stupid push it into the future crap.
The Cap Math always confuses me.
It truly is a myth
🤣
I don’t see this as anything but absolutely truthful. KAM wasn’t interested in keeping Cousins long term. He was basically looking to have him here for 2024 then trading or cutting him. That’s why he turned down the Cousins offer last June, and that’s why I said then it was over in Minnesota for Cousins.
Yep, seemed clear that he wanted a contract that would take him to retirement no matter where
He did, and he wanted to do that with the Vikings as he said. Unfortunately, the math just didn’t work out here. KAM couldn’t guarantee three more years. Just the way it shook out.
Yeah, I think his preference was Minnesota and second choice was Atlanta
Agreed, I wish we could have kept him, but the math simply did not work for KAM’s plan.
He will retire with whatever team makes the final severe overpayment for his services.
His agent will find him another team once ATL cleans house in 2 years.
Wanna bet?
You can tell me “I told you so” when I am wrong.
I get that a lot.
Kirk is a classy guy. I cannot dispute that.
Correct.
Quote from 2017.
It’s nothing more than media speak BS.
I’m surprised people actually believe this garbage.
Yes, Cousins wanted to stay with the Redskins. GM Bruce Allen who was butthurt about Cousins usurping RGIII refused to offer a contract worth signing though. Cousins wouldn’t sign the worthless contracts and played on the franchise tag, hoping his performance would change Allen’s mind, and he would sign Cousins to an appropriate deal. Allen never did though, and after tagging Cousins twice, he let him walk in free agency, and brought in Alex Smith on a big contract. We all know how that turned out for the Redskins.
I don’t know why you are hell bent on misrepresenting Cousins.
Not Kirk’s fault RGIII was ass
Indeed, and I would say he still is…
Cousins will turn 36 in August, meaning he will be 39 years old in his final season with the Falcons. Cousins is currently set to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2027 campaign.
The Vikings refused to guarantee Cousins beyond 2024. What would you do?
I would thank my agent for getting me all the money, and take the money and run.
I would also be honest about going to the team that will pay the most for my services, just like when I am looking for contract work and have multiple options.
Bill rate, work hours expected, off hours support needed, etc, all factored in. But in the end, it was all about the money.
Whether you agree with it or not, Cousins talent level demands a salary similar to what the Falcons offered. He is one of the most accurate passers in the league, one of the most productive QB’s in the league (from 2018-2022 only three QB’s threw more TD’s than Cousins, and in 2023 he was leading the league in TD’s when he was injured), he’s a proven leader, and tough as nails. In short, Cousins is the total package, and everything you want in a QB. He got what he has earned throughout his career as a starter.
I agree with his pay. It is obviously the market value. I am glad my favorite team is out from under the huge contract.
The trade off is we now hope the team picks a decent rookie QB vs spending a huge amount for a known player.
Yes, KAM is obviously putting the Vikings fiscal house in order, and simply couldn’t keep going with Cousins contracts. Just business.
As you said though, now he has to come up with a top shelf QB.
Same caproate robot PR speak we got half a decade ago. Like, exactly the same. lmao
“Sharif don’t like it….”
Great song for the current Vikings makeover.
We might be better at linebacker, edge is about the same, and I’d say much better at RB.
Obviously I think we’re worse at QB.
Team is worse at QB. no question. That could change in a few weeks when they draft who they think is going to be the next QB, although it will take time for a rookie to learn. I am not sold on Darnold, but I am happy the team is attempting to build a better roster in other areas with the money not spent on Kirk.
Team also finally has flexibility to make a change and try to build a roster.
Going to be a step back before any improvements.
I certainly hope Darnold is better with the Vikings than he has been since coming into the league. I do think he has significant talent. He just hasn’t quite hit on all cylinders to date. Let’s hope he turns a corner and puts up some very good numbers this year.
I have never said I disagreed with KAM regarding his handling of the Cousins deal BTW. From a business perspective (dollars and cents) it is probably the right decision. Atlanta on the other hand is not in cap hell, has a solid roster already, and needed a competent QB. It made sense for them to bring Cousins in. He immediately makes them much better.
I agree with all of that.
My concern with Darnold is that he is not as accurate(most QBs are not as accurate as Kirk, I give you that). While he is much more mobile than Kirk, he needs to fix the accuracy thing or at least improve in that area for the Vikings to do anything better than 7-9 wins.
I am not really too concerned though, since the guy they draft next month is the one they need to get correct.
On the defensive side, I am very happy with the moves so far.
Super Bowl Feb 2027!
Laughing… Super Bowl Feb 2027? I would take that. Also Feb 2026.
I think it’s obvious that McCown influenced the Darnold decision. I am hoping that he and KOC can get Darnold to play at a consistently high level, while the QBOTF develops.
