It’s freaking MONDAY all.
I guess the Tiger watch is on for the Masters now. Practice rounds begin today, along with all the other things like the par three contest, etc. I think the goal for Tiger is to just make the cut, and play all four rounds though.
T’Vondre Sweat was booked into Travis County Jail on Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to jail records.
Records show Sweat, 22, was arrested by the Austin Police Department and booked into Travis County Jail at 2:12 p.m. Sunday. Driving while intoxicated is a Class B misdemeanor. Sweat posted a $3,000 bond and was released from custody shortly after he was booked.
Well he is ranked up to #14 overall on some sites maybe he will fall to us at #23 after we take JJ at #11.
If Addison can learn from his ‘driving adventure’ I suspect Sweat can as well.

Golf tournament has gotten interesting. Denny McCarthy has birdied seven of his eight holes on the back nine, and come from 6 behind to tie the lead standing on the 18th tee. Dramatic comeback! Boils down to the last hole, and a potential to shoot 8 under on his final 9 holes.
One heck of a back nine for sure!

The moves they have made there been treading water at best.
I tend to agree. Not real improvement in my opinion. Better RB probably, might be a little better at Linebacker. But the losses outweigh the gains by a pretty large margin IMO. All we can hope is the team somehow achieves some semblance of competence.
Depends of Darnold can act like a competent QB until whomever we draft is ready to take over.
Depends on other draft picks along the trenches and Defense can adjust quickly to the NFL.
Suspect we have better Defense with Flores getting players he wants, O? depends on QB so probably slight chance of being decent until QBoTF is ready.
Perhaps I’m overly optimistic, but believe Darnold may turn out to be quite good. The Jets and Panthers were terrible situations for a young QB – and last year was merely as a backup.
Agree completely about the trenches.
I’m holding out hope for Darnold as well. I don’t know about terrible situations, though. He was just bad at the Jets and the Panthers. I mean terrible. He went to the Niners, and they decided not to keep him. Why? I know he has shown talent in spurts, so hoping KOC puts him in a scheme he can run effectively.
Darnold has the ‘physical tools’, that is why he was drafted #3.
He does not seem to have the ‘mental tools’ and that is what KOCs scheme requires most of all.
McCown may be able to ‘fix him’ but I have my doubts, McCown was never all that cerebral himself.
He may have been bad at both Jets and Panthers, but can’t think of any top notch offensive coaches at either place when he was there. And I think niners are about to pay Purdy and can’t can’t pay Darnold 10 mil too.
Also, Mullens runs our offense well – he just has to eliminate some of stupid decisions (more coaching).
We’ll just have to see I guess.
I know JR, but Darnold missed receivers at a high rate both at the Jets and the Panthers. He made bad decisions, and bad throws. The teams he played on weren’t good, but Darnold played the position poorly. He made the teams worse not better.
Jets are the Jets – QB hell. I must be remembering wrong.
I thought 2022 Panthers started with Baker and he was like 1-5, then someone else, and Darnold finished the season at 4-2. Believe they were thinking about extending him but got new coach and gave up draft picks for Young (not sure that was so smart).
Yeah he played in 6 games for the Panthers in 2022, but only threw it 140 times, and only completed 58% of his passes. He threw 7 TD’s and 3 interceptions. One of his “wins” he completed 5 of 15 passes for 43 yards and two interceptions, and the Panthers beat the Saints 10-7. So… he wasn’t exactly “leading the team to victory”.
Well, you know more about the QB stuff than I do so I’ll take your advice and be less optimistic but still hopeful.

Mekhi Blackmon
They have collectively started 50 games since the start of 2019, or 6.25 games per player. There’s still time for Jones II, Booth, Cine, Asamoah, and Blackmon to emerge, but if they don’t, the list above is about as bad as it gets when it comes to building a contending team.
Taking Cine instead of Hamilton in the 2022 draft might have been one of the dumbest moves ever. Taking Bradbury with our first pick in 2019? That’s right up there too. Then of course we missed wide right three straight times in Round 3 of the 2021 draft with Kellen Mond (QB), the aforementioned Chazz Surratt (LB), and Wyatt Davis (G).
In summary, the last five years of drafting for the Vikings has been a massive shitshow, and a singular reason the team has not had more success. I’m still waiting to see what KAM comes up with in this draft. We have a lot of messes to clean up.
You make a great point. You can clean up cap money, get the right QB, but if you can’t draft well overall, you’re still in trouble and not going any where.
Since 2018, the Vikings have drafted 62 players. 4 have been pretty good.
I’m a much better baseball player than drafter. In my sport, that would be a pretty bad batting average.
Indeed… Darrisaw, JJ, O’Neil, and Addison are the one’s I can think of, might be a couple more, but mostly misses.
Bynum has also been pretty good, UDFA pace is also great considering he wasn’t drafted

Hey JR, Bern’s is an awesome place. I think it’s been around since the mid 50’s. Elegant surroundings, fabulous steaks. I know you were not disappointed. I’ve had breakfast at the Sandpiper many times. Great little place. Glad you had fun!
Couple of points,
I myself did not have an issue with Cine at the time of the draft. I hated ‘the trade’ but not the player. I have since learned to add Cine to my ‘dislike’ list, he was trending ‘bust’ even before the injury.
Bradbury was a decent pick at the time, I rememberer reports of our D/DL coach pointing him out to Slick Rick while watching tape of Def Linemen they were scouting. He just doesn’t seem to have developed a good enough anchor against oversized Nose Tackles.
All said and done I believe Trench/Defense is the way to go after getting a QB. I think this is the year to get a decent one as long as we don’t massively overpay.

Ohio is opening their emergency operations center for the eclipse. What a gigantic waste of tax payers money. I have lived through other eclipses, and no one ever had to open an operations center and “prepare” for the eclipse. I guess people are just a lot more stupid and helpless these days, and need more emergency services for whatever they do to harm themselves.

Personally I resent the Government dollars being invested on stupid people. If someone is dumb enough to make bad choices, and seriously injure, or kill themselves, then that’s their problem. If they injure themselves being stupid, there should be no recourse that involves a legal process because “we didn’t do enough to protect people from themselves”.
But ‘Woke’ types believe that everyone should be allowed to be stupid and have no consequences for their actions.

Played 9 holes yesterday at 5 p.m. with my son. Shot 40, and my son shot 45. I had 5 pars and 4 bogey’s. Again, I just hit the ball decently, but my wedges and putter were really on. My son played decently too, but his putter was way off. He three putted a lot of greens. We both parred the last hole though, so that was a nice way to end the round and the day.

(Like something electronic I can take handwritten notes on that doesn’t end with me having 5 different paper notepads spread between my office and house) I have heard good things about the reMarkable but like the idea that the Amazon one can be used as a Kindle as well.
I don’t have any personal experience, but my wife uses a Kindle Scribe, and she likes it.
Awesome. I think I’ve narrowed down to the Scribe or the reMarkable. I like that the Scribe let’s you read books and it sounds like there’s some integration with email and web that the reMarkable doesn’t have. How is it for writing on? Is it really like writing on paper or are they goofy touch screens that freak out if your hand touches it?

Tyreek Hill was traded for a total of 5 draft picks – a 1st, 2nd & 4th for 2022 and a 4th and 6th in 2023. Hill was 28 at the time of the trade.
JJ is 24 (25 on the 16th of June) and I think you could argue that he’s not hit his prime yet – imo he carries more value than Hill.
I know he wants a shitload and his cap hit could be problematic in the future, but I’m inclined to pay the man. I think they will.

Good stuff. Believe we talked about Nix and opportunities yesterday – first take. The ending take is interesting but seems like a really big reach, but thoughtful.
don’t know this guy at all, but seems to know his stuff.
He has done a ton of film breakdowns and they are all excellent.
He is my go-to guy when trying to find out about players and schemes.
You might also like Greg Cosell of NFL films – really good with schemes and very objective. Also has access to a lot of film angles.
Cosell is good as well.
He just seems more corporate/establishment to me, less likely to go against the ‘narrative’.
He is ‘corporate’ NFL for sure. But he does seem to point out pluses/minuses of players without really bashing anyone.

Just do what our old accountant did and just apply for extensions, so you can work on it all year.
He was not happy when we told him we needed ours done right away at the beginning of the year, since we sold our business.
We do that immediately for the “bad” clients.
All extensions will be filed by April 12th.
If someone tells me that at the beginning of the year, I’m fine with it.
And it should be done quickly.
If someone tells me that at the end of March, it goes directly to the bottom of my pile.
