Crazy story at the PGA Championship. Scotty Scheffler arrested trying to get past an accident near the venue where a man was killed crossing the road. He was ordered to stop by police, and apparently slowed down, but continued moving forward on the median, trying to get to the golf course gate.
So my wife woke me up around 10 last night to report we had an alligator on the front door step, and half the neighborhood was out there gawking at it. Florida Wildlife guys showed up about a half hour later, and chased it back into the lake.
Too bad Florida law protects them – would have made a nice pair of golf shoes.

Long damn day. I’m home and thankful to be there. My co-workers are devastated and understandably so. The video is awful. Student pulls to the top floor of the garage, parks and gets out of the car, puts her book bag and phone on the trunk and takes about two steps back and then sprints and dives over the edge – without the slightest hesitation. I’ll never fucking unsee that. In my time working mental health I saw a lot (I’m sure many here have also seen awful things) and nothing compares to that.
That’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.
How someone can believe something like that is a better answer then whatever they are going thru I will never understand.
I have seen inmates kill themselves because Gangs told them if they didn’t the Gang would go after their family. That one I kind of get. Otherwise no.

I’m okay man. Time with the mutts and a little bit of a head change on the porch and I feel a bit better.
I can’t say I understand it either. I’m very fortunate that I’ve not felt that way. My wife struggled with depression early in our relationship and thru therapy and the right medication she’s developed into a happy, confident woman – no small feat considering her upbringing. She used to talk with shame in her eyes when discussing the need for medication and I put the kibosh on that pretty quick – if taking a pill stops someone from suffering then take the pill, life’s too short to be gd miserable.
I get that.
The Teacher gets home and vents about all the stuff she goes thru at work/school. I listen and ask a questions occasionally. She thanks me for ‘being a good listener’ once she is done. I tell her ‘you are not angry at me so vent away’ It doesn’t bother me in the least,
We all need a pressure valve, since I don’t drink for me that has been listening to soothing music, especially when I worked in prison. It helped me but we all have our own technique.
Wish that poor girl had someone or something she could go to or do that helped her when she needed it..

Best teacher I ever had from K – College was my Music teacher back home, he taught music for the entire school K – 12 for 35+ years and he delayed his retirement by one year so he could teach my class our senior year. Love the guy to death.

On a completely different note, Zeph’s chemo and radiation is done. Today will be a rest day and tomorrow will be the bone marrow transplant. We are nearing the end of the process.
Good to hear and praying all goes well tomorrow. I have heard bone marrow transplants can be quite painful.
The other day during the chemo stuff, he was in so much pain that they gave him some morphine. They may do that again to ease the pain.
that is really tough – especially for a child. Praying this all goes by quickly and a full recovery.

The transplant is tomorrow. He will have to be there for at least 100 days so they can test him often to make sure the transplant is working. At least that is my understanding.
Maybe I misunderstood. Where you asking how long it takes? We just found that out tonight. It will take 6 to 8 hours to do the transplant.

One of my nephews sent my stepdaughter a text message at 11 pm, asking, “How do you spell (c-word)? With a C or with a K? I’m not sure, I’m just a dumb (person that works for a large national company with defined pension plan)!”
This was out of the blue. My stepdaughter thought it might have to do with a track team thing (her daughter and his daughter are on the track team together) and called the coach, who said that my granddaughter is an exemplary teammate.
My granddaughter graduates from HS on Sunday.
My plan is that if the nephew shows up at the party I will ask him to go for a walk with me and tell him he needs to either apologize or leave. I just can’t be phony and act like nothing happened.

Her husband tried to rationalize it, said maybe this or maybe that. I won’t tolerate it. I was taught that it was absolutely taboo to use that word in the presence of a woman. Texting is even worse. If I had sent a message to a woman, let alone a cousin, at say age 16, my dad would have given me the extension cord. And believe me, the rolled up extension cord was nothing to sneeze at.
I really got shaky mad this morning when she told me. However, my wife asked me not to ruin the graduation for the granddaughter, hence I figured we would go for a walk.

The way I read it, is the step daughter and the nephew are about the same age, with daughters of the same age on a track team.
It sounds like the nephew texted the step daughter to let her know her daughter is the C-word.

My stepdaughter is 46, she received the text. Both the SD and GD first name starts with a “J”.
I frankly don’t give a flying f— if people don’t understand the context. That wasn’t the advice I was asking for. My advice was basically am I going to get in his face right on the back lawn with approximately 50 friends and relatives in attendance, or should I remove he and I from the area and go talk about it elsewhere. I already decided I can’t have he or his wife sit down across the table from me and act nice.
The context is, out of the blue, your 46 year old (mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter) receives an unsolicited text from a cousin who has not texted anything in months, saying how do you spell c—, with a c or a k? There is no humorous context in which a man sends that text. If he wants to beg it off as he was plastered and it was because he was pissed his daughter got beaten in the 200 m by her daughter, then he can go and man up and apologize. I’m just not letting him think he can get away with it.
Trust me, his dad (my brother in law) would not think favorably about this text.
I’m sure he will try to weasel out of it, but if I were in your shoes, I would make sure he knew not to make that comment or mistake again.

Taking him aside and giving him a chance to stone atone odds probably a good approach. Bring it up with other people around will be more likely to lead to confrontation. Maybe tell him you want to show him your new shotgun to get him away from everybody. Or the tractor and before confronting him you tell him how deep of holes it can dig.

You know this nephew better than we do. If he is volatile, it may be best to confront the situation before the grad party. You don’t want him hurting someone if he is confronted. If he is a blowhard, then it might be ok to take him aside and address it one on one at the party.
Family situations can be tough. If his excuse is that he was drunk, then maybe this is a wake-up call that he needs to get his life in order. Doing stupid things while you are drunk, still means you did something stupid. Drunken stupidity can really mess up family relationships.

My shift used to end at 10 and I got home around 11, unless I got held over to an involuntary overtime, that is when I would be texting that I would see her in the morning.
If I got home in time that is as the OT shift was over at 6, got home about 7 about the time she left for work. Any delay meant I missed her.
It could be because I was brought up not to use any of those kinds of words that I can’t always distinguish the level of intensity. To me that word was always just one of those words, no worse, no better. However, for a grown man to send a text to a teenage relative about something like that, seems to indicate he has some issues. And if he is punching his son’s coach, then it seems he has some self control and/or anger issues.

$360k is about suggested comp for the Calf house but it would cost almost $100k to repair/remodel/modernize/sell it, not to mention months of dealing with contractors/realtors/finance types/etc.
Idahome cost $265k when we bought in 2020 now comp is about $450k. Will make enough from Calif house to pay off Idahome, so I consider it a win.

A vet called the help line and the person suggested that he kill himself. It was not to make sure the person was not suicidal. The government veteran help line told a vet looking for help to kill himself.
Suspect a misunderstanding.

I’d bet what she did had been suggested in her training. Her only problem was that she was too upfront about it and didn’t lack the tact they wanted to keep it hidden. Things like that don’t just happen. There is some system history there.
I am sure that there is a cost savings to the Gov, so they might consider a ‘nudge’ completely justified.

Really, I think Sandler is a funny guy. I enjoy watching his movies, good entertainment. He did a movie a couple years ago called Hustle, a rare serious role for him, and a great movie.
The dude is doing alright. I doubt that he cares what we say about his movies on here. Personally, I find his movies average. Some are watchable, some are not. I did like the mysteries ones with Jennifer Aniston. Not high quality stuff, but fun to watch.
Waterboy was decent, not sure about any others. Don’t know if I have seen anything else he has done.

Waterboy was hilarious. Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, The Hotel Transylvania movies are pretty good, Billy Madison. I didn’t mind Just Go With It. Murder Mystery was pretty good.
Happy Gilmore is the only other one I may have seen, but Golf so I probably slept thru most of it.

In regards to season predictions..am I the only one on here who thinks the Bears are actually going to be a bigger problem and may be a very tough out? Their defense was tops in the leagues the last half of the season last year and it didnt lose anyone as far as I know. They have a top 5 WR room in the NFL now as well and a good O line. If Williams clicks…I think we will lose to them as well.

OofTD There is two halves of that discussion.
The new kickoff rules that mandate kicking into The Box aka ‘landing zone’ (sidelines-20yd line-goal line) and having it stick in there is half the discussion. That was the reason the USFL kicker was brought in as he has experience with that.
2nd half is the field goals, that is the kicker that we drafted, top scorer in NCAA history (given 5 years of kicking for Alabama).
So either our FG kicker learns to short iron our Kickoff into the box and stick there or our Kickoff kicker learns to boom FG accurately when needed or we keep two kicking specialist (plus punter) on the roster.
Suppose we can just plan on kicking into the end zone each time for an automatic touchback at the 30.

According to Vegas, the Vikings are favored in only 3 games, Colts, Titans, and Cardinals, based mostly on the fact they are running out a guy at QB with nearly a 1:1 TD to Int ratio and under 60% completion percentage, or a 21 year old rookie who has potential but rookies are rookies. There are plenty of games where they are a minor underdog that they very well may win, and the odds will change as the season goes along, but as of now, Vegas is not impressed with the Vikings. What’s weird to me is the Vikings are underdogs in every single divisional game, its incredibly rare for a team to be swept in the division. Apparently Vegas hates the Vikings QB situation that bad though.
I am predicting a sweep by the Lions and Packers this year.
I will look at the schedule and make my guesses for the full season next week. I haven’t looked it yet really.
I am looking at it to be an interesting year even if we do pile up the Ls, though. It will be fun to see the new version of the team, hopefully, grow.
