Slow day today. We need some more football to talk about, or rage about, or be angry and bitter about.

Twinkies started another streak with their 2nd in a row over Wash.
3-2 with some decent pitching and ‘good enough’ hitting.

Due to the storm last night, our power was out from 6:45 pm last night until a few minutes after 6am this morning. I got to work and some people only had their power flicker. We must be on the wrong power line. It’s amazing how much a person misses electricity when it is gone.

We are used to having the power go out here in Commifornia.

We have lamps in each room and Power Cells for charging phones and pads plugged in and ready.

Alan Dershowitz line for the closing argument on the defense.

Now, one of the original dream team members has reworked the phrase to include his assessment of this Trump trial. Dershowitz told Hannity Tuesday night, “I have a motto for the defense: ‘If it’s not legit, you must acquit.’ And this is not a legitimate trial, and there must be an acquittal… in the interest of all Americans.”

I concur. Total sham of a trial that was nothing more than a public character assassination plan for the Democrats. The judge should go to jail for participating in this ridiculous abuse of jurisprudence.

I can agree with you 95%, I will not vote for someone who does not believe in my core values. Therefore, I will not vote Democrat, because no Democrat has ever shared core values with me.

What I will do is vote for a different Republican than what is currently sitting in the political seat.

Fine, don’t get upset about corruption in politics, you are literally the problem. You can say you’ll vote for a different Pub but I am talking about the one’s who have and continue to sit forever in office who know they’ll never get voted out because of folks like you.

Also, I got news for you.. 95% of the politicians that say or run on you core values don’t actually give a shit about those values.

It’s not as easy as getting rid of them though. When it comes down to it we have a choice between 2 people and typically the other option is worse than the bad option we are currently stuck with or people are too stupid to get informed and vote for people based on catchy phrases from 20 second TV commercials.

There needs to be a way to hold the party leadership accountable. The Rs here are horrible at picking candidates and keep giving what should be an easy red seat to the dems by picking bad candidates and taking it for granted. Tester and the lefties have already built the narrative that Sheehy is nothing but a rich out of stater, same as they do every time. That narrative will stick, nobody will care that Tester is one of, if not the most, crooked people in Washington and he will get re-elected.

Your response to JackVike about corruption is interesting.
Believe Trump ran on a platform of ‘draining the swamp’ which is directed at the head of political corruption – washington DC.
That is why he is so hated in that town by not only all the dems but a fair amount of Repubs (there part of swamp too).
Would think trump’s ambitions align with yours.

Yeah, some say “Well, he had 4 years to drain the swamp. Why didn’t he do it/get it done?” Not only is that a short timeframe in the grand scheme of government and corruption, but he had every member of media and nearly all politicians and his own staff working against him the whole time. Hard to do anything with that.

Yeah. I’m guessing a guilty verdict.
The Judge instructed the jury to throw out “beyond a reasonable doubt” for a criminal trial and to use the civil trial version of a preponderance of the evidence. This will get overturned on appeal, but that won’t happen until after the election.

The question I have is will the judge sentence Trump to jail with no bail before appeal.

That’s how it starts. Then it will record everything and the police will be able to download it. Actually, they already can so this is just step one to automated speeding tickets being sent in the mail a la the bill you get for going on toll roads. After that they will mandate kill switches so if you are “too dangerous” your car can be disabled. It will start with traffic violations and quickly move to social scores and your car and bank accounts will be shut off because we will also be in a cashless society.

Idaho is open carry.

Funny in Calif, where you need the protection, the victim is more likely to be prosecuted if he has to pull a gun to defend himself.
But in Idaho, where there is much less protection needed, the laws are all tilted toward the victim.

“best burgers” according to someone on here, wonder what they dry over the grill, dirty rags?

Don’t they just microwave their “grilled” burgers?

IDK, I could see them throwing frozen patties in the microwave, then slapping them on the grill for 30 seconds and calling them “grilled”

I think it’s the other way around.
I think they are grilled in regional warehouse, shipped cooked, and then microwaved at the franchise location.

After some googling, it appears McDee’s does grill their burgers.
So I must be thinking of a different chain.

My sisters both worked at a McDee’s back in the late 70’s and they said they were microwaved, so apparently they have changed.

I worked at a Burger King, we would flame broil them and hold them in a steamer table. They would get microwaved to warm back up fully and to melt the cheese.

Just imagine what goes on in the kitchen in your favorite Chinese restaurant. Is that really chicken?

I washed dishes at a Chinese restaurant while I was in HS.
There were usually dead chickens hanging over my head while I did so.

Ahhhh those were the days.

Heck I started in a Mexican restaurant moved down the street the next year to the Chinese restaurant, then the next year worked in an Italian place

Didn’t wash dishes during the summer, it was more an after school thing. Summers were for working with the dad laying carpet and tile floors.

I know of one that got caught butchering deer in the kitchen that they took from the railroad tracks behind the restaurant. They were only using the meat for personal consumption though.

We were talking about Hamburgers the other day and Matt’s & 5-8 were brought up with the Jucy Lucy.

Well, here’s a story about the burger.
I lived in Twin Cities for 27 years and I have never heard of this before.
Sounds pretty good.

The burgers at the stadium suck, despite the 5-figure price tag.

I can’t eat them anymore anyway, well, at least not with a bun.

If it is, I know people who like gluten free bread or they use crisp lettuce as the bun.

The NFL will implement optical tracking systems for yardage rulings this preseason with the potential for full-time implementation, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The league considers this a test run of accuracy on line-to-gain rulings, the source said, with the option to continue the use of measuring chains in 2024.

The league has experimented with the system in the past but would need to install it in every NFL stadium for functional use in the regular season.

The league’s competition committee approved the matter in March. It is not on the agenda at this week’s owners meetings in Nashville.

Not sure what this technology is, but players use the sticks to know where they need to get to when running routes to the sidelines, and getting around the edge. What visual will there be for the players to know where the first down marker is?

That would suck. Don’t want the quarterback throwing it short of the sticks.

YAC is real.
Hopefully on 3rd/4th down you won’t have to rely on it too often.
I have heard that it can bite you if you do.

Never throw to a TE short of the sticks on 4th down and expect YAC.

Kelce would get past the sticks or Mahomes would throw to somebody else.

NFL owners passed a new rule on Tuesday establishing a three-hour interview limit for head-coaching candidates who are employed by teams still in the playoffs.

Such candidates will also only be permitted to interview at a location of the choosing of their current organization if it’s an in-person meeting with a prospective employer.

The NFL’s senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, Jonathan Beane, said the new rule was created to put less time constraints on coaching candidates who are trying to balance interviews with their preparations for playoff games.

this is idiotic. This is a “senior executive” position. In real business candidates go through hours of multiple interviews to get a position.
Any time a chief divisity and inclusion officer is involved bet it’s going to be screwed up process.

This is fun strategery. Should have been saved for the Olympics. One Chinese skater took off like a bat out of hell, lapped everyone and then tucked in behind the mob. Everyone then forgot about her. When the bell sounded for the final lap for the Chinese skater in back, everyone thought they had one more lap, so they pulled up at the end of it. Meanwhile, the other Chinese skater was in on the plan and knew she had to go one more lap to get an easy silver.

But it only works if you have a superb athlete who can go that much faster than everybody else.

I liked the trick play Kentucky baseball pulled off the other day. I’ll try to find the video later, but there were runners on 1st and 3rd. The guy on 1st acted like he was going to steal and then “fell”. While the pitcher was looking at him, the guy on 3rd stole home to win the game.

Skater goes out and ‘almost laps the field’ and they promptly forgot about her?
Sounds sketchy.

I wondered that, too, but apparently, it is possible. Sometimes skaters do that to screw with the pace for their teammate and then drop out. Others have said that the skaters also don’t have the same vision as the top-down camera, so it is easy for them to lose track if someone drops out. They could have assumed that lead skater left the ice.
