But I’ve seen hundreds of “Shady Sheehy” ads followed by hundreds of “Tester votes with Biden 95% of the time” ads.

Watching the show playmakers right now. It aired on ESPN in the early 2000’s and was highly rated, but was canceled after one season because it was too real, showed that players took steroids, did drugs, struggled with pain killers/injuries, domestic abuse, and even had a player who was kicked off the team for being gay. If the show premiered today it would be celebrated, my how the times have changed.

really good show though

Well for me. Had open surgery twice and just a little bit of blue balls – like didn’t last more than a day or so.
With the laprascopic robotic, I had the very worse case of them. Like one was almost lemon size. Surgeon told me later when it’s not open, the blood stays in you and drains down – guess where,
That’s why I asked.

That does make sense.

My wife had robotic HSO and one of the insertion port incisions caused her discomfort for months, it was palpably thickened and painful to the touch. She lamented that she should have had TAHBSO, probably not true but in any case when your wife knows, she knows.

Interesting, maybe that’s why I didn’t have any swelling or nut pain until about four days after surgery.

Keep icing and the body will gradually absorb it and swelling will go down.

That means it is super cool. Didn’t have routine robotic surgery back “centuries ago” (actually 20 years ago) when I graduated med school.

Off topic but I just had a chuckle. The neighboring towns don’t have a rad and one of the hospitals called and wanted me to do a lung biopsy on a pt with a lung nodule seen on breast MR. Long story short seeing something on MR does not equate to knowing just how it relates to the adjacent heart, ribs, pericardium, sternum, intercostal vessels, etc…the breast radiologist that read the MR recommended PET/CT to evaluate the nodule to see if it was possibly cancerous which sounded like a great plan to me…I told the technologist to relay back that I would need to see the PET/CT before I could proceed as I needed the anatomic information anyhow. Nurse told the tech I must be incompetent as the nodule is right there “you can see it” and they would have their visiting rad do the biopsy on July 8. All righty then, boy do I shed some tears over the nurse thinking lung biopsy is a walk in the park.

Yup, I get angry when the techs have to absorb that unneeded hostility but by the same token I don’t need to waste quality DN time arguing with a nurse. It’s either provider to provider or no talkee with the doc’ee.

Why in goodness name they wanted me to do the biopsy, having her drive down here and potentially have to stay overnight if I have any complications, when they could get it done there on the 8th is beyond me.

Great show – NFL pressured ESPN to cancel, allegedly threatened to pull the pending TV deal ESPN had to begin airing MNF.

Would also recommend the show Tilt with Michael Madsen. Aired on ESPN around the time of the WSOP boom.

Just got back.
Took in recyclables, plastic, aluminum, scrap medal. Got just over $60 for an almost full pickup trucks worth.
Then got the oil changed in the truck, make sure it is all ready for the trip to Idaho 9 days. That cost $40. or so but they do a good job checking and filling all the fluid levels.

While I was gone The Teacher was negotiating with the auto insurance. Got them down to just over $900. for the year for the CRV and the Tacoma. It was about $165 a month in Commifornia, So we are paying less than half for the same coverage. Win!!

SB region? San Bernadino? Santa Barbara? Lots of SBs out here, not local though.

It is a small shop ‘Valvoline’ branded. Some couple of guys have worked there for a couple of decades. They gave me discounts when I worked at the prison so I keep going back to them.

Saw a Youtube video about the Tesla Cypertruck and the said it was good for shorter distances. They had to unhitch the trailer to plug in, so it took several hours to recharge it. Not ideal.

Santa Barbara is/was my hometown.
Mom owns a nice house there, the lease pays for her ‘assisted living apt’.

Too pricy to live there, medium home price is $2M. She is 91 I will get a 1/4 of that when she passes. I told her ‘no hurry’.

Too liberal for my blood as well. Although I could probably learn to ignore it all if I had that kind of Coin. Plus I would be living close to the Duchess of Montecito.

Yeah, I wonder how my alum is doing there. She and I got married about the same time (to US citizens), she was in Oregon, and unlike me her marriage did not go well – she ended up divorced within six months which meant she had to go through a real rigmarole with INS (unlike the illegal migrants). That was the last time I’ve spoken to her, but I can keep up with her chatting on FB. She got her permanent resident status, I don’t think she has ever become a citizen.

We were actually somewhat close in college, never had any inkling (does anyone?) but after the divorce she had a couple of unpleasant relationships and then there were some hints getting stronger and stronger she went to the other side, moved in with a “friend” in Santa Barbara. All of which is to say I think she is happy, which is great, but I don’t know how a lab tech pays the bills there based on what another friend living there (a neurologist) tells me about the cost of living.

I know that the hospital near where I grew up and was born was converted to housing for medical types that work at the Cottage Hospital.
Visiting Nurses were a big thing last I heard, bring them in on a part time basis and provide housing for them there.

If she is playing for ‘the other side’ she will fit right in there. Very liberal but since there is so much money in town they don’t have the homeless issues other places do. They still have homeless, one told me he gets the best Name Brand donated items from there.

Donation guy was like ‘is that a Samsonite? Maybe they will let me buy it’ The Teacher told him ‘we will just give it to you’ and he replied ‘no that will get me in trouble, I will have to buy it’.

Didn’t have the key to it anymore, wiped the dust off the outside but still needed cleaning up, sat in the garage. But hey if someone can use it then it is better than taking it to the dump.

We get an extra 10% off for signing up for their AP on our phone.
The discount gets bigger if we ‘behave’ and drive safely.
Per the broker he is an aggressive driver who routinely speeds and he still get 20% off.
We will see how that goes and cancel if we become uncomfortable with it.

The Teacher spent 2 days on the phone with the guy getting everything worked out. She told him we will recommend him when possible so if you want his info can send it once The Teacher gets back.

So Cousins had a passer rating of 99.7 with 4,298 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 16 games in 2018. This was his first year with the Vikings, with a rookie OC who got fired before the season ended. Sam Darnold comes in with an offense in its third year and all the skill position players a QB could want. He should easily match Cousins first year production.

“Should” is an interesting word to choose. No one here says he should do that. “Could” is a better word and is realistic. And again you are comparing Apples to Oranges. Both are fruits, but are coming from very different places and should have different expectations.

Sam Darnold

  • Will be starting his 7th season when he takes a snap for the Vikings which will be his 4th team.
  • Has had dog shit coaches, teams and weapons around him his entire career as a “Starting” QB. Starting one meaningless game at the end of the season is too small a sample size
  • Will have the best coaching, weapons and supporting cast he’s ever had in 2024.

Cousins

  • Was starting his 7th season in the league when he first took a snap for the Vikings which was the 2nd team of his career.
  • Had multiple offensive geniuses that went on to become great OCs/Head Coaches helping him in Washington on the offensive side of the ball.
  • Had up until that point and his entire offensive career, an amazing offensive cast to help him.

One of these things is not like the other and should not be held to the same standard OR EXPECTATIONS. Darnold could very well suck, but the expectations for him shouldn’t be a top 15 QB week in and week out. I would say 15-20 (averagish) is realistic for him. Anything more is a cherry on top and really speaks to KOC and his scheme.

Lol, yeah, do you remember the “amazing offensive cast” of juggernauts of the Redskins teams that he played on? I’m not sure Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson were top-notch players at the time, and their RB’s weren’t exactly great when he was there. He did have good TE play in Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed (when he wasn’t hurt). But come on, that’s a little over the top.

Sure, his team might have been better than Darnold’s teams, but ownership and coaching was TRASH from a head coach perspective.

there’s a lot of sides to this. half stories all over. And I think Darnold will do fine here and put up big numbers.
Couple of thoughts. One year skins had Garcon’Jackson and Cousins threw for nearly 5000 yards. Great brain trust there thought they were old so let the receivers go – then not so good.
Biggest issue I see, and why I think Darnold wil have good numbers- skins tried to run the ball quite a bit. We can’t don’t run the ball well so we have little choice but to pass the ball, if we plan to have an offense.
It’s simple math – if you pass a lot you’ll have big passing numbers.

I didn’t read KFEY’s response, so no idea what he said about the Skins. Five used to often misstate things about the Redskins like “they had an all-pro line when Cousins was there”. Cousins was the starter for 3 years in Washington, and one year (2016) he had a decent O-line, and threw for almost 5,000 yards. In 2017 the Skins went through 26 different O-line combinations by week 13. They were signing guys on Wednesday that played on Sunday. I remember one game where Cousins introduced himself to his new left Guard in warm-ups for the game.

I read Fkeys and Jros and both made good points – nothing wrong.
But, for example, there’s a big difference between reading about an accident compared to seeing it first hand.
All points are good but incomplete. And I don’t mean this disrespectfully but there’s a difference between ‘truth’ and the ‘whole truth’. Can lead to very different outcomes.

I think with the performance we got, with JB’s normal issues with coherency, it seemed a little too polished to me to be off-the-cuff. He looked like he was staring at a teleprompter (or just concentrating really hard to remember) at several points, especially early in the debate. But you can live with that belief. 🙂

I have to say the moderators were surprisingly fair. I viewed only slight favoritism (with the questions they posed and timing of cut-offs, etc.)

I think Trump messed up in that he needed to point out a few things like stats about illegals coming in (exactly how many millions, and implications), that he would straight up stop giving money to Ukraine, and call out Biden on his lies and politicizing the justice system more (dems get off free, like Bowman, and many people got thrown in jail for 3 years without trial/charges for walking in the capitol when they were ushered in by police and just taking pictures).

He did hit that the illegals will destroy social security and Medicare, etc.

I would also have pointed out the several statistical impossibilities of the 2020 election that happened after 3 AM in SEVERAL states, even though the courts would not allow cases on cheating due to merits, but blocked them due to procedural BS.

He also needs to cool it on the superlatives (best, most, ever, of all time…). That gets old.

Don’t you think the debate was about demeanor? Trump needed to keep his and look statesman like. Biden needed to show he still had a mind and could think some on his feet. Biden failed badly.

Good point JR. One of my key criticisms of KOC is his inability (thus far) to craft a running game. His first year we were 28th in the league running the ball. Last year KOC said he focused on the running game all off season, and we ended up 29th.

I’m not a political guy, so it’s just my theory. I just don’t think last night was a “sudden” realization from the Dems that Biden isn’t fit. I thought the question about child care costs was stupid and I am glad Trump didn’t answer it. But if he had, the correct answer would be, it is up to the states to set their regulations on child care facilities. So if the cost of child care is too high maybe the governors of those states need to address their regulations.

There is undoubtedly selection bias, plus my own personal bias at play, but infants referred for imaging for failure to thrive seem disproportionately to be covered by Medicaid (which would make sense as low income and challenges with nutrition for infants would go hand in hand). Unfortunately my observations of the parenting skills in these brief encounters would make me hesitate to want to place my own child under the daily supervision and care of those individuals.

Please note that is not a blanket statement, there are many excellent parents that rely on Medicaid. However, now you would have to have some sort of competency testing and overall supervision.

JacksonVike
Reply to  MT Viking

Yes, you would need supervision, the parents would be there to simply take care of the kids, feeding, changing, and keeping them busy.

This would more than likely, push said parents to try harder to make a better life for themselves so that they would not have to be a part of the daycare.

I echo JV…I was pleasantly surprised at how well CNN moderators did. Gently trying to steer the candidates back to the original question.

-nod to Edge. I’ll be honest, B could have knocked it out of the park and T could have raged nonstop against the brown skinned illegals and I still would vote R in November. However, if this is how B looks in 2024 what would he look like in 2028 at a G7 summit? If you’re voting for a party knowing that your presidential candidate is going to fail mentally during their 4 year term, um, yikes.
-I don’t think the D party will be able to get B to step aside. At this point the delegates are cast, he would have to refuse the party nomination voluntarily. Won’t happen. And as B goes so does VP Harris, so a vote for one is a vote for the other for president. Thank you Minnesota for your 10 electoral votes (gags).
-I personally give two craps about environmental initiatives, child care and SS. Not in my sphere of concern. Free market. I’ve never planned on collecting a dime from SS, will be pleasantly surprised if they do. I guess the D party plan is to tax the wealthy, I’ve heard this line before…no one acknowledges that billionaires have millions to spend on employing individuals to help them avoid taxes, unrealized capital gains, real estate, etc. Changing the tax laws requires Congress. No idea what the R party plan is, other than deporting illegals.
-I do care about the border security and inflation. Heard no plan from B. T will drill baby drill, that will bring down multiple sector costs.
-the contrast between the debate 4 years ago and the debate last night in the diction and command of the debate by Biden was simply breathtaking.
-sex with pornstars and golf handicap. What a disgrace on the international front. How low have we come?
