VIKINGS NEWS – Nothing. However, this is July 1, and that means we are in the last boring (for the NFL) month of 2024.
NFL News – FTP
Question of the day – Hard Knocks on HBO begins tomorrow. “Off season with the NY Giants”. Not a Giants fan, at all, but I will be watching. I am that starved for some football things. Are you watching?

I Paid Off $100K of Student Loan Debt With These 5 Tips (msn.com)
This lady is a fool for paying back her own student loan debt…she obviously doesn’t understand how modern America works.
Some people just don’t ‘Get It’.
I guess sniffer is leaning on advice from Hunter. Speaks volumes.

Boston Celtics just signed Jason Tatum to a 5 year $315M deal.
This is a year after signing his teammate Jaylen Brown to a 5 year $304M deal last year.

Glad Adam could tell all of that after playing catch with him in shorts.
Hope he is correct.
Since he said the same thing about Bryce Young I think I’ll wait and watch them play a few games.
It’s academic that McCarthy has the physical tools. Could never have gotten to where he is without them. That’s really just step one on the ladder though.
Hope gets some playing time pre-season. Lots of new faces this year. Looking forward but will keep expectations low.
Certainly will get pre-season gametime, and if Darnold doesn’t do well, KOC may just decide to throw McCarthy out there, regardless if he is “ready” or not.
Presidents make decisions that get people killed – lots of people.
Presidents make decisions where people lose millions of dollars.
Presidents make decisions that can change the direction of the country and course of history.
Who could argue against a President making such decisions as he dispatches his duties?
If not, we don’t need elections, let’s just throw them in jail everytime they do something a portion of the public doesn’t like.
Quit talking Logic or FJB will send the DOJ/FBI after you.
And I know you would then give the rest of us up to get a better plea deal for yourself.

Actually if Biden had a brain this ruling provides protection for HIM – especially important given all the stupid things he does.
Least we (him) wants every tin horn DA in the country indicting him every other week.
And – I would only throw disagreeable people under the bus.
You better be careful.
Best known saying in prison is ‘Snitches get stitches’.
Well right after ‘Hey little guy, go ahead and drop your soap’.
It’s a little discomforting when you fart and here somebody say “just my size”
You hang out in CA or around Disney a lot?
I vaguely remembering someone saying on here something about size and raccoons.

Oh yeah. I tried to wipe that “interesting” day from the memory bank. Thanks for bringing it back up, along with my lunch.
You know me, always willing to help.

Guess US military bases on heightened alert in Europe. Gut says something will happen soon, maybe domestic.
Russian actors in Europe are threatening U.S. and NATO personnel, over their support of Ukraine.
Just feel something is imminent. Over there or domestic. We have a admin that seems to not care much for national security.
Not to mention a “President” who just further showed the world that he is senile.
Take this for what it’s worth, just my personal opinion…
Conservatives by default are wary, practical, prudent, and pragmatic. Liberals by default are emotionally charged, cause-driven activists, who constantly seek something to condemn others about, so people will acknowledge them.
While I do feel liberals have a place in our National consciousness, they have no business Governing us.
I have long felt that Liberals were idealist and Conservatives were realist.
We actually need both, ideas and ways to implement the good ones logically.
Like when AOC said ‘I don’t worry about the details, just the big picture’ (or words to that effect).
This ^
Liberals have been around for a long time and liberals and progressives hve worked together an d accomplished many things. These new ‘progressives’…. that’s another matter.
And I could site a recent conservative President that I don’t think is very practical or pragmatic.
That’s because they’re not progressive….. they’re radical……
French conservatives are making a move in the snap election Macron called for. Apparently, the biggest issue for French voters have been economic issues, such as rising inflation and cost-of-living increases. People feel they’ve lost a lot in recent years. People are angry.
In the first ballot round, the conservatives won handily, the second ballot round will be on 7 July. Will the Liberals find a way to overcome this and win that vote?
Hmmmm…
Did you see how the liberal women are protesting the conservative victories? Good thing their lefties seem to be a little better looking than the typical American liberal.
Laughing… no I didn’t Bow. I can say I have been to France and 25 other countries, and Croatian women were the hottest.
There was a bunch of them mopping topless, I think in front of some government building. Not sure what that proves, but I’m not going to try too hard to understand the liberal mind.
Damn, sorry I missed that!
If it is on the internet it is forever.
Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) announced on Monday that she is planning on filing articles of impeachment following the U.S. Supreme Court’s immunity ruling for former President Donald Trump.
Gonna impeach the Supreme Court Justices you are opposed to politically. Good luck with that nutzocasio.
Wonder how she would feel if some DA in Texas (district of one of the fallen Marines in the afgan wd) charged Biden with some trumped up felony for manslaughter or something.
This is the nuts and bolts of the Supreme Court’s decision. There needs to be a limit to what a President can be prosecuted for. Otherwise political enemies would “trump up” charges by the boatload to attack their opponent, and discredit him, and make him unelectable.
Oh wait…
No way either side would do something like that. That’s just Banana Republic type stuff. It would never happen in the US.
What is particularly great about this – Jack Smith himself ‘pushed’ this case and basically demanded the Supreme Court get involved. All because he wanted to rush and get to court before the election with his case.
Old Jack asked and got an answer.
I love my power Jell-O.
Two bananas, blueberries, scoop of protein powder, half cup water, blended.
Package of Jell-O dissolved in one cup boiling water, added to blender.
Chill until solid and top with homemade whipping cream.
I could eat a whole bowl of it no problem. But I make it last a couple of days.
The Teacher gags at the mention of Jell-O.
Traumatic Childhood Experience I assume.
So I have not had any since I met her.
Although it is fun to mention Peas in Jell-O just watch the reaction as they are her two least favorite foods.
There are some crazy Jell-O dishes in Minnesota, that is for sure. I would not really protest if some world dictator decided to wipe us off the face of the earth for some of the crimes we committed against Jell-O.
I know some folks that love lime Jell-O with olives and onions in it.
I have a hard time eating with that family. For one thing, they eat excruciatingly slow. For another, they plop Jell-O dishes right on their plate with their savory servings, and it melts and all runs together, and they slop it right up like it is the greatest thing ever.
Otherwise, they are quite normal. Not even any buggery or banjos going on. But what they do to Jell-O…yeesh…
That’s disturbing and they should all probably report immediately to their local re-programming camp.
When I was in school the cooks would make a jell-o with pineapple and carrot shavings in it.
One day I decided to chuck mine across the lunchroom, about forty feet. It hit a friend of mine, so he threw it back at me. We did this a couple of times before it finely fell apart.
I guess carrot shavings in Jell-o is like rebar in cement.
I was trying to decide if I really remembered carrot shavings in jello or if that was just a nightmare I had. Apparently it was real. That’s even scarier than a nightmare.
Haha I like that analogy.
Out here we have a thing called “pretzel salad”
It’s strawberry jello with pretzels and whipped topping.
That’s a holiday requirement out here. Growing up in Minnesota, I don’t care for it much.
What flavor protein powder?
Vanilla
What flavor jello? Im curious how this would turn out haha. And how much protein a bowl makes!
I have found that orange works best, but strawberry is a close second. Both pair well with the banana/blueberry combo.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CANADIA!!!
As long as he can freeze bank accounts.
They deserved it! They thought differently from me!
One of my Facebook friends has a son who has dwarfism. He travels all over taking his son to Little People of America Conventions.
What a good dad.
I read another story about a father who had a son with dwarfism, and he knew his son would get picked on, so the father would make fun of him at home. Then he’s say, “Okay, now zing me back.”
So then when the kid got picked on at school, he had a vast store of one-liners to come back with. It worked really well apparently. Made the kid really well-liked and popular. Unconventional, but solid results.
So you don’t care about Canada Day or you don’t care about Freezy not caring about Canada Day?
Was trying to remember the last time I was there. In the late 80s I think, crossed north of Grand Forks, went thru Winnipeg to the Whiteshell where my in-laws had a cabin.
Been a long time since I’ve been in Canada on Canada Day. 33 years, in fact.
Sorry about the Oilers, MT. Nevertheless, happy Canadia day!
Yup, me too. Wonder if Herr Drai gets resigned…or traded…or plays out the last year of his contract?
Herr Drai looked like a shell of his former self… picked a really bad time to forget what he is normally capable of. Guess he’ll play out the last year of his contract, or he might get traded.
For those of you that follow such things.
I have never completely trusted John Roberts – perhaps there is hope yet.
He seems more about ‘making the SC look good’ then about making logical decisions.
But then Legal is not about Logical.
‘There is no such things as ‘Obama Judges’. Not possible to be so blind.
Just think few weeks back one of our political parties was harking we are a country of laws and a NY court has spoken. And now today, those same folks don’t seem to care so much about our laws and the judicial system.
Trump is in trouble now because Biden is going to order a drone strike on him and call it an official act and there is nothing anybody will be able to do.
I’m waiting for people to start publicly asking the question, “Who is running the country?”. It sure ain’t Joe, say it isn’t so.
Looking like it is the Doctor.
$10,000 dollar outfit and understands Americans financial pains. I’d punch her lights out if i knew i could get away with it.
yep.
A few weeks ago I posted a story that theorized it was all up to Jill. I hadn’t really thought about it much, but I am convinced everything is up to Jill. She is in charge.
And a terrible human being for committing elder abuse.
I’d say now you were (are) 1000% correct.
People are asking that question.
Have been for years, more and more lately, and much more loudly.
Libtards will not give an honest answer of course.
No problem – only thing Biden is capable of ‘ordering’ is for more prunes.

Hey, it’s not raining today.
That’s weird…
not only is it not raining today, it’s GORGEOUS out
It is pretty nice, but as a farmer’s kid, it is a stressful nice.
Averaging 75 degrees doesn’t cut it for corn. It will be a rotten fall if we don’t start getting some real heat.
But that is the way the ball bounces sometimes. God runs the weather. It is a good reminder humans aren’t in charge.
as a non farmers kid (but son in law to a farmer) i didn’t realize corn needed the real heat. do a majority of crops need “real heat”?
I know my father in law is a wheat farmer and where he is at, they don’t get much rain. always gets excited when they get 3/10 of an inch of rain. i just haven’t been telling him what our weather has been like here lately (although i would suspect the amount of rain we have gotten lately wouldn’t be good for his wheat, idk, maybe it would I DON’T KNOW I’M NOT A FARMER)
It depends on the type I think.
In Delaware, we have white sweet corn.
It needs to be in the 90’s with irrigation or rain.
The more heat, the better it tastes.
No farmer either but grew up in central Illinois and there is corn fields big time everywhere. It does get warm in summer there but not even close to ‘Florida warm.’ 82 pretty normal summer day. Corn seems to do fine.
Yep, corn requires about 100 heat units.
I forget the “heat unit” formula. Google would know.
I think you add the daily high and daily low, divide by something and subtract something. You then get a “heat unit” for the day.
It is probably similar to cooling and heating degree days that HVAC people know about.
Standing in an Iowa corn field in July, I have felt a lot of heat in my unit.
Were you with Edge’s favorite governor?

That would also generate heat in my unit.
I would vote for her just because of her looks.
I admit it…
@it sounds like your fil lives in my area@
It was a mild winter, so expect a mild summer. The average temperature has to even out sometime.
Sure made up for lack of snow last winter…
I have a love/hate relationship with corn. I hate driving big machinery and trucks full of corn down the road. Too much rolling weight and money with huge potential for screwing up.
I drove past a wheat field the other day, the farmer was right in the middle of it.
I knew right away he was a genius, because he was out standing in his field.
That’s pretty good.
It’s not been raining here for almost a month.
Everybody’s lawn is dead. Except mine.
We need your rain.
You can have all you want, we have two of our three bridges that connect the east side of the river to the west side closed. The two roads going south out of town are closed.
Before the one bridge was opened to get from one side of town to the other you had to go about ten miles around the town.
It is a small town appr. 3200 people.
This is what my town looked like last Monday
Little Venice!
I planted some new trees at the end of April. I haven’t had to water them one time.
Lucky dog. Mine cry out, please may I have another drop?
Yet
Thank goodness we finally got a gully washer last night.
Don’t think I have ever watched Hard Knocks and certainly have no interest in seeing anything about the Giants.
But then, I seldom pay much attention to training camps or preseason. Have little interest in seeing if our second stringers can beat someone else’s fourth stringers.
Good points.
I have players that I follow like Andre Carter II (West Point) that I follow in training camp to see how they are doing (#nojinx). Viking news on injuries, cuts, signings, etc but not so much the practice games.
QotD: I doubt that I will watch. Getting burned out on all the Hard Knocks shows, but who knows, if I am bored and flipping around, maybe I’ll watch for a few minutes.
Good morning Skoloholics. Short week this week looking forward to a 4 day weekend.
