VIKINGS NEWS –A few more details are coming out about Khyree Jackson and the car crash. Looks like one person was the cause of the three car accident. Drunk driving ruining more lives. It would be nice to have only good news or no news about the Vikings for awhile. Two weeks until training camp starts.
NFL News – FTP
Twinkies win 8-6 in Chi-town.
It took them to 11 innings to beat a 26 win team, but that is better than losing.
LOL 😂
Bidens people actually said Joe will do a “big boy” press conference.
Im starting to wonder if his own staff wants him gone.
So does a ‘Big Boy’ press conference mean he will wear 2 pairs of depends so he doesn’t leak thru?
Or does it mean that his teleprompter is bigger so ‘Big Boy Biden’ can read it easier?
Or maybe that he will have Big Boy drugs that will keep him alert until Dr Jill can lead him off the stage by the hand so he doesn’t get lost again?
Tester, D-Mont is officially on the dump Biden train. All the more reason to hope FJB hangs in there.

His statement was pretty ‘ weak sauce.’ Bow and his buddies need to throw this guy out. He’s been around far too long.
Ol’ pus guts. Can’t stand the guy.
As he should be.
He’s likely headed towards defeat with Biden on the ballot.
Good.
Hope all of the lying Dems who did their best along with the Fake News get what they deserve.
For all loyal conservatives.
there’s an old Russian saying – If you sit on the bank long enough, sooner or later the bodies of your enemy will come floating by.
Usually our guy, Trump, will say something and our Rinos and Neocons will come out and put him down or something worst.
Now, our friends on the other side are forming their circular firing squads and eating each other alive.
Not a bad time at all.
The longer Biden fights off the rest of the Dems the better it is for Trump and the nation I believe.
His letter to the rest of the Dems today stating he was staying in the race made me smile.
And now we have Hunter helping run things at the WH. Can’t get much better.
Well he is the smartest man FJB knows after all.
Movers Update.
They have been having some issues today with one of their 2 trucks.
First a check engine light had to be looked into before Corporate would let them continue, and then a slash on a tire of the same truck so another stop to replace it.
Team Lead just called and they will overnight in Winnemucca Nevada, about 250 miles south of us. They hope to get an early start in the morning and get here and unloaded.
It was about 101 here today and 105 forecast for tomorrow. Hot but better than the 116 degrees when the loaded us up on Sat.
So a down or light day for The Teacher and I today. managed to put away the Taco Ma and CRV load we brought with us yesterday.
That’s so cool that you get to drive a taco truck. I would get so fat.
Probably what the microwave was for.
Bruise Update.
Some of you may remember The Teacher setting me up to have a microwave internal plate take me out last week. I managed not to get brained by it and sacrificing only my foot to her nefarious plot.
Originally only some local bruising and swelling but then spectacular bruising across the top of my foot along my toes. Then Friday it became itchy, quite so if I wasn’t distracted by packers and movers.
Now we have progressed to less bruising along the top of my foot and more on my toes themselves at the first knuckle of several toes. They look like a stripe across my toes, weird. Some itching persists but that has mostly died down, still no pain. #nojinx
Ok, you guys are all caught up now.
Good to. know. I’ve been contemplating for days wondering if Trump will beat Biden, but images of your foot kept coming across my mind. Now I’m relieved.
Go Trump!
You know me, always trying to help.
#grin
It’s curious how the blood pools when the capillaries are ruptured….
I am just grateful that little pain associated with it other than the 1st 10-15 minutes, not even when walking on it.
I sure didn’t need that in the middle of this last few days. ‘Someone’ has sure been looking out for me. Prayers do help and I made sure to have my St Michael medallion on for the ride up here.
“Saint Michael is also the patron saint of police officers and military personnel.”
Itching = healing = good.
Doctor JRob.
If that is the full sum of my discomfort for my ‘folly’ I will take that gratefully.
Unless you live in Minnesota. Then Itching = mosquitoes = more itching.
Mosquitoes – come on down to the low countries down here in Florida.
I remember being on leave in ND and needing to jog to maintain my fitness.
The ex would have me cover my face with my hands and then spray me down completely with bug spray.
I felt I was running in a swarm of the ND state bird aka mosquitoes.
Ever run at Ft Polk?
Nope,
Ft McClellan, Ala was as close as I got.
Ft Hood, Tx could be pretty brutal as well.
One thing that Glendive has that most of you don’t have much of…is grasshoppers. I had hoped to prevent grasshoppers munching on my shelterbelt through prayer and a zone of cleared vegetation but after spraying pig’s blood on the little baby trees to keep the deer away I noticed lots of evidence of little grasshopper nibbling. Damn birds, you only have one job to do!
Alas, I am going to have to lay a killing field the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the Berlin wall with Sevin spray to decimate not only the grasshoppers which I loathe but also any beneficial insects that occupy the DMZ.
See?? North Dakota has way fewer Grasshoppers…maybe it really is paradise.
It’s amazing that the grasshoppers avoid TX, OK and KS.
Must be a wall or something.
Are they grasshoppers or locusts?
‘Locusts and grasshoppers are the same in appearance, but locusts can exist in two different behavioural states (solitary and gregarious), whereas most grasshoppers do not. When the population density is low, locusts behave as individuals, much like grasshoppers’.
Have a friend north of you a bit half way between Jordan and Ft. Peck. Big gardener. She said in less than 12 hrs after swarms of grasshoppers moved in all her flowers and vegetables were stems. Summer of 2022 if I recall.
Yeah, they are no joke. I’m no entomologist but they are getting bigger and bigger, maybe 4th instar?
It’s because of climate change.
Duh.
Everything is.
That or racism.
AFAIK the gregarious form of grasshoppers are extinct in North America. There hasn’t been a locust swarm in well over a century, right?
Fence it off and let about 20 chickens loose and the hoppers will disappear in short order. Bonus is you can become rich from all the eggs you will be able to sell at $30 / dozen.
We have about a dozen chickens and can tell when grasshoppers are plentiful, the yolks of the eggs turn dark orange and are really good to eat. So much so, that I can’t even eat the cheap pale yolk eggs anymore that are found in grocery stores.
The Hamas chief says the latest Israeli attack on Gaza could jeopardise ceasefire talks.
Israel: Dear Hamas… INCOMING!!!
I see questions posted here all the time wondering how my Subaru is doing, so its time for a Subaru update.
After the new transmission, new suspension, new brakes, and the tune up, its running very, very well. I have taken out of town on several long trips now.
But all is not perfect….the drivers side seat no longer can be adjusted. It would cost me about $500 to get it fixed….Is it worth it?
The damn thing gets 32 mpg over the highway so its really nice to take on long trips. However, if we are going on long trips its nice to be able to switch drivers occasionally, and now we can’t do that. Don’t know if we will fix it or not….oh well, First World Problem.
I would still consider a Subaru. I think they have fewer issues than Ford/Dodge/GM/Nissan/Kia-Hyundai
But the bar is set very low lately.
Wife’s Mazda has been great. My Kia still runs, but has had 6 recalls. I just hate car payments more than I hate the Kia
We have a Kia sportage, bought it used with 70,000 on it. It now has 80,000. The first 10,000 have been trouble free (knock on wood).
So far mine is very reliable. I just hate the multiple recalls, and it is too small for me. I bought it since I had a 50 mile commute daily and it gets decent mileage.
I see DeSantis just cut all of Florida’s 32 million dollar state budget that supports “the arts”.
What an evil, evil man.
It seems the Governor and many of his fellow Floridians don’t think tax payers money should support some of the more extreme (sexual) kinds of “art” – if you call it that.
True. The pushback is DeSantis is censoring art, but I agree with him. Some of the “Fringe Festivals” are a shit show of drag queens and other weird folks celebrating their weirdness in the extreme. They can do whatever they want, just don’t expect me to pay for it. DeSantis cut 1 Billion in excess spending out of the Florida budget this year. Good stuff in my opinion.
Yes it is.
Yes, very good stuff, its fun to watch the liberals scream.
I don’t think any tax payer money anywhere should go to funding “the arts”, but I flunked art in 2nd grade so my opinion might be biased.
Teaching kids to play an instrument or sing is one thing, drag queens and tattooing themselves is another.
Have a high school marching band and drama dept for plays I don’t mind but there is a line and courts often say, if you have one you have to have this other.
Sometimes the best option it to cut it all sadly.
Unfortunately, the good people often suffer because of the morons.
One Moron is capable of screwing it up for lots and lots of good people.
Dang human nature.
Also loved that he got rid of the DEI departments. in all the state universities. Guy has his head on straight
Totally agree.
I may have to consider moving to FL someday.
Seems like MN is becoming CA of the midwest.
Minn is competing with Oregon and Wash to out Calif the state of Calif.
I think Calif has too large an advantage but but there are Woke states that are working hard to close the gap.
New York, Maryland,DC, most all the NE States – you just don’t hear about it as much, but most all those really blue states have pretty severe “wokidis”
NYC is the closest to Calif in Woke-ism.
I don’t know if it just NYC or if more of the state is involved.
I have only been once that was as I passed thru on my to Berlin.
Minnefornia.
Iran’s President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s anti-Israel stance today, saying resistance movements across the region will not allow Israel’s “criminal policies” towards the Palestinians to continue.
“The Islamic Republic has always supported the resistance of the people of the region against the illegitimate Zionist regime,” Pezeshkian said in a message to Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah group.
Killing will continue.
Shocking – an Iranian President having an anti-Israel stance. Maybe we should stop giving them money.
Tell that to Obama and Kerry…
Evidently we are hiring/paying China to build military bases in the US.
2024 summer olympics start in 18 days in Paris. French elections just ended in what people are referring to as a “hung Government”. Last week the conservatives won the first part of the election handily, and everyone thought France was moving to a conservative Government for the first time in decades. Nope, this weekend a far left “surge” of voting occurred to cause the Government to be split. Hmmmm mail in ballots?
Somehow the conservatives got like 30% more of the vote and won almost zero seats.
Amazing statistics and follows logic, right? Just like here. Statistical impossibilities in 4 states at once – just luck I guess.
There are five major political parties in France, but there’s also another 45 or so that all vie for power in elections. Thus, garnering 30% of the vote in the first round was/is huge. The second round, the left “surged” somehow and basically defeated the conservatives.
The multitude of French political parties force “coalitions” to be formed to have enough seats and votes to get anything done. Currently no party has sufficient seats or votes to do anything, resulting in a hung Government.
“Far left ‘surge’ of voting.”
It is not like they have any ‘priors’ of that type of thing or anything.
Will FJB’s inner circle be checking his food and drink since so many want him to resign?
I read yesterday, he has no intention of dropping out and still believes he is the only person who can steer the country in the right direction.
Yep. He was on an MSNBC call this morning screaming about it.
More like the arsonist who puts the house on fire and then wants to ride in on the firetruck and put it out.
Except they just throw more gasoline on the fire and when the flames get lower because the house is gone they say, “see, I made the fire smaller, praise me.”
Or they say, if it wasn’t for me it would have gotten much worse.
That is completely accurate.
“Inflation would have been double if not for the IRA”
Some meaningless line that could never be proven.
They turned a toaster fire into a kitchen and living room fire and then when it only spread to one bedroom said, look how awesome we are, the guest room is still intact. Ignore the rest of the house burnt to ash because we dumped kerosene on the fire.
We’re going to find out if people are going to believe what they’re told, or what their pocket book tells them when they leave the grocery store or the gas station.
Or if we hadn’t banned hair spray, the climate would be so bad nobody would have lived.
No need to worry. If by some miracle there is a changing of the guard in 2025, there will be articles of impeachment brought forth for cognitive impairment within seconds of DJT’s inauguration braggadocios speech, for failure to fact check his statements.
I have nothing to add re: golf. But on child development. 2-3 months ago if I covered one of my grandson’s (11 mo old) smaller blocks or small balls with another cup like toy the covered toy ceased to exist, in his mind presumably, in all of the universe. Now he lifts the cup like toy to retrieve the covered toy. He knows it continues to exist even if he can’t see it. I guess I was to busy to notice this stuff when raising my own kids. Yes, I am easily amazed.
Theres a time line of development for kids, spatial awareness does not develop until a certain developmental stage. Its cool to see that happen in real time with kid/grandkids etc.
Pretty amazing stuff….
Since we are talking about a lot of worthless stuff today (like woodshop), I will update you on my golf game.
I previously had mentioned I made 1 small tweak to my swing which seems to have improved my ball striking – shot an 87 1st round with the new technique. Went golfing yesterday, shot an 89 – still very pleased. My shots by and large go farther and higher with all of the clubs. I expect once I get more comfortable with it and understand how it affects my distances I will get even a bit better.
85 or bust by the end of summer!
The local cancer charity is doing a golf scramble in a week. They must be hard up for participants as they have asked my wife to have us sponsor a foursome. I would do it, even though I haven’t swung a club in years, for the event and the fun of it…but would need the other couple in our foursome to be nice folk. At this point the pickings may be slim. Last thing I need is the couple that are working on getting a single digit handicap freaking out when I slice into the woods.
Too bad I don’t live closer! My wife and I would love to join you for charity. Scrambles are for fun – they are no places for single digit handicappers. In fact I don’t even think they should be allowed to play.
Have played with scratch golfers that we delightful to play with, and high cappers that were absolute jerks.
It’s really hard to justify a table saw unless you do a lot of cutting, but it is definitely the cornerstone of a woodshop. Don’t know if I’ll ever move up to the whole lathe, jointer, router, drill press realm (doubt it) but I made a whole bunch of cuts for the closet organizers I put up this weekend and man was that sweet. No more wavy lines and different lengths when making multiple cuts with a skilsaw.
I did discover these cool plastic blocky lego looking doodads that have kinda sticky bottoms that are used to push wood through the saw that keep a grip on the wood, preventing kickback, plus keep your hands away from the blade. I see far too many saw misadventures and use my own hands too much on the job to want to see how few fingers I can get by with.
Lessons from a Shop Class Teacher…
I took shop all through junior and senior high, that’s gotta be a nerve wracking job, supervising kids with power tools.
I still remember those lessons, review how I’m going to complete each table saw cut, make sure the fence and table are clean and square, hit the power button with my knee, stand offset to the potential kickback piece, etc…
I remember my Shop Class Teacher. A mean old brute, and yes, he was missing a couple of fingers…
We had two.
We had the grumpy guy with the heart of gold (he was a lifetime bachelor, actually lived across the street from my folks, and shortly after I moved to Wainwright in the fall of 8th grade invited me to join the bridge club he had with guys in my class that subsequently became my friends) that would lecture us on a variety of life topics, like if you only drink warm water you’ll never get a cold, when you sweep metal shavings it’s bump push bump push but sawdust is bump bump push bump bump push, etc.
We also had the really nice guy that you strove to please when he examined your work. Oddly enough he was blinded in one eye by a pellet from a shotgun while duck hunting and became a raging a-hole after that.
Cardiothoracic surgeon in Missoula, maybe 20 yrs ago cut off some fingers with a table saw. Grabbed fingers put on top of car and hurried to ER. Realized what he had done, checked roof of car, no fingers. Went back home sees his dog in the driveway, no fingers. Takes dog to ER xray dogs abd looking for fingers. No fingers. Guy retrains as a lawyer.
An OB/GYN in Spokane was working in his garage with a table saw, neighbor dog comes in starts fighting with his dog (he didn’t hear as he had muffs on), he gets bumped and sliced his hand down the middle, no more OB/GYN.
The rad that retired to open up my position here in GDV was in a surgical residency, working on table saw and was startled by a stray cat leaping out from under the saw and cut off his index finger, switched to rads residency.
On Saturday, my wife asked if the dogs could be out with me while I cut wood…nope!
Fingers laying on the side of the highway, that’d be a sight to see if you were hitching or riding bicycle.
Not football related but my wife and I were having a debate about something yesterday. We were playing kickball in an open space at the park near our house, and some kids wanted to join. We let them join, as we have generally always done when asked to join (even when playing in our own yard), but afterwards, our kids expressed that it’s more fun when it’s just our family. We were discussing if it’s okay to say “no, maybe next time” sometimes to the kids wanting to play with us, or if we should always include them no matter what, particularly if we’re near the park in a community space. There are several reasons for both views. What do you all think? Thanks in advance.
I would tell the kids that want to join, you are going to finish the current game and they can join when it is done.
I like this response.
I like this response as well, although when you are playing in your own yard you should feel free to say no.
Good response, but the problem is that we often don’t have the time or energy for another game, so it would probably be a false promise.
And then play the longest game of kickball ever and go home.
Years ago on the 4th of July, my sister and I and a couple others went to the park where they had 2 volleyball courts. We got there at like 8 in the morning knowing the park was always full, as it was on a lake. We ended up playing everyone at the park at least 3 times, our rule was winners keep the court. We ended up playing until 9 o’clock that night, without a break. Everybody had fun, and there was one family that kept coming back and bringing more people each time. I think at one point they had eight people playing on their side against just the four of us.
That is a tough one. You want to include neighborhood kids, but you do not want to short change your own kids, and your own children really want the one on one time with mom and dad.
In your own yard, I would say it is easier to say no, or maybe next time.
In the public park, I would let the neighborhood kids join. Problem is, you then become a non paid babysitter for too many kids.
I remember taking my nephews to the park to play catch and to catch flyballs.
There was always kids that wanted to join but then BB is more fun with more than 3 people.
Never had a problem and occasionally even helped out some.
In woke SB some Lib Lady had a toddler at the park, Toddler wanted to participate so we let him fetch a few balls we rolled off to the side. Lib Mom apoligized about it and I just replied ‘He just wants to be a boy’. She looked quite shocked at the thought.
i can see an argument on both sides..
personally, i would fall to the “let them play” side of things and show my kids that it’s good to include others, to think about others (think outside of ourselves) and be a good witness/light to strangers.
i would tell my kids you never know what little interaction could happen to help someone and make their day better.
then i’d probably take MY kids out for icecream for more one on one family time
Good answer.
How do you mitigate the higher concern for injury issue and also get the kids more exercise, while also playing the game they want to play (scenario above)?
Do I tell the big kid “hey, you’re too big to play with these guys” or just tell our kids “sorry, we can’t play kickball anymore, someone is gonna get hurt” and then leave? I mean, it’s a tough situation with feelings but also logical considerations.
You can take me out for ice cream.
This is certainly a tough question, especially not knowing age of your kids and amount of time you have to spend with them.
Since I’m older and my kids are long gone will just say this – there is no substitute for quality family time together.
And again cause I’m older, I often think I wish I had a few more hours with the kids ( at that age) doing this or that.
Yeah, so my take is that it is okay to say no sometimes, for whatever reason necessary, to make sure our kids have fun and get exercise, but also to avoid injury. There was a kid there yesterday that was just standing in the way and clearly didn’t know what to do (I think he was Russian, maybe didn’t understand), and another kid that was like 2 or 3 grades above everyone else, running around taking over every aspect of the game, and almost plowing people over. Another one of the kids that is our kids’ age is a bull in a china shop and almost gets hurt or tackles others consistently (so some liability there as well). It just seems like the inclusion thing isn’t worth it in some cases. My wife thinks we should always include everyone, which I disagree with for the above reasons.
Given my predisposition to family, and your indicating your kids saying they had more fun with just family, I’d lean towards ‘ no’ also.
And no one getting hurt would further solidify that position.
We run into this at the local park when we are playing basketball (my boys range from 9 to 16). Its usually younger kids that want to play, and as there is only one hoop at this park we always let them. But then there plenty of times when it’s just us, or we will give up the court and the boys will just play on the playground if it is busy. There are other places we go to also, and not many kids close to our house so we can always throw a football around. I think it has helped them to be less selfish and more considerate of others.
I know its not Tuesday, but I came acccross this info in an article talking about Kirk Cousins project season stats by ESPN
Has Cousins ever had 2 rushing TDs in a season? I mean he does a lot of good things on the football filed but the QB sneak ain’t one of them.
To answer my own question, with the Vikings he had 2 rushing TDs in 2022, the rest were all 1 rushing TD seasons.
‘To answer my own question,’
Very efficient of you,
But then we have learned to expect nothing less.
He’s no rube
Touche!
Ill take the under on rush yards and TDs on that. The rest of the stats seem in line IF he plays the whole season and their WRs improve a bit. Which is kinda TBD. Its easy to hit a schemed wide open JJ. Lets see if Atlanta and scheme their WRs open.
I was going to say he did with us in 23 but I see you beat me to it. I believe last year he had the longest run at the point he got injured. Granted our running game was a hot mess to start the season last year, but I think he had a 30 or 40 yard run at one point.
Twins are staying steady and playing over all good baseball, Summer is more fun and Football arrives faster when the Twins are watchable. I was also one more Lopes trike out away from $900 on an Underdog parlay on Friday night, I was pissed. He had two batters in 2-2, and 3-2 counts before that as well but the wheels fell off. And then Houston not pulling Brown after 92 pitches on Saturday cost me $1000 on Saturday. Thats why its gambling I guess. Oh well, I was playing with house money so wasnt out anything.
This is true…
Do you think we move on from Kepler at the trade deadline. With Walner coming back up and all of the young talent we currently have, I would get what I could for Kepler, maybe some pitching.
He’s so valuable in right, especially at home, he could play that wall and field with his eyes closed…that being said, his value may be at its max, and they need another good starting pitcher and some BP help to be able to really make some noise in the fall. Im torn…
Yup, another starter, I was pissed that they let Sonny walk in the off-season.
Pholads doing Pholad things, and then they use the messed up TV contract situation as an excuse to cut pay roll, they could have easily paid for Sonny, even for another year or two.
yeah the Twins have been fun! too bad i can’t watch it….
I think we are going to have a hard time getting all of our hitters on the field…what a great problem to have. Royce Lewis will be back within 2 weeks…Despite what some idiots are saying you DON”T send a red hot Brooks Lee back to the minors.
If they send down Lee I will riot. Top to bottom line up his banging on all cylinders. And having the utility and flexibility to move players around the infield and have no drop off in hitting or defense is great. Obviously no one plays short as well as Carlos but 3rd and 2nd havent been an issue and Santana is gold gloving it at first still into his 30s.
I agree, makes the time more enjoyable until football. I was there for Saturdays game, fun atmosphere, and they won.
I havent been to one since 2014, I vowed to not go until they put a better product on the field. Last two season and a half have been very fun to watch so im getting some of that old fire back that I had watching as a kid.
i’m sure there was discussion about khyree jackson’s death, on this weekends thread….
but man, that is so sad. it’s crazy how fast life can be taken away.
It was on my mind during my trip yesterday. Watching out for idiots was a major concern, daylight traveling made them easer to spot thankfully.
Knowing how fast it could go wrong helped with focus, keeping an eye on The Teacher in the CRV as well.
glad you made it safe.
gotta always be a defensive driver, expecting the worst from everyone around you.
That’s why heavy traffic like MSP gives me the heebie jeebies, it’s impossible to be very defensive when you are boxed in like a calf in a cattle chute.
Ha, so true. I was up there Saturday for twins game. I was a rider and used my “fake brake ” a few times. Middle lane, 5 lanes, and 75-80 mph. Definitely a little nerve racking.
We were pushing it bit toward the end but we had minimal traffic for the most part. When we encountered idiots we just slowed down and let them by, didn’t need that drama.
I don’t know if you saw on the weekend thread but I put out this gif for you. It must have worked since you made it.
I saw it this morning, thank you.
I gave I gave it a Rec.
Thank goodness it wasn’t another, cough, rookie drafted a little, cough cough, higher in the draft.
i know they got hit by another car, but again, there is nothing good happening on the road at 3am.
just a bad bad deal all around (i haven’t looked into the details)
Weekend call in Billings, I would work 7 am – 11 pm and my eyes would be practically bleeding by the end of that haul – could easily surpass 300 studies read. Then I start driving home, and if you know Billings you know that well over half the city has no street lights. I lost count of the number of times I encountered people in black clothing walking down the middle of the street (sidewalks are so passe) or riding bike like a drunk around that midnight hour.
Idiots are out at all hours, unfortunately. Just harder to see them at night.
Exactly, I used it as good teaching moment for my 21 year old son.
I told him even if you and your friends are all perfectly sober (which you better be if you are behind the wheel), there are a lot of drunks on the road after Midnight and you can easily get killed while being perfectly legal..get home by midnight!
Looks like, from the news reports, that a drunk driver ran them off the road. Of course the drunk is fine and Jackson and two friends are dead. I am sure the drunk driver will be turned into the victim. grrrrr
Surprising the driver hasn’t been charged with anything yet.
Seeing news on line it looks like speeding and alcohol were involved and maybe not just the one car, racing?
They need to make sure of the facts before charges are made. Saw his Grandfather one one report wearing a Marine t-shirt stating ‘we are going to get thru this the best we can’. Quality family, having lost a brother I know that sentiment well.
They got hit by a drunk driver. They were not drinking.
Saw somebody shared a bunch of her posts from Twitter or something and they were all about getting wasted, being wasted, etc.
Yeah. My guess is both cars were likely loaded and doing crap. Nothing good happens after midnight. Usually.
Good to hear the State Troopers are handling the matter. Local PGers don’t have the best reputation.
We made it.
Took 11.5 hours yesterday, set alarm for 4am, left by 5:30, here by 5 (6pm local) unloaded the vehicles, sat down and talked about how tired we both were and messaged family and friends that the move was now official. Movers will be here later today.
Taco Ma (Tacoma) is getting older so I went A/C free to keep from stressing her too much, made for a hot drive. Did not eat anything all day but drank lots and lots of water and iced tea.
Thankfully constructions zones were shut down for the holiday weekend or that would have added an hour or two to the trip. Much less traffic than expected.
SoCalMinnFan shows up as ‘cannot be changed’ so unless I want to start a new account it will have to stay. Unless some Admin type (not Lifer) knows more than I (pretty much a given) and can assist with that.
Glad to hear the journey went well. Missed you yesterday but knew you were busy.
Congratulations on a successful ‘escape’ and the start of next stage of your life.
‘Escape from SoCal’ has dominated my life for the last few month.
We are now past all of the time constraints, Movers going to be late? No problem, house to unpack/set up? we will get to it in our time. Pressure is now off, so I slept very well last night.
Congrats!
Thanks.
A bit to do before movers arrive and the chaos begins anew. But making the place comfortable won’t take long and the rest is long term project.
Hell we’re still unpacking from four years ago. Time is on your side now.
We found unpacked boxes from when I moved into the SoCal house and that was 19 years.
Downsized 1/3rd to 40% off the crap we had will help with that going forward we hope.

Congrats on getting out of CA!
I looked at the name change thing, and I cannot change my own. Above my pay grade.
I would say just start a new account or live with the terror of So Cal in your memory.
Currently I am thinking of keeping it and smiling while knowing that it no longer applies. That may change over time of course.
Congrats! Great to hear you are fee!
Now when I read about stupid stuff that goes on in Commifornia my only thought is ‘Not my monkey, not my circus’.
Welcome to the neighborhood, brother!
Howdy Neighbor.
View is great from up here.
I expect life will be much better as well.
It will be better, but you needed to move a couple of states further east to really find paradise.
I have spent enough time to know that ND has great people but truly horrific winters.
I remember that the clouds of ‘State Birds’ loved the taste of SoCal Boy as well.
Fair enough, and true.
About every February or so after winter has gotten a little long and we are in the midst of a -20 or -30 stretch of days. My wife and I look at each other and ask the question “Why do we want to live here?”
We have to date found no satisfactory answer.
I remember coming back to Grand Forks after spending Christmas at my folks in Alberta. Highway 2 from Towner to GF there was blowing snow coming from the north, and the driver side windows completely iced up and there was frost on the inside of the door despite running the heater in our 4Runner at max.
I know that stretch of road well…
people who don’t live around here have a hard time imagining frost forming on the inside of a car door despite the heater running full blast. There have been times I have stuffed a blanket along the door just to help with the problem.
But we really shouldn’t be driving when its that cold.
I have heard stories of family members there driving into the winter wind and the engine starting to freeze up, while running.
Once they turned sideways to the wind the engine would start to warm up until the road curved back again.
Yes, those from the west should keep going to ND and those from the east should just stop in ND. Montana sucks.
Cliff notes: Let freedom ring.
Freedom of Association, aka don’t have to associate with ‘Woke Californians’ any more.
Savage!
But remember, he is the only candidate with any morals.
Monday returns…
I reviewed a Pamela Anderson movie.
Why!!?? Oh yea, you kind of only review b-list movies.
