VIKINGS NEWS – One week after Khyree Jackson is killed by a drunk driver, teammate Jordan Addison is arrested for a DUI. Couple this with the speeding incident by Addison last year, and I am ready to proclaim this guy an idiot. Someone call Chris Carter. Addison needs a fall-guy for sure.

I love the republic, but hate the government. Dealing with SSA and Medicare since my cougar wife is “at age”…such a delight.

Those that know me know that I have a near photographic recall of the 47 page booklet that CMS sent her ahead of the joyous occasion. In there it sez based on our records part B will cost a few paltry pennies. “Well, we sez, “it makes little sense to forgo pt B”.

Oho, a bait and switch…since our records show you are married to a gouger pt B premiums will be much much higher, much higher in fact than what it costs for existing clinic visits with the policy you currently have. Therefore, we shall apply the entirety of your SSA benefit for the first three months to pt B.

Okay, understandable misunderstanding I guess. Submitted the form to cancel pt B a month ago. Called today, oh no we have not received the form.

For me the Secret Service Head discussion reminds of the contrast with the way the Navy handles things. At least the pre – woke Navy anyway.
Naval ship runs a ground. The Captain of the ship is immediately relieved and a board of inquiry is convened. And 99% of the time the Captain is found to be at fault.
Even if the Captain is asleep in his stateroom at 2:00 in the morning, and the Helsman and Officer of the Day completely screwed up. The board would say the Captain is responsible for the training of the crew and their execution of their duties. And if standing orders were unclear or ambiguous his fault too. Simply, the Captain is responsible for the ship and its mission, and running it aground is a massive failure.

Getting older suuuuuucks….

Alone with the dogs all weekend, wife in Omaha for a bachelorette party.

In the backyard for a few brief minutes Saturday morning. (Hot as blazes here, over a hundred the last few days) the Goose was loose and running around. He sees a younger guy and his daughter and in the blink of an eye, jumps the fence to greet them with a howl – this causes concern as we live on a busy street and I never have him off leash outside the fence. The fence is a little over 3 feet tall and made of wire so I swing my legs over it and get to Goose and his new friends. They were great, girl got to pet the puppy and everbody was happy. They walk away and I grab Goose (who’s about 45 lbs) and pick him up and lift him over the fence and swing my legs back over it – and my back seizes up.

Feels like a bear trap has grabbed ahold of the base of my spine and I get an intense pain from under my asscheek that shoots down my leg and up my spine to my shoulder. Thankfully I don’t go over. I’m hunched up pretty good and managed to grab a spade shovel leaned up next to the house and limp my way back in, get Goose inside and immediately get a heating pad and my therapy gun – wrap the pad around my back and plug it in and use the gun on my hip and lower back for about 45 minutes while standing in my kitchen. Got some IB 800’s and then realized I had Percocet from my dental work left last year. Took that with some pudding and spent another hour wandering the house, afraid to sit down. Prepped my easy chair with some extra pillows and found my cane (an impulse buy during COVID I got off the clearance rack from Ace Hardware for $15). Packed a soft cooler with some PBJ’s, pretzels and water, took another Percocet and passed out in the chair – woke up to a news alert about the Trump shooting. More heat and therapy gun most of the day yesterday. Called in this morning. Feel better today – walking without the cane, but my back still hurts enough that I don’t want to be in an office chair all day.

Hope everyone’s Monday is going well and incident free.

Sounds like a classic disk extrusion.

Thank goodness I’ve never had back problems.

I can clearly remember the Challenger disaster as I was home studying for an exam during exam week senior year HS, dad was also home, watching tv in their room and making their bed, cried out and as I was helping him into the bed there was breaking news. He had a (one and only) disk extrusion that fortunately resolved with time and mild narcs.

I’m impressed with the planning and forethought that went into your routine before climbing into the chair.

Not my first rodeo with my back seizing up – I’ve made changes for the better and was hopeful I’d lost enough weight to avoid back issues and had done so for almost a year. Last time I went to the ground and it took 45 minutes of maneuvering furniture around so I could use it to stand up. Cane came in handy then too.

Had something similar happen when working at the prison. Tall laundry cart full of sheets that had to be pulled out and exchanged with the inmates.

Felt like I had been shot in the back. Made it thru the shift gingerly with the help of my partners, came back the next day on over the counter pain killers and muscle relaxers and got thru that shift. Then my days off and survived.

I give credit to 22 years of exercise the Army forced on me, gave me a strong core. But it was a near thing.

I was in Duluth this weekend, so I never got much news on it.

I actually learned about it because one of my Facebook friends immediately posted something like, “My guess is Trump faked it. He was shot at with a rubber bullet or something. The secret service has done things like this before…”

I have come to the conclusion that some of my Facebook friends are true idiots. It has nothing to do with their political affiliation. They are just flat out stupid.

It would have been a serious crisis on the democracy, that is for sure.

You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to wonder how someone climbs onto a roof with a rifle 130 yards from a former president. Hell when we were walking to the Department of the Interior secret service wouldn’t let us within 130 yards of the back entrance despite my wife had to pee really bad, cuz the speaker of the house was in the building (as we later found out, not like ss volunteered that info).

I heard a cop climbed the ladder, looked at the shooter, shooter started to point the rifle at him, and the cop went back down the ladder. How was Trump not removed from the stage? Not sure why there was hesitation from the counter sniper, but I could hit a prairie dog at 130 yards with a 22 LR. Trump was extremely lucky.

You don’t let somebody within 1000 yards of the president with a rifle. The failure was mind boggling. The guy should have never gotten with 100 yards of the building much less on top of it with a rifle. It just doesn’t add up. The female secret service agents that couldn’t even holster their weapons after the fact was comforting though.

I read a story from a former secret service agent years ago where he was walking alongside the president’s car in a parade.

He saw a kid pointing a gun at the car. He said he was a hair-trigger away from burning the kid where he stood before he realized it was a squirt gun and stopped himself.

So, I think if they see a threat, they are supposed to act and ask questions later.

Maybe snipers have a different protocol, I don’t know.

Yeah, and they reportedly had sights on him for at least 30+ seconds before the first shot, in addition to people warning SS about the guy up there for 3-4 MINUTES, so they knew in advance and could have at least pulled Trump off stage until investigated. Highly likely some semblance of planning or allowing the first few shots IMO.

I’ve told this story before, but when I was a kid, President Jimmy Carter came to town on the Delta Queen or one of those steamboat throwbacks. We lived in an apartment that was within viewing distance of where the boat docked. A couple of guys (secret service) where carrying stuff up the back stairs and my brother volunteered to help carry their cases. Once they put the ladder up to go up to the roof, they politely told him that was as far as he could go. It didn’t register with me until later that secret service snipers where on my roof. Of course, I was a young teen at the time and was quite clueless.

Looking like Vance from Ohio is the odds on favorite, but that could take a R Senator off the board, ND Gov looks like a creeper and doesn’t add anything to the ticket. Rubio speaks Spanish which could help but they would have to get around the rule that states ‘no two candidates from the same state on the same ticket’. Scott from S.C. brings voters but is considered too Nice and too Religious by others.

He could go outside those 4 but they all have pro’s and con’s. It will be interesting to see whom he chooses.

Stupid Addison. I had not heard that.

Not as good as Kool-Aid. No fruity flavor. Just something like straight white sugar dissolved in water.

My wife went to an Asian grocery store the other day in Minneapolis: United Noodles.

Since I can only wait in a car for about an hour before going crazy, I went inside to kill some time and picked out the sugar cane drink. Not sure which Asian country it comes from.

I also picked out a coconut one. I will try that tomorrow.

The big junk food score was a dozen Dunkin Donuts. They actually had Apple Spice on the shelf yesterday in St. Peter. They hardly ever Apple Spice when when I visit a Dunkin Donuts. It’s my favorite. If they don’t have it, I usually don’t get anything.
