Question of the Day – What are you weekend plans? I have two tee times and will again cook smashburgers on the griddle.
So far Darnold and McCarthy are looking good in camp. Looking at other teams (Chiefs, Jets, Texans, Ravens, etc) everyone is excited to be back, and the team is looking good.
Pre-season games coming. I’d think we would get an idea of what the offense will look like a little but nothing solid until the first regular season game.
This kids has it and you won’t convince me otherwise.

I was being a little tongue in cheek. Bow is convinced McCarthy is a HoFer. Others are probably not on that bandwagon, but no one is debating the issue with him. He’s howling at the moon.

I have been a Viking fan too long to dive right into that CoolAid yet.
I think McCarthy is going to be very good. It depends on how good the rest of the team is though, that will determine win/loss records and Championships. Look at Stafford. He set NFL records with the Lions and never sniffed a Championship. Went to the Rams, and voila, won a Super Bowl.

Look at discussion of Tua below. He was a great college QB and when healthy runs the Miami offense at a very high level. Seems the Miami headshed thinks he’s worth it, some here not so much.

From a non Floridian perspective, me, deep south is Miami south. Why do you consider Palm Beach Deep South Florida?
Causes it’s 3 hours south of Orlando – that’s deep to me. And I’m actually further south in the county than palm beach itself. There’s north palm beach, west palm beach, palm beach gardens just palm – there;s alot. As I learn more about Florida, I’ll let you know. Have no interest in going to Miami ever though.

We have some furniture coming in today and tomorrow, dresser, bookcases, TV stand. Considering the County Fair either tonight or Sat Afternoon, depending on furniture arrival.
Sunday church and then rest up for the busy week of retirement and slowly getting the final organizing in and start putting decorative touches on the Idahome.

I remember when we “rotated” out of our PMQ/base apartment in Baden-Soellingen. My mother and I spent hours cleaning the bathroom to her high standards. As we were waiting for a bus to transport us to a nearby inn, the local civvies could be seen tossing the tub and toilet out the third floor window to shatter in the back of a truck below. Would have been nice if the DND had shared that with us when they sent the cleaning checklist.

Saw some mumbo jumbo today that the average Montanan watches 14.7 hours of the olympics, 1 in 4 takes time off work to watch, 76% alter sleep schedules.

I don’t know if it’s true for every Thursday until February, but it is true the Hall of Fame Game (HOFG) will be on next Thursday to kickoff, no pun intended, the 2024 preseason.

A lot of subs there have “rules” like “no politics” however they let pots and comments about pro Biden Harris things fly all the time but if you criticize anything you get down voted and God forbid you say anything remotely positive about the other side. Its a giant double standard. Well I deleted my 2nd reddit account in a year because it got temp banned because I explained why Harris would continue to drive this country into the ground and that my hardest time living as an adult financially has been under Bidens puppet reign. And I had the opposite when Trump was in office, him being a prick or offending people be damned, he got shit done. I was explaining this to someone who wasnt from the US and was genuinely asking why Harris would be so bad compared to Trump and I gave them a well rounded response. Boom, downvoted and banned from that sub and this morning I was banned from the whole website for two days. Go fuck yourself reddit. Im debating getting an X account and just following my sports teams and thats it. Least Elon wont ban me for not being a boot licker.

Sorry, you could have five parties and get the same. The ‘number’ of parties is not the problem.
That’s why I said get a foothold. I meant I don’t see any way that a third or fourth or whatever party will be able to get enough traction to be taken seriously because they will always take from one side or the other. There is almost no way a party could be formed that would truly be a centrist party or have enough of a mixture of viewpoints that you wouldn’t hurt one party more than the other which would do nothing but make one of the two parties even stronger by splitting the vote.

If we could get the ‘extremists’ in each party in separate groups that could be helpful. The firebrands often seem to control each side while the ‘silent majority’ suffers in…well silence.
Yeah, but to do that you would have to separate the extremists from both sides at the same time. If only one tries to split, it will be short lived and they will come back to the main party with more power to keep the other side from winning, thus moving that party further towards their extreme. That’s why the Dems have moved so far to the left. Instead of ignoring the crazies, they ignore them for a little bit, let them get support and then placate to them to get them and their new supporters back in the fold.

Oh, my prayers were answered. Coming home last night from work, there was a flock of birds (wish Birdman was around) of unknown species that were doing the whole covey thing as I was coming down the drive. I would estimate 800-900 birds in the flock. They were devouring grasshoppers. They were back this morning.
Also, I took the dogs to the lake after work. Love that look in their eyes “do…you…wanna…go…for…aaaaaaaaa…SWIM!?!” Cartwheels and flips ensue. Someone had stopped to let their horses swim in the lake. I think my chocos wanted to ride around the lake on the horses’ backs.

Well, it is not really high on my need to know list but I was curious. They took off in big coveys, making patterns in the sky, before settling back down to a cloud of grasshoppers fleeing.
As long as they’re the grasshopper eating kind. We curiously haven’t had many in town yet.
I can honestly say the 11 years I lived in Billings I did not see a single grasshopper. Mosquitoes also rare. Flies and yellowjackets, yes.
Flies at the lake yesterday were a PITA. There would be 20 perched on the dogs’ heads as they swam back with their balls, followed by 180 more once they shook off the water dripping from their fur. Meanwhile I was cursing a blue streak slapping them off my legs. Meanwhile it felt like I was basking in Satan’s breath with 109 degree breeze. Worst summer I have ever spent in Montana.
