VIKINGS NEWS – I do not think anyone else got injured lately. 12 days until the first Vikings preseason game. By all accounts, JJ looks pretty good in practice. I still think he sits most of this year.

NFL News – FTP. Also, Good Morning Football is back on NFL Network. I kind of like that show during the season.

Well, I gave in to pay-per view once again. Started a 7 day free trial of mlb extra innings, (29.99 monthly afterwards). I figured I’d watch the twins through August then cancel. I’ll get 33-35 games, less than a dollar a game, not bad.

I haven’t been into baseball for a long time. As a kid I would listen to many games in the background as I did other things. Those were the days.

The bonus is that I can watch any teams games except for the brewers. You wouldn’t know if you don’t follow much, but there is a young buck that plays for the pirates by the name of Paul Skenes that is doing tremendous after only 7 starts from being called up this season. He’s pitching now against the cheaters, the team from Houston.

I just had a manager come into my room and ask me questions.

I then answered his questions and proceeded to dink around on my computer while he sat there in total silence for 10 minutes.

I just thought he was deeply thinking about his problem and wished he would think about it somewhere else while I sat there in total silence for 10 minutes.

Turns out, he thought I was coming up with a solution as I dinked around on my computer.

That was awkward…

I still have no real idea what he wanted exactly.

KFEY, I wanted to bring back a comment of yours I saw the other day about the cesspool that is Reddit. It is so crowded with crybaby libs (particularly the MN subreddit), that I had a similar experience when I was on there about a year or so ago. Constant conservative bashing goes unchecked (and is rewarded and celebrated), but you make one comment refuting their lies or pointing out a fact or simply stating a differing opinion, and you get banned by some snowflake mod because they can’t handle either truth or the slightest opposition. Just trash enforcement of rules there (just like our DOJ – selective enforcement of punishment). I will never go back there.

I don’t think it’s anywhere near the same thing here – I don’t believe that people here are being banned based on their views. They might get piled on due to some things that are wildly illogical or if they are supporting false narratives, but admittedly, there does seem to be more the opposite views here of almost everywhere else (which to me, is refreshing for once).

Apparently, the NFL is requiring more coaches to be available for the live interview we see during the game. (Live does not mean live. It’s clear some are taped) But the “in-game” interview is going to be more prominent this year. NFL claims that fans love this.

Personally, it does nothing for me.

Coach winning; ” we just gotta keep the pedal to the metal”

Losing coach: ” we suck and have to turn it around”

Do these in game interviews make you like the game more?

I have a friend that was born and raised in Egypt. He moved to the United States shortly before 911. He speaks 5 different languages including Arabic. After 911 he was hired on with Homeland security as an interpreter, he worked out of Mankato MN. He told me, Homeland Security has a room with about a thousand monitors that he would sit and watch all day long. He said there is a camera on just about every corner of Mankato. I can’t imagine what it is like for cities like NY or LA.

DHS needed to hire someone who spoke 5 languages to watch those 1,000 monitors? Did those monitors have sounds that is why he needed to watch them?

Eh. Not impressed.

According to multiple reports, Minnesota is signing Bobby McCain.

McCain, 30, formerly played under Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores when they were both with the Dolphins.

McCain spent most of last season with the Giants. He appeared in 10 games, mostly playing special teams. He was on the field for just 19 defensive snaps.

After spending six seasons with the Dolphins to begin his career, McCain played for Washington in 2021 and 2022, appearing in all 34 regular season games.

Swiftly endorses Harris.
Now proposes something that will never see the light of day in reality.
Change the Supreme Court rules.

I can definitely see he and his family being bitter.
The main flaw in this theory is that he hates Trump more.

How was everyone’s weekend?

Didn’t watch and won’t watch a second of the Olympics. Life’s too short.

Zach Top was awesome! Little Texas sucked.

Rodeo was good. Saw the most amazing bullfighter action sequence ever – bull rider got spun off, bull continued turn and broke out straight for the downed cowboy, fighter jumped between them and the bull got a piece of bullfighter ankle with the hook of his horn, fighter was doing that scramble thing (I do downhill sometimes) where he was off balance scrambling not to fall flat on his face, bull caught up to him and was about to stomp his ass and he rolled out of the way at the last second and the bull only got the smallest piece of him. Happened in five seconds. Those bullfighters have balls of steel.

Same bullfighter was participating in a comedy act with an ambulance, part of the act was getting hit in the head by the swinging ambulance door, only it hit him hard enough his nose was actually bleeding.

Bloody nose and faces of death, all in a day’s work.

Made an awesome breakfast on the griddle and steaks and potatoes on the grill for supper, even the granddaughter couldn’t get enough to eat.

Nah, those bullfighters are smart. You have to read the bull in a split second and keep your center of gravity low.

Now the guys that ride the bulls? Yeah no thanks. But I love watching the spectacle. Usually once the bull gets the cinch pulled they become bucolic, just want to leave the arena. The first bull (not the one that almost stomped the fighter) was PISSED, kept trying to hook the outriders, trying to get the cowboys sitting on the fence, etc…The two riders roped him by the horns and tried to pull him to the paddock, he took that for about ten seconds and then said nope, set his feet and almost pulled the horses over before they let the lasso go.

Ok, I counted a ‘bullfighter’ a ‘bull rider’ a ‘cowboy’, and a ‘fighter’.

At one point ‘bull continued turn and broke out straight for the downed cowboy, fighter jumped between them and the bull got a piece of bullfighter ankle’ so there is at least two vs the bull at some point. Did the bull get the ‘fighters’ ankle? Or the ‘Cowboy’ the ‘fighter’ was shielding?

Was one of them a rodeo clown? Or do they not do those anymore? Is/was the ‘fighter’ the same as the ‘bullfighter’? Then who was the ‘cowboy’?

I’ll make an assumption you haven’t watched much bull riding. The rider’s job after they either involuntarily leave the bull’s back or after the 8 second horn sounds is to get to their feet and head towards the nearest fence. Often that is the gate of the chute they were in, the cowboys that assist with positioning the bull in the center of the chute and opening the gate are all standing there ready to help him reach safety and jump up the fence themselves.

The bullfighters are typically two guys that have lots of experience doing this. They wear loose clothing and have handkerchiefs trailing out their back pockets to attract the bull’s attention. They follow the spinning bull as it does the 8 second ride and then move into the bull’s line of sight to pull the bull’s attention away from the rider. Usually the bull does a half hearted charge and when they spin out of his way the bull looks for the riders on horses to come and pull the cinch. The bulls know the game.

The rodeo clown is the star of the arena crew. He is mic’d and keeps up a humorous commentary “that bull was as pissed as Joe Biden at a Trump rally”. Typically sits or stands near a barrel in the center of the arena, that he can climb into if the bull approaches. The clown almost never engages the bull, typically the clown is a retired bullfighter. The clown also does a variety of elaborate skits to humor the crowd.

So the bull got the ‘fighter/bullfighters’ ankle while the ‘cowboy/bullrider’ got away clean??

I have not watched bullriding since Wide World of Sports went off the air in ’97, actually I didn’t watch much of that after I joined in ’76.

Think I went to 2 rodeos in that time. Don’t remember seeing much if any ‘bullriding’ at either of them.

Correct, the rider got away clean. The fighter was in pole position to capture the bull’s attention, and was just a little off balance when the bull locked onto him. I thought he was going to get hooked.

Here is an example of some of the sequences. Dawson County has a very large outdoor arena unlike most of these indoor venues, so the bull has a lot more room to run and the outriders have to chase him down to pull the cinch.

Weekend was good. Smoked some beef. I’ve very much enjoyed Skateboarding and Judo so far for the Olympics. Plus that was far and away the best Opening ceremonies ever with one of my favorite bands killing. That Gojira part was so killer. And unlike most Christians, the non-believer me knows the Bible well enough to not be dumb or ignorant enough to twist any of the imagery as something that is mocking to Christianity. I mean… How dumb can you be? Either dumb or just so use to self victimizing it’s become habitual.

Played in an interesting golf tourney this weekend. It was a couples tournament with 3 couples per team. It was best ball and for the first 9 the men teed off on the odd holes and women on the even holes. Then you would alternate shots, so if the men teed off the women took the next shot. Our team did horrible, not great golfers but we have fun.

Trying something a little different with my Lasagna today. Starting the meat sauce in the Crock Pot so that it will be ready to go when I put it all together late this afternoon.

Figured the sauce could benefit from a long simmer to get the flavors to blend together. Normally it doesn’t get a chance to do that as I make the sauce just before assembling the Lasagna otherwise it becomes a long drawn out process.

Wish me luck.

I use spaghetti sauce, I just add meat, onions, mushrooms and spices. It is normally pretty good but always looking to improve.

I added a little bit of corn at the bottom of the crockpot so that the meat isn’t sitting right on the heating element for several hours. Not a lot, plus I like corn so don’t think it will detract from the final dish.

On the Amazon seller blog there was a person that got all bent out of shape when someone would mention that they googled a customer’s address. There are legitimate reasons to do so, for example, if you are checking to see if their is an actual house there or if it is someone trying to scam you, or to see if it is a house or an apartment building so you can be sure to have an apartment number if necessary. However, the person would go on and on how that if illegal and immoral and all kinds of stuff. Apparently we are all just supposed to trust the post office or UPS that they will get the package to the customer. That is laughable at times.

I stubbled across something that was a combination of basketball, hockey and soccer. I don’t even know what it was called, but it was entertaining. Good catch. Stubbled. It is too early for spelling.

The ball looked somewhat like a basketball, but it was smaller. It was like soccer and hockey because there was a goal with a goalie. And it was like hockey because for certain fowls, there was penalty time so one team could have a power play time. It was like basketball, because while they could take a few steps without dribbling, if they took more than 2 steps, they had to dribble the ball. It may have been team handball, but they never said the name of the sport.
