Thread Guidelines

  • Keep politics out less toxic. We are adults, news happens, and we can talk about it. What we don’t want is to go down the rabbit holes and turn a productive conversation into name calling and personal attacks.
  • Be cool to one another. Like it says above, just be civil. You don’t need to agree with everyone and that’s fine, you also don’t need to make it personal. Attack the argument not the poster.
  • Keep the NSFW to a minimum. We don’t need anyone getting in trouble at work for hanging out here.
  • All in all, be adults. Treat each other with respect and things will be fine. Mods will take out content they feel is pushing the boundary. If you want to reach out about something feel free to ask. We want to have robust discussions, that’s why we’re here. Just be civil and cool to one another.

A Texas delegate was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men in Chicago following the Democratic National Convention (DNC) early on Wednesday.

The delegate was walking downtown in Chicago with a friend at around 2 a.m. when the masked gunmen pulled up alongside the victims in a dark blue Range Rover. They demanded that the two give up their belongings, or risk being shot and killed.

Following the initial robbery, the thieves then crossed the street to rob two more victims before taking off in their vehicle.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Ford’s EV division is on pace to lose as much as $5.5 billion this year.

This is what happens when activist politicians push agenda’s. Businesses try to accomodate, and it’s a disaster.

It’s also how the free market works. Usually doesn’t work in any setting when politicians have a moral, religious, environmental etc… agenda instead of upholding the constitution and doing what’s best for America agenda it doesn’t work out well for… Americans. Shocking.

He is always the exception to his own rules. He’s the gander and it’s only good for the goose if first he can make it good for the gander. I mean we’ve known this forever. If he can get cheaper foreign labor even if it hurts Americans he will, has and does. If he can get cheaper Chinese steel he will, has, and does. These are all facts. Now do your go to response all Trumpers have that ignores the point I brought up by saying some kind of, “he’s smart and it;s the system’s fault not his for being smart.” That ignores the fact he is willing, very willing to do what’s good for himself even at the expense of America.

If we want to get in the weeds with taxes, we could have some fun.

The Trump tax cuts actually raised my taxes.

It had to do with the “exemptions” part of the tax return. While the rates weren’t increased, my deductions from the “exemptions” were eliminated.

I had 3 kids at home. That was almost $15,000 in deductions. That plus my itemized/standard deduction of around $13,000 was more than the new standard deduction that replaced the “exemptions”.

Bottomline, it wasn’t a big increase in taxes.
It was the bad loop hole where parents with kids older than 17 but not yet graduated from college got hit.

Overall though, the SALT was golden.
People in Blue states with high taxes got shafted !!

Come on JR… do you really believe Biden garnered 81 million votes? Seriously? In 2008, Obama earned 69,498,516 votes in the presidential election, the most ever. Biden, campaigning from his basement, far surpassed that tally, setting a new record with more than 81,284,000 votes.

Trump got over 74,221,000 votes.

There is no way Biden is more popular than Obama.

First, I was just trying to counter Edge’s post.
But seriously – there may have been some cheating, but don’t think enough to change outcome.
There have always been more democrats than republicans in this country. But for a variety of reasons, many times democrats don’t vote as religiously as republicans,
But with this mail in voting stuff, dems were able to harvest votes at a level never seen before. And republicans aren’t as good at this aspect. If it were only in person voting, Trump would have won big time – but the rules of the game changed.
And there will be even more votes cast this year than last time.
Lastly, without COVID, the rules wouldn’t have changed and Trump would have won easily.

But my point is, Kamala will not go full proposal mode on what she really will do until she gets elected.

It would be electoral suicide to propose large socialist ideas at this point. Unless she knows the fix is in. Which I believe is extremely possible.

It seem “socialism” is no longer a bad word in American politics. She may push all these taxes – it’s really on only all us billionaires around here – to pay for all the give away plans.
Hard to find an “honest” economist to refute this. Guys on Fox don’t count.

Well they can openly and brazenly use that word in many circumstances.

But I think in this climate of high inflation, people don’t want it. They want lower costs and a change.

Not saying Trump and the Repubs can’t eff this up, but I think Harris is boxed in right now.

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT)– Intermountain Gas Company filed its annual purchased gas cost adjustment (PGA) with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to decrease its prices by approximately $46.8 million. The proposal is due to an over-collected gas costs from the prior PGA as well as a decrease in estimated costs for the coming year.
